Love the experienced Cajun doc at this clinic. Dr. Melancon is much more reasonably priced than some of the others like VCA on Airline. Where most vets have made themselves rich off of our concern for our pets, Airline Park Animal Clinic took care of my dog's heart worms and didn't break me financially. Nor will he do unnecessary tests to bloat your bill, even if you walk in playing armchair vet. I first took my dog to VCA for a check up, but when they found the heartworms, they wanted to bill me a couple of thousand because of his weight. I was advised to check out Airline Park Animal Clinic and he fixed my lab retriever up for a couple of hundred. Don't buy into the scam with the nicer building. All of my pets are doing well, and although Dr. Melancon is close to retirement, as long as continues to practice I will continue to get my pets treated at Airline Park. Read Less

First off, Google, bravo on not letting POOR be its own selection. Let it be known i vote POOR! My wife and I used this clinic for 2 years and i never truly experienced why it was so important to get a second opinion. If you are one of those people who read labels before you buy dog food(because you care about your pet), this isn't the place for you. His "ignore the internet and listen to me" attitude almost cost my dogs life and a whole litter of puppies. I have 2 Boston Terriers and anyone who owns one knows they're primarily C-Section deliveries. The doctors response to my inquiry about it was "naww, that's mainly pit bulls- because their head is too big to fit through the birth canal. Don't worry, she's gonna give birth naturally. But if after 4 hours she hasn't given birth, bring her to the hospital because it might be a problem... but she should give birth easily so i wouldn't worry about that." Then he went on to say there's no need for x-rays because it feels like 4 puppies in there(spoiler- it was actually 3). i got to watch my dog suffer for 5 hours(4 in my bathroom and 1 in the hospital) before getting her taken care of. it took me a while to find one because the "24" hour clinic he prescribed to me is open 24 hours, but there's no surgeon there for a big portion of the late-night-early-morning(which is ironic, because he told me that dogs usually give birth late at night and early mornings). by the time i arrived at the hospital, i got to see two-tiny puppy paws hanging out of my dog. The puppy had already died in the birth canal... his/her HEAD LODGED IN THE NARROW BIRTH CANAL(surgeons exact words). i have nightmares about all the looks my dog gave me as she yelped for me to help her that night. on my other dog, I asked the "Doctor" to x-ray my dogs leg as he had been avoiding using it and yelps when he puts weight on it. he told me that my dog must have just hyper-extended his knee while playing and gave me some anti-inflammatory meds to give him. I then went to get a second opinion from the VCA Airline Animal Hospital who actually took an x-ray(like i requested) and after 2 doctors examined the x-rays and my dog's knees, they both agreed it was early stages of Patellar Luxation(or knee luxation) and he needs to be monitored closely and checked for his annual check-ups as this problem could lead to severe arthritis and could even impair his ability to walk properly. Not to mention the extreme pain he will have to suffer through. I highly recommend VCA Airline Animal Hospital. they're open Monday- Saturday with more reasonable hours... where as Airline Park is Monday- Wednesday for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon. Also, the staff at VCA Airline Animal Hospital is very welcoming and are always smiling. Then there's usually more than 1 qualified (and caring)doctor there during operating hours. We love our pets, they're a part of our family. Take my advice, go somewhere that actually cares about quality treatment. Then, always get a second opinion. Read Less
