Not sure what was going on with my dog after noticeable weight loss and not being her normal self. I brought her in to be checked out and they diagnosed her right away with having a large mass near her spleen area. I am so thankful for the special care that my Dixie (black lab) has received here. She just went through surgery on Monday and I was a nervous wreck. The doctor was great at saving her by removing a Hugh Tumor the size of a volleyball and her spleen. Been going here for 15 years nowI stared going here when my dog was still a pupThey are really good they do not over charge give great advice you ask they answer.The staff is great the DR's are to.Love this Vet they know you when you come in and say who coming in today lol.Love this place will always go to them after 15 years they are friends to me like family. I was first introduced to this place after my Father passed and I took on his 3 dogs.  All were loved and fed well, boiled chicken, hamburger and milk bones 24/7 and milk, lol, but they weren't cared for medically.  You know how old people can get and my dad was old school for sure.  Well I needed to get this krewe up to date and healthy to introduce them to the dogs I already had.  We knew this was going to be a gigantic financial drain so there was a lot of calling around and we were suggested this place.  They gave a very reasonable price over the phone for everything that was needed.  Since then , and several dogs later I still call this place my vet.   They typically dont take appointments, just show up, sign in and wait maybe at most 15 mins and they take you back.   The two doctors that I have dealt with are very kind and confident.   I also come to them prior to every fireworks related holiday and pick up sedatives and the like for the sound aversion my one pup has and they are always helpful.Check them out if you are on the Westbank.  I have zero complaints. I am totally impressed on how Thor, my English Bulldog, was treated. He loves going there. He stayed there for 7 days while we went to Disney in February 2016 and when we picked him up, he wanted to stay with the girls, which to me is a good sign. He also looked wonderful . (on our first vacation he stayed at our vet, and when we picked him up he was a mess he had a bad sore under his neck and was drugged up) We went on another vacation and Thor went back , he was so excited to see his friends again. I was told that it was walk-ins only, so I waited for almost 2 hours just for them to see my puppy. People that came in after me was seen before me. I was told that I was gonna receive an email when it was time for her monthly heartworm pill and I haven't received anything. No emails, no phone calls, nothing at all to even see how she was doing. I was not satisfied the way the Vet was dealing with my dog. He was a nice guy don't take me wrong but his Vet skills are super rough...he needs to be more careful handling animals. My little one got an infection from just a vaccine. when she got it -she was bleeding a lot. i will never bring my dog to this place again..he was seen last oct...had to get some meds for his eyes & for his hotspot...i called them 2wks ago to get a price on his shots..well the rep told me the last shots he recieved from them was in 2010....I told them last oct he needed his shots so my question is if your're a vet why didn't suggest he needed shots(i thought that's what i paid for) aren't you guys professionals.???!!! why you give a RX if he wasn't updated on shots????...my baby will never go here again & i hope no one else bring their babies to this place!!!!!EVER!!! Friendly fast and affordable. They have spay and neuter for $50 in partners with the animal shelter. They took my baby in the next day for his neuter and had him in at 8 and ready to come home for 3pm. I will definitely use them for the other 4 I have because they are affordable and friendly! Did you know dogs can get "pink eye"? Well, conjunctivitis to be more specific. My dog Cayenne's eye was pink, pink, so pathetic looking! To the vet we had to go! I was shopping for a new Veterinarian as mine was incredibly pricey and I felt they continually pushed for things my dog didn't need. I am so happy I went to Expressway Animal Hospital. I called to see if I needed an appointment. They said no appointment needed, the Dr. can see pets from 2-5. After a little wait, not too long, the Vet took a look at her eye, diagnosed her with conjunctivitis (google told me this as well) put some drops in, and I was on my way. He was pleasant, to the point, friendly! The two ladies who worked the front office were great as well! I bet the wait could get longer if this was a weekend...but on a Monday afternoon it surely wasn't bad!Price was good too...$30 for visit...and then more depending on what you need. But, my other Vet was more than double that for a visit! Read Less

Worst Doctor's visit experience ever, I brought my Lovebird in for her first vet visit.I was very excited this excitement soon turned into a nightmare. Some assistant took the bird in the back without me!! Then 3 minutes later brought the bird in her cage back to me and says she is great and looks good. No examination, nothing I never even met the Doctor!!!!!! (Outraged) I did not have a chance to speak with him about my bird and her health. Then they charged me for a wing clipping she did not recieve. But by this point I was so outraged I just wanted to get out of there. I would not bring any animal to a Doctors office with this kind of attention to detail or service level. Dr. Louviere thanks for nothing, Sorry I never got the chance to meet you, all I wanted was 5 minutes of your time which I was willing to pay for and a few seconds to chat about my lovebirds health. I've had my fair share of waiting and dealing with vets offices, but this place takes the cake. Not only are all the receptionists rude, but you'll be lucky if you ever get to see an actual doctor. I could stand up at the counter for five minutes and not get a single greeting, then you get to wait forever (since they don't take appointments) only to hand your pet off to some stranger and have no clue what they're actually doing to your animal. Their blatant poor treatment towards me makes me question what goes on with my pet behind closed doors. How hard is it for the doctor to take a minute to speak with the owner about their pet? Obviously we bring our animals there because we care for their well being. At least pretend like you give a crap about their welfare instead of making me feel like you want to push me out the door and take my money. Read Less

I continue to use Dr. Louviere as my vet of choice even after moving to Metairie over 12 years ago and have known him since he opened his clinic probably 18 years ago. He is very honest and frank with his patients. His care is top notch. I would trust him to care for any of my pets. I board my animals there every time I go out of town and have left them for 2 weeks plus and they are well cared for each time. The ladies in the front have been there for years and are all very competent in thier care and concern. to whom it may concern: expressway animal hospital doctors and staff are always looking to protect the best interest of your pet. they will offer all options and let you decide what is financially feasable. sometimes that is a trip to the specialist, other times it is in-house supportive care. they' re not open on the weekend since Katrina, but the answering line leaves detailed instructions on what to do in case of an emergency after hours. they do not mislead you in thinking they are there 24 hours and offer a referral to a 24hr emergency care facility if you so choose. i disagree with the previous post...listen to the message before you hang up and keep dialing back for no answer! as to "misdiagnosed," there's only so much you can do with a limited budget! I brought my pet in on a Friday and over the weekend took a turn for the worse. I called the ""animal hospital"" over the weekend and left a message. I wasn't called back until Monday morning. Are you an animal hospital or a vet with 'animal hospital' in your name? Maybe a 24 hour animal hospital costs more but I'd pay anything for my pet to be well and a return call on Monday morning next time may be too late. And if your pet is bleeding, maybe that pet should be sent to the front of the line instead of having to wait after any other pet that is there just for their annual checkup... Like I said before and many would agree, I'd pay anything to ensure my pet's good health but ignorance is why I'll never go back here. On top of all that, my pet was NOT properly diagnosed... The best vet ever! I can tell you that I have had my share of being mis led and over charged by other vets. He has treated all 7 of my pets. I no longer go to this vet. the young girls that work there are rude and mean. You no longer go into the back with your pet. They bring them into the back and they do or don't do whatever they're supposed to do for your pet. They no longer let you come into the rooms with you anymore. My cat had to get an operation and stayed there for 10 days and I don't think they took great enough care of him. After I got him home, he puked up what looked like a maggot. My close friend brought two of her puppies there to have their tails docked and explained the situation that was having with the liter. They took them in back and CLAIMED they was fine. They said they looked them over and they was ok. A few days later, the puppies she brought into the vet, had died as well. Don't bring ANY of your pets to this vet. It's not like it used to be. The last time i was there NO VET spoke to me. The young girl came out and talked to me and was quite rude to me. Read Less

The vet and staff here are wonderful. They take great care of my pets and have most reasonable prices. I have many pets and would not think of going anywhere else. Have been with them for 20 years. This place was really great because it was so reasonable and the doctor did a great job. It is not the fanciest place but they take very good care of your animals and for a great price. My cat had a tumor removed and stayed there for 6 days and we were only charged 137 dollars for the whole thing. We had taken him to another animal hospital and he had a similar procedure done and the bill came out to 800 dollars. I high recommend this place if you love your animal but just dont have the money to spend on the fanciest of places. Read Less
