I am very disappointed with my experience at the Cat Practice. I called to make an appointment and spoke at length with the woman on the phone about what I wanted: a grooming and a urine test for my cat. My appointment was made for 10:30, the woman explained sedation may be necessary but that they would be able to handle it that day. The day before the appointment, I received a call for confirmation and I verbally confirmed with the woman on the phone.
When I arrived, I was told by the woman at the front desk that my appointment had been cancelled. I explained that I had never cancelled my appointment. She then told me that if I wanted a grooming I needed to be there between 8 and 9 am. This was never explained to me on the phone. There was no apology for the mis-scheduling, just the front desk woman repeating that grooming happens between 8 and 9am. They decided to try to fit me in for the urine test and took me into an exam room where I met Dr Cousins, who was friendly enough and explained the procedure for obtaining a urine sample. The vet tech then explained that they were booked up for sedations that day and I would need to make another appointment.
I am pissed because I drove across town and was charged $60 for a vet to listen to my cat's heart and lungs when the whole reason I came was for a grooming and a urine sample. I understand the vet needing to do his exam but at no point did anybody acknowledge the fact that the Cat Practice had made a mistake both when they scheduled my appointment, and then when they wrongfully cancelled it. They said I would need to reschedule for the services I had originally come for but why would anybody want to return after this experience? This business has shown me that it is poorly organized, does not accept accountability for their errors, and they make the customer pay for it.

I love everything about The Cat Practice. The environment looks super clean and, importantly, smells super clean. Staff members are friendly, efficient and professional in every respect. While Dr. Lemarie is officially my cat's vet, Dr. Cousins has also seen my darling. Both delivered the highest quality of care.
I've been a client now for nearly ten years. As a result of the superior care my cats have received, I'm confident any of the veterinarians at The Cat Practice are up-to-date authorities in the field of feline medicine and behavior. In short, I wouldn't dream of taking my beloved pets anywhere else.

If you TRULY care about your cat's health and well being visit the Cat Practice. Everyone, from doctors to staff are dedicated to your cat's health and in making your visit as stress-free as is humanly possible for your cat and you too. The people are professional, educated and up to date on all aspects of feline health. Really, you could not ask for better people to work with in caring for your cat's needs. I've been a client of theirs for many years and they have seen me through VERY tough times as well as keeping each of my cats in tip top health. They are amazingly professional and also warm, caring people dedicated to their patients.

A trusted friend recommended Dr. Cousins and I am so happy he did. I researched this office before I made an appointment. I read a lot of reviews and the responses to a few not so happy clients. I'm so happy I went with my gut and got her in with The Cat Practice right away. Dixie had a bad staph infection and they immediately tested her and gave her medicine. Dr. Cousins explained every possible scenario, why she needed a certain medication and what it would do to help, he had a game plan for each scenario while we waited for her culture to come back to let us know what type of infection she had. When my cat reacted poorly to one medication he reimbursed me for what I hadn't use (and hadn't been opened) and switched her to a new drug. He knew my cat was struggling taking pills so he was able to give her a shot that lasted the duration of what she needed with minimal side effects. He knew she was on prescription food for her skin allergies and worked around that and would only switch her food if that was the last option, and fortunately it wasn't. His staff treated Dixie with such loving care and she felt safe and comfortable around them. I waited to write a review so I could give the whole story - this place is wonderful. They only care for cats and it works. The cats don't freak out because they're around their own kind. Totally recommend this place!

It was the last stop on the road and the only Vet open on a Saturday to save my 13 year old black cat named LUCKY who ironically was having the worst year of His life ... Earlier that week I went to two other VETS and all they wanted to do was put my cat to sleep! I could tell that my cat was not willing to give up on life so I was not willing to give up on him! So still on the hunt for the right Doctor ... I called THE CAT PRACTICE located on Magazine St. N.O.L.A. early that Saturday morning and told them my situation and they said we are open come right on in immediately and by 10:00am I was there. I liked that they are very friendly and 110% Dedicated to just handling felines ... By lunch that day I had a full blood panel on my cat along with X-Rays ... By 1 pm my cat was properly diagnosed with a very serious blood born bacterial Disease and was on the proper meds for treatment ... My cat would not have survived past the weekend if it was not for Dr Cousins and #THECATPRACTICE Because I made the right choices that day, I was able to prolong the life of my beloved pet LUCKY by 20MONTHS! thanks to THE CAT PRACTICE & DR. MARK COUSINS When my cat passed away I called to tell them the sad news they sympathized for my lost and sent me a grievance card in the mail and thanking me for choosing them for their services ... I WILL NEVER FORGET THESE PEOPLE!

They are most interested In trying to sell you services you don't need, then telling you you're not a responsible or loving pet owner for not buying their "up sells". I once enquired with them about a missing cat and they told me they wouldn't help and even if they knew the whereabouts of the cat they wouldn't tell me because it was an outside cat and "anyone who lets their cat outside is an unfit owner". I told them it was adopted off the street, I gave it vaccines, fixed it, etc. but it's an outside semi/ feral cat but apparently I'm still an unfit pet owner so they wouldn't help even if they could. Don't support these terrible people!

Dr. Cousins and his happy crew always have taken impeccable care of our felines. The standard of care is the most professional in the area. We've taken our cats to Dr. Cousins almost since he opened The Cat Practice and wouldn't consider anyone else. The facility restricted to only cats makes a huge difference in their comfort and Dr. Cousins, as the only board certified feline specialist in Louisiana, is more knowledgeable, increasing our comfort.

I was very hesitant to bring in my cat, Pumpkin, for a vet visit, because the last time I took him (in Brooklyn, where I was living at the time), he went absolutely berserk and they weren't even able to complete the exam (although of course I had to pay full price). They just didn't know how to handle cats (mine is usually super chill and sweet). Anyway, I knew I was being a bad cat mom by neglecting to take him for a check up, so I faced the fear that he'd do this again and went with The Cat Practice, as recommended by a friend. I was VERY pleased with the staff and service--everyone was super nice, knowledgeable, and you could tell that the vet just "got" cats...Pumpkin was totally at home. Also, I was in the market for some flea control products that actually work, and I got a great deal from them (actually the reason I'm writing this review is because I googled their website so I could call them up and order more, and realized I never left a review last time). Great place!

I completely and with huge gratitude recommend The Cat Practice for a vet for your kitty. Dr Cousins is the absolute BEST! He is so kind and compassionate and down right amazing at his job. He saved my baby's life and did it with such gentleness. His entire crew were so personal and welcoming every time I walked in and I felt like Moose and me were apart of their family. After all the years I've owned cats, I couldn't have picked a better clinic to take care of my baby. Wonderful people through and through.

The Cat Practice is absolutely the best place to have your precious cat taken care of. They have saved the life of one of my cats, after Katrina, and helped out my current lovely Odette, who developed a massive infection. The depth of caring and appreciation of every pet brought to them cannot be praised enough. The level of medical knowledge is stunning, ask all the questions you want, they will all be answered, plus some. You cannot get better care anywhere.

For more years than I can remember, I've brought my cats to The Cat Practice. Whether for regular check-ups, illness, or general concern, my kitties have received the best in care and respect. The Cat Practice is also very clear in addressing the frequent question "How much is this going to cost?", explaining that although the cost is expected to be "abc", it is possible that after the cat has been examined, and a health issue has been revealed that the cost may ultimately be "xyz". I'm grateful that The Cat Practice is available, with doctors and staff that care so much about the physical and emotional needs of the kitties, and respect the concerns of the humans that love and care for them.

This vet/ boarding spot for kitties has the most wonderful staff ever. We took my old cat there when she was sick after taking her to 2 other vets who couldn't tell us what was wrong with her and they figured it out. They treated our baby with such compassion and love and I really felt that we finally had her in good hands. I only wish the prices were a bit lower, but if you can afford it this is the best place for cats in the city, and the vets and staff there will treat you with so much respect and kindness.

After having moved here from out of town, I couldn't find a good place to bring my cat. I was referred here. Boy, am I glad!! Great, friendly, caring staff. The doctors are knowledgable, caring, and SPEND TIME WITH YOU. They give estimates before any work is done...I LIKED that. Highly recommended. What a beautiful place.....

I am very disappointed with my experience at the Cat Practice. I called to make an appointment and spoke at length with the woman on the phone about what I wanted: a grooming and a urine test for my cat. They are most interested In trying to sell you services you don't need, then telling you you're not a responsible or loving pet owner for not buying their "up sells". I once enquired with them about a missing cat and they told me they wouldn't help and even if they knew the whereabouts of the cat they wouldn't tell me because it was an outside cat and "anyone who lets their cat outside is an unfit owner". I told them it was adopted off the street, I gave it vaccines, fixed it, etc. but it's an outside semi/ feral cat but apparently I'm still an unfit pet owner so they wouldn't help even if they could. Don't support these terrible people!

Dr. Cousins and staff are so wonderful! I have a 2 year old long haired Persian, Marie, that I adore. I'm very vigilant about yearly care for all of my animals. The Cat Practice gave Marie impeccable care at a reasonable price. I've been to vets all over the state and Dr. Cousins fees are comparable to everyone else. Thank You so much for the wonderful care! I have a piece of mind knowing that y'all are right down the street if Marie needs you.

Dr. Cousins and his happy crew always have taken impeccable care of our felines. The standard of care is the most professional in the area. We've taken our cats to Dr. Cousins almost since he opened The Cat Practice and wouldn't consider anyone else. The facility restricted to only cats makes a huge difference in their comfort and Dr. Cousins, as the only board certified feline specialist in Louisiana, is more knowledgeable, increasing our comfort.

I was very hesitant to bring in my cat, Pumpkin, for a vet visit, because the last time I took him (in Brooklyn, where I was living at the time), he went absolutely berserk and they weren't even able to complete the exam (although of course I had to pay full price). They just didn't know how to handle cats (mine is usually super chill and sweet). Anyway, I knew I was being a bad cat mom by neglecting to take him for a check up, so I faced the fear that he'd do this again and went with The Cat Practice, as recommended by a friend. I was VERY pleased with the staff and service--everyone was super nice, knowledgeable, and you could tell that the vet just "got" cats...Pumpkin was totally at home. Also, I was in the market for some flea control products that actually work, and I got a great deal from them (actually the reason I'm writing this review is because I googled their website so I could call them up and order more, and realized I never left a review last time). Great place!

I completely and with huge gratitude recommend The Cat Practice for a vet for your kitty. Dr Cousins is the absolute BEST! He is so kind and compassionate and down right amazing at his job. He saved my baby's life and did it with such gentleness. His entire crew were so personal and welcoming every time I walked in and I felt like Moose and me were apart of their family. After all the years I've owned cats, I couldn't have picked a better clinic to take care of my baby. Wonderful people through and through.

They have saved the life of one of my cats, after Katrina, and helped out my current lovely Odette, who developed a massive infection. The depth of caring and appreciation of every pet brought to them cannot be praised enough. The level of medical knowledge is stunning, ask all the questions you want, they will all be answered, plus some. You cannot get better care anywhere.

For more years than I can remember, I've brought my cats to The Cat Practice. Whether for regular check-ups, illness, or general concern, my kitties have received the best in care and respect. The Cat Practice is also very clear in addressing the frequent question "How much is this going to cost?", explaining that although the cost is expected to be "abc", it is possible that after the cat has been examined, and a health issue has been revealed that the cost may ultimately be "xyz". I'm grateful that The Cat Practice is available, with doctors and staff that care so much about the physical and emotional needs of the kitties, and respect the concerns of the humans that love and care for them.

I have been bringing our sweeties and adopting a few for about 15 years, you will never ever find another vet and staff that actually care. They're more like family. Dr. Cousins & Co are amazing!!!!!

This vet/ boarding spot for kitties has the most wonderful staff ever. We took my old cat there when she was sick after taking her to 2 other vets who couldn't tell us what was wrong with her and they figured it out. They treated our baby with such compassion and love and I really felt that we finally had her in good hands. I only wish the prices were a bit lower, but if you can afford it this is the best place for cats in the city, and the vets and staff there will treat you with so much respect and kindness.

If you have a cat, why aren't you bringing it here? This is the finest vet I have ever brought my precious baby to. After having moved here from out of town, I couldn't find a good place to bring my cat. I was referred here. Boy, am I glad!! Great, friendly, caring staff. The doctors are knowledgable, caring, and SPEND TIME WITH YOU. They give estimates before any work is done...I LIKED that. Highly recommended. What a beautiful place.....
