This facility is the most compassionate group of surgeons and staff. I took my dachshund in yesterday afternoon due the loss of use of his back legs after two weeks of steroid, etc to try for non surgical healing with my local vet. They did a CT scan and was going to do surgery today for a herniated disc. Surgeon called me last night and said he did surgery right away as he was concerned about our dog losing further function. He was so compassionate and caring. I couldn't be more pleased with South Paws. Thank you, thank you for taking care of my fur baby.

I took my rescue baby to South Paws after a very "well-known franchise" Vet Clinic, in Metairie, LA literally "kicked us to the curb" with a dying dog! My dog had lost his back legs. Over 4 days, my personal Vet communicated to this franchise surgical clinic that my dog's spine swelling had subsided, and he needed surgery ASAP to replace tissue that had slipped and blocked his spinal cord signal to his rear legs, as well as the payment check arriving ASAP. They were FULLY AWARE that my dog had been 4 days with this injury, and needed surgery immediately to have any hope of surviving and regaining the use of his rear legs! I advised that I had sold stock to pay for this surgery, and a check was arriving FedEx in 3 days as promised 4 days ago. I even provided proof of the payment arriving. The vet said it was VITAL that she prep for immediate surgery. While she went back to scrub, the Receptionist approached me and said I would have to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY if I was not able to pay for the surgery THAT MOMENT! I provided a telephone number to verify that I was receiving a $3000 Cashier's Check to pay for the surgery as fast as available. She then charged me for a Vet exam and Office visit, and asked me to leave with my dying dog. When I asked what would happen to him if he waited 3 days for the check to arrive for the surgery, they advised he would probably die, and they would be more than happy to dispose of his body! I left with my dog, and sat, crying hysterically in my car while frantically calling every Vet listed on Google in the area (I had just moved there 1 month prior, and was not familiar with all the Vets available to me.) Two hours, and after contacting 8 Vets in the surrounding area, I was finally advised there was only 1 Vet qualified to do this type of surgery...Dr. Bob at South Paws Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Mandeville, LA - approx. 40 minutes away. When I called and explained my situation to the receptionist, she stated, "Bring him here...Dr. Bob will take a look at him, and I am POSITIVE we can help you out!" I found my way to South Paws, Dr. Bob examined my dog, and Dr. Bob looked at me, explained he understood my situation having just moved to the area, got a new job, selling stock to receive the check to pay for the emergency surgery, even though the check would not arrive for 3 days, but he would do my dog's surgery as long as I promised to pay him when my check arrived! He advised he didn't know me, I didn't know him, but he was going to trust me that I was committed to give my "rescue" pup the best chance at a quality life possible, and he would do the surgery (which was needed IMMEDIATELY), but I HAD TO PAY HIM!!! I advised I was a debt collector for 25 years, and I had collected delinquent debt for Veterinarians before, and he could REST ASSURED I WOULD PAY HIS BILL IN FULL, as soon as my stock payment check arrived!!! Dr. Bob called me before I had even returned to my home in Metairie to tell me that Diego had come through the surgery successfully, and he felt his prognosis for a full recovery was "GOOD"!!! Diego DID regain full use of his rear legs, and 3 years later, he is a happy, healthy, shih tzu walking, running and playing with his little playmate (baby brother) Every Day!!! Words cannot express the way I feel about South Paws Veterinary Surgical Specialists, Dr. Bob, and their entire Staff!!! This group of people work at this organization for the LOVE OF PETS, and they work tirelessly FOR YOUR PETS, and their well-being! They do miraculous, state-of-the-art procedures to preserve and save the lives of their animal patients--that would have been a death sentence years ago! Dr. Bob and his Specialists perform miracles EVERY DAY!!! YOUR PET IS IN THE COMPANY OF THE MOST HIGHLY-SKILLED, LOVING, COMPASSIONATE INDIVIDUALS IN THE VETERINARY FIELD AT THIS FACILITY!!! As an animal advocate, I am proud to say I recommend South Paws with NO RESERVATIONS!!! Don't hesitate to use these Specialists should the need arise...YOU ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE VERY BEST!!!

Words escape me as to WHAT CAN EVEN ACCURATELY represent the ANGELS that are present at South Paws Veterinary! As I rescued this baby that had been hit by a car and only option (other than Euth) was surgery! Dr Ledoto's responsiveness (as I was very heartfelt to help this baby) allowed me to feel comfort in knowing South Paws could help her immediately! Upon rescuing her I had an immediate appointment and Dr Bob Hancock, already communicating with Dr Ledoto, knew the specifics and this baby was offered relief from her pain....Having SHATTERED BONES, Dr Hancock rebuilt her hips and the staff there had constant communication in keeping me updated in her treatment....Although, this baby was a rescue that I only had a couple hours prior to taking her to South Paws, the staff and specialist were SOOOO HEARTFELT in knowing my passion in helping her and knew that to me, HER LIFE MATTERED!.....
I actually picked her up following surgery on SUNDAY morning! All the staff knew everything about her and was very helpful! THEY ARE INCREDIBLY CUSTOMER ORIENTED and seem to REALLY LOVE HELPING MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THESE BABIES LIVES!.....I cannot say enough good about my experience there....and when others ask "DID YOU SHOP PRICING AS YOU ARE A RESCUE?" I respond with "NO, because the care and love they provide at South Paws is PRICELESS!" I don't know how to thank Dr. Bob and his staff for all they have done for my German shepherd Red. Red doesn't take well to vets due partly to his bad experience at petsmart years ago. The set up of their office is not like any other Vet we have been to. It's comforting and home like. The staff are all extremely compassionate, caring and respectful. They do around the clock top notch amazing work and I will never bring my boys to another vet for their care!

The ladies in the front office were great. The surgery went well and the rehab specialists helped get my retriever ready to resume training and hunting in 3.5 months. Our Vet referred us to South Paws for our dog, Darla. She couldn't put weight on one of her paws and the vet suspected it was a torn ACL. Dr. Dena , at South Paws, agreed with the diagnosis and Darla's surgery was scheduled for that afternoon. When Dr. Dena started the surgery, she found a mass on the bone and the bone itself had pretty much deteriorated. She immediately called us and told us she suspected cancer. We gave permission for a chest X-ray while she was still sedated to help confirm this diagnosis. After all diagnostics were completed, the cancer was confirmed. We made the hard decision to euthanize. We returned to the clinic and were allowed time with our beloved Darla to say good bye. Dr. Dena sat with us and explained the procedure. When we were ready she helped Darla cross the Rainbow Bridge with us petting her and talking to her as she left. Dr. Dena even kissed Darla's head when it was over. I cannot thank Dr. Dena and the staff at South Paws enough for the care they took of Darla and the compassion they showed us. They helped us through a tough time.

Our sweet frenchie was sent to South Paws for an emergency surgery from Baton Rouge- no one else was available (not even LSU vet school had a surgeon on call) late one night while we were out of town. Dr Bob and his amazing crew didn't hesitate for one second to take on the task!!! Remy was treated with the best care imaginable! The staff and Dr Bob kept us well informed. The direct communication, frequent photos and the love they showed our Remy while we were away made us feel confident in his care and wellbeing!! (Being a nurse in the hospital setting I know how frustrating this can be for families) I will now be driving to Mandeville for all of Remy's healthcare needs!! They truly love their furry patients :)

The staff is smart and kind and puts the animal first. They are very expensive but if you have the money and don't mind driving to the northshore they are the place to go.

We took our Redbone Coonhound, Daisy, to South Paws from Mobile, AL after we rescued her from a County shelter (high kill). She had been sitting in the shelter without any medical care for 8 days prior to her rescue and she was a difficult case, extremely emaciated with a shattered pelvis and very damaged diaphragm. They took excellent care of her, performed two complicated surgeries, and we believe contributed greatly to saving her life. Today, after 4 months, is walking well, happy, and getting stronger everyday. We highly recommend Dr. Hancock and South Paws.

My little Jack was referred to South Paw, after he sustained a fracture in a front leg after a vehicle impact. Jack is my special little guy and the only dog I have ever rescued so I felt a responsibility to get him the best care available. Dr Bob and his amazing staff treated me, my husband and little Jack like family and it made this tough time much easier . I am beyond pleased with his care and also the talent in this office . Jack is only 5 lbs, and the surgery was very technical because of the location of the fracture and his little size. We are now 6 weeks post op. And Jack is doing well beyond our expectations. If it was not for his gnarly scar you would never know 2 months ago he was in a coma in ICU. We will always be grateful for Dr. Bob and all the staff at South Paw.

I came home from work one day and one of my dogs had lost the use of get back legs during the day. I rushed her to my vet office they said she had probably ruptured a disc in her back and that time was very important. The longer she was like this the less likely it was she would ever have use of her legs again. They recommended south paws and said it was the best. I rushed her across the lake immediately. My dog needed a invasive and delicate back surgery. They completed the surgery successfully and fully rehabbed her. This place has underwater doggy treadmills regular treadmills and a whole section of the building and staff dedicated to rehab after their surgery. My dog made several visits for the next few weeks and improved greatly. She needs to be delicate on her back and her legs are a little wobbly but she is in no way handicapped. I was watching her RUN around my back yard a few nights ago and I got emotional and realized I haven't yelped about this place yet. South paws has a professional and careing staff the building is immaculate and they do amazing work

This facility is the most compassionate group of surgeons and staff. I took my dachshund in yesterday afternoon due the loss of use of his back legs after two weeks of steroid, etc to try for non surgical healing with my local vet. They did a CT scan and was going to do surgery today for a herniated disc. Surgeon called me last night and said he did surgery right away as he was concerned about our dog losing further function. He was so compassionate and caring. I couldn't be more pleased with South Paws. Thank you, thank you for taking care of my fur baby.

I took my rescue baby to South Paws after a very "well-known franchise" Vet Clinic, in Metairie, LA literally "kicked us to the curb" with a dying dog! My dog had lost his back legs. Over 4 days, my personal Vet communicated to this franchise surgical clinic that my dog's spine swelling had subsided, and he needed surgery ASAP to replace tissue that had slipped and blocked his spinal cord signal to his rear legs, as well as the payment check arriving ASAP. They were FULLY AWARE that my dog had been 4 days with this injury, and needed surgery immediately to have any hope of surviving and regaining the use of his rear legs! I advised that I had sold stock to pay for this surgery, and a check was arriving FedEx in 3 days as promised 4 days ago. I even provided proof of the payment arriving. The vet said it was VITAL that she prep for immediate surgery. While she went back to scrub, the Receptionist approached me and said I would have to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY if I was not able to pay for the surgery THAT MOMENT! I provided a telephone number to verify that I was receiving a $3000 Cashier's Check to pay for the surgery as fast as available. She then charged me for a Vet exam and Office visit, and asked me to leave with my dying dog. When I asked what would happen to him if he waited 3 days for the check to arrive for the surgery, they advised he would probably die, and they would be more than happy to dispose of his body! I left with my dog, and sat, crying hysterically in my car while frantically calling every Vet listed on Google in the area (I had just moved there 1 month prior, and was not familiar with all the Vets available to me.) Two hours, and after contacting 8 Vets in the surrounding area, I was finally advised there was only 1 Vet qualified to do this type of surgery...Dr. Bob at South Paws Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Mandeville, LA - approx. 40 minutes away. When I called and explained my situation to the receptionist, she stated, "Bring him here...Dr. Bob will take a look at him, and I am POSITIVE we can help you out!" I found my way to South Paws, Dr. Bob examined my dog, and Dr. Bob looked at me, explained he understood my situation having just moved to the area, got a new job, selling stock to receive the check to pay for the emergency surgery, even though the check would not arrive for 3 days, but he would do my dog's surgery as long as I promised to pay him when my check arrived! He advised he didn't know me, I didn't know him, but he was going to trust me that I was committed to give my "rescue" pup the best chance at a quality life possible, and he would do the surgery (which was needed IMMEDIATELY), but I HAD TO PAY HIM!!! I advised I was a debt collector for 25 years, and I had collected delinquent debt for Veterinarians before, and he could REST ASSURED I WOULD PAY HIS BILL IN FULL, as soon as my stock payment check arrived!!! Dr. Bob called me before I had even returned to my home in Metairie to tell me that Diego had come through the surgery successfully, and he felt his prognosis for a full recovery was "GOOD"!!! Diego DID regain full use of his rear legs, and 3 years later, he is a happy, healthy, shih tzu walking, running and playing with his little playmate (baby brother) Every Day!!! Words cannot express the way I feel about South Paws Veterinary Surgical Specialists, Dr. Bob, and their entire Staff!!! This group of people work at this organization for the LOVE OF PETS, and they work tirelessly FOR YOUR PETS, and their well-being! They do miraculous, state-of-the-art procedures to preserve and save the lives of their animal patients--that would have been a death sentence years ago! Dr. Bob and his Specialists perform miracles EVERY DAY!!! YOUR PET IS IN THE COMPANY OF THE MOST HIGHLY-SKILLED, LOVING, COMPASSIONATE INDIVIDUALS IN THE VETERINARY FIELD AT THIS FACILITY!!! As an animal advocate, I am proud to say I recommend South Paws with NO RESERVATIONS!!! Don't hesitate to use these Specialists should the need arise...YOU ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE VERY BEST!!!

Words escape me as to WHAT CAN EVEN ACCURATELY represent the ANGELS that are present at South Paws Veterinary! As I rescued this baby that had been hit by a car and only option (other than Euth) was surgery! Dr Ledoto's responsiveness (as I was very heartfelt to help this baby) allowed me to feel comfort in knowing South Paws could help her immediately! Upon rescuing her I had an immediate appointment and Dr Bob Hancock, already communicating with Dr Ledoto, knew the specifics and this baby was offered relief from her pain....Having SHATTERED BONES, Dr Hancock rebuilt her hips and the staff there had constant communication in keeping me updated in her treatment....Although, this baby was a rescue that I only had a couple hours prior to taking her to South Paws, the staff and specialist were SOOOO HEARTFELT in knowing my passion in helping her and knew that to me, HER LIFE MATTERED!.....
I actually picked her up following surgery on SUNDAY morning! All the staff knew everything about her and was very helpful! THEY ARE INCREDIBLY CUSTOMER ORIENTED and seem to REALLY LOVE HELPING MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THESE BABIES LIVES!.....I cannot say enough good about my experience there....and when others ask "DID YOU SHOP PRICING AS YOU ARE A RESCUE?" I respond with "NO, because the care and love they provide at South Paws is PRICELESS!" I don't know how to thank Dr. Bob and his staff for all they have done for my German shepherd Red. Red doesn't take well to vets due partly to his bad experience at petsmart years ago. The set up of their office is not like any other Vet we have been to. It's comforting and home like. The staff are all extremely compassionate, caring and respectful. They do around the clock top notch amazing work and I will never bring my boys to another vet for their care!

The ladies in the front office were great. The surgery went well and the rehab specialists helped get my retriever ready to resume training and hunting in 3.5 months. Our Vet referred us to South Paws for our dog, Darla. She couldn't put weight on one of her paws and the vet suspected it was a torn ACL. Dr. Dena , at South Paws, agreed with the diagnosis and Darla's surgery was scheduled for that afternoon. When Dr. Dena started the surgery, she found a mass on the bone and the bone itself had pretty much deteriorated. She immediately called us and told us she suspected cancer. We gave permission for a chest X-ray while she was still sedated to help confirm this diagnosis. After all diagnostics were completed, the cancer was confirmed. We made the hard decision to euthanize. We returned to the clinic and were allowed time with our beloved Darla to say good bye. Dr. Dena sat with us and explained the procedure. When we were ready she helped Darla cross the Rainbow Bridge with us petting her and talking to her as she left. Dr. Dena even kissed Darla's head when it was over. I cannot thank Dr. Dena and the staff at South Paws enough for the care they took of Darla and the compassion they showed us. They helped us through a tough time.

Our sweet frenchie was sent to South Paws for an emergency surgery from Baton Rouge- no one else was available (not even LSU vet school had a surgeon on call) late one night while we were out of town. Dr Bob and his amazing crew didn't hesitate for one second to take on the task!!! Remy was treated with the best care imaginable! The staff and Dr Bob kept us well informed. The direct communication, frequent photos and the love they showed our Remy while we were away made us feel confident in his care and wellbeing!! (Being a nurse in the hospital setting I know how frustrating this can be for families) I will now be driving to Mandeville for all of Remy's healthcare needs!! They truly love their furry patients :)

Great staff + punctual + animal focus = great rehab place for animals My dog is currently doing under water treadmill therapy here and I like it much more than the other option in New Orleans. The staff is smart and kind and puts the animal first. They are very expensive but if you have the money and don't mind driving to the northshore they are the place to go.

We took our Redbone Coonhound, Daisy, to South Paws from Mobile, AL after we rescued her from a County shelter (high kill). She had been sitting in the shelter without any medical care for 8 days prior to her rescue and she was a difficult case, extremely emaciated with a shattered pelvis and very damaged diaphragm. They took excellent care of her, performed two complicated surgeries, and we believe contributed greatly to saving her life. Today, after 4 months, is walking well, happy, and getting stronger everyday. We highly recommend Dr. Hancock and South Paws.

My little Jack was referred to South Paw, after he sustained a fracture in a front leg after a vehicle impact. Jack is my special little guy and the only dog I have ever rescued so I felt a responsibility to get him the best care available. Dr Bob and his amazing staff treated me, my husband and little Jack like family and it made this tough time much easier . I am beyond pleased with his care and also the talent in this office . Jack is only 5 lbs, and the surgery was very technical because of the location of the fracture and his little size. We are now 6 weeks post op. And Jack is doing well beyond our expectations. If it was not for his gnarly scar you would never know 2 months ago he was in a coma in ICU. We will always be grateful for Dr. Bob and all the staff at South Paw.

I came home from work one day and one of my dogs had lost the use of get back legs during the day. I rushed her to my vet office they said she had probably ruptured a disc in her back and that time was very important. The longer she was like this the less likely it was she would ever have use of her legs again. They recommended south paws and said it was the best. I rushed her across the lake immediately. My dog needed a invasive and delicate back surgery. They completed the surgery successfully and fully rehabbed her. This place has underwater doggy treadmills regular treadmills and a whole section of the building and staff dedicated to rehab after their surgery. My dog made several visits for the next few weeks and improved greatly. She needs to be delicate on her back and her legs are a little wobbly but she is in no way handicapped. I was watching her RUN around my back yard a few nights ago and I got emotional and realized I haven't yelped about this place yet. South paws has a professional and careing staff the building is immaculate and they do amazing work
