The entire staff truly cares about your animal and their prices are super reasonable! If you have any emergency, they are quick to take care of your pet and they don't charge an arm and a leg! It's early to tell, but one of my dogs, Trouble, abruptly vomited and collapsed yesterday. I've never seen her so miserably sick. I was really afraid I might lose her. I've just moved to Marrero from Texas a couple of months ago and didn't have a vet for my menagerie yet. MVC has Saturday hours, good reviews and the receptionist was cordial and professional on the phone. When we got to the clinic, the waiting room was well laid out and the intake staff was attentive. Dr. Walters was thorough in his treatment plan and very upfront about the costs, which were, I thought, quite reasonable. They've kept my baby overnight for observation, IV fluids and steroids. My dog chopper ate alot of carpet and was so sick. We went to another vet and they just took our money and chopper got even sicker. I love the care my fur babies receive there. I like them so much that I drive from Chalmette because of the excellent service and care given. My puppy has severe allergies so she goes in more often than most animals. They have discounted visits and medicine because my dog requires so many. I can't attest to all of their services because I only went in for a simple blood test. I'm wary of going to the vet because my dog is big, hyper, & anxious around new dogs & people. Once my dog came back from the test & nail clip, he was much calmer & seemed happy. Yay! That's a good sign! The vet tech was the first one to get him up on the large scale without a long coaxing. I've been taking my dog and two cats here since I adopted them over the past three years. A co-worker recommended them to me-- I couldn't believe she would drive all the way to Marrero from Gentilly for a vet, but I'd heard some pricey horror stories from other local pet owners and figured it was worth a go.Dr. Walker and the rest of the staff are wonderful. They will never, ever over charge you and genuinely have our animals' best interests at heart. My sister is finishing her second year of vet school and seconds my overall love of this clinic. Wow! I just got my dog back from boarding and grooming to find he was not groomed! My dog has been at the facility for 5 days! They suggested to groom him on the day I returned to pick him up. My friend went to pick him up and his collar was missing! They ensured him that I had the collar. My friend paid for the boarding and grooming and bought him home. How pissed I was to get my dog back with no collar and un-groomed!! What's worse? I call to discuss my frustration and I literally got "I forgot," from the groomer! And then she tells me my dog's collar is at the facility! Ok?!? So I need to take out more time to get my $ and collar back?? Maybe I would be a little more sympathetic if they sounded or even pretended to care that I was upset but since I didn't get that, I'll remain pissed and find a NEW VET & GROOMER! Read Less

I have been taking my pet(s)to this Veterinary Clinic for over 18 years. I really like Dr. Walker and the other Veterinarians there. The past year or two, however, they have become later and later with seeing me past our appointment times. No one lets you know that they are running late, let alone apologize for running late. I work in an Emergency Room, so I know there are valid reasons a caregiver can run late for an appointment, but AS A BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE, I at least visit the waiting patient every so often and apologize for the wait. The older, blond haired receptionist that is at the front desk of this office is rude, uninformative and unfriendly. I will regretfully not be going back there, solely because of their poor customer service. Read Less

I only went to this vet to have my puppy spayed as it is the clinic that the adoption organization uses for spay/neutering. The receptionist was incredibly rude and didn't even bother verifying why we were there. No time was given as to when to pick up my puppy and they specified that they would not call when she was ready. When they brought her out, she had no covering on her stitches and no cone so she wouldn't lick them. I asked the nurse and the doctor if there was anything I should do to care for the wound or if she would be given a prescription for pain or infection. I was told no for both and that it was simply a routine surgery. No one said anything about any side effects or things to look out for as I was rushed away. I was given no information even about returning to get the stitches removed until I called in a worry days later again to the rude receptionist. I am not returning to this vet for anything but the records. While the surgery went well, the people are horrible to work with. This is my first dog and I was asking questions because I didn't know and I received no information. Frankly, this place pissed me off entirely, I would never recommend this place to anyone. I have had many dogs over the years, and Dr. Walker has been my Vet since the mid-eighties when he practiced with Dr. Gutter. I left this area for 17 years, and even though I was out of State, I always contacted Dr. Walker to double check diagnosis' I had received from other Vets. Currently, I have 2 dogs and a cat, all go to Dr. Walker because he is the absolute best!! I have a 15 year old Jack Russel with Cushings disease that I thought was dying, but due to the excellent care from Dr. Walker and his staff, he is alive and doing very well. I am disturbed by the bad review posted from an obviously crazy person! There is nothing else to say except Marrero Animal Clinic and Dr. Walker are the best! I have just left Dr. Walker and his entire staff with my 15 year old baby that I was afraid would have to be put down. Thankfully, Dr. Walker was able to think of a therapy that will make my baby comfortable and to give me one more Christmas with my old guy. Everyone there bends over backwards to be patient and kind. We have many pets and the only thing that Marrero Vet Clinic has ever been is accurate with a diagnosis, reasonable with costs, and always willing to help me no matter what situation may have arisen. I was told by Dr. Walker that I was no longer welcome at this vet after my dog has been a patient there for 8 years. All I did was ask a question about my bill, in a polite manner & he credited the charge & asked me to never return. A few days later I called Dr. Foley to ask a question about my dogs health, since she was the Dr I had been seeing for the last 6 months. I was called back by some man who says he's the owner, he told me nobody will speak to me. How uncompassionate is that? You don't like me, ok fine, don't take it out on my dog. Yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!Dr. Riedel is an absolute angel - she is thorough and personable and just awesome.  Dr. Walker is great as well!I've been bringing my Miko here for years and even though he hates it, the staff here try to make the office visit as quick and painless as possible.Two years back, my dog fractured his hind leg and after a rush to the emergency vet hospital, we took him to Dr. Riedel on Monday morning.  They took him in overnight for x-rays and to set his cast and gave him pain meds.  The trauma of leaving Miko here overnight has rendered him a complete WUSS when going anywhere, but Dr. Riedel and team patched him up as best as they can and for that, I thank them so much.Honestly, the staff loves their job and it definitely shows!
