Cypress Point Animal Hospital has provided spectacular care to my animals for over ten years. Dr. Pfister is an amazing and dedicated veterinarian. His staff is friendly and hard-working, and their fees are very reasonable. As every pet owner knows, the joy of owning a pet is also accompanied by the pain of losing one. Dr. Pfister and his staff were very compassionate, understanding, and consoling when I lost my elderly dog last year. They worked tirelessly to keep him alive just so that I could be prepared when the time came to let him go. I am forever grateful for that. More recently, my new puppy required major emergency surgery. Dr. Pfister performed the procedure on a Saturday afternoon. He personally called me Saturday night and Sunday morning to inform me of the pup's condition, and to reassure me that the pup was going to be fine. Their commitment to animals is unsurpassed (and the $10.00 baths are the best deal in town!!). Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!! This is long but worth the read- I used to bring my dog here for grooming and sometimes boarding a couple times when our family went out of town. Every time I would pick my dog up he always seemed sick almost. And he was not playful, very down, didn€t want me to pick him up-very different from when I would drop my dog off. I didn€t think too much of it at the time. At one point my dog had gotten a little sicker than usual, nothing fatal, but we brought back him to Cypress to see what they could do. When they brought him out to us he was like a zombie. They assured us he was just tired and needed rest. When we brought him home he could barely move and could barely walk. He just sat up with a glazed look in his eyes, though they could barely open. We could tell something was wrong so we tried to pick him up to comfort him, but he would yell out when we tried to touch him, like it was painful for him. It wasn€t even a yell, but a mixture of crying and a loud moaning from the pain. We were trying to lightly pet him to comfort him, but we knew something was wrong so we immediately wrapped him up to bring him to the vet emergency care on Florida St. On the way there he started convulsing and it would happen every few minutes. When we arrived the staff immediately took him in, they were so great to us. They kept my family in a private waiting room. Eventually they came back and informed us that he had had so many seizures that at that point he was brain dead and there was nothing left to do but say our goodbyes. They brought him back wrapped in a blanket, still seizing as I picked him up crying to give him one last hug goodbye before they put him to sleep. It was a very traumatic experience for my entire family. It was not until about a year later when we decided we wanted another puppy to join our family. At the time, I never really thought it was Cypress Point€s fault for my dog€s death. My family kept saying they over medicated him, but I didn€t really believe it. so I brought our new puppy back to them. Whenever I dropped him off he never wanted to go in, he seemed scared. And one time when I came to pick him up, he had BLOOD coming from his anus! Under what situation would that EVER occur? I started to tell some friends and acquaintances and what I heard back was more horror stories of their own. People actually call this place CAMP AUSCHWITZ because of how horrible their pets have been treated. One lady even told me her dog contracted Hepatitis from Cypress Point. So that was the last straw. I started to take my dog to Northlake Veterinary Hospital on HWY 59 and they are absolutely AMAZING. My dog actually runs to the door with his tail wagging in excitement because the staff there are all super compassionate and very sweet towards the animals they care for. I have been so happy with them and so has my dog, who is completely healthy! Please please please don€t make the same mistake I did by bringing my pets to Cypress Point. I was told one price prior to a procedure and when it came time to pay, I was surprised with a 75% increase on my invoice. I have notices other comments stating similar issues. The groomer here is a complete joke and should not be employed as one.I took my cat in for a groom. She is a long haired cat that requires sedation to be groomed and cleaned so I am not able to do it. When I got her back I noticed that her butt was not clean. Having been a groomer for a while in my younger years I knew this should not be the case and I would have probably been fired for sending a cat home the way mine was. I called and they had me come back the next day to drop her off again. When I picked her up they made up some BS story as to why the cleaning had not been done and told me that she had a very red and sore rear. I ended up having to pay for the whole thing over again and actually was charged MORE than I was the day before because they sent me home with a $27 tube of ointment for her "red and sore rear". I get home and check her rear. It was much cleaner this time but not 100%. There was absolutely no redness which I already knew. I asked for a second opinion from my brother-in-law in case I was losing my mind and just could not see it. Nope, he saw no redness or sore area whatsoever. There was nothing wrong at all. I didn't need the cream and did not use it. The whole red and sore butt story was made up to cover the bad groom job.$205 total for a groom. Actually it wasn't even a groom. It was a basic hygiene cut. They shaved  part of her belly and around her rear. That was it.Give me a break. Unbelievable! Read Less

His receptionist was so nice and caring, and got us in in an hour! He saved my dogs life!! Literally, she was doing very poorly after not being diagnosed correctly at Northlake and I had to get another opinion. She's only 9. My trip to Cypress point was amazing, and it cost HALF of what they charged me at Northlake. We went there Wednesday morning and she was bleeding from her eyes and mouth and it's Friday now and Mocha is walking around the house wagging her tale. I'm never going any where else! The vet is a good vet; however, their business practices are questionable. On two occasions, the performed services without my prior approval and then charged me twice of what I was originally quoted. The first time, I thought it was an oversight, but the second time I realized that performing unnecessary services and exams on my pets was a customary practice. $1000 dollars later we had a dog with dry skin, and a dog with a sprained leg. I would make sure that they give you a written estimate, and make sure that they call you before they do whatever they want at whatever the cost to you. This is a good vet on the technical and medical aspects; however, their business practices are unethical.  On two occasions, I was billed for treatments that I did not authorize. The first time, I thought it might have been an oversight, but the second time, I realized this is a customary practice.  The first time, my dog who was in for an annual visit, also had hot spots for fleas.  Without my permission or consent they administered fluids to her and gave her an antibiotic (at a $100 or so charge to me), for a dog who was there for a regular check up.  Again, thought there was a misunderstanding or oversight.  The second time, I was quoted $200 for x-rays, and then was presented with a bill for an additional $300 for additional x-rays that they felt needed to be performed because they couldn't determine a break, and without regard for my original quote, because they couldn't find any sign of a fracture.  $1000 on my dogs and I was never once asked if I approved the additional treatments.  That's unacceptable and unethical.  If you go to this vet, just know you're giving them a blank check, and paying for his kids to go to college. I brought my cat in and after $1,000+ I was told he was constipated. About 6 months later my cat was diagnosed with cancer. No options were given to me. I was asked "where did you get this cat?" As if I picked him up off the street and brought him in. I had him for 9 years and got him as a kitten... Read Less

Bad Practice: I will pay what I need to in order to take care of my animals. I am new to Louisiana and this place was right down the street. I wanted to give them a try. It is a clean atmosphere and they seem to get a good bit of traffic. I have been there twice and they have charged me extra costs without getting approval first. I was told one price prior to a procedure and when it came time to pay, I was surprised with a 75% increase on my invoice. I have notices other comments stating similar issues. I do not run my business and treat my customers like this and they will not get my business again. Read Less

Be CAREFUL a ten dollar bath my end up costing 175.00 and a lot of pain for your pet....I would not recommend Cypress Animal Clinic....my dog was taken there for a bath yesterday....something happened during the bath...I wish I could attach a pic....I have no idea what happened, as no one in the practice will admit anything....he had a large red, oozing, spot on his back...they said it was there when I brought him in..NOT !Had to bring the dog back to the see the Vet this morning...he needed a steroid shot and two medications.....that he said I would not be charged for...but I did....I would hope if I had brought my dog in with such a wound. That when they went to bath him they would have called me to informed me of the situation . isn't that what a caring practice should do ??? This practice unethical and has no compassion ... Read Less

Read Less

Amazing!! I went to Cypress point for the first time this week because my dog was on the verge of dying. After being over billed and not properly diagnosed at Northlake we went to Dr. Pfister. Thank you so much for saving my sweet Mocha. There is a special place in heaven for Dr. Pfister. Read Less

At the time you have to pay, it becomes an act of extortion, and I find that unethical.Read Less
