Nice atmosphere and the workers at the front desk were warm and inviting. I have two Cato that seen two different doctors and both were concerned with the well-being of them. The doctors are cool and very knowledgeable when recommending care. On a personnel note: I used to take my kids to the vet out in Ellicott City and they lied to me resulting in the unnecessary death of Smokey, my little friend. After spending $400 plus, the veterinary doctors here still cannot tell what's wrong with my dog. Therefore, I have to spend more money for their incompetence. Absolutely horrible. Don't take your pet there unless you want your time wasted by people who cannot communicate to you and overcharge you with a different amount at the time of service versus what they initially told you. Made trying to bring my dog to a new vet an extremely painful experience, and lied to me every step of the way. Made me come back as they didn't do what they'd promised, treated me as if my time and schedule aren't valuable. I'd give less than one star if possible. Read Less

The lack of compassion that we received from Dr. Herbert while putting our beloved best friend down was absolutely heart breaking. I've been taking my corgi here since he was a puppy. He loves coming here and Dr. Bean, who we usually see is amazing with him. She'll even sit on the floor with him for belly rubs during his check up. Through every emergency call they have been there and are far more affordable than anywhere else I've been. I called to them because I needed to put my dog down. The girl I spoke to I felt was not very compassionate or helpful. I've been going there for many years and have never had a problem. She wanted me to wait several days. I told her that he was bad off and she said well we can do a walk in but it would cost you more. I explained to her that I couldn't sit there and wait. So I took appointment she offered and I wanted to see if they had something I could carry him home in. I admit I was upset and might of said a few unpleasant things to her. She proceeded to put me on hold, never told me why. I was left on hold for about ten minutes so I hung up. I called back, the same girl answered and was going to put me on hold again. I said no, I just need an answer to a question and just wanted to verify that she had scheduled my appointment. Btw, I had to ask her atleast three times for het name. The office manager called me and said that she was in tears and I had to apologize to her. I said I wasn't going to because at the time I knew it would not have been a sincere apology plus I didn't it was right to force me to apologize. She said that she would have to talk to Dr. Hubert about it because he is the owner and would call me back. I said is that because if I don't apologize I can't bring my dog or my other cats in. She said no.... Which I knew was untrue. Sir enough she called me back and said unless I apologize I could not come there again. I even suggested that if the girl would apologize to me I would do the same.... That was a no. I've been going there more that 17 years. It didn't seem to matter to them. When I was a child my parents used them for all of our cats. So I picked up my records and I am now taking my dog to be put to sleep at a vet who told me to just give them a couple of hours notice and when I come in they would see us right away. I will take my cats there also. I admit I shouldn't of says what I said but I'm very upset about saying good bye to my sweet dog. My pets are my family. I'm still can't believe it. Chances are when I went in on Wednesday I would of apologized to the girl because by then it woukd of been a sincere apology. The office even said that they never had a problem with me and I told her that I liked every one there. I am really hurt but life goes on. The office manager also said that she would have to bring things to the girls attention. I always recommended this vet to everyone all the time but I won't be doing this anymore. I'm really surprised at Dr. Hubert. I always thought he was a compassionate person but I guess I misread him. He probably doesn't even know who I am.Read Less

During a hard time of having to say goodbye to my cat Yoda, doctor Bean was there with me during his passing. I loved how kind and understanding she was of the situation. Thank you Dr Bean for everything. We just received Yoda's paw prints in the mail today. Its still very hard to let go but getting that small memory/keepsake means soo much to me and my family. I've been bringing my fur baby here for the last 5+ years & they've ALWAYS taken good care of me & my baby. I've been brining my now, 9 month old Pitbull here for the last few months too & couldn't be happier with the way they handle & treat him. My grandparents have been brining their dogs here for 15+ years too! & I don't plan on switching vets any time soon! Ofcourse vet bills get to be expensive sometimes, but overall I'm extremely satisfied with the service & the love & care they give their patients. :) Read Less

I haven't had the $$$ to bring my cats for a while. When I got my one cat in they didn't make feel bad about it. I was treated like my last name was Trump!! I have used this Vet for every pet I have had. They are nice and caring. They show nothing but care and concern for every animal I have had. My Rottie loves going in to see them. They do not treat her any different because she is a big dog. I recently took a cat that was not mine in that was hit by a car and they contacted the owner and the cat received the care needed. This veterinary office has contributed to the long life of my beloved Coderz, they made it possible for him to live a long fulfilling 16 years. The employees there are all pet owners themselves and are very understanding of the pains an owner goes through with difficult decisions in your pets life. Unfortunately I had to put my bubby down, they set me up with all the information needed to have him cremated, and took care of it. About a week later I received his urn and in the mail, I also got a letter from the office. It had a sympathy card signed by everyone at the office and a paw print of Cody's paw. It was such a nice gesture and I'm so grateful to have one last keepsake. Read Less

I've been using this vet for 7+ years now for my dog and several cats and can't think of a single complaint. The only time I had an experience I would consider "bad" was with a doctor who I think mainly dealt with cats, seeing my dog and generally not seeming to understand the tone of voice/manners used around an unfamiliar dog, but, he has since retired (I think) so it's a moot point anyway. Every time I've called to make an appointment or to ask a question the staff is friendly and accommodating. They are patient with my dog who can get squirrelly around "strangers", especially ones poking and prodding at him.Our oldest cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes and Dr. Bean has been wonderful and extremely helpful with getting us prepared for and comfortable with this new set of challenges that come with caring for a diabetic cat. What set them apart for me was that they're not just out to drain your wallet like some places..several years ago when one of my cats needed emergency surgery they immediately knew what was wrong and didn't give us a run around or tell us we needed to have a bunch of bloodwork and tests done; they got her right into surgery, which not only saved her life but saved us a lot of money. I've tried a another vet that claims to have the best prices, but didn't really find them to be significantly less expensive, their wait time was ridiculously long, and we had a cat with an upper respiratory infection - a serious issue, for sure - but right off the bat they wanted to keep him overnight and run all kinds of tests to the tune of about $1300. We declined, but did have them give fluids, took him home and mixed Pedialyte with his food and he was fine within two days...Pedialyte is $6. I feel like we would have had a much faster, more reasonable experience had we just stuck with Anne Arundel Veterinary Hospital in that particular situation. Read Less

I  had a great experience with Dr. Shrank and the rest of the team here. After having multiple bad experiences at a different vet office I decided to switch to Anne Arundel Vet which turned out to be a great decision. Not long after switching vets my fiancé and I found out we would be relocating to Hawaii which was not an easy task by any means but the team here helped with that transition. Dr. Shrank double and triple checked all of the paperwork to make sure all requirements had been met to help ensure a direct airport release instead of having our pets stay in quarantine. We arrived in Hawaii and with just a bit of a wait we were in our new home with both of our pets and a huge sigh of relief. I highly recommend them as every one is friendly, helpful, and great turn around with appointments. When we return home I plan to continue using this vet hospital. Read Less

I have to say from the ratings I was scared to go to this place, but all of the places that  I call for x-rays were over the top, but this place was cheaper and I needed to see if my Boston terrier ACL was torn; one thing I have to say the place doesn't have carpet for dogs to sit on, and my dog love rugs to sit her bottom on when it's cold out, but other than that I really was ok with the place they were nice and assured me that my dog was safe in their care, my dog doesn't stay any where that is just me nervous Nilly, I am, but she was fine, staff was nice, but at the end they did quote me a price at first, but it changed at the end of service, I asked about it and they changed it to what I was quoted.  I have no negatives at this point. I look on this site first before going, but it didn't help, but it did turn out for the best. Thanks guys for taking care of my dog and she is now on a eight week plan to get better without surgery. We had a bad experience with this Vet as well. I had been a client of this office for over 15 years but with various Doctors as they come and go over the years. I had taken my dog in for a regular check up and he had swollen glands on his abdomen that had recently appeared. The Vet that saw him did not even give him a head to toe exam. She just looked at the swollen area and said lets get blood work. After going back again because the course of treatment was not working and about $600 later and x-rays, they said to do more blood work. Still she had not examined him from head to toe. I ended up taking him to the emergency vet in Annapolis, the vet got on floor with my very very very sick dog, started at his head and went to his tail to examine him to determine what glands were swollen and why. This vet did nothing like this at all except order blood work and x-rays and an x-ray specialists to view the results. Really!! Don't you know how to look at x-rays.....the emergency vet did and found unfortunately that my dog had other swollen glands in other places as well with a diagnosis of Lymphoma. We since have lost our beloved dog and $1,000 later I wish I would have choose the emergency vet to begin with. If you have a serious health issue with your animal, I would not recommend this vet. I would have saved $600 by going to the emergency vet and had the answers to help us deal with end of life care for my dog. It has been 6 months and my sadness is slowly subsiding but my companion of 8 years is surely missed every day. Read Less

We have been taking our Basset Hound to Anne Arundel Veterinary Hospital for the past four years – he receives expert care there and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, we actually moved out of the area a few years back, but continued to make the trip to Anne Arundel Veterinary Hospital because we were not able to find another vet that came anywhere close to what they offer. We are now in the process of moving internationally and very sadly have to say goodbye to the staff there – Dr. Shrank and the staff have done a great job preparing our dog for the journey, helping us navigate the USDA and international regulations for import/export, and completing all the paperwork required. The idea of having to find a new vet near our new home is daunting because I fear no one will be able to compare to the service they provided us and the care and comfort they provided our dog. I have used AAVH for over 18 years for all of my cats. Their care and attention is top rated. But recently, I made the difficult decision to have my 18 yr. old cat "put to sleep". Was told by friends and family that it would be peaceful for my cat. But I experienced quite the opposite at AAVH. The experience left me traumatized and the memory of my cats last moments forever etched in my mind. Would not recommend your beloved pet's last few moments being handled by AAVH. Read Less

My animals (3 dogs and 4 cats) have been patients of Dr. Herbert for many years. My dog Buffy needed knee surgery and my previous vet referred me to Dr. Herbert because of his skill as an orthopedic surgeon. He fixed a very challenging knee problem. I am an OR nurse and was very impressed by what he was able to do. Dr. Herbert even sent a sympathy card with a hand written note when my old animals finally died.Everyone at the clinic is very friendly. They treat the animals like old friends. There rarely is more than a 10 minute wait even though they allow walk-ins if you have an urgent problem. Their fees are quite reasonable also. You couldn't get a better group of professionals to treat your animal family. Read Less
