I have been going to Towne South for over 2 years now. The doctors, receptionists and kennel staff are some of the most caring, compassionate people I have ever met in my life! I moved from down south and looked immediately for an AAHA accredited veterinary practice to take my babies. This place blew me out of the water. The receptionists always greet my pets & me by name when we walk through the door & always make us feel welcome, even when they are busy! The vet techs are always cheerful & patient with the fifty million questions that I sometimes have. I have seen all 3 doctors & each one are amazing & so knowledgeable & down to earth. I've only boarded there a couple of times (as I don't go out of town that often) but I wouldn't go anywhere else, plus they get a free bath if they stay three nights or more & always come back smelling great! I always feel comfortable there & I know my pets do too. I've seen a lot of reviews that say they're expensive but I've had conversations with my friends & it seems they are either comparable in price or even cheaper in some areas. I just know the best care for my babies is at Towne South! Read Less

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE. I brought my 2 year old basset hound sasha in for some ear cleaning solution and a ointment to help her through a yeast infection, and her annual rabbies vaccination. She has had the problem with her ear a few times over the years so I know what she needed. I just moved to the area and needed to get into a clinic pretty quickly, so I ignored the reviews on this place and took her here anyway. I have 2 dogs both have been taken to a very good vet clinic in the past received shots, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and the ear treatment for sasha all for less than 150.00 USD. 2 DOGS less than 150.00.. I left this place paying 244.00 USD after a 10% discount for military. AGAIN 244.00. DR MACKEY OR however you spell her name is a professional con artist. She does not care about your animals. Anyone who says "I'll be honest with you" 50 times during a 5 minute exam, and then lies straight to your face is definitely a con artist so I have no problems with saying this. She tried to prescribe my dog 100+ dollar dog food for some mystery allergy that she diagnosed without any tests whatsoever. If you look at other reviews this will fall in line with others experiences. She changed for two separate tests to see if my dog had parasites. In the past this has been included with my exam fee. Also they tried sending me home with a tube to collect the poop sample myself. I mean it felt like her and her staff couldn't be bothered to do their jobs. Also after I caught on to her shady practices and refused some high priced treatment for her ears Dr macky left the room and never returned sending her nurse in to discharge me and she got an attitude after I asked her to clean my dogs ears. If you have a disposable income and like crappy service and being charged with everything fine take your animals here. I will not return however. To make things even worse sasha started throwing up when we left the clinic and continued through the night. I called the clinic in the morning and asked to speak with Dr macky about this. She couldn't be bothered to call. I will yelp, Facebook, and find any means of reviewing this place to let others know My experience. Again don't take your dogs, cats, rats here. Save yourself some time and money. Con artists. Read Less

This place is a joke. I have only dealt with two of the doctors as I have only been coming here for the last year and one of the doctors(Dr Mackey) seems to be only about money. She just wanted to put my dog on all sorts of medicines for itchy skin and just seemed like she didn't really do much with my dog yet I get charged so much for all these exam fees. Supposedly she did some kind of test on the skin but I did not see her do anything. They take the dogs to the back for everything so you have no idea what they are doing to your dog. I did not even ask them to do anything about the skin. she just said she noticed she had skin problems last time she was here so she took it upon herself to check the skin again. she also made me retake the heartworm test because my dog was 1 month past due on proheart. my new doctor told me proheart has a 2 month grace period and heartworms wouldn't even show up for 6 months so there was literally no point for her to make me do that other than she wanted money. the other doctor I believe her name was Hunter seemed to be a great vet. she was so sweet and seemed so caring and when it came to me actually asking about my dogs itching skin she was very helpful and did not charge me a bunch of money. also the boarding facility here is a complete dump!! I did a tour here because I was thinking of boarding my dog while i visited family for the holidays and that was an absolute disgusting mess. the kennel gates are rusty and falling apart. there are rusted out holes in the poles that hold the gates up. a dog could really hurt themselves on that. the walls of the kennels look like theyve never cleaned poop off of them. the whole kennel room stinks like they never really clean the cages. like they just spray them down with water and throw the dogs back in. the small cages on the other side of the kennel had hairs and smears all over the inside of them as if they were just half ass cleaned. nobody wanted to take the time to fully clean them out and instead just smeared the poop or whatever else all over the cage. then 90% of the little pvc/tarp looking beds are missing 2 to 3 legs! its supposed to be an elevated bed and yet its only got one leg.! the luxury and deluxe runs are NOT worth what you pay for them with rusty torn up beds that look as old as the clinic and then again pvc beds missing legs. the new place that i go to is SOOO much nicer. they are about as old as towne south but everything in boarding looks brand new. every run has nice beds in them and no rust anywhere. all in all towne south does not deserve the clients they have or the amount of pets they have boarding there. If they don't want to put the money into the place then they don't deserve to get our money. The main hospital looks nice and that's very misleading. They only spend money on the parts people mostly see. I can't believe they openly and proudly let people tour the boarding areas. I'd be embarrassed to show people that if I worked there. I'm sure if half the people actually looked at towne souths boarding they would not bring their pets back. there are way nicer places guys! bring your pets somewhere cleaner and safer! Read Less

Absolutely AMAZING place. My dog had to have a prompt unexpected major operation and has had to have necessary follow-ups since. While she was hospitalized they kept her comfy, took pictures, and called me at least once a day, but usually twice. They were extraordinarily knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, caring, and yet upfront regarding her condition and prognosis. They didnt pressure me to make expensive decisions and helped me to make a very educated decision regarding her care. They remembered us when we came back and made calls throughout her home recovery too. She is happy to return despite her ordeal. I couldnt be happier with her care and would recommend this place to anyone I know. I would say, price is to be expected and you get what you pay for. I wont go anywhere else! Read Less

I have brought my dog here a few times, and I am a fan. The doctors and staff are friendly and always willing to help. The place for the most part is clean, some dog hairs hanging around but Im sure it is close to impossible to avoid that. At the beginning they had be come in for twice a year check ups. My dog is 2 and I thought that was weird since I thought check ups were anual. I asked to only visit once a year and they accomdoated me. They are a little pricey, and the price of the annual rather than the semi annual visit was ten additional dollars. The only experience that I disliked was when my dog had a lump on his back and they examined it and said it was not cancerous or anything to worry about but wanted him to come back. Im not a vet, but it seemed like they wanted us to come back for more cash flow. I still go to this vet despite this experience. Read Less

On Friday November 29th, our dog was noticeably ill. We called all around town, googled, and found out Towne South was open. When we went in, with no appointment, they immediately started care on our dog. When it came down to it, we were given a difficult choice. We had to put our beloved family dog Beaux down due to his internal injuries. With lots of reassurance the entire staff took care of us and our furry son as much as they could. They gave us time to discuss what was happening, they gave us time to say goodbye, they also gave us time for a friend to arrive to watch our daughter as we put Beaux down. Not only were they kind and gentle to our dog, but also to us. They have even reached out to our family TWICE with condolences for our devastating loss. If we ever find it in our hearts to have another family pet we will have no hesitation in choosing a vet, it will be with Towne South.Read Less

I only used the boarding services here so I am only reviewing this service.  We normally use UVH on Kings as a vet and boarder but they did not have room since our plans to go out of town were last minute so we chose Towne South.  My dog was a 5 month old at the time and is a giant breed.  He was there for a week.  When I picked him up from Towne South I discovered a dog with extremely deformed legs and the staff did not even notice.  He had developed down pasterns also called carpal subluxation syndrome.  Please google this so you can see what this looks like.  The "ankle"  joint of the dog is usually up high above the foot, but with down pasterns that joint is to the floor or almost to the floor.  This gives the dog an appearance of having deformed, almost clown shoes-like feet.  Our pup's was almost to the floor.     I rushed him to our regular vet where they did x-rays.  The x-rays revealed early signs of hypertrophic osteodystrophy or (HOD) a very seriously growth issue that large and giant breed dogs are at risk for.  They are most likely to get it between 4-8 months and there are a number of factors that can cause a pup to be more at risk, overfeeding your pup, or feeding them the wrong food is the most typical, although the syndrome can happen sporadically.  Also it has recently been observed that puppy shots and stress could also put them at risk.  Now we had him on correct food and amount.  He had just had his shots though so perhaps that could have started it.  Or could have just been sporadic.  Regardless I was shocked that NO ONE at Towne South noticed his deformed legs.  It was very obviously and he was quite large at the time (60 pounds) and has short, black hair.  Seeing him come towards me town the hall I noticed it immediately  There was no excuse to not notice something so obvious.  Down pasterns are not always linked to HOD; it can happen to dogs that are stressed or are kept crated too much.  Also slick floors can cause it because there feet can not get a firm hold as they walk/run/play.  I do not know the quality of car my pup received because he can't tell me.  But he looked well fed (I hoped they fed him the food I provided, since HOD can be related to poor food/too much food I had the thought that perhaps they chose not to feed him the food I provided but who knows?), he was clean, and was happy like usual.  Even if the care is excellent here I just don't understand how they could not see the deformity.  I am sure it was gradual over the week, but even that morning it probably looked very similiar to what it looked like at 3:00 when I picked him up.  If they would overlook something so obvious, what else could they overlook in your dog/cat?    It took a week to get his feet/legs looking back to normal.  We got tons of rugs in our house and kept his activity low.  He never developed HOD thankfully.  I will never board him at Towne South again.  I never asked for a refund, because I did not want to step back into their office.  In fact I have a 20 dollar credit there. But it will never be used. Read Less

Quoted 300.00 as per discussion with vet upon bringing our dog in for a non surgical treatment and overnight stay. Contacted prior to pick up and informed other services were applied (without our consent) and that we now owed over 600.00! Paid the bill just to get our poor dog out of hock. Our old vet would have never pulled this sort of unethical stunt. If we were quoted a figure upfront, our bill would have reflected an amount similar to said quote. Felt a lot like extortion to us and all we received was an apology for not being more clear! Really?!!! Needless to say we will seek care for our animals elsewhere. Beware of their billing practices! ****IN REPLY TO YOUR RESPONSE: We are well aware that estimates can change, however, additional services were performed prior to our consent that resulted in additional charges. At no time during said phone call were we given an updated quote or different treatment options, plain and simple! Instead, we were told that additional services had been performed, resulting in a bill that was now more than twice the original quote. If customer service is something you take seriously, you may contact US regarding the matter! Read Less

Its with a broken heart that I have to write a negative review and share my unfortunate experiences at Towne South this past month. I'm pretty easy-going and like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but its important that I share my experience because we're talking about our pets, here, not how much we did or did not like a restaurant. About a month ago, we brought in our sick dog and she tested positive for parasites. We (gladly) paid over $100 for the visit and medicine, hoping it would help our dog. We brought in a stool sample once we completed the first round of medicine, and that test came back negative. A few days later, our dog was sick again. The vet recommended that we put her back on the same medicine for another week (an additional $60-70). We brought our dog back this Tuesday for a follow-up and told the vet that things still didnt appear to be getting any better. She was prescribed new food and another new medicine which, when added to the cost of the visit and stool sample test, came out to about $120+. When we KINDLY asked if we could be refunded for this visit (because it shouldn't have ever occurred had the medicine worked the first time), the vet rejected our request and told my husband, "look, man, my job is hard. I was outraged. I understand that each person might have challenges and difficult times at their job. But that is NOT a logical reason to deny us a refund for your services which havent even worked for us from the beginning. It appears to me, since my dog is STILL sick, that you haven't done much of a job at all, actually. You want to know what's hard? Having to fork over hundreds of dollars out of pocket on these visits and medicines because you got it wrong not once, but twice (actually, three times, but Ill get to that in a bit!). The fact that I'm leaving with an empty wallet and a dog that's STILL sick now that is hard. (Also, before you complain about having a "hard job," maybe you should think about who is on the other end of that phone and what THEY do for a living. I hate to break up your pity party, but believe it or not, people have it harder than you. You chose your profession, and you can choose to leave and do something easier for a living if it's really that bad over there) When I thought things couldnt get worse, I came home from work just three days later to find my dog lying on her bed in the living room. She got sick in her kennel, broke down the door to the kennel so she could try to make it outside, got diarrhea all over the house and also vomited twice. Can you imagine how I feel coming home to that after what we have gone through this past month? Can you imagine how my DOG feels? I dont know what the hell goes on over there, but you have got it ALL wrong when it comes to curing my dog. She had only gotten worse. I cannot even believe that we wasted so much money. Thats really too bad, because at first I thought we were working with a great vet. I hope you take the money you earned from our visits and put it towards training, education, and also business etiquette courses on how to properly communicate with your customers. We have already found a new vet who diagnosed her with something that none of your vets had even mentioned. Now shes doing just fine, and the staff there is so helpful and kind. We wont be returning to Towne South for any vet visits or boarding services. Read Less

Not my favorite place sadly. They over charge for everything, and scare you into purchasing things that aren't needed. Every time I went there was a new charge for a new "mysterious" ailment. Since I love my pups I would  pay, but it never seemed right. I would spend 400-600 dollars every visit, and my pup is in perfect health! Once I got a second opinion from another vet, and from what I was told; I was being ripped off. I have many friends who have stopped using their service due to many issues: Overcharging, not quality service, and neglect. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for quality, cost, or safety. Read Less

Read Less

I have 2 beagles who have had wonderful care at Towne South AH. We have visited all of the doctors and they are ALL wonderful. Our male beagle, Price, was treated for heart worms. Our female beagle, Lola, had a trauma last week that included a broken pelvis and a lacerated liver, and is currently recovering from surgery performed by Dr. Pritchett. They were genuinely concerned, and cared for my pets, including the front desk, who now know me when I walk in. Thank you TSAH, we are forever grateful!!
