Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital is one of the longest established veterinary hospitals in Lafayette, Louisiana and our small animal practice provides a full range of general medical and surgical services as well as specialized treatments.

Back in 2012 I brought both of my dogs to this place. I loved Dr. Griggs and Dr. Gaines. I had no problems with the current vet until April of 2018. I brought my dog in to be checked and took her home limping. I called and was told it was because she fights being sedated and fights coming out of sedation. I'm sorry, but how does that cause a dog to limp? Someone either hurt her or god forbid dropped her and of course never told me. Well fast forward to a month later. ...Suddenly my dog can't get up or walk. I had to drag her around the house and drag her outside to go potty. There was something wrong with her back. I originally blamed the medication she was on because it does have horrible side effects, but after researching more and talking to people in the medical field i'm believing something happened to her back. Anyway, because of her poor quality of life I made the heartbreaking decision to have her euthanized because as much as I wanted to think it would go away I could not let her suffer. Never once did the vet or the vet techs say sorry for your loss or i'm sorry this happened. I have since taken her brother there 2 times for a different issue. Both times I was told it wasn't allergies it was something else. I have since gone to another vet. My dog was diagnosed with food allergies, taken off all dog food, the ointment and shampoo I was told he needed. He has been put on a diet of scrambled eggs for breakfast and white rice and chicken for supper. For snacks he can have frozen green beans and carrots. I can't take back what has happened, but I can tell others my story so they can make their own decision. Afficher la suite

I love this place my animals receive wonderful care when we bring them in. I like the reminders they send and the drop off service works great with my work schedule!! Plus I like to board them there where Ms Darlene takes such good care of them and they are freshly bathed with nails trimmed when I pick them up. Dr. Fontenot and Dr. Broussard are the best in town.

I have to change my review from a previous 5 (when dr griggs had the office) to a 1. Terrible customer service. Constantly new vet techs that you have to remind of the little things. As a previously loyal customer to Dr griggs, I was giving the new vet a chance. After 7 years, we are moving vets. I do not tolerate the way they handle their animals and their customers. Avoid at all costs. Dr Fontenot has now lost 3 of Dr Griggs loyal customers.

I've never had one tell me you have to pay for first treatment before they would compleat the treatments, knowing the pet would die without them. NEVER bring your fur babies to this clinic. If I could give them a zero I would.

I needed an emergency appointment for my little shih tzu mix, and they were able to see him a few hours after I called! The entire staff is wonderful, friendly, sweet, & showed my dog lots of love. They made sure I fully understood my dog's health issues and made sure I understood the treatment he needed. They went through and explained each line of the bill to me and never charged excessively or for anything my dog didn't need. I'm so thankful for this office! :)

Very happy with my first visit today with my basset hound Fred! He's been sick for months and vet bills are overwhelming when you have to go to the vet several times consecutively! Bertrand Animal Hospital was the only vet clinic within 50 miles willing to work on a payment plan for me. They are not lying when they say no pet gets turned away! The vet techs were also very helpful, even did his nails for me while we were waiting on the vet! I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely the best vet that we have been to. The ladies in the front and the doctors know my dog by name. They're sweet, and understand how to deal with scared animals, as my dog always is when we take him to the vet. Their meds are inexpensive as well. We transferred our dog from a much less expensive but poorly reviewed and tempered vet here in town and have never looked back. They are awesome and worth our extra couple of bucks.Dr. Griggs and Margaret at the front desk are the best.

I LOVE Dr. Griggs & the staff at Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital, so much so, that now my Mom & sister bring their dogs. Dr. Griggs is one of a kind! I brought my dogs today & I truly feel the love he has for the animals. The first time I brought them in he literally got on his hands & knees to play with them!! I fell in love! He is always happy to answer in detail any questions I have & makes me feel ok, even when I feel like I'm being the crazy dog mom. I highly, highly recommend Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital! I also love the staff. They have all been so nice & remember me & my dogs. From the biggest appointments, yearly vaccinations, to the smallest, nail-trims, they take complete care & give the best treatment, I never have to wait long & I wouldn't mind if I did, because Dr. Grigg's care is worth the wait!

Not the worst experience of my life but definitely not the best. I was born and raised in south Louisiana, true Cajun. This is far from the southern hospitality I'm accustomed to seeing... Maybe I caught them on a bad day?First, they only have one doctor on staff and you can expect to wait upwards of thirty minutes to see him in the waiting area. The lady behind the counter doesn't really want to know you or why you're there and her attitude sucked... The visit felt very rushed especially after discovering my dog had heart worms. We rescued this dog not know he had the heart worms and were genuinely concerned for his health. I really didn't feel like they cared about our furry little friend. I'm not saying they have to personally care but on some level that is what vets are suppose to do, CARE for you pet... I would look elsewhere.Update: We took our pet to a vet in Texas and were informed that the heart worm treatment method they wanted to use here was outdated and dangerous.

I needed an emergency appointment for my little shih tzu mix, and they were able to see him a few hours after I called! The entire staff is wonderful, friendly, sweet, & showed my dog lots of love. They made sure I fully understood my dog's health issues and made sure I understood the treatment he needed. They went through and explained each line of the bill to me and never charged excessively or for anything my dog didn't need. I'm so thankful for this office! :)

Very happy with my first visit today with my basset hound Fred! He's been sick for months and vet bills are overwhelming when you have to go to the vet several times consecutively! Bertrand Animal Hospital was the only vet clinic within 50 miles willing to work on a payment plan for me. They are not lying when they say no pet gets turned away! The vet techs were also very helpful, even did his nails for me while we were waiting on the vet! I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely the best vet that we have been to. The ladies in the front and the doctors know my dog by name. They're sweet, and understand how to deal with scared animals, as my dog always is when we take him to the vet. Their meds are inexpensive as well. We transferred our dog from a much less expensive but poorly reviewed and tempered vet here in town and have never looked back. They are awesome and worth our extra couple of bucks.Dr. Griggs and Margaret at the front desk are the best.

I LOVE Dr. Griggs & the staff at Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital, so much so, that now my Mom & sister bring their dogs. Dr. Griggs is one of a kind! I brought my dogs today & I truly feel the love he has for the animals. The first time I brought them in he literally got on his hands & knees to play with them!! I fell in love! He is always happy to answer in detail any questions I have & makes me feel ok, even when I feel like I'm being the crazy dog mom. I highly, highly recommend Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital! I also love the staff. They have all been so nice & remember me & my dogs. From the biggest appointments, yearly vaccinations, to the smallest, nail-trims, they take complete care & give the best treatment, I never have to wait long & I wouldn't mind if I did, because Dr. Grigg's care is worth the wait!

Not the worst experience of my life but definitely not the best. I was born and raised in south Louisiana, true Cajun. This is far from the southern hospitality I'm accustomed to seeing... Maybe I caught them on a bad day?First, they only have one doctor on staff and you can expect to wait upwards of thirty minutes to see him in the waiting area. The lady behind the counter doesn't really want to know you or why you're there and her attitude sucked... The visit felt very rushed especially after discovering my dog had heart worms. We rescued this dog not know he had the heart worms and were genuinely concerned for his health. I really didn't feel like they cared about our furry little friend. I'm not saying they have to personally care but on some level that is what vets are suppose to do, CARE for you pet... I would look elsewhere.Update: We took our pet to a vet in Texas and were informed that the heart worm treatment method they wanted to use here was outdated and dangerous.
