My cat, Tango, and I are new to the area. The first time we tried to take him he freaked out. Did not want to get into the carrier. Dr. Carson, the elder, called and gave me some tips The second time we were successful getting there. We were so lucky to draw Dr Carson, the younger, who is a cat lover himself. The visit was wonderful. He medicated his ears, applied Revolution, and clipped his nails. Tango stayed calm throughout the visit. Everyone in the clinic is professional, personable, friendly and caring. We will definitely be going back and recommending this clinic to everyone we meet. Kudos to a first class operation! I've never seen any of the other vets here, but Dr. Schmidt is hands down one of the best vets I've ever been to. I've worked with him both personally with my pets and professionally (I work at a pet store). He deals extremely well with exotics (the best in lafayette in my opinion). He always has an idea or solution for everything and tries his hardest to take care of your pets. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating. I've never had a bad experience with this vet. This is the first vet's office I've brought my dog to that she doesn't stiffen up and start shaking upon entering the building. A very relaxed setting helps her relax. Extremely helpful and thorough! 5 stars!!!! If I could give them 100 stars I would!!! I love everything about this place! From the second you walk into the door you are greeted by the most welcoming staff. When I thought my baby cat had no hope Dr. Gregory walked me through the road to recovery! He and his staff were not only patient with my cat, who was miserable when I first brought him in, but they were even more patient with my frantic self. Dr. Gregory and the team of Doctors went above and beyond to get Louie better. Louie is back home and back to his normal self. Anyone who knows me knows my bunnies are actually my children. Our Butters had a difficult neutering surgery last Monday and was brought in again yesterday due to excessive drooling all down his body. Thanks to our awesome vet Dr. Gregory Schmidt, who found that there was a piece of lettuce wrapped around the base of Butters's tongue, we were able to bring him back home yesterday with some meds to help the pain. He is definitely showing us that he is feeling much better and is finally eating his hay and drinking water again! Butters doesn't like to be held so it is very difficult for us to give him his medicine, but without Dr. Schmidt and my helicopter Mom mode, this could've possibly been a very difficult Christmas for us. Yesterday was one of the saddest and most difficult days of my life. Saying goodbye to a beloved family pet is almost unbearable but necessary when they are suffering and no pill, surgery, shot or most importantly their master who they've always looked to to fix them can't. I want to thank Dr. Jim Carson personally for his honesty, compassion, professionalism, and general good nature in helping me through this difficult time. I want to thank the entire staff who had to witness a grown man sob when the time came and reacted with hugs and genuine well wishes. I've been seeing this vet for months now. I wish I would have gone sooner. We've brought our 13 yr old dachshund in on several occasions. Both Carson Sr. and Jr. are GREAT vets that CARE. On all 4-5 occasions, we were treated with respect and it was very evident that both doctors and their nursing staff CARE about their jobs and taking care of their clients and their animals. In the most recent case, Our dachshund came back from boarding at a vet that I was skeptical about. We were going on vacation with family who need boarding for their dogs so we took all animals to that vet for boarding. After a week of boarding, he came back with what we now know is a bacterial and fungal infection. We were given meds, there were tests taken and there was a diagnosis given that was accurate. A week later (today), the DOCTOR called back personally to inform us that the dog's samples from testing were sent off to a third party who confirmed the diagnosis. My wife was extremely impressed with this. We've been to 3 vets prior to Carson and were not satisfied. Carson is more than satisfactory; both doctors are professional. It's hard to describe their treatment of animals- it's better to just say that they care and will do whatever necessary to help your animal- WITHOUT charging you unfairly. Financially, there pricing for care is VERY competitive and extremely fair. Thanks, Doctors and Nurses at Carson!EDIT: After speaking with the boarding vet, their indifference toward our plight was very evident. We had no interest in taking our animal back over there. A special thanks to the physicians and staff at Carson. Over the last few years we have used them for both of our dogs. One of them needed a major surgery three years ago and Dr. Carson did an excellent job. Sparky was back to his old self soon afterwards. Every time Sparky was sick Dr. Carson correctly diagnosed the problem and with treatment he was well soon after. Today, age and his condition finally caught up with him. Dr. Carson helped us to decide to run a test to confirm what we suspected and after consultation with us, we decided on what was best for Sparky to end his suffering. All of the doctor's there came to see him, having treated him at one time or another. Sparky had a full and happy life for 16 years. They took excellent care of him throughout his life. Carson's Veterinary Clinic has cared for two of my pets. I have always found the clinic to be professional and caring. Three of the vets have examined and treated my dogs, and besides being gentle and thorough, each spent extra time with me explaining the treatments and discussing my concerns. I have always been pleasantly surprised at the personal time I am given for each appointment. My dog Ellie has boarded with Carson's and that, too, has been a positive experience. Dr. Carson and his staff are exceptional! Our 6 year old shi-poo, Sammi, was a patient there since she was 6 weeks old when we got her. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a kidney disease and passed away this past April. However, during the course of her treatment, Dr. Schmidt, another doctor over there, and his staff were extremely caring to Sammi and treated her just as she was their own. We had to make multiple visits on a weekly basis and every time we walked in the door, they welcomed her with open arms, talked to her and hugged her just as I did on a daily basis. No doubt that Sammi felt loved when she was there:) Dr. Schmidt would call me personally after each treatment to give me an update and was always so supportive and honest with me. We had to give her injections at home which we had a difficult time doing but with everyone's encouragement and support, it became second nature to us. He will do whats necessary to help you and your pet..He tried to everything he could to save my little bit but I know some times you have to let go.. Dr. Carson is very friendly and a very good vet. I've brought my dog to him once in the past but I've decided to go with an AAHA accredited vet in the area just because it makes me feel more comfortable. Dr. Carson performed a miracle on a puppy my dog had had that suddenly became paralyzed and blind. After a couple days on medication he was as good as new. Amazing!
