Looking for a new vet in the area for my young cat . My last vet retired but worked out of his home. This is what made this charming to me as I loved the personal experience I had with my other vet. Today was our first visit. Everyone was professional and kind with my very timid cat . Everything seemed clean and affordable with great interaction with my animal. This used to be my go to vet, but Dr. Vergheese is absolutely the worst!!! Somehow I feel that still is an understatement. I took my 7 month old puppy in for a small cut on her tail, he sent me home with antibiotics and pain medication no bandages no nothing. A week and a half later I go back because it has gotten worst, he recommends amputation about two inches should be removed he says, I reluctantly agree since my dog is now bleeding everywhere. Dropped her off the following morning, get a call later in the afternoon come pick her up she is good to go. I get there and he had removed 1/2 the tail! He explains it was worst than he anticipated, blah, blah. Tells me to keep the bandage on for five days. Five days go by I take off the bandage and the sutures are coming out and the dogs tail is bleeding. My wife takes the dog back, he claims that this is something not typically the dog must have done something, deflects all responsibility. She ask how much and he quotes her the same for the original procedure and let's her know he can deduct the cost of the blood work since he already performed it. My wife decides to wrap the tail to see if it will heal itself, two days later she goes to change the bandage and notices it looks better and wraps it again. Two more days and the tail looks like it's drying up. Apparently the tail developed necrosis and further amputation is needed. Dr Vergheese now says he has no time and that I should go see a specialist..... what a hack! Avoid at all costs!!! Read Less

I had to put my chocolate Labrador Cocoa down today. She would have been 13 years old on 8/20. Dr. George Vergheese came out with his assistant to where I had Cocoa's brother Blade buried. We had just located to the Silver Spring area when our Son's dog became very sick. The Dr. and staff were able see kruger immediately. Bonifant had a complete lab and surgical suite in house and were able to diagnose her while I waited. We have made Bonifant our Vet away from home. I highly recommend them. Read Less

Randomly found them on the Internet when our dog got hit by a car. He took a potentially stressful situation and accommodated us right away. Put us completely at ease with his calm and professional attitude. Best part, he didn't charge us a ton of money either. He cares about the animals he sees, his staff is super nice, clean facility, and they don't take advantage of you as a client. Absolutely one of the best. Read Less

I and my 2 dogs have been with the "Doc" for 12 years. He's the reason that they have lived (in good health ) for this long. He's knowledgeable and professional and great with dogs. Any additional years that I have with my dogs I attribute to the "Doc" and his caring staff. Read Less

I wish I could say good things, but Bonifant Veterinary clinic missed the fact that my cat had a serious blood clot and needed immediate attention. Instead, he gave me an appitite stimulant and told me that everything looked fine. My poor cat died the next day. I will never forgive this man. Do not take your animals here, ever. Read Less

Terrible. It's located in the basement of a house and looks extremely unprofessional. There is a malodorant smell and looks dirty. I brought my 80 pound dog to cut his nails and when herefused to go in, one of the vet tech's was very rude and just watched me struggle. She then coldly said that if I can't bring him in, she can't cut his nails, which I already knew and did not help the situation at all. She spent no effort to help and obviously didn't care. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Go the extra 10 minutes to a place that actually cares about their customers such as Fairland Animal Hospital - they actually helped me carry my dog into the building with 4 people. Read Less

While I am very fond of and have a lifelong relationship with my current vet, she is 12 miles and 30 minutes away. With all I've been hearing about the canine flu I finally decided I needed to act. For years I've driven by the Bonifant clinic (3 miles and 5 minutes from my home) and decided to give them a call on Sunday (not expecting a call back until Tuesday since it was Labor Day Weekend). Dr. Vergheese called me back within an hour and said I could come in on Monday. I reminded him that it was a holiday and he said, "that's the benefit of having the clinic in my home." I'd be lying if I said my dog had a great time, but he only had minor complaints :-). I, on the other hand, was totally impressed with Dr. V's bedside manner and his calming nature.
