There isn't a note competent or carring animal facility on the West Bank or anywhere else I've ever been! I have only been on this side of the river a little over a year. My veterinarian has semi retired and I do not like his replacement . It is also pretty far if I have a sick pet. First I used them because my neighbors left a pregnant cat behind, she was only 9 months old and was very hungry before I caught her. The staff and vet were awesome! She was not too far along for the spay and seemed to be very comfortable after. Then a few months later my black cat got ill, I took him to emergency vet ( I will never use Vetmed again, rude and seemed to not care at all). I went to Furry Friends and they were so caring , we did tests and got some meds. He continued to get ill and they understory very limited budget and offered me payment plans and a person even stepped up to help. After 5 months he dropped a lot of weight in a few days and right before I was to take him in he passed in my arms. Symptoms all pointed to cancer that had affected his neurological and respiratory system. I never felt left out of his care and the decision making. They were very kind. The time she devotes to the spay and neuter cause is fantastic. I will use them for my cats as long as I live here. Read Less

Dr. Reidel and everyone else there is absolutely amazing! My dog is super high maintenance with all of his medical issues and they took time to make sure all my questions were answered and he was doing better. They talked to jaxxson more than they talked to me and thats the way it should be haha. Super great place and worth the drive from uptown! Read Less

ZERO STARS FOR FURRY FRIENDS. We rescued a 3 month old kitten yesterday morning and my neighbor was telling me about furry friends. So we take the kitten there this morning. Now keep in mind we rescued the kitten yesterday morning and had nothing to carry him in. When we walked in, the clerk was rude from the start. She said the cat either needs to be in a kennel or on a leash. Well she gave us a box to put tiger in. Then she wanted to know what we wanted so I told her that we found the cat and we want him fixed, declawed and dewormed. She said we needed to make an appointment and that the vet will not be in until this afternoon. Then we asked her when will we be able to make the appointment but all we was getting from this bad attitude woman was a roundabout way of saying our cat was not welcomed here. I have posted on my Facebook to all my friends and family not to bring the pets to them. If they are rude to humans just imagine what they are like or do to our pets. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND FURRY FRIENDS TO ANY OF MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS. Read Less

I could give this place zero stars I would.  I took my 1 year old English bulldog here.  And everything was all good until he really got sick and they actually had to be an animal hospital. Frankie had stopped eating and I took him here. I was given an oral antibiotic ((mind you I said he wouldn't eat so HOW am I supposed to get him to take oral meds?????))  things got worse really quick after that.. I called one day and said that Frankie was in distress and could I bring him in?? I was told no I couldn't because the doc needed to go on break and she doesn't miss her break for anybody.. Ok. I asked to come in later.. The answer to that was no. I was scheduled that following Tuesday. On that Tuesday they drew blood. By this time my Frankie was visibly losing weight.. When the blood test came back the "doctor" read the findings to me over the phone.. She suggested another antibiotic (by this time it had been seven days since my Frankie had eaten). She never offered to put him on an IV to try to get fluids into him.. she never said maybe we should keep him overnight.. She KNEWy Frankie was very sick and did nothing!! Ultimately my baby died.. Now if you read this review and choose to still use this vet.. O well.. However this was my experience and I write this to hopefully keep this from happening to anyone else.. Read Less

I should have written a review a long time ago... but all the reviews you have read couldn't be more true. Dr. Reidel and her staff are amazing. I am originally from San Diego, when we relocated to Gretna, I happenstanced upon her, and what a lucky turn that was. Dr. Reidel is the type of person who gets down on the floor to examine your pet, as to make them more comfortable. She allows them time to adjust to her and really gets all the different pet personalities that she may come in contact with. She NEVER rushed through any of our visits. Read Less

Great staff and very reasonable cost, I used them for a lot of my golden puppy's initial needs (shots, neutering, random small problems). Everyone I know on the West Bank goes to this from everything for dogs to birds to cats to hamsters.  We've always been pleased.  Besides the good service, everything seems to be priced a little bit cheaper than everywhere else.But I was sold when we had to bring my cat in the other day for his very last visit. :(Cherie the Vet tech and Dr.Reidel were amazing!  They stayed later than planned to take care of us last minute but didn't rush us at all.  They were so sweet and talked to us and made jokes at all the appropriate times.  They were marvelous and I will not go anywhere else now! Dr. Ridell is caring towards the furbabies along with their parents.  She has treated all my animals, 3 cats and a dog.  At the age of twenty my baby girl was in pain and on her way out.  They gave her dignity and love in her last moments.  My other pets have had nothing but the best care from her.  My other cats I bought back from Guam.  one with severe tooth disease which had been getting treatment for 3 years.  The other has severe feline asthma and takes daily medication to keep it in check.  Needless to say I'm at the vet more than others and have been to many many different vets trying to get the best possible treatment for my babies.  The search stopped when I found furry friends and Dr. Ridell. Very affordable.We brought our cat here to get spayed and it was $10 .I was very upset with the fact I didn't get to meet the vet before hand and that no one went over the procedure with me.We went back a week later for her shots,she was given to shots to cover multiple things and medicine for hookworm prevention it was about $80 for all. The BEST Animal Hospital in the area...... We have been using them for a year now.... The staff is awesome!!! Doc is GREAT, couldn't ask for a more down to earth Vet that cares for the animals as her own. Very Passionate about her work. I would and have recommended them to family and friends. As a breeder of Boxers, they have taken care of 3 litters of our puppies and all of our rescues and personal cats. Will not use any other Vet in the area at all!!! Read Less

BEST VET EVER!  The whole staff clearly love what they do and will go out of their way to make your pet comfy... not an easy thing. They deal with rescues  (they are the vet for PAWS in Belle Chasse...ALSO a wonderful place), so have a lot of experience with scared or unruly dogs and will do everything they can to allow for your pet's needs. I have nothing but gratitude for the way they handled my dog who has had issues with other vets in the past. Dr. Marcia talked to him, played with him, gave him pets, made him relax and feel at ease before giving him his shots...SHE ALSO did her exam on the floor as he does NOT like being put up on a table, surely uncomfortable for her, but much easier for him.
