Dr. Chris is quite possibly one of the best veterinarians that I have ever taken my pets to. He genuinely cares, and is mindful towards his patients and their owners. He is both kind, and informative, as was the tech that saw us before Dr. Chris came in.
I also highly recommend Dr. Bill, he was available on one of the days I needed to take my babies in for their check up, and he is just as kind and informative.
Working the hours I do, it is sometimes difficult to call and schedule, but Southshore has made booking appointments much simpler for their clients by doing online booking. They even give you text notifications if you desire. They are also generally very responsive when you message them. Which is very reassuring.
Always a welcoming and clean atmosphere, very personable and helpful staff-- I am Incredibly pleased all around.
Happy to have found them, and have them close by.

I brought my cat in with an ear hematoma, a fairly common issue for both cats and dogs. I wanted the simplest, most cost effective solution that would be most beneficial to my cat. That's is not at all what I got. I got sold by the vet and his staff on surgery as being the best option available. Simply leaving it to heal over time and applying drops for infection and ear mites or simply lancing and draining were other less expensive alternatives. I was quoted a price of 120 dollars, and decided to go ahead with the process. It was done while we waited, and the first problem was we were billed at almost double the quoted price. I had two more visits, and did not want to say anything till this was all finished. There was a follow up mite treatment for ear mites, and another to remove the stitches. My cats ear ended up being deformed, bent back at a 90Β° angle. I was told by the staff this is normal. Furthermore, my cat continues to shake his head because his ear is still bothering him. What nonsense, the surgery was pushed by the doctor and his staff to make money. I was charged double the quoted price, my cats ear is deformed, and it's still not better. Avoid this place. They try to project an image of concern, but are in it for the money. My cat would have been better off with no surgery, and just ear drops.

The vets have been very nice. They've help with numerous foster cats and dogs. The downside is the front end staff. They tend to be rude and not friendly. One former client spent a lot of money on 3 elderly pets that all died in the span of 3 months. Her cat was ill and she ran short on money but paid 100 per week to cover the kitty bill for antibiotics. She was told when returned to pay on the kitty account and ask for follow up visit that she must pay it all or kitty couldn't receive follow up visit. The staff blocked her from questioning the vet. This wasn't the first time I had heard them deal with people negatively. They constantly refer to their financial manager and instruct the clients to call her on Tuesday.
I have received good treatment for multiple pets there but no so for everyone. They should never assume people are bad for not paying right away. Especially deal with people with such emotional roller coasters such loss of 3 pets. And certainly not embarrassing them in the lobby. Time for sensitivity training.

Although I've only visited the clinic once, I am impressed with what I saw and with the care my dog received. The team of care givers were all cheerful and attentive to all the pets. They knew their medical procedures well while making my dog feel nurtured. The clinic was clean and had no odors whatsoever. The rates at the clinic are reasonable, especially compared to other Lakeview clinics I've been to. We're very pleased to have found Dr Chris and his clinic.

As far as I'm concerned this is by far the best veterinary clinic in the city. Dr. Chris is the most caring kind and awesome vet that I have ever met. He has gone above and beyond on multiple occasions and has even seen my pets after hours. His prices are reasonable and he genuinely cares about the animals. Then the vet does not even come to see my dog. A new recently graduated vet sees my dog!!! I will NEVER return and I will pass my experience with this vet around to several rescue groups I belong to.

Nice people, but they don't get too detailed about how your pet did while in their care, or what exactly what done to your pet. I had to ask them questions and they didn't even seem too sure of their own answers. My pup is fine, just would like to know what time he got his pain medicine, how long the procedure was, how long he's been awake, and a list of instructions of how to care for my pup post-op. They didn't even provide my pup with a cone, I had to go to pet-smart after my pup was trying to lick his insertion site.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Chris and his staff.i bring all of my furkids here (3 cats) and now my roommates bring their furkids(cats and a dog) to Dr. Chris as well.One of my cats - who just turned 10 - has been mean & hard to manage her whole life because she was abused when she was a kitten. She began having a few health issues which made her attitude worse. Just a few visits with Dr Chris and she's a new cat! She now climbs In my lap, purrs and PLAYS with me and with the other cats in the house - things she has NEVER in her life done! It's kind of a miracle!My other cats trust Dr Chris and his staff which has never before been the case with other vets. He just has a calming presence that the animals seem to pick up on.Dr Chris is attentive and thorough, taking the time to really listen to and address my concerns. He also makes sure I understand exactly what is going on with the health of my furkids as well as the ins and outs of whatever treatment they may be receiving.I've called several times with questions (I have a mischievous abyssinian and a young tuxedo that are far too curious for their own good) Β and even emailed videos of what is going on with my cats and Dr Chris and his staff are kind, polite and always quick to respond. I know my furkids are in good hands at Southshore Animal Hospital and that Dr. Chris and his staff are not only among the best at what they do, but that they truly care about the health and wellbeing of my furkids.

I can't say enough nice things about Southshore Animal Hospital. Dr. Chris has such a great work ethic and a willingness to consider every possible option for your pet. He's very methodical and logical, as well as personable. He took my dog in as an emergency on a Sunday morning and was pleasant about it. He is competent and reliable and he will do whatever it takes to get your pet back up to health again. His staff is very professional and friendly as well. His billing is clear and uncomplicated. His clinic is fresh and new. You can tell everyone there has a high standard of professionalism and they take pride in their work.
He really did save my dog's life and we are very grateful!

Dr Chris and his staff are not only kind and compassionate, they are very informative and thorough as well. I have transferred all of my animals to his care and even my cat that hates everyone likes him and allows him to pet her. My fur babies are at ease in his facility and care and I am so grateful to have found a vet who is not only knowledgable but truly cares about the animals entrusted to his care. Dr. Chris is quite possibly one of the best veterinarians that I have ever taken my pets to. He genuinely cares, and is mindful towards his patients and their owners. He is both kind, and informative, as was the tech that saw us before Dr. Chris came in.
I also highly recommend Dr. Bill, he was available on one of the days I needed to take my babies in for their check up, and he is just as kind and informative.
Working the hours I do, it is sometimes difficult to call and schedule, but Southshore has made booking appointments much simpler for their clients by doing online booking. They even give you text notifications if you desire. They are also generally very responsive when you message them. Which is very reassuring.
Always a welcoming and clean atmosphere, very personable and helpful staff-- I am Incredibly pleased all around.
Happy to have found them, and have them close by.

I brought my cat in with an ear hematoma, a fairly common issue for both cats and dogs. I wanted the simplest, most cost effective solution that would be most beneficial to my cat. That's is not at all what I got. I got sold by the vet and his staff on surgery as being the best option available. Simply leaving it to heal over time and applying drops for infection and ear mites or simply lancing and draining were other less expensive alternatives. I was quoted a price of 120 dollars, and decided to go ahead with the process. It was done while we waited, and the first problem was we were billed at almost double the quoted price. I had two more visits, and did not want to say anything till this was all finished. There was a follow up mite treatment for ear mites, and another to remove the stitches. My cats ear ended up being deformed, bent back at a 90Β° angle. I was told by the staff this is normal. Furthermore, my cat continues to shake his head because his ear is still bothering him. What nonsense, the surgery was pushed by the doctor and his staff to make money. I was charged double the quoted price, my cats ear is deformed, and it's still not better. Avoid this place. They try to project an image of concern, but are in it for the money. My cat would have been better off with no surgery, and just ear drops.

The vets have been very nice. They've help with numerous foster cats and dogs. The downside is the front end staff. They tend to be rude and not friendly. One former client spent a lot of money on 3 elderly pets that all died in the span of 3 months. Her cat was ill and she ran short on money but paid 100 per week to cover the kitty bill for antibiotics. She was told when returned to pay on the kitty account and ask for follow up visit that she must pay it all or kitty couldn't receive follow up visit. The staff blocked her from questioning the vet. This wasn't the first time I had heard them deal with people negatively. They constantly refer to their financial manager and instruct the clients to call her on Tuesday.
I have received good treatment for multiple pets there but no so for everyone. They should never assume people are bad for not paying right away. Especially deal with people with such emotional roller coasters such loss of 3 pets. And certainly not embarrassing them in the lobby. Time for sensitivity training.

My pup is fine, just would like to know what time he got his pain medicine, how long the procedure was, how long he's been awake, and a list of instructions of how to care for my pup post-op. They didn't even provide my pup with a cone, I had to go to pet-smart after my pup was trying to lick his insertion site.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Chris and his staff.i bring all of my furkids here (3 cats) and now my roommates bring their furkids(cats and a dog) to Dr. Chris as well.One of my cats - who just turned 10 - has been mean & hard to manage her whole life because she was abused when she was a kitten. She began having a few health issues which made her attitude worse. Just a few visits with Dr Chris and she's a new cat! She now climbs In my lap, purrs and PLAYS with me and with the other cats in the house - things she has NEVER in her life done! It's kind of a miracle!My other cats trust Dr Chris and his staff which has never before been the case with other vets. He just has a calming presence that the animals seem to pick up on.Dr Chris is attentive and thorough, taking the time to really listen to and address my concerns. He also makes sure I understand exactly what is going on with the health of my furkids as well as the ins and outs of whatever treatment they may be receiving.I've called several times with questions (I have a mischievous abyssinian and a young tuxedo that are far too curious for their own good) Β and even emailed videos of what is going on with my cats and Dr Chris and his staff are kind, polite and always quick to respond. He's very methodical and logical, as well as personable. He took my dog in as an emergency on a Sunday morning and was pleasant about it. He is competent and reliable and he will do whatever it takes to get your pet back up to health again. His staff is very professional and friendly as well. His billing is clear and uncomplicated. His clinic is fresh and new. You can tell everyone there has a high standard of professionalism and they take pride in their work.
He really did save my dog's life and we are very grateful!
