Dr. Joe and his staff take good care of my baby, Pandora. Most of the time it's just routine care but last year we brought her in first thing in the morning without an appointment because she wasn't eating or drinking. He fit her in the schedule in between scheduled surgeries and found out it was something in her nasal passage they got infected. He gave her a shot of antibiotic and more to take at home and within a week she was back to her old self.

So thankful my Sonnet was seen this morning! She had a bad reaction to something. I called my Vet and was told they didn't have any openings. I called here and was told to bring her right in. After a few injections she was back to her rambunctious self!! Thanks again for seeing her immediately. Sonnet and Tucker will be going here for all their care!

About 6 months ago, we adopted a dog, Hermes. The shelter sold us 6 months of heartworm preventative, so it was time for a checkup and a refill. I decided that I would look for a vet close to home (I travel to the Eastbank for everything else, so it's time for a Westbank vet). After some quick internet research, Barataria Animal Hospital seemed like the winner. They were accepting new patients and setting up our first appointment was just a quick phone call. One week later,Hermes had his appointment. A very thorough checkup, and the discovery of an ear infection later, I had a happy pup who actually didn't seem to hate the vet. Yay! The Dr was easy going and easy to understand, which makes this dog-mom happy too. Reasonably priced for the checkup and the ear drops, which is always a plus.

This place is excellent. My dog got the most thorough examination with the best explanation I've ever experienced. The vet's problem solving technique, which was to start with the least invasive solutions and move to more invasive solutions if the initial attempts didn't work, is the right way to approach any problem. I've had vets in the past who jumped straight to outrageous conclusions and were completely wrong in the end. Barataria Animal Hospital is the cream of the crop. I highly recommend it to anyone!
