I've been using UVH for a year now since we've moved to Shreveport.  I picked them because they had good reviews, my neighbor recommended them, and the facility seemed new and clean.  We've seen four of the vets at UVH in the past year -- Drs. Mirts, McNair, Spivey, and Gregorio.  They are friendly, competent vets.  But today I made the decision to change vets because, frankly, I've been putting up with their incompetent staff (mainly receptionists) for a year now and cannot deal with them any longer.  Every time I call to make an appointment, ask a question, or anything the receptionists either doesn't know what's going on or takes forever to give me an answer.  Candice is one of the competent ones that can answer questions but the rest are just clueless.  I've been put on hold so many times, longer than 5 minutes each time, which is so unacceptable.  Their fees are very high compared to surrounding vets, but the vets themselves are no more competent or compassionate than other vets out there.  I've used a lot of vets due to moving and can say that most all vets are very kind and caring but the reception staff are knowledgeable, quick, and responsive, UNLIKE UVH.  The straw that broke the camel's back today is the WEEKLONG wait for a simple heart worm test result.  I've had to call their office three times this week to see if results were back -- which was a big hassle because I was put on hold for so long every time.  It's the end of the week now and haven't heard from them or anything.  I called another highly rated, reputable vet in town and have made the switch.  Bye, UVH, apparently you don't want my money! The doctors & staff at University Veterinary Hospital are wonderful and truly care about our pets. The second we walk in the door we are greeted by friendly faces. We have used the veterinary services and boarding facility for years. Our dogs love this clinic. The doctors do thorough examinations of our dogs and call us with their findings. We also get a multipage report of our dogs health each time they go in for a check up. We recently had to rush our dog in after he had a stroke. The doctors immediately took him to the back and started treating him. Without their swift care and expertise, our dog wouldn't have lived that day. Read Less

I recently took our 2 1/2 year old dachshund in to have her 6 month wellness visit. Dr. Catherine "Cat" Foret and staff were absolutely fantastic. You can tell Dr. Cat is very passionate about her profession and really cares about the animals she works with. She did an excellent job of explaining and writing down a detailed guide, I could implement right away to maintain my dogs overall dental health. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of care our dog, Penny receives at University Veterinary Hospital. Highly recommend them! Read Less

I have had cats and dogs all my life. I have lived in many different cities and have known many vets. These people are definitely one of the best. My big husky/ malamute had a emergency and they were able to see him that day. Everything here is clean, organized, and professional. The vet explained what my dog needed, answered my concerns, and made me feel very comfortable about leaving my big fur baby with them. The next day, after the surgery, the vet called personally and let me know how everything went and when I could come get my dog. Now if I could only find such a great doctor for me!!! Read Less
