I have been going here for 8 years and recently, I changed vets because I couldn't stand them anymore. With each year, prices have dramatically increased, and with the new addition that they built, prices are over the top. I wouldn't mind paying high prices for good service but Marcie Engel is not worth it.She's an average vet when it comes to dogs. But when it comes to birds and turtles, she doesn't know what she's doing. She denied my turtle medication for anything other than pain meds after his accident, and as a result, he died a short while after I brought him in.I took my parrots to see her, and it was clear that she didn't have the faintest idea what could causing their health issues. So her answer was to order up $1000 in tests, most being unnecessary and having nothing to do with the issue at hand. So I took them to an avian certified veterinarian, and she thought she had an idea what it was, ordered up just a couple of tests, treated them for it, and all this x2 (for the both of them) for way less than what I spent at Brookeville for just two wellness exams and one blood test. Her care for my dog has been adequate (except for her exuberance in wanting to order up multiple and expensive tests) until it came to her allergies, of which Marcie's only suggested treatment plan was pills. They didn't work and Marcie was out of ideas. I took her to another vet, and all that was required was a simple elimination diet. No pills. It worked wonders.Every time I tried to get them to approve prescriptions that I wanted to order and/or get refilled through a well known and legitimate online pharmacy, I had to jump through hoops to get anything accomplished. Every time the pharmacy called or faxed for approval, Brookeville claimed to never get these attempts at contact. I only got approval once I brought in the form with me and stood there waiting and watching one of the veterinarians sign it, then taking it home with me and faxing it in myself. Even then, they would only approve one dosage without authorizing refills so I would have to go through this inconvenient process each time I needed more. I'm assuming this was all done to discourage my buying from the online pharmacy so I would just give up and order directly from their practice. Which would have cost quite a deal more money.I also didn't like the extremely long wait times, even when they weren't busy. And then for Dr. Engel to rush through my appointment and act impatient if I ever had any questions. It has also been brought to my attention by a reliable source that Dr. Engel made a rude remark about me when I asked to see her because I had some legitimate and important questions, such as a request for prescription refills, a request for her to look at some lumps on my dog's skin, etc.I'm not paying some one, and especially not at their rates, to be treated like this and to receive sub par veterinary care for my pets. Their well-being is important. Too important to waste time at this practice and in Marcie's inadequate hands. Read Less
