Very caring and understanding vets. I've had 2 of my precious babies go into their care and they were always great about keeping me updated on their condition. They understand that not everyone can pay thousands of dollars to save their animal, but will do the best that they can to help. They tried to save my previous puppy after my ordinary vet had ignored her symptoms, but it was too late. They did a followup call to ask how my puppy was after seeing my usual vet. I had my dog euthanized yesterday at the EAC yesterday bc she had advanced cancer. I have never had anything but praise for the clinic but yesterday was a train wreck. Someone one else brought in a dog that had possibly been hit by a car. It's muzzle was taped to prevent biting but it's cries were LOUD. The dog screamed and screamed for a long long time(45 min?).Then my dog started screaming and I couldn't calm her. She was not an excitable dog. I have no idea why they couldn't have given the injured dog something for pain! I am still rattled and shaken. My dog would have been peaceful if pain relief could have been given to that poor animal. I had no other place to take my dog. Mine was about to bleed out. It was a nightmare!! I don't understand why critical, screaming animals aren't triaged. I never, ever dreamed I would encounter a situation like.that at the EAC. I've had nothing but good experiences and I've used their facilities often. The suffering dog, my dog and I were subjected to unnecessary trauma. I want to say had to take our baby girl this weekend due her being ill. I am so grateful for there kindness and there compassion during this entire time. Our baby girl ended up having to go over the rainbow. And they were so caring understanding and compassionate. Dr. T. Took the time to explain everything detail by detail. My family and i are truly grateful for how they helped us and took such good care of our babygirl Hope. It is a very sad hard time for us. SEVERELY OVERPRICED and TRY TO OVER-PRESCRIBE MEDS. My dog had a minor 2in x 2in superficial skin laceration that was a little too big for super glue, so we went to Animal Emergency Hospital to get stitches because it was right by the house. The initial estimate was over $500 which seemed extremely ridiculous. They basically treat stitches as a full blown neurosurgery. They charged us for anesthetics to put my dog to sleep and anesthetic reversal drugs on the back end to wake her up. I'm not a vet but I don't see why a short term benzodiazepine (like xanax) for mild sedation couldn't have been given. They also wanted to send us home with nearly $80 worth of narcotics, NSAIDs, and antibiotics. We only took the antibiotics. I've had to go get my dog stitched up before and it was like $250 and they put her to sleep. My dog's ovarian hysterectomy even cost less than the stitches at this place. Before the "operation", Dr. Trachtenburg came in and just handed us the estimate with all the charges and didn't attempt to explain anything. I happen to be a medical school and my fiance is a pharmacist, so we had an idea of what everything meant. But your average Joe isn't going to know veterinary drug names and drug classes and procedure names. Horrible! They prey on your emotions. Just pay attention to what is happening. My kids cat had been diagnosed as terminal. We knew the day was coming when we would have to make that tough decision. It was a weekend when our cat started having uncontrollable seizures. It was that time. We called them and explained the situation. They told us the cost and they were very understanding . We arrived...whole family...said our goodbyes and handed our cat into their care. Time passed so I asked what was happening. Oh the doctor likes to assess the animal first. They called us to the back and our cat was lying in the table...blind, confused and clinging to life. The vet said he saved our cat. Huh? He said in front of my children for about $200 more , he could run some tests on our cat to find out liver functions. He continued to talk...ok go ahead but inform me before doing anything else. We went to the waiting room. An hour later, I'm contacted by an employee. Real quietly , she said she needed to collect payment...all of it. The cost was only $780! They insisted on full payment and keeping the cat over night. I paid their ransom in front of my kids. Took the poor cat home the next day. Our cat never ate again. Called our vet on Monday morning. She was shocked at our ordeal but not surprised by this clinic's actions. Our vet was amazing. Put our sweet cat down at no cost because of this clinic. Horrible people. Spoken to friends and they have had similar experiences . Look at the response to the negative reviews vs the positive reviews. Nobody "likes" the positive reviews but the negative reviews have lots of responses. This place really needs to be put under review. Read Less

This office was able to see my pet and perform a minor surgery on her within 10 mins of sitting down. She was bit by a dog and had received an infection. Her wound has healed beautifully and the care and attention she received was outstanding. I should have written this review after that visit (I forgot). The reason I'm leaving it now is because I just received a follow-up call to see how my Miley was doing. They truly care about your animal here and I would recommend them to anyone! Read Less

If you are reading this at some odd hour, bordering on panic because a sudden illness or accident has threatened your friend, take a deep breath and head to this clinic. You will not find a second-rate, cheap substitute for your primary veterinarian. To the contrary, the level of care Dr. Trachtenberg and his staff provided exceeded that of most other Shreveport clinics. In my opinion, it ranks among the best in the area (regardless of their hours of operation). I can only speak of my experience with Dr. Trachtenberg. However, if his professionalism and compassionate demeanor is any indicator of the rest of the organization, you will be in great hands. Read Less

Wish i could give negative stars!! This place was absolutely HORRIBLE! PURE negligence. Claimed my dog "looked stable" and let him sit and die for hours until they went through all other patients they found worthy of their service. Did not hear an update for hours until a nurse came out and said "we just switched shifts so im not sure why this is happening but your dog is trying to die on us and we wanted to know if we should start CPR" And less than 10 minutes later he died. My dog gashed open her leg one weekend night. I called them and asked for a price on stitches the lady said that it would be $400 so I asked for some advice on how to treat it until the during the week and she just made a noise and said " Oh I don't know just wash it with water" she didn't seem to care at all just really sad no one can even take the time to offer a little advice. This was the second time in just over a year we have been in the need of the Emergency Animal Clinic and both times everyone was amazing. Unfortunately, this time we lost our sweet dog, Nora. Inspite of that, everyone at the clinic was wonderful. They even decorated her little box they put her in. Such a sweet, heartfelt gesture to try and bring a little comfort to a heartbroken family. Needed a vet for an emergency with my dog late at night. I was panicking and thinking that not only was I going to lose him, but also that there was no place to take him so late at night on a weekend. Not only were the people here professional and efficient, but they took and stabilized my dog immediately and then cared for him further as soon as they possibly could. The were sweet and caring with him, helped ease my fears, and then told me what they found and what they suggested without pushing me to do anything superficial just for money. The cherries on top of the whole visit? They found out more than the other vets that I had visited and charged me a rate that was incredibly affordable. I cannot recommend these people enough. I think the level of care may depend on which vet is on duty. We love Dr. Monceaux. The prices are VERY FAIR! We have been to the Animal Emergency Clinic 3 different times with 2 different animals. They are kind, compassionate and communicate with my regular vet. On 2 of the visits I spent less than I do at my regular vets office. We did see the same vet each time. The office staff is exceptional. They take great care of patient and family. I highly recommend this place and wish that it was open 24/7. Read Less

I didn't like a thing about this place. My wife and I took our dog to them. He is 12 years old. My wife has had him since he was 6 weeks old. He was wheezing and having a hard time breathing. The vet went into the room they had my wife. Started talking about cancer and lung disease. My wife's mom passed from cancer. So naturally she had a melt down. He didnt listen to his lungs or anything. Just slapped some oxygen on him. Then brought in a list of prices. Didn't care about the dog or our families feelings. Seen a dog that old having problems meant chaching. With feeding him with medicine droppers and had fed soft food when he was a baby. My wife took it all very upsetting. The next day and he wad back to his normal self. It cost us $80.00 to basically get told, "Give me thousands of dollars or take your dog home to die." When they our card the receptionist called and we could hear the disappoinment in her voice when she said "It went through." Cuz had it not they would have kept the dog and charged everyday until we could pay all of it. It took every thing I had to keep my wife from going back to tell them what she thought. Read Less

Ok so my dog was shot near his rib cage I bought him in they told me he was in critical condition n wouldn't live with surgery n still may die ling story short they were going to charge me thousands of dollars for the surgery . Asked to put him to sleep then offered to do it for free when I declined . I told them I'd take him home they threatened me about how he die and waited 30 minutes before releasing him . My dog is alive today with only being treated with antibiotics from a friend I paid 200 for oxygen and some veins that were put into his arm this vet is a joke and has probably ripped everyone off please get second opinions before visiting here ! My experience with this clinic was nothing short of wonderful. I was greeted by a very compassionate staff at 1 am upon discovering my lab had ingested a portion of her Kong toy. They immediately began treating her as soon as we entered the building. I never went more than 20 minutes without someone coming out to update me. Dr. Jones and her staff made me feel completely at ease. I knew that they were the perfect team to care for my four legged child. To be an after hours emergency vet, I was shocked by how reasonable my bill was! It was much lower than I had expected. The facility is also clean, state of the art and fabulously decorated!
