I don't know where to start. They are so much more than "just" a vet. Kelly Chapman has been my vet for about 20 years now and he's been with me while I raised my Kerry Blue Terrier, Aran. Every time there was an issue, or a question, he not just fixed it /answered it, he educated me about my dog.
When we got a Giant Schnauzer, to give my Kerry someone to play with, he was there with all the puppy things. He was also there when our Giant unexpectedly ate something in the yard and passed away. He's was there with my baby girl, when she passed away and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Now, we have 2 Giants and they love going to the vet.
Dr. Dunn is now on staff too and she is awesome.
My dogs love her just as much as Doc. I do too!

Dr. Dunn is hands down amazing, as is the rest of the staff at River Road. I met her at a different vet clinic a few years ago and eventually sought her out again because of the excellent personable care that she gave all of my cats. I am so glad that I did, because everyone that I have interacted with at River Toad is so friendly and helpful. Dr. Dunn is the perfect combination of genuine care and knowledge. She always knows how to solve any issues that have come up with my cats over the years, and goes out of her way to thoroughly explain the thought process and science of her suggestions. My cats will be her patients for life!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Everyone is so warm and personable, I feel like family (hokey but true!). Dr. Dunn is a cat whisperer! She puts my cat at ease, and both Jose and William have helped her, and my cat likes them both too! It can be so stressful to bring my cat to the vet because I don't want her to be scared, but here I don't worry about that at all. Regina at the front desk is always so sweet and welcoming that I'm at ease as soon as I walk in. Five stars!

The doctor, his tech and the woman at the front desk were awesome! I made a follow up appointment and a few days later needed to reschedule. I called in Saturday and the Drs daughter said no problem and supposedly cancelled my Monday appointment and set the new appointment for Thursday morning.
When I showed up thursday there was no appointment for my pup and my previous appointment had not been cancelled. The receptionist told me that they had called but my mobile data was turned off so there was no message. Unfortunate turn of events but they get 4 stars nevertheless.

Dr Kelly Chapman was my vet for equine for years. When I was dating/ living with an ex ( Nick Gonzales in Bridge City) Dr. Chapman would come to our barn and not only take care of the horses we owned and boarded but our cows and dogs. There was not a better Vet than Kelly I'm so blessed to have had him as my Vet and still blessed knowing that he is still in practice.

Dr. Dunn is the best. Dr. Chapman is fabulous. Dr. Dunn will treat your animal like it is her own. Really. This year, when my cat had a horrible seizure that should have killed him, Dr. Chapman met us at the office himself and started treatment to end the seizure--helping to calm my husband and myself as well! The seizure wouldn't stop and Dr. Dunn came in later. She even took our boy home with her overnight to be sure to watch him and make sure he was ok through the night. Since then she has been determined and diligent about getting his difficult diabetes under control. She goes way above and beyond what one might expect from your vet. You really can't ask for more in your veterinary care. They are both all about your pet's health. Dr. Dunn has been my vet since before Katrina--so I knew the quality care she could provide since before she started with River Road--she has cared for several of my feline children. I followed her to River Road. You really won't find a more caring, thoughtful, intelligent and professional doctor for your pets.

I recently moved to the area and I was in need of a vet for my three dogs. When I arrived for dog's appointment we were a little early so the helpful receptionist showed us around. The vet keeps a wide range of dogs, horses, chickens, and pigs. It was awesome to see all the animals! Then the vet took great care of my four-legged child. My dog was relaxed and he showed me how to clean his teeth at home instead of charging me hundreds to do it for me. The vet is very knowledgeable and caring. He took the time to talk to us and talked us through everything he was doing to our dog. He was so down to earth and has a true passion for all animals. I am so excited I picked the right vet and I can't wait to bring my other dogs in to meet the wonderful staff!

Dr. Chapman is just wonderful. When my old lab became suddenly very sick, Dr. Chapman helped me carry him to an old picnic table in the yard where there were horses and chickens...it was a beautiful and peaceful day. He put my sweet old dog to sleep without having to bring her into the clinic. It was so sad but in this setting it was better than I could have ever planned. Recently, a neighbor's dog attacked my cat and I was so upset but he took her in and quickly got her comfortable even though she had a punctured lung. I am happy to say that she has made a full recovery. I always feel like I am visiting old friends when I visit the clinic. I don't ever feel like I am being pressured to have any procedures run on my animals like I have felt at other clinics. Dr. Chapman is like an old fashioned vet who is just interested in good and simple care for my animals. I love the way I can bring in my horse, my dogs or my cat and know they all get great care!!!

After Phatty took ill, I was referral referred to Dr. chapman by my neighbor. Now I wouldn't dare trust Phatty's care to any other Dr. Dr. Chapman is caring, gentle, extremely knowledgeable and professional in his care. His staff is very very accommodating even with last minute emergency appointments. I highly recommend River Road to anyone who loves their pets as much as I love My Phatty!!

Truly as good as it gets. Both Dr. Chapman and Dr. Milazzo are caring, attentive, and "hands-on" veterinarians - the trend these days is to have vet techs do as much work as possible and to limit actual vet time to the bare minimum, but River Road does things the good, old-fashioned way.I brought in all three of our dogs and Dr. Chapman focused 100% on each dog in turn, never mixing up their names or calling a "he" a "she" - it may not sound like much, but it shows me that he's paying complete attention to that animal. After the necessary tests were done (and no unnecessary tests - a very important detail!) he gave us all a tour of the clinic, where we met chickens, horses, Italian greyhounds, and the cute mixed-breed dogs who work as blood donors in exchange for what must be the best life a dog could have.I am grateful that it didn't take me long to discover River Road Veterinary Hospital (we've lived in NOLA for 2+ years) and that we found them before any major need occurred. Now we can go out of town with every confidence that our animals will be well cared for if any veterinary needs arise during our absence. I feel like we've won the veterinarian lottery!!

I'm SURE if you run or bike on the levee, you've gone by this place. Bright yellow building, horse stables, it's next door to that big flea market. (Jeff.playground across street) SO- After biking by a ton and seeing how they take such good care of the horses, roosters, random goat...I decided they could handle my cat. (They're a large & small animal vet clinic).They got me in the SAME AFTERNOON I called and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't nearly as costly as I feared. Dr. Chapman is awesome and it felt more like being at a country doctor's house and not some huge, impersonal clinic. Vet tech lives upstairs which made me feel even better- not that I need to stop by at 2 a.m. but it's just reassuring. They told me I could stop by and pet the horses, lab puppies, or 'kid' goat whenever I was biking by! Yeah hoo cause I will!

This is by far the best vet ever. We have had him take care of about ten of our dogs over the years. He loves the animals as his own and that make a difference in his treatments. He even makes visits to our family business to check on our "guard" dog who has allergies and many ear infections. It is always a very much appreciated surprise when he shows up to clean his ears! We love our dogs but do not always have the time to bring them in but no matter what Dr. chapman makes sure he's healthy. I wouldn't bring my pets anywhere else!

My son and I love to visit his office because he always has some interesting animal in his care - a box of chimney sweeps, a mama Italian Greyhound and her pups, and the last time, 2 miniature horses! Is he the cheapest in town? I doubt it, but he is the best. He has been treating our animals for over 10 years and his staff is great.

Dr. Dunn is hands down amazing, as is the rest of the staff at River Road. I met her at a different vet clinic a few years ago and eventually sought her out again because of the excellent personable care that she gave all of my cats. I am so glad that I did, because everyone that I have interacted with at River Toad is so friendly and helpful. Dr. Dunn is the perfect combination of genuine care and knowledge. She always knows how to solve any issues that have come up with my cats over the years, and goes out of her way to thoroughly explain the thought process and science of her suggestions. My cats will be her patients for life!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Everyone is so warm and personable, I feel like family (hokey but true!). Dr. Dunn is a cat whisperer! She puts my cat at ease, and both Jose and William have helped her, and my cat likes them both too! It can be so stressful to bring my cat to the vet because I don't want her to be scared, but here I don't worry about that at all. Regina at the front desk is always so sweet and welcoming that I'm at ease as soon as I walk in. Five stars!

The doctor, his tech and the woman at the front desk were awesome! I made a follow up appointment and a few days later needed to reschedule. I called in Saturday and the Drs daughter said no problem and supposedly cancelled my Monday appointment and set the new appointment for Thursday morning.
When I showed up thursday there was no appointment for my pup and my previous appointment had not been cancelled. The receptionist told me that they had called but my mobile data was turned off so there was no message. Unfortunate turn of events but they get 4 stars nevertheless.

Dr Kelly Chapman was my vet for equine for years. When I was dating/ living with an ex ( Nick Gonzales in Bridge City) Dr. Chapman would come to our barn and not only take care of the horses we owned and boarded but our cows and dogs. There was not a better Vet than Kelly I'm so blessed to have had him as my Vet and still blessed knowing that he is still in practice.

Dr. Dunn is the best. Dr. Chapman is fabulous. Dr. Dunn will treat your animal like it is her own. Really. This year, when my cat had a horrible seizure that should have killed him, Dr. Chapman met us at the office himself and started treatment to end the seizure--helping to calm my husband and myself as well! The seizure wouldn't stop and Dr. Dunn came in later. She even took our boy home with her overnight to be sure to watch him and make sure he was ok through the night. Since then she has been determined and diligent about getting his difficult diabetes under control. She goes way above and beyond what one might expect from your vet. You really can't ask for more in your veterinary care. They are both all about your pet's health. Dr. Dunn has been my vet since before Katrina--so I knew the quality care she could provide since before she started with River Road--she has cared for several of my feline children. I followed her to River Road. You really won't find a more caring, thoughtful, intelligent and professional doctor for your pets.

Dr. Chapman zipped around my Bear's backside and gave him an injection so quickly Bear didn't even notice. He and his assistant also managed to treat his ears for good 5 minutes to cure his ails. I recently moved to the area and I was in need of a vet for my three dogs. When I arrived for dog's appointment we were a little early so the helpful receptionist showed us around. The vet keeps a wide range of dogs, horses, chickens, and pigs. It was awesome to see all the animals! Then the vet took great care of my four-legged child. My dog was relaxed and he showed me how to clean his teeth at home instead of charging me hundreds to do it for me. The vet is very knowledgeable and caring. He took the time to talk to us and talked us through everything he was doing to our dog. He was so down to earth and has a true passion for all animals. I am so excited I picked the right vet and I can't wait to bring my other dogs in to meet the wonderful staff!

Dr. Chapman is just wonderful. When my old lab became suddenly very sick, Dr. Chapman helped me carry him to an old picnic table in the yard where there were horses and chickens...it was a beautiful and peaceful day. He put my sweet old dog to sleep without having to bring her into the clinic. It was so sad but in this setting it was better than I could have ever planned. Recently, a neighbor's dog attacked my cat and I was so upset but he took her in and quickly got her comfortable even though she had a punctured lung. I am happy to say that she has made a full recovery. I always feel like I am visiting old friends when I visit the clinic. I don't ever feel like I am being pressured to have any procedures run on my animals like I have felt at other clinics. Dr. Chapman is like an old fashioned vet who is just interested in good and simple care for my animals. I love the way I can bring in my horse, my dogs or my cat and know they all get great care!!!

I recently moved here from Houston with my English Bulldog Phat Daddy. Because of his breed and their known issues, I was very hesitant about trusting his care to just any old vet. After Phatty took ill, I was referral referred to Dr. chapman by my neighbor. Now I wouldn't dare trust Phatty's care to any other Dr. Dr. Chapman is caring, gentle, extremely knowledgeable and professional in his care. His staff is very very accommodating even with last minute emergency appointments. I highly recommend River Road to anyone who loves their pets as much as I love My Phatty!!

Truly as good as it gets. Both Dr. Chapman and Dr. Milazzo are caring, attentive, and "hands-on" veterinarians - the trend these days is to have vet techs do as much work as possible and to limit actual vet time to the bare minimum, but River Road does things the good, old-fashioned way.I brought in all three of our dogs and Dr. Chapman focused 100% on each dog in turn, never mixing up their names or calling a "he" a "she" - it may not sound like much, but it shows me that he's paying complete attention to that animal. After the necessary tests were done (and no unnecessary tests - a very important detail!) he gave us all a tour of the clinic, where we met chickens, horses, Italian greyhounds, and the cute mixed-breed dogs who work as blood donors in exchange for what must be the best life a dog could have.I am grateful that it didn't take me long to discover River Road Veterinary Hospital (we've lived in NOLA for 2+ years) and that we found them before any major need occurred. Now we can go out of town with every confidence that our animals will be well cared for if any veterinary needs arise during our absence. I feel like we've won the veterinarian lottery!!

I'm SURE if you run or bike on the levee, you've gone by this place. Bright yellow building, horse stables, it's next door to that big flea market. (Jeff.playground across street) SO- After biking by a ton and seeing how they take such good care of the horses, roosters, random goat...I decided they could handle my cat. (They're a large & small animal vet clinic).They got me in the SAME AFTERNOON I called and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't nearly as costly as I feared. Dr. Chapman is awesome and it felt more like being at a country doctor's house and not some huge, impersonal clinic. Vet tech lives upstairs which made me feel even better- not that I need to stop by at 2 a.m. but it's just reassuring. They told me I could stop by and pet the horses, lab puppies, or 'kid' goat whenever I was biking by! Yeah hoo cause I will!

This is by far the best vet ever. We have had him take care of about ten of our dogs over the years. He loves the animals as his own and that make a difference in his treatments. He even makes visits to our family business to check on our "guard" dog who has allergies and many ear infections. It is always a very much appreciated surprise when he shows up to clean his ears! We love our dogs but do not always have the time to bring them in but no matter what Dr. chapman makes sure he's healthy. I wouldn't bring my pets anywhere else!

My son and I love to visit his office because he always has some interesting animal in his care - a box of chimney sweeps, a mama Italian Greyhound and her pups, and the last time, 2 miniature horses! Is he the cheapest in town? I doubt it, but he is the best. He has been treating our animals for over 10 years and his staff is great.
