Recently our cat Cody became ill and we did not have a Veterinarian.  We called and they were able to get us in within 2 hours.  Every member of the staff was so friendly and supportive. They were excellent and thorough with examining our Cody, explaining and consulting on needed testing.  Then when we found out that our Cody was much sicker than we thought and we had to make the hard decision to put him down.  The empathy and support by the staff as well as professionalism was appreciated.  We were devastated and they really handled a hard situation well and made us feel as good as we could given the circumstances.  A few days after our hard day, we received a card signed by all the staff and included paw prints of our Cody.  I would recommend checking them out. They offer a great shots for life program which we have taken advantage of with each of our dogs. I am beyond frustrated with this place. Last year when we got our dog we went for a check up and vaccinations. We were told about their vaccine for life program and figured it would be a good idea. We were told what would be included and how it worked. Well after they gave all the vaccines and I go to check out I find out my dog was given a shot that I did not approve. When I expressed my concern I was told I had to pay for it bc it was already give. Needless to say I was pissed. I also told to provide a stool sample but never was told it was like $40. So anyway a year later we go back for a wellness check up and her vaccinations. I made it clear when I requested the appt on app and on the phone when they called to confirm that we did not want the canine influenza, Lyme or a fecal. My husband takes the dog to the appointment and in the midst of trying to keep our dog calm the girl explained what she was getting. He didn't think twice to double check bc he knew we had said twice to them no to the for mentioned items. Well they gave her the Lyme vaccination again. Plus we were charged a office visit which I was told would be covered for the wellness/vaccination examination. Well in true money hungry fashion they said we were misinformed. Each visit we had cost me over $150 each time. I can go to the clinic and get vaccinations for $35 no office visit charge at all. I'm done wasting money here. Read Less

This used to be an amazing vet clinic. Unfortunately, once they lost the female doc & moved into their new building they became money hungry. It now costs me $155 for one blood draw and 4 weeks of seizure meds for my small dog. They refuse to refill her meds without the  hundreds of dollars worth of labs. The same service used to cost under $50. They also try to add extra services to jack up the bill, including unnecessary shots and tests. We've been going here for 9 years, and this week was our last visit. I would not suggest this vet to anyone. Read Less

Went there today because I knew my cat had gotten out and contracted worms. I had never been there before and faxed over his medical history to speed up the process. Right when I came in they were ready and I didn't have to wait. I was happy until I saw the bill..this place is expensive. To stick a q-tip in my cat's ear and look at it under a microscope for a minute was $40. Also, I told them that I already had ear medicine (turns out he had ear mites too) and to check if it had the same ingredient list (you could see the bottle I was given on his medical sheet). This would make it so I wouldn't have to buy another bottle of the same thing. The doctor still gave me a bottle which cost $40 and when I got home I discovered they indeed had the same ingredient list. Add up the actual visit to see my cat and the tapeworm medicine..it was starting to get close to $200. Then the doctor wouldn't even administer or help me with the first dosage of medicine, which had to be given to him today anyway and one was in his ear (if you have ever tried to give medicine in a cats ear you know that it can be difficult to do it alone).Overall, I will not be returning Pros: Fast service, pleasant front desk associatesCons: Expensive and the doctor wouldn't help me with the first dosage Read Less

The techs are AMAZING! Seriously cannot express my appreciation for every last one of them. My anxious dog is put at ease by them and loves them all. If you are looking for a vet, I truly advise you to AVOID this one! This is a brief review but I also have a review on google that has a link with an extended review, I HIGHLY recommend you do for the SAKE of your pet. After posting a flyer there for homes for kittens; a vet, Dr. Sinclair, from this establishment, contacted us saying she could help and done rescue work herself since they were feral. I told her that we wanted to get the young mother spayed and explained that once caught, I would need to bring her there immediately as I had no place to keep her in the interim. She then said I could bring her in any weekday, but not a Saturday. Well we brought her and one of her kittens (daughter decided to keep one) on a Tuesday, only to find the clinic had no knowledge of what was going on. We had nothing but trouble from that point on with this vet! We had to board the cats for 3 days in cages they weren't use to, power went out so no copies or receipt given but sent in receipt in email with no copies of any other paperwork signed, they signed up the kitten for the "shots for life program" only to be told at the recheck exam 3 weeks later that they decided to reject it, they wouldn't let us visit the cats at all during the interim before their surgery on Friday, request multiple times the Dr. call us and never did, day of surgery we called concerned to see how the cats were doing only to be told our phone calls were "disturbing" them, and got a letter from the office manager Heather stating we weren't a "good fit" for their clinic and after the recheck to never return. OH AND IT GETS BETTER! During recheck exam, Dr. comes in the room for less then 7 mins for each cat, refuses to check kittens spot on head since it is a recheck exam and says to schedule a different exam, technician gives the remaining shots only to have the Dr. come back in because the kitten needed the rabies shot. The bill stated a recheck exam AND a brief exam for kitten even though the Dr. refused to check the spot on head, the kittens shots, a technician fee to give the shots, and a lady behind the desk saying thank you and don't come back. Another pet owner in the waiting room asked what was going on when we were upset about the bill before we can explain everything, Heather, comes out and yells at us to LEAVE NOW! . These people are thieves, con-artists offering help to lure you in, and extremely nasty to people who dare question their ridiculous fees and charges and fake programs or show concern for their pets. I have been at my own vet for over thirty years with 10 different cats and my daughter at hers for three years with her 2 cats. I would highly recommend either of these vets. Two stars because honestly, we received decent care here overall, and the staff is nice - kind and caring. Cannot say the same for Dr. Verma, and his attitude around end-of-life decisions. In 2014, our fifteen year old cat Spike stopped eating. Tests at Elkridge Animal Hospital determined he had cancer. When we went to pick him up, we could hear him howling in pain even before he was brought into the room. Dr. Verma told us that Spike was going to die in the coldest, most unsympathetic manner imaginable. He was not open to the idea of at home euthanasia, and unwilling to recommend any veterinarian who was. As soon as he understood we weren't going to pay him to put our cat to sleep, Dr. Verma turned and walked out of the room. Spike was in serious pain, so we called Dr. Verma back into the room and asked for painkillers to lessen his suffering until a home visit could be arranged with a different vet. Dr. Verma then lectured us about our cat becoming dependent on painkillers - as if that should even be a consideration for a cat he'd just informed us had only days to live. At this point I started crying. Spike was howling in his carrier, and Dr. Verma was more worried about the abuse of feline pain meds than ensuring his patient didn't suffer. My partner literally had to beg this doctor for the medication. He gave us two pills, and walked out without another word. He didn't say, "I'm sorry for the bad news," or, "I understand how you must feel." Instead he said nothing, showed no compassion or concern for the obvious pain of the animal in his care, or for the sorrow of the animal's guardians. When we got Spike home, he couldn't walk anymore, and was still howling in pain. Online, we found a wonderful, compassionate veterinarian willing to make house calls. He sent Spike to rest that night around 10pm. A month after Spike's passing, we received a lovely sympathy card from Elkridge Animal Hospital. Several staff members signed it. Do I even need to mention Dr. Verma's signature was not among them? I will NEVER take another animal to see this doctor. A cardboard cutout of a veterinarian has more compassion. Read Less

Unfortunately I had to make the hard decision to have her put to sleep when she was having trouble breathing. They tried meds for 2 weeks but it didnt help and I didnt want her to suffer. They were so kind to me and didnt make me feel like I was terrible for "killing" my best friend. Very frustrated with how my dog and I were treated today!!! I have been going here for years and have spent A LOT of money. I arrived ON TIME for my dogs annual check up. My dog gets very nervous while waiting so after 15 min I checked on how much longer it would be especially because of her shacking and heavy breathing. The nice young lady at the front desk went to see for me as I went back into the exam room where I waited another 10 min with NO explanation. Finally a women came in and said sorry for the wait but there was an emergency and a Doctor would be with us in a minute. I waited 5 more minutes with my now OVERLY anxious, scared, and hyperventilating dog!!!! I had to go at this point. My BIGGEST issues with this office today is lack of COMMUNICATION sooner!!!! If I was 30 minutes late they would of NEVER seen my dog. Imagine my surprise when I came in for my dog's first set of vaccinations after having purchased the plan, only to find out that neither of the two vaccinations (six month bordetella and Lyme disease) were covered under the plan! My boyfriend and I rescued a dog so we took her to this hospital for a check up.  We were extremely over charged for every thing.  She was put on 6 different medicines and we were told to come back in 2 weeks for additional testing.  Two days later we received word that she tested positive for giardia.  We were told we would have to come back in 3 weeks for additional testing and more medicines.  I had a lot of questions since I never had a dog with giardia.  The first person I talked to could not tell me anything about the illness. I called back later in the day with more questions on how to treat the giardia and spoke to someone who made us completely paranoid to even allow our dog in the house.  The vet tech made it seem that we would haveto extensively clean the house daily to help rid the dog of the giardia.  The doctor prescribed additional medicine but when I asked how it would interfere with the other medicines I was told he never read her charts.  After he looked at her chart he prescribed different medicine. I asked for a prescription so i could fill it at costco but was denied.  I was quoted $50 for the medicine but when I showed up it cost me $61. After speaking with my boyfriend that night I picked up all of her records the next day.  We took her to another vet and was told the giardia medicine should've cost us $5.  We had a new fecal test completed and it was $30 cheaper than at Elkridge Animal Hospital.   Not only were we over charged for the medicines but we were told if we request a prescription they are legally obligated to write it.  When we told the new vet how often the vet at Elkridge Animal Hospital wanted us to come back and for all of the tests she told us it was unnecessary.  Not only did we get overcharged but the doctor missed a yeast infection that our dog has.  We will not be taking our dog back to this hospital and we will not be recommending it to anyone. Very unhappy with my service at Elkridge animal hospital. Took my 4 year old Chihuahua in because of fever and chills. They did blood work and urine test and exam. They then told me my dog had diabetes. Started on insulin and spend over a thousand dollars in vet bills. I took him back for a glucose curve and they told me on the phone he was going up and down and they would have to lower his insulin. so we did that when I got home I put water in the needle to see how much was coming out and it was nothing. I took my dog to another animal hospital and found out that my dog does not have diabetes. this whole time spending a lot of money to make sure my dog is ok and all I was doing is giving him something that was not needed for his health. Before all of this I took my dog there to have dentist work done on him after the dentist work is when all this stuff happened. A day or 2 after surgery on his teeth I find that a little weird. We had been in 3 weeks earlier for our dog's annual check-up and vaccines.  At that time, he received all necessary shots and they said his teeth were looking ok.  So when we came back, it was just to see about a small bump that had developed on his back paw.  They gave him a vaccine he didn't need, told us his teeth were so bad that he'd need to be anesthetized to have them surgically cleaned, and said that the bump on his foot was probably melanoma and needed to be surgically removed for a total cost of around $700.Fortunately we decided to get a second opinion before getting all of this done to our dog.  We really got the feeling that they were trying to shake us down, especially since everything was fine when we were there less than 3 weeks ago.  A few years ago, I had brought my cat to them because she had suddenly stopped using the litter box.  The vet said she probably had cancer and I spent nearly $1,000 on recommended tests that all came back negative.  It turned out my cat was totally fine and was just worked up because I was pregnant. We took our dog to another vet who said his little bump was "obviously not cancerous" and was just a harmless keratin cyst.  She said we could leave it or for $50 she could laser if off so we didn't have to worry about it.  She also said his teeth were fine and just to get him some dental chews. Our experience at Elkridge Animal Hospital has been that they suggest the worst possible scenario in an attempt to convince you that your pet is going to die if you don't spend a ridiculous amount of money on treatments they don't need.  We'll never go back! My dog is a pit bull terrier. Of course as most dog people know he's a big sweet heart, but I know there are people that are afraid of them. That being said, my dog has been there once before, with no problems. I called and made the appointment, and they were aware I was bringing in a pit bull. The staff was incredible, all of the ladies treated my little man like a prince. But the vet was painfully terrified of my dog. All of the vet techs played with him and rough housed with him, because true animal people can sense an animals temperament. I myself have worked in the animal industry and you learn which dogs want to play and which dogs just want to get in get it all over with and get out. The exam the vet gave my dog was a joke. My dog literally has a tooth rotting out in the back of his mouth, and the vet wrote in his chart that there were no oral problems (we are getting the tooth taken care of elsewhere. I didn't even bring it up because I knew if he couldn't even freaking find the tooth, I didn't trust him to treat it). He was so squeemish and unprofessional, and we basically paid him to play vet with my dog. If you have a large dog, don't take him here. Any issues he has will go unnoticed while the vet gives a fake surface exam, signs the chart, and runs out of the exam room as quickly as possible.Read Less

Read Less
