Conveniently located in Mid-City, the Eye Center for Animals is an advanced Veterinary Ophthalmology practice in New Orleans. It is a surgical facility offering comprehensive animal eye care, including treatment for dry eyes, allergies, trauma, tumors, cataracts, glaucoma, & retinal diseases.
Owned & operated by Dr. Paul da Costa, the Eye Center is equipped with multiple lasers and other cutting-edge equipment for glaucoma shunt surgery, retinal surgery, & advanced cataract surgery with lens implants.
With the trust & support of referring veterinarians, Dr. da Costa has been practicing throughout Louisiana & the Gulf Coast region since 1996.
He has obtained a BS in Physics, a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), & is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists - DACVO).

This was the second time that I utilized the services of this facility. I was extremely pleased with the courteous staff, ability to ask questions and explanations of finances and any medical terms that was not understood. My pet had surgery and as usual I was worried but I was put at ease with a phone call as well as consultation with the doctor after the procedure. I give this facility a positive recommendation for eye care for animals and medical procedures.

Dr. DaCosta and his staff offer the best specialty vet care in New Orleans. My dog needed cataract surgery to restore his vision. There was some unforseen eye pressure issues after the surgery. Dr. Da Costa worked with me for weeks to see me and my dog through all the ups and downs. He was constantly researching different drugs to help and discussing options. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone whose pet needs an optometrist.

He has taken care of my pets' eye problems for years. I would never go anywhere else for ophthalmology!

Dr. DaCosta knows how to treat animals with eye problems better than anyone else around. He is gentle and thorough with my 19-year-old dog. He actually listens to what I tell him about his progress, or lack thereof. We are so happy we switched to Eye Center for Animals, and could not be happier with Dr. DaCosta, Dr. Martinez and his wonderful staff.

Nola our three month old bulldog pup needed to have eye surgery and the specialist here got us in right away. As soon as I arrived I knew I was at the right place. Truly a professional operation with people who obviously care about animals. Nola is resting comfortably and will soon be back to roughhousing with her brother. Thank you doctors for fixing her up!

This was the second time that I utilized the services of this facility. I was extremely pleased with the courteous staff, ability to ask questions and explanations of finances and any medical terms that was not understood.
