St Francis Veterinary Hospital

Lafayette, Louisiana
General Info
St Francis Veterinary Hospital is proud to be part of the Lafayette, LA business community and to support its residents. Families in Lafayette witness St Francis Veterinary Hospital’s animal care techniques aimed at ensuring pets across Louisiana can easily identify the repetitive actions triggered by minimalistic approaches. The way the appointment room is set up is identical every day (the same location of furniture, lighting, and doors) to avoid unnecessary decision-making. Personnel utilize low tones of voice while limiting their body movements to small arcs and pausing between each step of the procedure to give the animal time to become accustomed. “Smell” is also on the list: they prevent scents from layering by neutralizing them between visits. Pet orientation patterns enable the toy to sit either close or further away from the child. St. Francis Veterinary Hospital provides diagnostic services, infection management, joint health evaluation, nutritional adjustments, behavioral consultation, and recovery tracking. Instead of a checklist. When the animal turns or lowers its ears, they go back to basics by gently repeating the motions, which include “stroking” motions in the air or with a towel/sleeve (for tactile anchoring). The post-care protocols involve rhythm-based reintegration. Caregivers are trained on how to maintain the steady morning routine and ambient sound use for regulating sleep cycles at home. The instructions secure a pet’s environment to facilitate the transition back home in such a manner that the animal does not feel disoriented. St Francis Veterinary Hospital extends its services from Lafayette to the neighboring Louisiana areas. It offers animal care under natural regulation in gentle rhythms, predictable spaces, and low-noise decisions. Popular services offered include diagnostics, pain management, bloodwork, mobile vet services, parasite prevention, deworming, nutrition counseling and boarding. Additionally, wellness exams and blood pressure monitoring are available. Whether it is an ongoing wellness program or a complicated medical condition, the hospital ensures pet owners’ confidence through good communication and quality standards. The team is committed to continuous growth and community involvement so that pets in Lafayette and the United States as a whole have access to quality services.

On last Saturday I went to St. Francis because Bailey, my toy poodle, was having seizures on and off from late Friday night until I arrived at St. Francis. This was my first time going to St. Francis. When I went inside,I could barely talk to the receptionist because I was so scared. The receptionist took Bailey immediately and calm me down. Everyone was so understanding and sympathetic to me while working quickly and thoroughly with Bailey. After they let her go home in a better condition she went in, they call me to check in on her. I’m so glad I chose St. Francis. They are the best and I am forever thankful to them. Read Less

I do not have a pet but was sitting in the waiting room with my girlfriend and her dog when a woman came in with her dachshund. The girl came up to get the dog for whatever it was there for squated down on the floor and talked to the dog the d9g tried to bite her so she asked the owner of the dog to pick it up and hand it to her rear end first 3 times. Instead of doing that the woman acted like she didnt know how to handle her own dog barely picked it up off of the floor and mostly just slid it across to the girl turning it's head around at the last minute causing the girl to get bitten. The gurl still carried on with her job even smiled and said yeh, she can bite sometimes that's why I asked if you could pick her up and hand her to me rear end first. If it was me who had just gotten bit I would not have been so nice. I wasn't going to leave a review until I saw the woman who's dog bit that girl had the nerve to complain about how her dog was treated. The dog was not carried uncaringly at all even after it had just attacked that girl and she absolutely didn't approach it aggressively!!!!! Some people are unbelievable! You can't control your own dog and it bites someone and you have the nerve to complain?! After the patience and professionalism I saw this morning from the staff at this place I would highlu recommend them. Read Less

St. Francis is only in business because they overcharge their clients.  For the past two years I have slowly realized this and I cannot believe it went on this long.  I'd like to highlight some of their impeccable work for you now:1) The brunette, younger, heavier front desk girl is ALWAYS rude. She contradicted things I knew to be fact. After 2 years of hands on experience at a no-kill shelter, I knew the bordatella vaccine does not need to be given to an adult dog twice a year.  If that dog does not frequent dog parks or boarding facilities, it is only necessary annually.  This girl constantly tried to "correct" me on things like this and the best part is that she's not even a vet tech. She's their front desk person.  I have a photo of her from Facebook.  2)  On top of being over vaccinated for bordatella, my dog was subjected to "semi-annual" fecal tests and physical exams.   Again, an adult dog doesn't need this.  AND they were not performing adequate exams.  No ear checks with an otoscope, no checking her teeth, no checking mobility.  I paid for them to listen to her heartbeat every six months.  3) I only saw a doctor TWICE in two years and they were different doctors. No consistency with tech staff either.  Always different people saying different things.  4) When I brought my newly adopted dog to them to get her in the system, I handed them a folder with all of her recorded vaccines up to that point.  They took it from me, and a few minutes later, gave it back.  Each time I received reminders for my older dog, I wondered when I would get a call about the puppy.  I could have sworn I had brought her in for something but I couldn't quite recall.  It wasn't until I decided to switch vets recently, that St. Francis NEVER put any of my puppy's vaccines from the shelter into their system.  The chart they sent my new vet had nothing but her spay and me purchasing heartgard.  So, all that detailed information they took from me never made it to their computers.   How, in the hell could they not think that they should inquire about this other dog they have that hasn't been in to see the vet in over a year?!  But the other dog is going every six months?!  The front desk people seriously worry me.  They are responsible for so much and I was supposed to trust them with my dogs' care and records and they just don't THINK.  Now, I'm playing catch up with my other dog and even though she is clearly very healthy in spite of being past due for some vaccines, I am still enraged that I am once again, having to clean up after incompetent people. I am available for a phone call if anyone thinks my experience was fabricated.  I have so many people to back up all of these claims.  I am a real person.  I live in Lafayette and I am not the average pet owner.  I know more. St. Francis thought I didn't.  Now, they know better. Read Less
