I've been bringing my pets here ever since I moved back to the Baltimore area about 3 years ago, and with every visit I like them more and more. My dogs have seen a few different doctors at the office and they've all been excellent. Dr. Hain has been amazing with my very large, strong, and anxious dog nephew--he's usually freaking out at the vet but he likes her so much he sits in her lap and actually lets her give him shots (at previous vet offices he had to be restrained by 6, yes 6, techs to get shots). I recently adopted a new dog and a few nights ago she got in a fight with my old dog over a bone that resulted in a late night visit to the emergency vet. The emergency vet must have sent a record of my visit to Paradise and the next morning Dr. King called me to follow up and make sure my dogs are doing okay, and to make sure I'm okay because she rightly guessed that I was pretty shaken up and upset about the whole incident. I'm really impressed that they care enough to reach out to their clients after a visit to another vet office to make sure everything is alright. I also think their prices are very reasonable! I used to be a vet tech in West Virginia, and usually everything is cheaper in WV, but Paradise's prices are actually the same or better. They've also recommended an excellent dog behaviorist to me, and I've been very pleased with that recommendation. Read Less

If you want kind, compassionate, and in depth care for your pet, this is the place. Every person you will encounter is focused on the care your pet needs and is given. Just remember that great care comes at a price, but I know exactly where my pet's health stands and that is what is most important. My parents take their cat there all the time. They have great doctors and health team for all pet. They take time to found out what wrong with your pet bo matter how long it takes. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this office is. I came in with an emergency and they took care of everything immediately and were understanding, honest, and comforting. They looked at my dog immediately even though we obviously didn't have an appointment (but seemed to keep things running smoothly out front as well) and took such good care of him, were extremely thorough in making sure everything was okay, and explaining everything to me. Mistook on an X-ray gas for a tube sock.  Threatened me that if I did not bring my dog in for surgery within 24 hours that she would need to be euthanized.  Told me to give the dog away if I could not afford the $1800.00.  Was adamant that my dog swallowed a tube sock and needed it removed immediately.  Called in the middle of extensive surgery on my dog and explained that the tube sock was merely gas.  My dog has at least a 12" cut down her belly because the vet mistakenly misread the x-ray and couldn't tell the difference between a gas pattern and a tube sock.  My dog will never be the same and is permanently scarred.  They also charged me full price for this horrendous misdiagnosis.  I am traumatized and my dog is too from their horrible experiment. We have been taking our two dogs to Paradise since we moved to the area last August and are been very pleased. Both vets we've seen have been extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate. Dr. Urie is a great vet for all animals specially for exotics. It is very hard to find a vet that does something besides dogs and cats and she is the one to go to. I have 6 rabbits and volunteer for a guinea pig rescue and have taken many of them to her mostly for spays and neuters with zero problems. We've been taking our cats to Paradise since we moved to the area a few years ago, and we love them so much that we drive about an hour from Montgomery County to Catonsville and have no desire to find a new vet closer to home. Their hours are super accommodating for working folks, they are quick to get pets in for emergency visits, and everyone on staff is just so nice. Our cats mostly see Dr. Loewenstein and Dr. Riehl (who we could not be happier with), but we have recently met Dr. Urie and thought she was also great. One of our guys has pretty severe dental issues and requires an annual cleaning and multiple extractions (poor baby won't have any teeth left soon) and Dr. Loewenstein, a dental specialist, is incredibly helpful and kind. It's a pain getting here but I wouldn't take my little guys anywhere else. Read Less

I brought my dog here for issues with his ACL and therapy. The staff here is absolutely amazing. They were very detailed in his initial exam and they spend a lot of time going over everything after each appointment. They are very flexible on scheduling and their prices are extremely competitive. I just recently adopted my first puppy and I'm so glad I chose to take him to Paradise Animal Hospital. The staff there were so friendly and made me and my puppy feel so welcome. They made sure my puppy was well and had what he needed. They also made sure I knew everything I needed to know being a first-time dog owner... Came in because my little pup was sick the week before and I worried about her eating habits. She also needed some routine update shots. Upon arrival to the dingy waiting room (this place needs a dusting and cleaning) I was greeted by my pet with my fiance, I was meeting them there. He was asking questions and the front desk person was on the phone and said "sorry you need to speak up people are being load in here", while yelling herself. That's a stellar first impression, so we finished the paper work went, had her weighed on the scale in the waiting room and waited to go in to be seen. Once being seen the vet tech was nice and did what she needed to and got several shots prepared. The Vet, Dr. Yuri came in, ignored my dog and went immediately to say that we can spoil a small breed. I explained what had been going on after that rude comment and said she can't have all of those shots she will get sick. She insisted she would two, and benadryl so now that's three (with the benadryl being in her muscle). So we did the shots, were told some disciplinary things to do, and new food to try. We checked out and to be honest I was really unimpressed: didn't type the list so it was barely legible, didn't offer a wellness visit like other vets (so the animal can get use to going to the vet), and barely looked at my dog. The next morning my dog was crying in pain from the shots (like I said would happen) and I had to return to buy a $40 medication to help, my "over dramatic small dog". By the next morning she was sick at both ends and a terrible mess. I returned to the vet (I should have gone else where that's my stupidity.) So they Dr. Lisa said it wasn't the shots maybe the new food (they advised) or something worst and I would need to get a blood test, have her stay there, and x-ray. Mean while the tech was going on about how my dog had already been claimed and someone wanted to keep her. Mind you I had already cleaned up after my dog about 14 times since 4am and some tech thinks it's funny to talk about stealing my animal. So $500 later and 30 min, everything is fine but her spleen might be big and they just so happen to have the sonogram person coming and I can $400 more to have them look at what probably is nothing or cancer. Seriously this is how the vet acted, I could tell if she needed or they just wanted money. When I said no we want to wait and see she got an attitude and didn't talk to us the rest of the visit. Gave us no at home instructions (like lite diet, look our for this, etc), and we certainly were not letting her stay with kidnappers. My pup was ill and had been poked and messed with for few hours the waiting room was filling up so I took her to the car so my fiance could pay in what felt like blood money, he asked what to feed her and we left. There was a follow-up phone call that proceeded with a rude front desk person that did not give the vet the right number after they said they would fix it the system so there was a lot of phone tag. I get that the vet is busy but the front desk is awful and extremely unprofessional. They will not help with weighing the animals, greet you nicely but they will talk inappropriately at the front desk and take your money. The only good thing here is that I didn't leave my pet here for the day, because I'm not positive she would have survived. Read Less

I drive past a lot of vet offices to get to Paradise. I go that far because everyone who works there is very sweet and loves animals. The doctor is very gentle and kind. I took my 2 year old cats here for their first visit this past Monday, and I cannot get over what a great experience it was. From the minute we walked in, we got great care and friendly service from everyone encountered. The waiting room was clean and spacious, for the short time we were there. The vet tech/assistant who checked my cats weight before the vet came in was wonderful and gentle, and my usual skittish babies were very relaxed. In fact, I was super impressed with the overall ability of the staff and Dr. Riehl to put my cats at ease. Even when we returned home they were more relaxed than usual, and not traumatized by their first time out of the house AT ALL. Dr. Riehl was kind and very thorough, keeping us informed of what she was doing throughout the entire appointment. Aside from Socks & Mittens being a wee bit chubby, they are perfectly healthy and happy little furballs. for 2 exams, parasite tests/waste disposal, and booster shots, we came out at less than $250, which I think is super reasonable. They're also very close to home. I'm so happy to have found a great local vet practice with great resources, compassionate staff, and awesome facilities. Read Less

I love taking my dog Pepper here for all of her doggie needs. From annual check-ups to routine nail trimmings, Paradise Animal Hospital does it all. It's a large facility that can accommodate many pets at once which I believe is great because they always seem available for same day or next day visits (depending on what your pets needs are). Flexibility is a huge deal for me when it comes to finding a good vet and I've never had a problem here. Their normal business hours usually begin earlier and end later than most vets/animal hospitals I've been to in the past. Friendly and knowledgeable staff! I brought my dog in (he couldn't walk in) and the friendly techs came out to my car with a stretcher and gently lifted him in. Turned out he had a mass on his spleen which burst and resulted in internal bleeding. The vet very kindly told me what was wrong, what could be done to fix it, the chances for recovery and possible recurrence of the mass, and (the saddest option) putting him down. Mind you my dog was old and had several lumps all over his body. She sat with me on the floor with my dog as we went over my options and gave me the time to talk to my family prior to making the hard decision to put him down. I feel like the people here actually care about the pets and their humans. I loved my little buddy and Paradise made his last moments comfortable for him and straight forward for me. I strongly recommend them. Cost (X-ray, ultrasound, and euthanasia-$260)I also have another dog who is a patient here. He loves it. Unfortunately I felt like I was made to feel like my dog was worse and needed more medical supplies than needed just to add to the bill. He came in with a cut on his face not bleeding or stitches needed. However, the visit was $58 bucks but 162 dollars later we came out with pills, cream, cleanser and dog funnel. Guess what, I only used the the products once the day we got home. And it healed up naturally on its own. So really the cut on his face, essentially a knee scrape to us heeled on its own for free. All my dog needed was a funnel. Now I give you the place is clean and staff is friendly but are they expensive and willing to make a penny off of you. They even wanted to run all sorts of test and was making it to be worse than it really was. Anyhow, I'm not saying they are completely in the wrong. My gut just says after all said done and heeled, that we pay a fortune for unnecessary reasons, but I guess they can say they were being thorough with the visit. Read Less

Dr. Loewenstein is the best vet I've ever seen.  She's so nice and friendly - I'm not sure this vet ever has a bad day.  She takes her time with my puppy and treats him as if he's her own.  As a first time pet owner, I have a lot of questions. She answers every question without rush and provides great advice.  I've seen other vets and they do not compare to her.  I wish she treated humans! Read Less

I am not sure where all of these great reviews come from, but as far as keeping "accurate records" these guys are not up to par. While Dr. Wareham (sp?) is great, their staff is not up to the task. We adopted a cat from them, they lost the records from the cat we adopted from them, and then had the audacity to claim we were bad pet owners when we recently used them as a reference. Now the dog we were trying to adopt is still in limbo and we are left with a few sad kids. I do not want to pat us on the back, but you would be hard pressed to find more attentive and loving pet owners. I would stay far away from this place. Great location and good customer service. I've taken a cat there for regular care/shots as well as my rabbit. They were able to see me for an urgent appt on the same day I called which was nice. The staff are very nice as are the vets. I received some some good advice for some preventative care for my rabbit who has recurring dental issues. They also are one of the few clinics in the area who do spay/neuter and other services for those who have rabbits! Clinic is on a quiet country road right off of Belair Rd. They take time to hear what you are saying and reply in a kind way. Different doctors have seen my guys over the years and they have all been great. I called to make a last-minute appointment for a minor emergency with my hedgehog, and they fit me in same-day. The staff was very nice, Dr. Urie, who treats exotics, was great. She gave me lots of helpful advice and provided recommendations for my hedgehog's diet. My hedgehog had to be given laughing gas in order to be examined, and everything was done so very quickly and efficiently. Dr. Urie even gave her nails a trim while she was under, at no charge. This was my hedgehog's first visit to a veterinarian, and I will happily return here for her future visits. I wish I could give different aspects of this clinic different ratings. We have a cat and a dog we've been taking to this vet for years and we would have given them a higher rating in the past. Currently, I would give the vet techs I've talked to 5 stars. They have been friendly, cheerful, helpful, willing to answer questions and give thorough explanations. I would give the vets 4 stars. They did a great job on the surgery our cat needed and provided great after care. Why not 5 stars? They prescribed dry food for her when dry food worsens the condition she has. We didn't know that until we talked to a specialist in bladder stones and were upset to learn that carefully feeding her the prescription diet may have made her stone worse. What really lowers the score for me and has me looking for another vet are the people at the front desk. I'm sure some of them are nice, but the people I have talked to have varied from a range of quietly cold to outright rude. I'm really surprised by this and it makes going to the vet a really unpleasant experience. Also, they mixed up our pets medical records several times. So, even though the medical care itself is fine, I'm looking for a new clinic. Read Less

Our 9 month old Bernese Mountain Dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and Elbow dysplasia. A friend recommended Paradise Animal hospital and rehab to us and we couldn't have asked for a better place. Dr. Burke is incredible. We had our first consultation with her and she took 1.5 hours checking our puppy and answering all of our questions (and we had quite a few!). She is such a positive and professional person. Parking is a BI**H sometimes. Not really their fault.And aside from that, I have no complaints.My dog's name is Jade and my sister usually takes her here but sometimes I go too.I don't want to boast but I feel like my dog is incredibly cute. :) And maybe because of that, they treat us really well haha.Seriously though, the service I got the last 3 times I've been here were exceptional. Usually "fast" means good but in this particular case, they took their time. They're careful in taking care of our dog and treat her well. My dog doesn't shake as much as if she'd go to other places. We've been taking our dog here for 5 years and we all feel like we're in good hands. Dr. Medcroft has been our main vet and she's extremely personable, understanding, attentive, and knowledgeable. They do a great job with sending reminders of upcoming visits and shots. My only complaint would be that I feel like they may rely a bit too much referring you to specialists. That may be the case with other vets. I would like to see a bit more willingness to diagnose and test a problem before suggesting we go to a specialists. However their referrals have always been to excellent vets. Read Less

Paradise Animal Hospital has been a dependable source of pet care for us for over a decade. They know our dog, they keep accurate records, they have consistently delivered excellent service, and they're always willing to talk through any issues or treatments until everyone understands and is comfortable. We've been going there since they were in their old building, and we've always been happy with Paradise's service.They keep up on new veterinary techniques, treatments, and technologies.  They have a very experienced staff of veterinary doctors, and a competent crew of technicians and assistants.  The facility is kept well, and doesn't give me the heebies like some other vet's offices I've been in.  In some cases, it's nicer than some HUMAN doctor's offices I've seen.They're a little more expensive than some, but still reasonable for most services. But, you are paying for a modern facility and a level of performance and service that a lot of other clinics will not be able to offer. Follow up services for illness/surgery are very good, and the staff show a genuine concern for your pet, especially if you are a regular patient. Read Less
