Cypress Lake Animal And Emergency Hospital

Prairieville, Louisiana
General Info
Cypress Lake Animal And Emergency Hospital is proud to serve the Prairieville area. Cypress Lake Animal And Emergency Hospital extends regional support to Prairieville families seeking behavioral evaluations and guidance as they shape structured routines fitting into their households and Louisiana lifestyles. An examination of daily rhythms initiates the visit. Discussions then unfold around energy fluctuations, dietary habits, social interactions, sleep quality, and environmental stressors. A physical examination follows, during which the joints and other body systems (mouth, skin, posture) are checked. The veterinarian notes the animal's responses to physical contact and pressure to identify any potential discomfort, muscle stiffness, or movement restriction. Scholars analyze historical data to identify patterns indicating shifts in metabolic processes, skeletal pressures, and behavioral adaptations. Cypress Lake Animal And Emergency Hospital offers diagnostic screenings, and nutritional consultations, blood and fecal tests in addition to vaccinations. Pain management plans are also available. The timing of the healthcare visits also points to local climatic conditions (e.g., more appointments for allergies in spring, parasite treatments in summer, and arthritis consultations in cold months). Breeds predisposed to anxiety or chronic illnesses might benefit from staggered milestone visits for better monitoring. Pet owners obtain detailed habit logs with intervals of follow-up care checks and have additional optional digital check-in options. Owners of senior pets or several animals can also ask for adaptive scheduling telehealth services and behavior-associated recheck systems to keep the care manageable. Through systematic observation and seasonal alignment, Cypress Lake Animal And Emergency Hospital empowers Prairieville pet owners—and all of Louisiana—to predict health needs to ensure that veterinary visits are part of their daily routine. Popular services offered include radiology (x-rays), surgery, dental care, anesthesiology, orthopedic surgery, cardiology, emergency care, puppy and kitten care, vaccinations and boarding. Whether it is a routine wellness visit or an intricate health issue, the clinic ensures that pet owners feel confident and informed by maintaining open communication. The team is dedicated to continual growth and community outreach to ensure that pets in Prairieville and the United States receive exemplary care.

I normally do not leave reviews but felt compelled to share our recent experience at Cypress Lake Animal Hospital in Prairieville, LA. To start, I will say that we have received decent service at this location up until today although we have found them to be very expensive as compared to other vet offices. Our 11 year old Black Labrador, developed a small cyst on his right rear foot. We agreed to have it removed since it likely caused some pain and made walking somewhat difficult. This surgery came with a price tag of almost $800 (all in) and included sending the growth off to determine if it was cancerous. I know we are in Baton Rouge but $800 to remove a small cyst is expensive - this surgery would have been 1/2 the cost in Houston, TX. The problem came when we brought our boy back for a check up and to see if the incision was completely healed and we could remove the bandage. We waited 30 minutes or so for our 4:30 appointment. Dr. Rhett Mouton spent no more than 5 minutes removing the bandage, inspecting the would and determined that the wound was completely healed and he no longer needed to be bandaged. They returned our boy to us with the good news. The young lady at the counter then asked another employee if there would be a charge for this office visit. The second lady said that there should not be a charge given the expense of the surgery. This is when the vet tech went to the back to ask Dr. Mouton. She returned and said that Dr. Mouton wanted to charge $39 for the appointment that lasted less than 5 minutes. We explained that we thought the follow-up was included in the original surgery cost. Then Dr. Mouton, came to the front and asked "if there was a issue". We, again, stated that we thought the follow-up would be included in the original surgery cost. Dr. Mouton was very blunt and said that "the Doctor had to stop what he was doing" to perform the follow-up. Well, we did have a set appointment at 4:30. He came across as uncaring and unwilling to discuss the "issue". After sharing our displeasure and witnessing his uncaring attitude, we made it known that we would seek another vet for our pets. He immediately told the front desk clerk to print out our records so we could look for another vet. He really does not care about his customers! He lost us and our two pets. I have to wonder if he is willing to treat his customers this way, how does he treat our pets. I would not recommend Dr. Rhett Mouton or Cypress Lake Animal Hospital in Prairieville, LA to any of my friends or family. I would highly recommend looking for alternatives to Cypress Lake Animal Hospital and Dr. Rhett Mouton. Read Less

My first visit to Cypress Lakes was for my boyfriends dachshund DD. I have 3 female Catahoulas, he has 2 dachshunds. My Gracie Lulu doesn't like either one of them. We always keep the dogs separated but, we have "flood refugees" living with us and the door was accidentally left open. DD n Marley think they are big dogs...they love to bark at my girls and which infuriates them. When Gracie Lulu saw she had access to DD it was on. Grace bit her one time n caught her on her back. She immediately dropped DD when I called her off but, the damage had been done. The bite abscessed and poor DD was hurting. I brought her in to Cypress Lakes and they were amazing. DD had surgery to insert a drain tube and stayed over night. There were a few emergencies that came in while I was there to drop DD off and pick her up. These vets never missed a beat. This staff is knowledgeable, professional and most important...compassionate. It's obvious that they love their work and their patients. I've switched my 3 Catahoulas over to Cypress Lakes because I know they will receive top notch care.Read Less

I had a negative experience previously with a vet in my area & Dr. Rhett was able to correctly diagnose the issue, get creative when it came to treating it & has always been amazing even though my hedgehog is a rescue, very grumpy & uncooperative. He's on top of current practices regarding exotics & even when a tricky issue comes up, he thinks outside of the box to figure out what's going on. I could go on and on! Thank you, Dr. Rhett! We adopted our German Shepherd a year and a half ago. He had already met the staff at Cypress Lake. Oskar has Mega Esophagus which is something we had never heard of. We were told by many people not to adopt him...that he would only live a few months and he would suffer the whole time. From my research and from talking to others in support groups I learned more about this condition. The reason Mega E isn't well known is that once diagnosed, most vets advise euthanasia because of the high mortality rate in these animals. Dr. Kristen and her staff are not ones to give up against ANY odds and she searched high and low looking for a way to help Oskar. His case is extremely severe and not managed by the "normal" cocktail of meds these animals need to survive. Sure enough, she found us an answer and Oskar had been doing amazing! He had a major episode over thanksgiving and ended up with pneumonia and a large ball of old food stuck in his esophagus. We were out of town and completely out of control over the whole situation. Dr. Kristen and Ashley C stayed with him 24/7 through the roughest time in his life with us. They saved his life multiple times in those days. They also were in constant contact with us in case we needed to come home to spend time with him. They were understanding and talked to me constantly to update and reassure me. BUT- they performed a miracle AGAIN and not only did Oskar make it through this huge challenge; he is recovering well at home with us. There aren't words to express our gratitude and awe at the selflessness and dedication of the Cypress Lake staff. I will never bring my animals to another vet again. I truly love these people from the bottom of my heart. No matter what the outcome; they have gone above and beyond for my baby-no questions asked. We LOVE YOU DR. KRISTEN AND ASHLEY!!!Read Less

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kristin and her staff. Taking my dogs to Cypress Lakes is like taking them to family, and they treat their patients like family. One of our pups was recuperating from major surgery during the September floods. When I called the clinic to try to figure out how to get our pup home, the staff told me not to worry because Dr. Kristin had taken him to her own home to recuperate. She has stayed through the night with my dogs after surgical procedures to insure they are out of the woods. I know that when I leave my pups at Cypress Lakes, they are in the best possible hands.

I don't typically review things but cypress lake animal hospital is far to wonderful not to tell people about. I practically lived there this July/august because the sweet rottie I was fostering (and now adopted) was so ill. The staff truly went above and beyond helping Brooklyn and also helping me. As long as I live in Louisiana I will take our dogs here. Thank you so much from my husband and I and especially Brooklyn!! Read Less

I drive from New Orleans to Prairieville to use Dr. Rhett for my hedgehog and couldn't be happier with him & his staff!

I cannot think of a better group of people to care for my beloved pets! They go above and beyond to make sure their animal clients and their parents receive the best care possible! I couldn't imagine trusting Bailey to anyone else. They do it all. We saw them first for a very significant leg injury when he was a newly adopted rescue and continue to see them for his annual vaccines and checkups. I trust them 100%. We love Dr Kristen. She is compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. She doesn't rush and is always happy to answer any questions. She explains everything in a way anyone can understand and is very sweet with our dogs. We haven't had any other vet so can't comment on them. The reception staff are usually friendly and helpful too. We sometimes have to wait a while but I don't mind that as they don't rush the appointments. They could do with some more seating in the waiting area. Read Less

We went there for a second opinion for our boxer Jake. He had a corneal ulcer in his eye. It was in very bad shape. Our old vet said it needed to be removed. Well having a two day old lil boy at home. That's not exactly what my wife needed or wanted to hear. So after having dealt with Dr. Kulinski before, having helped me find my frenchie a foster home. I new they were a great team that was passionate about their career! Dr. Mouton gave Jake a series of drops and ointments to apply daily and after a few weeks jakes eye is completely healed. And most of all still in his head!! I can't thank this team enough for all they've done!! Thanks guys! Y'all are first class in my book! Read Less

Dr. Kristen saved my dog Molly s life!!! She is amazing. We took my dog to an emergency room in Baton Rouge after hours and we waited there for 6 hrs to be told she may have been electrocuted (which was definitely not the case) and after $600 was told there was nothing they can do. The next morning we took Molly to her office and within 5 minutes of seeing Molly knew exactly what was wrong with her. Molly is now on daily meds to live and thanks to Dr. Kristen she will live longer than expected. I can t say enough about this place. Every staff member there is extremely polite and very helpful!!!!
