My fiancée brought in a cat with a horrible injury, his leg is almost completely servered from him body and they wouldnt help unless we put down a very high deposit. Brought our very sick dog here and got charged for a horrible experience! First our dog was passing out, shaking and breathing heavy. When we arrived the assistant grabbed him up by his chest and groin instead of around his legs. She yanked him so hard he instantly pooped. Then the vet told us she thought he had a heart mermer but didn't have the equipment to know for sure. (Wait... you don't even have a stethoscope?) She said we had to go somewhere else to diagnosed. Tried to leave and she charged $146. Refused to give discount (since nothing was done) and would not give dog back until bill was paid. When the woman at the desk didn't have change for $200 She yanked our dog's leash and was choking him as she literally drug him into the back. He was sick and already struggling to breath! We were told that we would have to go get our own change before they would release our dog so that we get him help somewhere else. A yelling match insured, the bill was paid and we took our dog to a REAL vet clinic where the staff and vet were AWESOME. still waiting for blood work results on our baby but he DOESN'T have a hasty mermer! He is now in GREAT hands even though the quacks at pet care center tried to call around and have us refused treatment elsewhere. Read Less

Nice facility, nice staff, absolutely ridiculously expensive. It seems like every time we go back for grooming or boarding it's some other reason why it's going to cost more money. More shots, some new dog flu, more shots, couldn't get the other vet on the phone, more shots, couldn't find the records of the shots your dog received here, more shots. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best place to board in the area, just be prepared to pay for it. Read Less

Pet Care Center has been taking care of my pets for approximately 17 years. Yes, they may be a little more expensive, but you absolutely know your pets are in the best possible care. Over 17 years, if I had an issue it was immediately addressed and corrected. The doctors are extremely hard-working and very caring people. With regard to the bad reviews, people are human and humans make mistakes. I BELIEVE IN PET CARE CENTER'S DOCTORS AND STAFF AND THEY REALLY DO CARE! AND I DO NOT WORK AT PET CARE CENTER. Read Less

Boarded our samson and diliah here for a week. The facility was clean and the staff were friendly. Wayne and staff did a great job day in and day out taking care of our puppies and even posted a picture on Facebook when we needed it the most. Highly recommended facility. Read Less

A few days ago, my precious little slice of purrball heaven was bitten by a dog. It was as scary as you could possibly imagine, and to make matters worse it was at 6:15 in the evening, and veterinary clinics in St. Bernard had closed. My cat was having trouble breathing, while also profusely bleeding from her nose- it was absolutely horrifying and we knew we had to get her somewhere FAST. In a panic, I contacted a friend I know from St. Bernard asking if he knew the best place to take her that I could get to the quickest. Wayne Mendoza recommended Pet Care Center on David Drive where they had an emergency clinic so off we went. I did not expect the level of care of genuine kindness we received. When my cat arrived at Pet Care Center we didn't even have to say anything- the doctors immediately took her back and began working on her. They had oxygen already set up and waiting!! They were waiting for us!! This is by far the most positive experience I have ever had with an emergency clinic and I cannot rave enough about how Wayne, Dr. Lindsay and staff went above and beyond to take care of my boobookitty. I am so grateful. We were able to pick her up the next day after she was thoroughly cared for and checked out- IVs, X-rays, overnight monitoring, the whole deal- and it didn't break my bank the way other emergency clinics have in the past. I understand that Pet Care Center on David Drive and in St. Bernard are affiliated, and I plan on ONLY going here with my animals in the future. We went in twice with our dog who was having skin issues. He was chewing himself alive and missing patches of hair. They ran some tests on him, prescribed a flea pill (that did not work at all), gave him a steroid shot, prescribed us antibiotics and some antifungal medication, and sold us a medicated shampoo. They said to come back in a couple weeks if he was still having issues. They said they would call with the test results. When we didn't hear back, we assumed they'd been negative. A few weeks later, nothing had changed, so we went back. Apparently he had ringworm, which was found in the tests they'd performed during our first visit, BUT NO ONE CALLED TO TELL US. Even the vet we were seeing on this second visit asked us, "No one called you?!" But she wasn't much better. She seemed like she'd really rather be anywhere but at this clinic. My questions were met with indifference and apathy, almost irritation. They prescribed some more medication and told us to follow up again in a few weeks and suggested allergy tests. Obviously we followed up elsewhere, and our dog is fine now. No allergies, no flea issues. We will not be back here. We can't trust them to even give us test results, and this was something that is contagious to humans as well. They did not seem to care enough to really try to figure out what was going on either. I can't say enough positive things about Chalmette PCC. Dr. Julie is brilliant, thorough, and compassionate. These employees truly, truly care about the fur babies. I'm a member of Take Paws Rescue, and this past Saturday, I took 5 rescue kittens to them, and she stayed an hour and a half past closing to help treat their ringworm. They have helped me with countless animals, and without them, I wouldn't be able to continue with rescue. Dr. Julie is ALWAYS wanting to assist. Back in January, we held an adoption event there. She has fostered kittens for me. They're awesome about squeezing me in for whatever appointment I might need. I'm eternally grateful to them. I'm always SOOO busy and usually dash out after every appointment, but I hope that they know how much I appreciate them. Please support Chalmette PCC, and share their page on FB. I have read through all of these reviews. I am a little beside myself with some of these peoples experience. I just recently had to bring my cat (Racer) in after he was attacked by a huge alley cat. He probably wouldn't have made it had I not brought him. The staff was excellent, caring, and completely understanding of the situation. They took very good care of my baby. Explained everything that needed to be done for him and even had to keep him overnight due to unexpected side effects. They called me every few hours to give me an update on Racer, and to let me know that he was doing fine, and that everyone on their staff were showing him all the love and support that our family couldn't with his being there. They were truly the best I've ever encountered. I had also brought in one of my 3 dogs (Ethan) He had his heart worm tests done and they noticed him favoring his back leg. They gave me further advice on how to treat that problem and take care of it for him to try and prevent the need for surgery for my baby. They also informed us on why his weight was fluctuating so much, because we could not figure it out. This is truly one of the best vet clinics I've been to in a long time. They're absolutely reasonable on their prices, and love and care for each pet that come in to their clinic. I will never be seen going into any other vet. This place is horrible! I called ahead of time to schedule the last set of shots for my puppy. When I called they quoted me at $125. When I showed up they told me I owed over $300!!! I told them I think you have the wrong dog... They said no. So I asked what all they charged me for. They had charged me for several things I had not asked for that my dog did not need. After I got irate and told them to called the manager they " reduced" the price to $230! I went home and posted my story on facebook. In a matter of only a couple hours I had over 60 comments from friends and people who used to work there saying how horrible that place was. One girl who used to work there ended up quitting because a guy came in with his puppy that had been hit by a car and the workers told him to sit down and fill out paper work. My friend had to run to go get her favorite vet and he ended up saving the dogs life! There were other stories just as worse! I could go on and on!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! First of all I contacted Pet Care Center on a Thursday and had an appointment for Saturday within minutes. From the moment I walked in with my new puppy the staff was unbelievable. I have been to other vets and have had horrible experiences. Dr.Nick was great. I applaud you and your staff Dr.Nick I will be back with my other dogs.
