I just moved to the area and MAH was recommended from our boarder. Dr. Ledet was adept at clearing up my puppy's paws which required three visits over four weeks for over $300. We purchased the shots, pills, specialty wipes, spray and powder. That expenditure is not sustainable for our family budget. When I discovered that I could purchase the exact recommended flea, tick and heart worm medicine from Costco and save a third of the cost, I requested the two prescriptions (Nexgard and Sentinel) to take with me and was honest about taking it to Costco. I was lectured about the purity of the product I would receive. Pretty sure if they can handle people prescriptions, they can handle puppy ones; I was not purchasing online or from another country. The substitute vet running the appointments that day remarkably did not have her prescription pad. Odd and inconvenient. I told them I was a hair stylist and that would be the equivalent of me showing up to do a bride's hair without any hair spray or bobby pins. I prepaid the $10 "prescription fee" (which is the veterinary version of a corking fee?) where it would be more streamlined for me to pick up the next day. Again, this was my third visit in four weeks. I returned the next day to get a separate lecture from a different vet tech when I was trying to pick up my prepaid prescription slip. I was told that I should pick up up the Nexgard THAT day because they were going to report Costco for carrying a veterinary only product. The Costco pharmacist laughed when I relayed that message. Again, Costco is nationwide and may have a veterinarian on staff to follow prescription protocol. I wanted to utilize my membership and save my family money. After I waited at MAH for 30 minutes, I was told that they would not guarantee Heartworm efficacy because they claimed not to have the entire vet record I hand carried to them one month prior. I had my previous vet of two years refax their records. I signed the waiver of heartworm accountability to be able to leave without wasting more time.Trying to browbeat grown adults is not a way to maintain customer service or convince us that you really have our best interests at heart. Picked this clinic on a whim simply by reviews and location. Hands down the BEST service I have ever received from an animal hospital. Dr. Ledet and her vet tech really went out of their way to provide personable service. The clinic is clean! Prices were reasonable. My cat had been abused by previous owners and I had never taken her outside of the home, and they were so gentle with her and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. I've been friends with Dr. Liza for quite some time and remember the early days when Mandeville Animal Hospital was under construction and recruitment was under way for the first new patients. I always told Liza if and when I ever lived across the lake, that I would happily transfer over to her the care of my two dogs. Fast forward to the Summer of 2015, and my wife and I finally make the move from Old Metairie to Madisonville. Just a short drive down Highway 22, our two dogs, Sadie and Luigi, have been fully transferred over, and we have been more than happy and thrilled with the work of Dr. Liza and her staff. So far, we have had an annual checkup, teeth cleaning, and spay all done very professionally and without any problems. This is a first-class facility with some of the most friendliest, knowledgable, and kindest staff in town. Dr Ledet is a caring and wonderful veterinarian. MAH really is the little hospital with a big heart. Patients and boarders feel like they are at home, but they are really in a state-of-the-art hospital.
