A few months after having my dogs teeth cleaned here, he lost all of his top teeth. I brought it up to Dr Heinz to let him be aware and learn from this so in the future it won't happen again, I did not want anything in return, I simply wanted to let him know. Instead of being understanding and apologetic he was extremely defensive and rude. Basically said there is ZERO way they could have caused this and told me he still had his teeth when he left after his cleaning and that my dog is just old! Then the nurse came back in and gave me a copy of his teeth cleaning report "in case I needed another copy". VERY disrespectful. I told myself I wouldn't go back, but then my dog hurt his back so on a Saturday I went in to get medicine on an emergency basis and I was turned away bc there were no appointments (even though I was there more than 3 hours before they closed)!!! We bring three dogs to Dutchtown Animal Hospital on a regular basis. Our experiences there have been positive. When we brought them our very loved and sick dog, who ultimately had to be put to sleep, they helped to keep him as comfortable as possible during his illness. They understood our pain, too. They are kind and compassionate with our dogs, while always addressing our concerns and fears patiently and completely when we have questions. Five Stars for Doctors! However, I will take my pets elsewhere after the treatment from their front desk personnel, Shannon. I have never in all my years been treated and spoken down to the way she did me and the other gals sitting at the desk while trying to answer my questions about flea control. What a miserable, mean, rude and hateful woman. She should not represent their front desk. If the doctors only knew how awful she is to their customers, I'm sure she would not be there long. When another vet clinic said we would need to put my childhood pup to sleep due to ear problems, we took him here for a second opinion. They saved him and he lived almost 8 more years after. When it was time, they also put him down. Now, I take my two boys here. Everyone here is friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about your babies as much as you do. Dr Grayson and Dr Angellette are the best. No matter how small the problem is, when I bring the boys in they answer every question and never make me feel silly. Dr. Grayson saved our kitty's life. She was missing for 6 weeks and was found emaciated, severely dehydrated, and had a damaged liver. She was only a couple of days away from death. Many vets might have thought it was hopeless and recommended putting her down, but not Dr. Grayson. Dr. Grayson and her staff are hands down the BEST care providers for your fur family. The love they display for each and every person (owners and their pets) is remarkable. I thank God that I happened upon them in a desperate time of need for my baby. They truly care and take time to let you know that your needs are their priority.....you actually feel as if you are their only client! I started bringing my animals to this group way back when they were in Lakeview. After Katrina and I moved to Baton Rouge, I was so happy to find them again. They always take excellent care of their patients and you can tell by their interactions that they aren't "just" dogs and cats. They know the animals mean the world to you and they treat the animals with the same respect. I'm in the process of moving to Canada to be with my fiancé, and wanted to take my baby along with me. Even though I thought I had researched enough and found everything I needed-- Dr. Angelette went above and beyond to find additional information to ensure that my move would go smoothly. I don't have the words to express how thankful I am for the doctors Angelette, Heinz, and Grayson. My cat, Elliot, got sick with fungal pneumonia and was on the brink of death. He had a high fever, wouldn't eat or drink, and couldn't stay awake. We were not sure he would make it through the night and I was completely heart broken. They went above and beyond to find a way to treat him. Elliot is now back home with me. He is still on the mend, but progressing very well. I love this place! Our first time taking our beloved Prairie to a Louisiana vet and we were very pleased. Everyone was nice, polite, and helpful. Then, we took her back yesterday to get groomed, and it was the best experience I think I've ever had! Prairie is believed to be a corgi mix, and she definitely sheds like one. Wonderful! Dr. Heintz and Dr. Grayson are both compassionate and highly experienced doctors who always take careful time and consideration during our visits. We have boarded our dog there several times and he is always well taken care of. I have called for an emergency and got a same day visit with no hassle and full attention to our matter. My puppy fell off the couch Sunday morning and broke his ulna, radius and crushed his paw. We immediately called Dr. Heintz and unbeknownst to us he was hunting and still answered my frantic call. Dr. Heintz is the most compassionate vet that I have ever worked with. He immediately connected us with Dr Gary Sod (who has emergency clinic in St Gabriel and who is a fabulous surgeon) and he x rayed our puppy and gave us pain medicine and scheduled surgery for the next morning. The surgery went amazingly well and our puppy is healing. The staff at Dr. Heintz's office, Dr. Heintz himself and Dr. Sod are the best in town. We wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Who answers emergency calls while hunting? That should put things in prospective for you when researching a good vet in the Dutchtown/Prairieville area. We love them...you will to. Read Less
