I have been taking my dog to this vet for several years now. Dr. Tibbs, Dr. Owens and Michelle and the rest of the team there are phenomenal. The love, care and expertise from the vets that Zola receives here is wonderful. They are very careful with her, they know her history and making appointments with them is a breeze. Seven almost eight years ago, I was driving my dog back and forth to a vet that was an hour away and now it's only a 20 minute drive. I will always take my dog here and recommend my vet to others as well. Read Less

I've only dealt with two vets in total, but I can say that I really love Dr. Tibbs and his staff. The clinic itself is small, but the service that he and his staff provide is very kind and thoughtful. My fiancé and I just moved to the area and were looking for a local vet for our cat's yearly checkup. Once we scheduled an appointment with Oakcrest Vet, we came in and got all her records with Dr. Tibbs' staff. During the exam, the vet assistant held our cat down and made sure that she was doing ok in a new environment. The assistant was petting our cat and I just knew that she really cared about her. Dr. Tibbs was also very helpful in helping diagnose some of the behavioral problems that our cat was having and is very knowledgeable about cats. He answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of information about what he was doing during the exam. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Tibbs and his staff if you are looking for people who genuinely care about your pet and also explain what is going on with your pet. Read Less

Honestly I’ve given this vet three chances to try and make up for the previous experience but it doesn’t get any better every time I go. I wanted to support the black business so that’s why I decided to return the second and third time. The older male vet has a major attitude problem. I looked at it as him being older and that just his personality but if I’m paying my money I need good customer service especially when I first meet you. The clinic is very old and you can tell that the owner does not invest in his business. The tools they use seem to be from the early 90s and nothing has been updated. He shows these very old VHS tapes I guess to educate you but I can go on YouTube to watch a video. He would rather pop in a video rather than explain anything. Everything looks outdated which was a red flag to me. Lastly I get the impression that the vet is money hungry. Before moving here I was going to an older vet who stated my pet ( 1 1/2) was very healthy and I always keep him up on his shots. The vet named everything in the world that was wrong with my dog and always recommend surgery to fix it. It went from a skin irritation (hot spots) possibly being skin cancer (what he stated) to my dogs eyes needing surgery because his eyes teared up. Every visit some Type of surgery was recommended.Nonetheless I went to another vet and they begged to differ. No issues with my dog. The good thing is they give this very nice calendar at the end of the visit which is very thoughtful. Read Less

The staff at Oakcrest are awesome.   They have taken amazing care of both the Maltese I've owned with compassion and medical expertise.  My dogs are like family to me and Dr.Tibbs and his staff have always been caring and accommodating whenever I brought them to his office for treatment.  One of my dogs was elderly with a number of health issues.   Dr.Tibbs did not perform "guess" work to treat him.  He performed tests that provided the correct diagnosis and treatment the first go round which, in turn, had my dog feeling better sooner and less expense in the long run for me.  I also found their prices to be very reasonable considering the high level of care they provide. I took my cat to Dr. Tibbs for the first time.  My cat had suddenly started vomiting so I searched for a local Vet and found Dr. Tibbs 5 minutes away from me.  Yes you walk in and there is no fancy waiting room its a small place but I didn't have an appointment.  we waited a few minutes and he got us right in. My cat ended up having kidney stones this was 2 weeks ago.  It has not been an easy recovery but Dr. Tibbs and his staff were good to me and my cat everyone was attentive and answered my questions, made good recommendations and I have been back several times due to complications and the staff has always fitted me in.  No matter the outcome I will continue to go to Dr. Tibbs as I trust him and his knowledge and professionalism.  I don't need bells and whistles.  I needed Dr. Tibbs he will always be my vet for my pets because he and his staff care for their patients and for the owners.  Yes he is busy and most days he doesn't even get a lunch break and in one of the reviews I saw someone complaining about having to wait 45 minutes well keep in mind you may be in an emergency situation with your pet and he will fit you in and that is going to mean that someone with an appointment is going to have to wait but some situations are life or death.  Thank you Oakcrest Vet for all you do!!! Don't let its looks confuse you. Doctor Tibbs and Owens are there to answer your questions and make sure you're put at ease. My 2 year old leonberger had started to lose a lot of hair and I took him in for a visit. I let Dr. Tibbs know I would pay for what tests needed to be done, but was on a budget. The team did a great job explaining what each test was for and why they were doing it. It's evident that they have your pets best interest at heart. Dr. Tibbs commented on my dogs nails and that I should be clipping them more often. It's honestly great to have someone willing to be so kind and honest with me!! The place isn't very welcoming as far as appearance goes and its very small. The lady at the front desk was nice but I wasn't really on a search for a nice receptionist. I took my two year old puppy in for a check up. He is my first dog and just like a first time parent I had many questions because I am still fairly new to this. I arrived around noon my appointment was at 12:15, I didn't get called in until about 1pm. The doctor put my dog on a scale and asked me what my concerns were. I told the him about his that made me feel something was wrong as he weighed and took his temperature  expecting him to answer my questions and elaborate on the things I asked about. He pretty much said he couldn't tell me anything unless he did some blood test. He took out all of the tools to draw my dogs blood without me consenting to it. I'm thinking he can't possibly be charging me for this if he's doing it without asking. So he rubs a spot with alcohol to draw blood, calls his assistant to hold my dog down and puts the needle to his chest... THEN he decides to tell me how much it would cost. At this point I'm thinking, "this is so unprofessional, he is in such a rush, he doesn't even seem like he likes animals. It just seems like he wants money" I declined and couldn't wait to get out of there. He kept pushing me to get the blood test and even kind of tried to make me feel silly about my concerns and kind of laughing at the fact that I expected some type of advice without paying for blood test. I was really disappointed and I will never take my dog there again. I should've done better research. This is the first and only review, that says something and I should've known better because the exam fee was pretty low. But honestly, I could've weighed my dog, took his temperature, and looked in his ears myself. That doctor needs to care more about a scared owners concerns rather than money or at least pretend to.
