I bring a dog in that I found on the road and she definitely was walking around for a long time. She was limping and drinking water like crazy! They first tell me that she has a microchip so they call the company. The company tells them they can't contact the other company until the morning because they are closed. Then they tell me that I can't leave the dog there for one night. So my mom calls them and they tell her that they can take the dog. So they lied to me. They would want me to leave the dog on the road and just let her walk all night long and probably get hit by a car at night. You guys are ridiculous of an animal hospital. Read Less

On January 15, 2019, I dropped my Kitten off at Falls Road Animal Hospital for a tendonectomy. As time passed, I hadn't got a call informing me how Lucy was. I call Falls Road Animal Hospital at 3:30 PM and was told that Lucy had just come out of surgery and was doing fine. I figured that I would be picking her very soon. At about 6:00 PM, I called again to see how Lucy was doing and what time I needed to pick her up. The person on the phone told me that for animals that are spayed they typically keep them over night for observation. I was instantly sickened. I told the person on the phone that there must be some mistake. Lucy wasn't there to be spayed; she was to have a tendonectomy only. the person placed me on hold and never returned to the phone. Terrified at the thought of Lucy being spayed, I went to Falls Road Animal Hospital only to find out that Lucy had been spayed. I cried as I held my kitten feeling that I some how failed Lucy. The vet that did the procedure was Emily Steffen who had gone for the day. Another vet came into the room that I was placed in and apologized over and over. How could this happen? This is unacceptable!!!!!! I did not authorize Falls Road Animal Hospital to spay my kitten. Do not take your animal there. Read Less

ZERO STAR RATING. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.We had no choice but to take our dog here on New Years Day as it was an emergency and our regular vet was not open. Our dog ended up needing 2 staples. As soon  as we walked out of the door, we knew the one staple had been put in wrong, but thought, hey, they know what they're doing, it has to be in right. Fast forward a few weeks, we took her to our normal vet, and they told us what a horrible job the staples were, and needed to put new ones in!When I called Falls Rd. to speak to a manager or to the vet, I was put on hold, spoke to multiple people, then finally the vet we had worked with that day. NOT ONLY did she interrupt me, but actually HUNG UP ON ME. Right now I have a voicemail out to the "manager" they say, to simply voice my concerns. Trust me when I say, find another vet in the case of an emergency. They will do a terrible job and will pay you an arm and a leg for the bad job. Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!By far the worst vet experience of my life. Brought my 6 month old kitten here out of desperation (my vet was closed) to get an x-ray. $98 to walk in the door and they did take him right away. We were then brought back to an exam room to wait (without kitty). After about an hour they said he would need x-rays and needed to be sedated because he wasn't cooperating. NO SH*T!!! You had him caged up for an hour in pain! They showed us the x-rays (with very poor explanation) and said he would need a cast. Thanks for the diagnosis doc...Fast forward another 2 hours and we're still waiting for them to put the cast on. Now I'm no doctor, but there is no chance in hell it takes that long, especially since he was sedated. We asked the receptionist what was going on and she peeked back behind the wall and giggled "oh looks like they're taking care of him now!" Seriously..? They finally bring him out to us and he's no longer sedated, shaking and meowing - clearly traumatized. They hand him over along with some meds and gave literally zero medical direction. We had to ask a bunch of questions and asked to speak with the doctor that worked on kitty, but were told she was too busy. $700 and one sleepless night later (kitty is NOT doing well) I am beyond pissed. After reading some of these other reviews, it's a wonder this place is still in business. I don't know who the governing authority is in this situation, but somebody should investigate their practice because it's nothing but a money grab for the celebrity-wannabe owner Kim Hammond. I've been going here for a little over a year, mostly out of convenience because it's so close to my house. The cons have quickly been outnumbering the pros. You almost always wait at least an hour to be seen AFTER you arrive on time. The fees are also quite high. I was done today after I had set up an appointment to meet with a vet to specifically discuss removing my dogs dew claws because she catches them often and they bleed. The vet honestly told me she does not know much about dew claw removal. Which is fine....but a total waste of an hour and a half with a stressed out pup. The tech suggested I reschedule with a vet that has more experience with the dew claw removal....after asking me when I'd like to schedule the surgery with the vet I met with! They were nice enough and sweet to my dog but just seemed young and new to the field maybe? This isn't the first bad experience I've had here, just the tipping point. I don't know if there is new management or what. I was very unhappy and will be changing vets. Read Less

My 15 year old Shih Tzu was having severe arthritis related issues in his right hind-leg on the night of 9/8.  Initially, he went to sleep fine but, he woke up around 3am in immense pain and he was unable to put any amount of pressure on his affected leg.  It was clear his prescribed pain meds were not working and our family decided to immediately leave for the vet.  Knowing that Falls Road advertises "24 hour award winning care" we did not hesitate to bring him there.  We set him down as gently as we could in the car and drove a half an hour through a torrential rainfall to get emergency care.  When we arrived the lights were on however, the lock on the front door was bolted and no staff members were stationed at the front desk.  There was simply a sign on the door that said to "call" the night staff with the adjacent phone to be let in.  We did so, and the night-staff promptly told us that "they were in surgery."  We were then informed that the wait for ANY medical assistance would be ONE AND A HALF HOURS.  Completely ridiculous, not only that but, after informing us of the wait time no one came to the front desk or spoke to us in person.  They hung up the phone with no further consolation and left our aching dog to suffer in the rain.  We ended up having to drive another 45 minutes to a different emergency vet (where we were let in and helped right away even while they said the doctor was performing a surgery). This "hospital" let my dog and our family suffer much more than we had to by turning us away during their "scheduled hours." Falls Road Animal Hospital is filled with incompetent employees who falsely advertise emergency care and would rather do nothing than even attempt to do their jobs.  Sadly we aren't alone, there are too many horror stories coming out of this "hospital." The 1 star is for the actual vet. She was knowledgeable and walked me through my dog's xrays. I hope they are paying her a lot of money because if it had been a different vet, I would have pulled my dog out and left without paying.Who am I kidding. I actually did try to pull my dog out, and they refused to give me my dog. I arrive for an emergency visit. I was told that the wait would be an hour. They also force you to pay $93 before the visit even starts. An hour later, I asked how much longer it would be, and I was told it wouldn't be long because only 1 animal was in front of my dog. I watched dogs and cats with seemingly nothing wrong with them show up and be sent back immediately and leave. After an hour of that, I asked again when my dog would be seen, and was again told there was only 1 animal before us, so it wouldn't be long. ANOTHER HOUR PASSED.I asked for my $93 back so I could go to a different animal hospital to be seen. The receptionist tried to say there was 1 animal in front of me. I said, "You have been saying that for the last 3 hours. I'm done. I need my money back because you are clearly not going to care for my pet today." She told me to wait there, and then she disappear. And just like that, my dog and I were called back into a room.In the room, we waited maybe 15 or 20 minutes before the vet came to see us. she seemed to be great with Ellie but did not really feel like listening to me. She said we needed xrays to check my dog's heart and lungs. Fine. Let's do that.My adopted dog is scared of men, so I asked that no men work on her. The vet walked out into the hallway and immediately handed my dog to a man. I ran out in the hall and demanded no man handle my dog. The techs told me to go back in the room and calm down. I stood in hall and listened to my dog crying and helping as a large man dragged her away from me.Again, the techs told me to go back in the room, where I waited for 30 minutes. It does not take 30 minutes to xray a dog's chest, so I walked into the hall to find my dog. I was stopped by a vet tech who refused to tell me anything about my dog. I felt that something was wrong--that they were doing something wrong to my dog. I had to shout in the hallway that I demand my dog back immediately. The vet tech slowly walked to go find my dog. She came back to just tell me my dog was in a cage--A CAGE. She had been in a tiny cage for 30 minutes. The big scary man threw her in a cage after dragging her painfully down the hall. I lost my shit after that. I demanded that I get my dog immediately so I could go home. The techs physically prevented me from going down the hall to get my dog from the scary cage. I was forced back into the room.Eventually, the vet came and told me she was finally xraying my dog and it would be another 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, my dog was returned to me shaking, scared, and crying. She walked me through the xray and suggested I put my dog on anti-anxiety medicine because she was so worked up about everything. UHM NO! TRY TREATING ANIMALS HUMANELY! If she wasn't treated so horribly, she wouldn't be acting so scared.I don't know what they did to her at the vet when they refused to let me see her, but it has been a few days and she still will not look at me or cuddle with me anymore. Whatever they did to her there traumatized her to the point where she thinks that I did it to her. I will never go back there, and I encourage NO ONE should bring their animal there ever. Bottom line: Would not recommend in an emergency situation. My fiancee's German Shepherd got bit/or stung by something and we were under the impression it could have been a bee, as her paw started swelling. Then it eventually started spontaneously bleeding, her heart was racing and she was short of breath so we rushed her to the ER at Falls Road worrying about the reaction she was having. We called ahead of time to explain the situation and asking them to anticipate our arrival. When we got there the front office staff looked at us and barely engaged. They told us it would be a 2 hour wait for our dog to be checked out, and we understand there can be waiting times but our dog was visibly in distress, getting worse and bleeding in their waiting area. The staff was behind the counter complaining about how busy their day had been instead of offering comfort and assistance to my crying fiancée, who informed them that the dog was bleeding on the floor (they didn't clean that up, by the way). We decided it was best for our dog to go elsewhere as the staff was not triaging our situation and we felt that it warranted more attention than we were getting. We took our dog to the Towson Pet ER where they discovered after a quick exam our dog had been bitten by a Copperhead snake, which is venomous. The venom was causing her blood to stop clotting and her tissue in her foot to break down and become necrotic. It was a very time sensitive situation and we truly believe if we had stayed at Falls Rd she would have been much worse off because she was never adequately triaged in order to discover the emergent nature of the situation, despite our pleas for the staff to take a look at her. We took our senior dog here over the weekend because our normal vet's office was closed. They misdiagnosed her, telling us that she was dying (she's not), and tried to use that as a scare tactic to strong arm us into paying for expensive tests. They then informed us that they put her into oxygen without asking if that was ok, because "it's standard procedure when a dog is panting like that." What?! It's 90 degrees out and she's stressed because she's at the vets. That's not "standard procedure" anywhere. The vet tech then carried her out to us in a way that we'd specifically asked them not to because it can really hurt her with her condition (she has heart issues, so she can't be held in ways that put a lot of pressure on her chest) before literally dropping her into our laps. From beginning to end, from the front desk to the doctor, the staff was rude and grossly incompetent. I'm not sure where all the "best vet" awards plastered on their sign are from, because everyone we've talked to had warned us to avoid them unless absolutely necessary. Avoid them unless everywhere else is closed, and then I'd still advise you to drive farther to somewhere else. Read Less

We have used the animal hospital for almost 2 decades for both our cats and dog. But we continue to go back due to the wonderful care and advice of the doctors. Today was the last straw for us. We decided to try the grooming services at For Pets Sake. Our dog was dropped off for a walk in bath and nail trim. He was barely brushed when I picked him up; I am aware he has quite a bit of fur, but chunks were flying off before we even got out of the store. When we got home about 15 minutes later,  I was finally able to really inspect his nails. Some weren't even touched, some barely clipped and very ragged and sharp and uneven and one on his front left paw was clipped so short it is bloody. No one addressed this and let me know upon pick up. We will be looking for a new vet and groomer. Read Less

I had a pet rabbit, Papaya, less than a year old, who my vet, Dr. Anthony, convinced me I should have spayed as soon as possible. I wasn't sure about it since my bunny was still so young and spaying is such a huge surgery for a small animal, especially one with no male rabbits around, but Dr. Anthony convinced me it was for the best to do it asap because of the risk of ovarian cancer female rabbits have later in life, so I did it. I had my bunny spayed and I kept a close eye on her, looking for signs on how she was recovering. Everything seemed fine and then 2 days later, I woke up and she was seizing. I rushed her to the vet office, but it was too late and she died shortly after I brought her in. A vet tech or receptionist, I'm not sure which, was sent out to tell me the news and charge me the cremation fees. I never heard anything ever again from Dr. Anthony. My daughter nearly lost her previously healthy three-year-old dog this week due to the shockingly poor diagnostic skills, disorganization, and subpar treatment and attention she received at Falls Road Animal Hospital. Our family has used Falls Road Animal Hospital for the past several decades for numerous pets, and it has gone dramatically and dangerously downhill. My daughter's 3 year old dog presented as weak and uncomfortable after vomiting. The vet did an exam and said she seemed tender over her pancreas and suggested pancreatitis. After doing X-rays the vet said she either had gastroenteritis or had possibly swallowed a cloth-like substance that wasn't showing up on the X-ray films, and that she would give her IV fluid's and keep her overnight to repeat her X-rays and make sure her "gas patterns were moving normally". My other daughter, who happened to be there with my son-in-law, pointed out to the vet that our dog seemed to be walking "wobbly". The vet brushed it off and walked out. Again, my daughter got the vet and mentioned that our dog really didn't seem to be ambulating normally, and the vet again suggested it was just that she wasn't feeling well and left the room and told my daughter and son-in-law they could check out. My daughter then noticed that our dog's hind legs were displaying muscle twitching and that her head was lower hanging. She AGAIN got the vet who came in and did a brief lower extremity (only) musculoskeletal exam before saying it could possibly be Lyme Disease or another tick borne illness and she'd do a blood test. My daughter then video recorded our dog walking  and moving, and while doing so our dog's front legs gave out. Our daughter then urgently got the vet AGAIN and insisted that she do a more thorough musculoskeletal exam; the vet forcefully turned our dog's head to the left and right checking for pain and range of motion (as the story turns out, she ended up having a herniated disc in the C3-C4 location, so I cannot imagine this was good for it). It was only after this and all my daughter's prompting that the vet acknowledged a possible issue and said they'd keep an eye on it. By the second day we were told "the gas issue was moving through her system" and that she was doing well EXCEPT that she was having trouble standing. They said they'd be contacting a neurologist to see what to do next, but that we'd probably be able to get her the following morning. The following day my son-in-law was told she was still having muscle weakness and they were still waiting to talk to a neurologist, but that otherwise she was doing well and happy. He got there to visit her late that afternoon and when the tech brought her out to him she was practically listless on her side. Apparently the vet had been busy with other emergencies and hadn't seen her since the morning, and the tech's assumed that was her normal hospital state. My son-in-law insisted on seeing the vet who eventually came in and agreed it "wasn't good". The vet said she had tried to reach the neurologist but hadn't been able to. My daughter then immediately called the neurologist's number (which the vet had) and he answered on the FIRST CALL. Long story short after paying Falls Road $1500 for three days day of incorrect and neglectful treatment, our dog was taken from Falls Road on day 4 by my daughter to an amazing neurologist who immediately took the dog to Johns Hopkins for proper MRI imaging that revealed a severely herniated disc in her neck causing her paralysis and necessitating a three hour operation. The prognosis for her legs returning to normal is unknown at this point. Medical literature states that with a herniated cervical disc, the sooner the operation occurs the better the results -- and that waiting over 24 hours decreases the odds of motor function ever returning. So as a result of the Falls Road Animal Hospitals inadequate diagnostic skills, negligence, and lack of adequate attention and treatment -- as well as their failure to refer her to a neurologist for a neurological emergency sooner -- we can only pray that our precious dog recovers. DO NOT GO THERE. Read Less

I've wanted to change vets for years, but life gets busy and our dog was hardly ever there so I just kept going for annual checkups. Today was the last straw and we will never be going back. My husband took our dog in for an appointment to refill her "ibuprofen" prescription and get her rabies booster (she has a sore paw, she’s part Bassett Hound). Mind you, she had just been for her annual checkup on 12/15/17 so this was supposed to be a quick shot and refill appointment. She was seen by a tech and given her rabies booster and then my husband was told he would need to make another appointment to get her prescription refilled, despite telling them it was part of the reason for his visit over the phone while making the appointment. On top of needing to make another appointment at a different date and time, my husband was also told he would need to pay for a full vet exam before refilling her prescription. She just had a full physical less than 6 months prior, has been going annually for her entire life, and is in perfect health! As testament to how scheming Fall Road Animal Hospital is, my husband just got off the phone with Beltway Animal Hospital (the first other local vet he tried calling) and they said, “if the dog has a prescription and is seen annually there would be no reason why they wouldn’t refill the prescription and need an additional doctor’s appointment.” I think you all can read between the lines and see how I have come to the conclusion that they don’t care about the pets, they care about the money. I will be going somewhere that respects my time, money, and my dog and I suggest others stay far, far away from this crooked place. Read Less

Phenomenal facility, staff, and spirit!! We're over an hour away, but since they make spay/neuter procedures as accommodating and fees as reasonable as possible for foster families and rescues, we've taken many of our foster animals there. Dr. Hayward, Chloe, and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful. There's no question how much they love and care for every single animal they come in contact with. Yes, it's a large facility with 12 vets and many staff, but you'll feel as if you're in a small town vet's office. That's how tightly knit and close they are with each other and with each patient. The vets and vet techs were all very sweet. My kitty, Gus, was seen right away. The vets were very gentle with him even though he was scared. He had come in for digestive issues (I thought he may have eaten one of my hair ties and that he had a blockage in his intestines) but the vet said that he was most likely sensitive to the food we were giving him. I got medicine and special food for him right away and they gave him an IV of fluids just in case he was getting dehydrated. They really care about their animal patients and it's a relief to know that I can bring him back there any time of day or night if he had an emergency. Read Less

I'm in the middle of a really terrible experience with this animal hospital. I paid a lot money to get some tests done on my cat that isn't peeing normally. They asked me to bring her back a second time to take more urine the next day because they hadn't extracted enough. We brought her back which was stressful for her, but people make mistakes we figured. During this visit, the vet told us she would be out for two days. I assumed that our case would be passed on to another vet, but this wasn't the case. I've left messages, asking about my girl, but although they have said that they would, no one has gotten back to me. At this point they seem really neutral about the wellbeing of my cat. If she has a UTI, her infection could spread to other parts of her body over the several days that have passed since our initial visit. I am so concerned for my cat, and angry about the lack of service that we have received. I will update this as it progresses, but right now my advice is to choose another vet for your family. First time I brought my cats to get groomed by Ann (Old lady grey hair glasses) she clipped his nail to short on one of his back legs. We didn't notice at first thought he was just sitting around more often but after his limping I looked at his leg and it looked infected we took him next door to falls rd animal hospital got some antibiotics and he was fine.... accidents happens.. year later or so we come back with both cats see the same groomer since she was the only one available. This time she tells me there was a "struggle " with my cat and she had someone restrain him and that's why she charged a bit more for him. The cat seemed fine in my arms as she told me this. Later that week we notice he is laying in his chair more often not really moving around to much and wasn't pooping in the litter box.. we take him to the vet the one doctor says his muscles were pulled in his lower back gave him a pain shot We come back 4 days later because his condition seems to be getting worse walking around with arching his back.  Another doctor  who looked at him and at the x-rays and said that he has a herniated disc.  She also shaved the back of his legs wait to close they were red and Looked raw.The doctor suggested  to get an MRI which is around $2000 for a cat to get a more specific diagnosis to see if surgery is needed or not. The  practice manager Deb then submits a claim to her insurance to see how much of the MRI can be covered. What ever information that was sent to him which probably wasn't everything. He didn't  even talk to the doctors he made the decision. The insurance agent said there is no evidence saying that they are at fault. He can't prove that they were or weren't being negligent. So they can't cover his MRI.He then told me the groomer after he spoke with her said she didn't groom 2 cats or that she would've charged me extra because one of them was difficult to groom! ANN LIED TO HIM. And I told  their insurance agent that and that I have proof on the receipt that one of them cost more I have an eyewitness that was next to me holding the other cat that heard her say there was a struggle.  Today I'm gonna be putting my cat down because he can no longer support himself walking or his head for too long he can barely feed himself or drink water.  He is peeing and pooping all over the floor.  It's very hard to watch it's extremely stressful on myself and my family even my friends were close with the cat and have seen him for many years .. I would never come back to this location I will never get my cat groomed again by anybody it's just not worth the risk you can't trust people nowadays own up to their mistakes take responsibility for their actions and come up with a solution. I have seen other horrific stories in the reviews for the animal hospital and for pet sake ..I would never recommend anybody coming here avoid this place at all costs !!!! Read Less

EDIT AND UPDATE 3/20/2018: This became one of the most unreliable, unsanitary, and unorganized animal hospitals I have ever witnessed. I am never taking my pets here again out of fear that their disorganization might hurt my wonderful pets. I urge all who still go here to be cautious, extremely cautious, and of course make there own assessment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Took my kitten here for all of his vaccinations, early care, and neutering. I had no unexpected costs and was able to look at the price of all of the shots prior to paying. I thought some of the services were a little overpriced but didn't experience serious dissatisfaction when visiting this location. I received regular updates on my kitty when he had to stay overnight for his neutering (which was very cheap!). I did have an issue with my veterinarian. He was extremely condescending and when I made an inquiry into looking for healthier and more natural food for my growing cat he dismissed my concerns as irrelevant by saying commercial dry food gives cats all their daily recommended vitamins and minerals, etc. I mean, I can eat cereal all day long and get all my vitamins and minerals and even protein and fiber, but that doesn't mean it's the healthiest diet for me as a person. I'm not some faddist trying to subscribe to trendy pet diets, I just would like to ensure the longevity and well being of my feline companion and I intensely dislike being patronized by someone in the veterinary profession just for being curious. Also, the waiting area's shrine to the vet who caters to celebrity pets is rather gauche and not at all professional. Read Less

This morning I was getting ready for work when a show on Animal Planet was highlighting Maine Coons. I was overcome with intense grief as usual. About 5-6 years ago I took my beautiful 1 yr old Maine Coon here because he had unfortunately walked over a wax burner and got some on his fur. I rushed him over and they told me they would have to put him under to shave him and take care of the small burn he had from the wax. No biggie. Little did I know that would be the last time I ever saw him. That cat was the love of my life and I haven't EVER been able to shake the feeling that they did something wrong. There was no reason for that cat to have passed away in recovery. According to them, he made it though the "surgery" and died in recovery. When we went back there to see him one last time that back room was EXTREMELY HOT. I'm almost positive these people gave him too much anesthesia as another reviewer also stated. I asked if they ought to do an X-ray the second time I brought my cat in and she said 'no - only if he keeps pissing blood'. Thankfully I got a second opinion not at Falls road - they did an X-ray immediately and my poor cat had bladder stones. One surgery later with more than 30 stones he's fine. For Pet Sake is part of the Falls Road Animal Hospital and it is very disappointing to hear that their number one groomer is no longer there.  Zhanna was by far the very best groomer and the main reason I went there for the past ten years. She made a huge difference in my pets life and she was passionate about their well being. The new management requires each pet to get a wellness visit and shots even when this is not necessary for all pets.  Once again, the Falls Road Team is very focused on making $$$$ and not looking out for what is best for your pet.  Avoid this hospital, daycare and grooming facility, they only care about making money. In terms of the vets, I have had nothing but great experiences. They are friendly, caring and are really thorough when it comes to listening to your concerns ad checking on your pet. The vet techs are also very nice and caring. The reason why I am no longer going to bring my pet there unless it is an emergency is because of the wait time! Even with an appointment, you have to wait in the waiting room for 30-40 minutes before they see you and then when you are all done your appointment you have to wait in the waiting room just to check out for 45-1 hour. All of this is just so long that I am going to change to a vet farther away. The people behind the desk are friendly, but what the heck is taking so long to check out!? They aren't even faster when there is no one there. I have gone and been the only patient while three people work the front desk and still wait for 30 minutes to check out. It is bizarre and the only vet like it around. I would recommend them as great vets if you have time to wait! My dog is a senior with lots of health problems so waiting forever is not the best for him. And the fact that the creepy head of the place Kim Hammond has his picture plastered all over the waiting room with pictures of celebrities doesn't help- I'd rather see other vets taking care of animals than him with Britney Spears. I take all of my pets (3 cats and 1 dog) to Falls Rd. Animal Hospital. I first came in 2 years ago due to an emergency with one of my cats. Because of their professionalism and great treatment of my pets, I continue to go back. They are always up front with options for the various treatments my pets have received, are always considerate of cost, and the necessity of certain treatments vs. how effective they might actually be in treating the symptoms at hand. One of my cats had to come in for a week long treatment for a potentially life threatening condition. While he was there, I received calls from the attending vet (Dr. Anthony) every day and when I came to visit him, was always impressed by how much the staff cared about him. They even when out of their way to close off a room for him as he started to recover and was taken off the IV so he wouldn't be stuck in the normal treatment crate all the time, but still needed to be monitored. I was very impressed by this experience. Additionally, I had the unfortunate experience of having to put down a foster dog at their facility. It was an incredibly difficult situation and experience, but the staff was so compassionate and understanding. They even sent me a hand signed sympathy card from all of the staff members after his passing. I recently had an appointment for one of my own pets and one of the staff members remembered my foster and the situation. It was so touching to know that they cared enough to remember me and my foster. They also get bonus points for getting me in quickly for scheduled visits or emergencies. I have always been amazed at their ability to get everything coordinated so well, even when the staff has a lot going on at the front desk and you can tell their back room staff are very busy. One point I would like to make about the environment in the waiting area - while I know Dr. Hammond does a lot of work around the world to help animals and has met a number of celebrities, I go to this office for the treatment of my pets and they receive treatment from the excellent staff there. I would love to see more pictures of the vets, techs, and front desk staff that I am entrusting my animals' care to. Recognition of their work is important to ensure they know they are appreciated for the work they do and the compassion they show. They should be recognized as much as Dr. Hammond. Read Less

Of the 4 visits I had, I was only able to actually speak with a vet 50% of the time. Technicians did the other two. Now I know that some people will be okay with this, I'm not. I feel that the least a patient should receive during an office visit, is a direct conversation with the vet, no matter how brief it is, if they are really busy. That's reassuring. Not a single person here treated him like he was "just a stray", they were all incredibly caring and compassionate and they treated him just like any other pet. They realized that even though he wasn't our pet that he meant a lot to my family and they treated him as such. I am so thankful that he received such loving care on his last day. Call before you make the trip because they may not actually be open (even though they're advertised as a 24/7 vet).My dog, Frida, is special needs and has seizures so when we moved to Baltimore we had a plan for when emergencies occur.  That plan included a trip to Falls Road Animal Hospital since it is the closest emergency vet to us.  Frida has a history of long seizures and is at risk for status (basically a seizure that doesn't end and needs hospitalization and IV meds to be treated). Status can result in death because the dog overheats from the seizure activity.Last night 3AM she had a seizure and we followed our plan - gave her emergency meds, got into the car and headed towards Falls Road.  When we arrived, the lights were off and there were flyers pasted on the door. "Due to unforeseen circumstances [something or other] closed tonight from 12AM-6AM" and directions to two other emergency vets. We headed to Pet ER in Towson where we were greeted by a team of nurses and a vet who were able to treat Frida right away.  However, all of this was 30-40 minutes after Frida had her seizure given the 15 minute drive to Falls and then another 15 minute drive to Pet ER.Luckily the emergency meds had worked and Frida's seizure had broken before we arrived at the hospital, but had we been in a more dire situation I'm scared of what would have happened. Should status be an issue in the future, we may still have to use Falls Road (because every minute counts), but you can be sure I'll call before we make the trip and I won't be happy about it.  Pet ER on the other hand was super professional and very friendly. They were also very understanding about Frida's condition and the price was reasonable. Read Less

I have only been here once and I absolutely loved it! This will definitely be my new GO TO for my fur babies! I called them at 9 o'clock at night with for an emergency with one of my ferrets. Unfortunately I ended up having to put him to rest but the staff was so sweet and helpful and gave us as much time as we needed with him before we let him go. They then made us a copy of his paw prints in clay and even put his name and the date on it. It's been a couple of weeks now and we just received the SWEETEST card from them! The entire staff signed it and there is a little cotton paw print inside of it that it says to plant and it will bloom flowers in memory of your pet! Losing a pet is never easy but the staff at falls road animal hospital made it the best experience it could be ! Thank you all so much for your love and kind words! Read Less

My puppies' vet is Dr. Danielle Anthony and she is phenomenal! The care and concern she extends towards my pups when they are in her care is always great! I have Guinea Pigs which require "Exotic Pet" veterinary care. There are three vets in the Baltimore/Washington area I trust with the care of my herd and Dr Herko is the FIRST doctor I go to. He has seen every guinea pig I have ever owned at one point or another and has always done his best to provide comprehensive, compassionate and honest care. He is candid and tells me heartbreaking news when necessary because he truly cares about the welfare and quality of life of my babies. He understands the struggle of balancing love, grief, and making fair choices pet owners experience in the time of crisis. Falls Road is an amazing pet care facility. Their prices are reasonable for routine care. (I wish more of my visits were routine LOL) The staff are also amazing and are each equally dedicated to holistic care, for your pet, and for you, the Parent, as you tred the medical care path together. Thank you Dr Herko, triage team personnel, front desk attendants and all of the behind the scenes personnel involved that make it all happen. You are appreciated.Read Less

Yesterday was my first experience with Falls Road Animal Hospital and hopefully my last. I took my cat there because she had some vomiting and was listless. The girl at check in was rude and was just concerned with how much work she had and how overwhelmed she was. We saw the vet and she had told me that my cat would need all this blood work and go to ICU for what started out as one day then all of a sudden it turned out to be three. They then told me the blood work that was done was over 400.00 dollars and the rest of the bill would be over 1000.00 I called my vet once they opened and pulled my cat from here and took her to my vet. Guess what. The cat had some GI discomfort and today she is fine. Thanks a lot Falls Road Animal Hospital for trying to put me in the poor house. Read Less

My dog and 5 of my guinea pigs have been or are patients at Falls road animal hospital, we've done normal check ups there, PLENTY of emergency visits as well as getting one of my guinea pigs spayed there. I have seen a few different doctors over the years and ALL have been absolutely amazing, however Dr Anthony is by far my favorite. I've been through hell with between all my animals and there health problems but the staff at Falls road and beyond caring and just genuinely good people. They truly care. When my guinea pig Nibbler died a year ago I called them to let them know I needed to cancel his appt since he passed. A few days later I got a card personally signed by all the staff members saying how sorry they were for my loss and some of them even remembered him from my visits and said what a sweet boy he was and they gave me seeds to plant in remembrance of him. I was so touched by this sweet gesture. Every time I walk through those doors I am met with smiles and pets for the animals. Dr Anthony is so smart, caring and thorough in her exams. She spayed my guinea pig Fanny and did such an amazing job at keeping her healthy. We had some complications with Fanny after surgery and Dr Anthony made sure she was seen right away and did everything to keep her alive and healthy and she's doing amazing today. Bottom line: Falls Road Animal Hospital will treat you and your pet like a paycheck, not a patient. My cat had to have bladder surgery that ended up costing around $3,000. When I took him home, I was given three pills to give him twice a day and told to make sure he took all of them and to come back for more if he spits any up. Not only was I charged full price for each (expensive) new pill, but I was also charged the $50 office fee every time I was told to take him back for a check up (which was 4 times). It took a phone call with me in tears from not being able to get him to take his pain medication for them to tell me that it could also be injected for just a few dollars more, but I had already paid for the prescription and was not able to return the unused pills. During the final check-up, I had asked them to look at a small bump I found on the side of his body, but was told I would have to pay the $90 emergency fee or bring him back another time. Any question I had about my bill was met with annoyance and disrespect from their uninformed staff. I have never felt less cared for or more used in my life.Read Less

It is unfortunate that a place voted number one in Baltimore by its peers is so poorly managed in the front service department. My boys are patients of Dr. Wendall, whom I LOVE, but dread the wait and the lack of professionalism I experience almost every time I come. Today, my appointment was for 4:30 and I arrived early, but did not leave until around 7:30. My bill was over $1000.00., for a follow up visit, blood work and radiograph. On my drive, home I noticed I was overcharged by over $550.00. I called them to express my concern, but was placed on hold for over twenty minutes. I arrived home before actually talking to someone. Then, I was told to call back and speak to a manager the next day, even though they agreed they'd overcharged me. Amazing! The two errors that were made were obvious. Normally, I would review my bill before leaving, but was very exhausted from being there for several hours, I learned a valuable lesson. I have been recently informed that this office is under new management. However, they need to review their customer service skills and how to properly bill. I am hoping they get their act together for the sake of the relationship between Dr. Wendall and my two boys, she is the very best and my boys adore her!! Read Less

The only word for this place is bizarre. Truly strange. Our dog started throwing up bile and what I thought was white foam. We rushed him to the Towson Pet ER but the vet was going into surgery and it would be a 2 hour wait. The receptionist recommended FRAH as the nearest emergency vet.We get there and you have to call on the phone outside to be let in. We called. And called. And called. There was zero sense of urgency. When the vet tech opened the door, there was a laissez-faire attitude that never moved. There was literally no one else in the clinic besides us, the vet and the vet tech.We paid the $90 and sat down to wait in a waiting room that was filled with photos of the vet with celebrities. The whole place is dated but they spent money hanging those photos. Ok.The incredibly laid back vet tech took us back and their scales didn't work. We tried two and it was telling me that my dog had lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks. No, he really didn't. The vet comes in and while she was very nice, she also tried to scare the shit of us. She said it sounded like coughing, not vomiting (to her credit, she turned out to be correct) and that because of my dog's advanced age (he's 7), he might have physiological changes in his lungs so they'll need to keep him for 24 hours and do x-Rays and blood work. I was totally fine with the x-Rays and blood work but why would you need to keep my dog if you don't even know what's wrong with him yet?The vet tech came in with the estimate and hands it to us, with no explanation. It's $1400, on the low end, $1600 on the high end. I was gobsmacked. Then the vet tech looks at the estimate and goes "Oh wait, we forgot something. It's like $40, $50." It wasn't, it was $93. My husband and I were left in the room for half an hour, agonizing over what to do. By this point, it's 6 am and his regular vet will be open in 2 hours. The kicker comes when I realized that I have an invoice from April from our regular vet for x-Rays from when my older dog swallowed a ribbon. Our regular vet charged $63 for an x-Ray. FRAH wanted $250. With that, we left. We took him to our regular who took an x-Ray and diagnosed him with aspiration pneumonia and acid reflux. $422 and the cost of some Pepcid AC later, he's doing well. There are 9 pages of "not recommended" 1 star reviews. During rush hour traffic and 98 degree weather - a thirsty, hungry, and homeless, Poopsie, ventured into one Baltimore City intersection. At that same intersection awaiting a traffic light change - was yours truly which is when (my future dog known as) Poopsie caught my attention. Cars failed to stop. I was gasping, totally mortified as she was crossed a busy street and no one cared! Needless to say, before anything tragic could take place, I rescued my Poopsie from that intersection, bringing her to the safety of a new and loving home.Over the years, I maintained two Vets for Poopsie - one for 2x/yr routine local visits (because dogs are 3.5 years older every six months) and Falls Road Animal Hospital for unknowns, serious, or medically necessary visits.I decided this after I took her to several Vets for medical check ups - when answers seemed vague or (instinctively) not good enough. The only place who seemed to provide me with the answers was Falls Road.Having been through some tears but mostly happy years of healing moments, my beloved Poopsie has sadly moved on enduring a final three years with kidney failure. What must be acknowledged is the service, compassion, and skill of Dr Emily Reger. Dr Reger was the best; She was genuinely vested in my Poopsie, in my concerns, making thorough consultations, wise and practical suggestions, having amazing patience, and all the while maintaining a kind bedside manner. In my experience, Falls Road Animal Hospital is the Johns Hopkins of the Veterinary world. I am most especially grateful to the services and treatment received from Dr Reger who helped prolong and bless my Poopsie's life experience while under my care. Read Less

I had kenneled my dog there for what was supposed to be three nights. I received a voicemail from the daycare around 12:55 the next afternoon saying my dog had been taken to the vet, followed by a voicemail from the vet at 1:15. He explained what happened and indicated he had examined my dog and she was fine. My dog is not a she so my faith in his exam is minimal. He then tried to sell me $250 worth of blood work. I am still pretty unclear with what actually happened because information I've received was different from each person I spoke with. And, if I wanted any documentation, I was told I had to go to the vet and talk to them for it. However, I still got to pay $90 for the honor of that exam. You all have figured out how to get that information between buildings but not the information that matters to the owners and their pets. I also got to pay for the daycare when my dog was there for less than 30 minutes before the health issue allegedly occurred. Because of my concern for his health, I left my trip early to pick my dog up yesterday afternoon before they closed. When I arrived, the kennel staff were unable to locate my dog. They finally found him back on the vet side because he had had diarrhea at some point. I don't know when because no one bothered to contact me and notify me that there were further issues. When they brought my dog out to me he had several areas on his fur that were covered in feces. The care that my dog received was extremely upsetting, unprofessional and unacceptable. I will tell everyone I know about this incident in hopes that no one else makes the mistake I did. Read Less

I've been going to Falls Rd Animal Hospital for about 2 years now. I've never been very impressed, but it's close to my house and have never had any major emergencies, until recently. I brought my cat in for what turned out to be bladder stones. From beginning to end, the staff was insensitive and unprofessional. He was peeing blood, so I brought him in as an emergency appointment. The reception staff spoke amongst themselves for a full minute before I interrupted them for assistance. Then, once we were seen, the vet came in with a lack of answers. First of all, she was able to tell me that he had stones, but not which kind because there wasn't enough urine in his bladder. I asked that he be put on an IV or that we could be given medicine to fill his bladder and I could bring him back for a sample - no. She recommended, in fact, pushed for surgery without actually knowing what she needed to treat. He had a 50/50 chance of actually needing the surgery so instead of making him comfortable and waiting for accurate results, she wanted to open him up. The surgery was $3-5k that I needed to pay upfront. Do not be fooled, they will not establish a payment plan for expensive, and possibly unnecessary surgeries. At the end of a 4-hour visit, I was given 3 options: pay $500 for medicine that MIGHT work, pay $3-5k for surgery that MIGHT work, or put him to sleep. There was absolutely no effort made to find a better, more precise solution. Out of necessity to at the very least make our pet feel better, we chose the $500 medicine option and, after waiting 45 min to fill the prescription, THEY GOT IT WRONG. They only gave us 3 of the 4 prescriptions. If I hadn't checked against my original estimate, they wouldn't have given him pain management medication. I cannot stress enough how awful Falls Road is. Never take your pet with any serious illness there unless you would like them to tell you that if you can't afford treatment upfront, you should put your pet to sleep. Read Less

I took my cat here when she began to get really, really sick. She wasn't walking, she wouldn't eat, and she wasn't cleaning herself. So the only emergency vet that was close to us was Falls Rd. Animal Hospital. When we took her, they were very understanding and sweet (as far as I know, I was an emotional mess so I am not sure). My mother was initially hesitant to foot the bill to have her hospitalized, but she understood that this was important for me. We found out she was diabetic. They gave us special diabetic food, helped us learn how to use her insulin, the works. My baby was alive and I was happy! But being the type of person I am, I did extensive research and found that the dry version of the specialized food was actually really awful for diabetic cats! So I switched to the wet version. But it was becoming so expensive between the food, the insulin, the needles, etc. So I did more research and found out that this diabetic food is not at all necessary and is pretty much just a ploy to get more money. Switched her to wet Fancy Feast and was able to get her diabetes into remission pretty quick. The vets determined she didn't even need the insulin anymore. Yay! So after a while, I took her for a check up. And this is where I feel the care was unacceptable...They determined she had an ear infection and gave me drops to treat it. We followed the directions and her ear infection cleared up. Next thing I know, her blood sugar (I have a human monitor that I learned how to read for cats) was through the roof! Her diabetes came back. At first I'm struggling, thinking that I must've done something wrong...maybe I let her eat too much of our other cat's food...that's when I find out from another vet at the hospital that she should have NEVER been given ear drops. The ear drops contain corticosteroids, which apparently is awful for cats with diabetes and is known to sometimes trigger diabetes even in cats with no history of it. I got another prescription for insulin ($200 btw) and started her treatment again. Thankfully I was able to once again bring her back into remission. But I will NEVER take my baby here again. That's an unforgivable mistake in my opinion...the vet that prescribed the ear drops knew she had a history of diabetes. She didn't even explain to me that there was a risk that the ear drops could cause her blood sugar to elevate to dangerous levels. That's just not okay... Read Less

He has a feather cyst which could cost up to a 1000$ to fix. I told him I didn't have the money and he just pretty much looked at me like oh well then no surgery. Like I said he was a good Vet he explained everything very well but when your upset over your pet it's hard to deal with numbers being thrown at you to save his life.Just wish these Vets would understand how much our animals mean to us. Have something to set up payment plans. It's not fair to put people through that. Read Less

Ugh, I've been to about 8 different vets in 8 years since being a pet owner, and my experience here at Falls Road Animal Hospital was by far the WORST. Our cat was sick so I decided to take her here to get her checked out. 1) They are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. That's one of the only good parts. 2) One of the receptionists was incredibly nice and helpful- she was newer. The other two just rolled their eyes at me multiple times and made it seem like I was inconveniencing them every time I asked a question. 3) The base fee for a walk-in is $86. Not terrible, but wait until you find out what else they charge you for. Because it almost seems like you need to pay $86 just to walk in the door and fill out the forms. This was just the beginning of the most expensive, yet least helpful vet visit I have EVER experienced. 4) After the initial checkup, which was inconclusive (this is the general theme of the whole visit), I was asked if they could run some xrays because the doctor didn't know what was wrong and she said that the cat could PASS AWAY from dehydration tomorrow... Of course I agree after being told my cat could die at any moment. The xrays cost $255. ($126.5 for the radiograph. $82.5 for the radiologist consult and $44 for the additional films). Here is where I started getting irritated. What are these "additional films" that I'm not seeing? I only saw one set of xrays. Also, what is this radiologist consult? The same vet who first spoke to me just pointed at the screen to tell me that the results were INCONCLUSIVE so I really wasn't consulted by any radiologist. 5) Then, after we just spent hundreds of dollars just to be told that they still have no idea what is wrong and that these xrays are often inconclusive (which makes me think- what is the point of having an xray machine that pretty much doesn't do anything?), the vet tells me that we need to run MORE xrays and bloodwork. So at this point, I'm really feeling aggravated. They bring me an invoice for these additional xrays, which is going to cost an arm and a leg. The "low price" is $1000 and the "high price" is $1300. By the way, the "low price" doesn't include the "daily doctor examination" - which seems absurd because if I'm paying $1000, i expect a doctor visit! 6) As I'm checking out, I notice that they charged a "restraint fee" of $30. My cat is 13 pounds and apparently, it took 3 people to hold her down. That seems ridiculous to me because I'm sure 90% of the pets that go in there need to be "restrained" and isn't that part of the job!? God forbid I had a great dane or a bermuse mountain dog or they would have needed 6 people to restrain the dog and it would have cost $100! 7) Be very clear about what you want to pay for and what you don't. For example, if I had known there was going to be a "restraint" fee, I would have gone in there to hold my cat down because she's always much calmer when I'm around. They also said, "we are going to give her some liquids" and proceeded to charge me for them. Because they didn't present this as an option or a question, I had no opportunity to decline. They also ran blood work after I very clearly stated that I needed to consult my boyfriend who was fronting the costs. To be fair, they agreed not to charge me. 8) There are pictures all over the lobby of Kim Hammond and his celebrity clientele. Maybe you can get away with charging Julia Roberts an exorbitant amount for pet care, but blindsiding with fees and guilt tripping pet owners into medical treatments that only lead to more medical treatments (because apparently everything there is "inconclusive") is really unethical and cruel. Overall- feel free to come here if you have a limitless wallet, you want to get hit over the head with arbitrary fees, and if you want to pay thousands of dollars just to be told that they don't know what's wrong. The real issue isn't that I'm unwilling to spend money on my cat- clearly I am because I rushed her to a vet- but I want to know what I'm spending money on and I don't want to go someplace where they immediately jump to the conclusion that she's going to die unless I buy the most expensive diagnoses and treatments. I have to admit; I see the negative reviews about FRAH, and wonder what I've been missing.  My cats have been seen at the facility since 2003, and there hasn't been one reason for me to complain.  Yes, the waiting room does get backed up on occasion, but I'm generally seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time.  Yes, suggestions have been made for me to purchase certain items, but I have never felt undue pressure to buy extraneous or unnecessary stuff.  Yes, certain procedures are expensive (IV lines and teeth cleaning, for example), but the estimates are usually in line with the eventual cost.  Yes, I've heard stories about Dr. Hammond and his alleged staff of mean, evil, and incompetent vets and techs, but have yet to have run into any of these fire breathing individuals.  Every staff member has treated both me and my animals with the utmost respect and courtesy. My guess is that people come into FRAH with various (unreasonable?) expectations, and they get pissed when the actual experience is different.  The average individual presenting an animal for preventative and/or sub-acute care shouldn't experience problems.  Throw in a couple of emergency cases, and there may be a longer wait, but that's to be expected.  Sometimes treatment gets expensive; it's one of the risks associated with keeping an animal.   I have health insurance for my cats AND a separately allocated credit card - just in case I get hit with an unexpected bill. It's a strain on my wallet, but it's something that I chose to accept when I made the decision to take care of pets in my home.  Bottom line - FRAH is the facility that allowed me to bring my pet back to the office FREE OF CHARGE for pilling after mouth surgery when he refused to take his meds.  My youngest was neutered there and the staff bent over backwards to assist when three different cats had to be brought in for three different visits over the course of three different days.Falls Road Animal Hospital has always provided my household with outstanding service and care.  I stand by my rating and recommendation... I normally take my cat to Light Street Animal Hospital for veterinary care but this past weekend she had an issue that had the potential to be rather urgent and LSAH was closed until Tuesday morning. Every vet's office near me that had extended hours was booked solid so I brought her to Falls Road Animal Hospital since they take walk-in patients 24/7. FRAH wasn't my first choice since a lot of people seem to have strong negative feelings about them but I was mostly happy despite some minor reservations. As others have pointed out there is a bit of a personality cult going on when you enter the waiting room. The walls are covered with pictures of Dr. Hammond meeting famous people & treating animals in exotic places and articles talking about how wonderful he is. I thought that was all a bit ridiculous but the front desk staff was friendly & efficient so it wasn't all style over substance. Some people seem to take issue with the $86 emergency exam fee that's charged upfront but I'm not sure what they expect. Obviously it's more expensive than a typical vet's visit but I knew I was paying a premium for a facility that was open without an appointment at 9 PM on a Friday night.Once I got checked in everything moved pretty quickly. I was told I might have to wait about half an hour because the only vet they had was doing an emergency procedure but the staff was great about keeping me informed about the wait (which ended up being much shorter than they said it might be.) I can't remember for certain which veterinarian ended up being in that evening but I think it was Dr. Danielle Anthony. She was very friendly & professional and took her time explaining the problem to me as well as her recommended treatment. I did think that she was a little aggressive with some of the tests she recommended but she wasn't pushy about it which I appreciated. In the end the diagnosis was that my cat probably had an infection which was treated with a shot of antibiotics. One thing I noticed was that their default treatment was a relatively new and more expensive antibiotic which could be administered in a single slow-release shot. I was happy to pay a small premium to avoid having to shove a pill down a cat's throat twice a day for a week but people should be aware that FRAH isn't the sort of place where they'll recommend (or even mention) the cheapest available drug or treatment. All in all I was happy with the service that Falls Road Animal Hospital provided and I'm grateful that a facility like this is available 24/7. FRAH wouldn't be my first choice or recommendation for regular veterinary care but it's good to know that they're around for a real emergency .

Recently,  I have been less than pleased with the counter help and wait times for appointments,  especially having to wait close to an hour just for a tech spot. for a blood draw.

Anthony. No apology, no condolences, no explanation. Looking back now, after having done some research, I know I shouldn't have gotten Papaya fixed at that age, or even at all, but Dr. Anthony convinced me to, and I listened because I wanted to be a good pet owner, but she didn't even care when her patient died from complications from the surgery she performed. This place is horrible and I've warned every one of my pet owning friends and family in the area to never go here. Read Less

Read Less

This place used to be great back in the late 90s/early 2000s. I'm not sure what changed, but when it did the place went downhill fast and hard. I've never set foot in a more unorganized and dirty vet office. The employees are unfriendly, slow, and in the business of taking your money, not helping your animal.

Hammond. Read Less

My husband found an injured beagle in the middle of a median a few years ago in Baltimore. He was able to coax the dog to him and put him in his car and drove to Falls Road Animal Hospital. They sent him and the injured beagle away because we couldn't commit to an unspecified vet bill. We eventually found a different vet in Baltimore County who was more invested in the welfare of homeless, abandoned, and injured animals in our community, and they treated the dog and arranged for foster care. Cute commercials but it's clearly all about the money. Read Less

Falls Road Animal Hospital, and Dr. Barker in particular, are INCREDIBLE. My 12lb pup was attacked by a much larger and stronger dog and had multiple very deep puncture wounds as a result. Dr. Barker took her into emergency surgery and patched her up good as new. Our pup recovered quickly and today has no signs of having been attacked. They were so helpful with us, making sure we had all the information we needed at all times. Dr. Barker was so patient in answering all of our questions and regularly checked in on our pup by phone. After our experience with their emergency surgery we've since switched vets so that Falls Road Animal Hospital is now our regular vet - you can feel assured knowing your pet will be given the best care there. Though I loved the accuracy of the clinical diagnosis I received when I took my pet there, I was a bit under-whelmed by the office visits. Why else are they there? So, I took away 2 stars for the lack of vet interaction because I'm old school and like interpersonal interactions. Read Less

Yesterday I had to take in a neighborhood stray for treatment that has been coming around for food from us for years. The staff was very friendly and got him in quickly. Unfortunately we had to make the decision for him to be put down.... This is where my 5 star review really comes from. Not a single person here treated him like he was "just a stray", they were all incredibly caring and compassionate and they treated him just like any other pet. They realized that even though he wasn't our pet that he meant a lot to my family and they treated him as such. I am so thankful that he received such loving care on his last day. And thankful to them that they allowed me the time to say goodbye and be with him in his last moments. To me this shows they truly care about all the animals they see and their owners. Thanks to them a horrible experience was made less painful.Read Less

Read Less

I had two pet sugar gliders, Harry and Hermione, who I had taken on a couple of occasions to Falls Rd. for nail clipping and checkups.  It is difficult to find a vet with sugar glider experience and it is so nice to find one with 24 hour care.  My sugar glider, Hermione, had to make a couple of middle of the night visits to the ER in her last couple months due to what ended up being cancer and the vets took such great care of her and me. If you're looking for a vet with actual experience with exotics, this is a great place to go. Read Less

Dr Reger is Awesome! She genuinely loves her patients. We rescued a 14 year old Schnauzer that came with some health issues. After an emergency visit to Falls Road Animal Hospital, Dr Reger (and many other amazing Falls Road staff) helped us get our Schnauzer back to a healthy and stable little guy. She took the time to answer all of our questions and listen to everyone of our first time dog owner concerns. While we hope to not have to go in for another visit anytime soon, we truly believe that our newest family member will receive the best possible care at Falls Road. We are so grateful to have found this wonderful Animal Hospital!

Read Less

My dog, momo was under care for the last 5 years for checkups. Not once did the vet ever mention he was dangerously over weight. As a result, he is now diabetic. He was hospitalized for 4 days for around $3,000. Not once did they mention any complications of maintaining the health of a diabetic dog. Now, 5 months later he is blind. I called to board him for two days. They quoted $120 per night. This place is extremely expensive. I live in Virginia and the same services are 40% cheaper. Pros- Staff is friendly and competent. She called as she should have instead of showing up late as most clients do. Well, what did Falls Road do? They turned her away after her two hour drive! They told her she would have had to pay emergency prices since she was late to her appt. I will never be returning to this facility. We took our new kitten here because at 9:30 pm on a Sunday his eye was very red, had a lot of discharge, and he had trouble keeping it open and our normal vet was closed and I was too worried to wait until morning. He had an eye ulcer. It was an ok visit but I was really bugged by the fact that after they washed out his eye and gave us medication:a) they didn't show us how to apply itb) they didn't apply a dosage while we were there so we didn't have to worry about it that eveningc) they didn't explain really anything about eye ulcers in cats - I left just as worried and confused as when I walked in.d) the doctor never came back outWe were nearly the only people in there so they weren't pressed for time, it just felt really rushed for an "emergency visit." The walk in fee was expensive too. I'll be taking him for a follow up appointment to my regular vet, Charm City Vet in Brewers Hill. Read Less

I can't say they are the best cause over charging for keeping your animal alive is crazy. I understand the walk-in fee but after that if you don't have hundreds of dollars up front they want save your animal. To me that's animal cruelty. All animal hospitals are like this. But with that said, I brought my bird in the other day cause his wing was bleeding really bad I haven't even checked in yet and the took him back immediately. Which made me feel better, cause I was crying and was very upset. The Vet took very good care of Jeckle  (my bird) stopped the bleeding and packed it so it wouldn't start up again.

Read Less
