The staff was very nice. But my cat was in pretty bad shape when we got there. I felt like they tried to rush me into signing for them to do a whole lot of work. When honestly it was probably clear by looking at the kitten there wasn't much they could do for her. Had I have signed I would've owed a lot of money with the ultimate result being, spend $ 3000 or put your cat down. They could've said at the beginning it is going to be a few thousand dollars once we get her stabilized. What should do ?Read Less

We took our dog, Dakota in for a Ortho Consult and we were greeted immediately by friendly staff. The wait was a little long, but understandable being an emergency facility, as well. The Veterinarian who consulted on the case was straightforward and thorough. Besides the snarky comment about them not being a bank- when asked about paying for the procedure in installments, which I am quite aware of, we were happy with our visit and confident in pursuing the needed procedure to help our girl. Several months ago, I took my diabetic cat here around midnight. The staff was very straight forward with me about how much testing I wanted to do. My cat was having seizures and unable to walk without running into the walls. I was very emotional because I thought that I would have to put my baby down because I thought he had something neurologically wrong with him. I agreed to IV's and minimal lab testing. The staff was very friendly and seemed very caring. When I picked him up around 8am, he was diagnosed with low blood sugar. They gave me his bag of IV fluids and left his needle in his arm in case his primary vet needed to give him more fluids. He needed an adjustment to his insulin dosage. I am very appreciative for their services. It was a little pricey, but my baby was diagnosed appropriately and is doing fine. I'm sorry that I don't remember the vet's name that cared for him. They even called me later on to check on him.Read Less

Wonderful, understanding and attentive staff. When my darling 4-year old kitty was critically ill and in a lot of pain, I was searching for a 24-hour clinic to end her suffering. I called in advance to let them know I was bringing my girl in, and as soon as I walked in the door they took me into a room and tended to me immediately. Since she could tell I was deeply upset by my cat's entire situation, Dr. Leslie Wolff looked through my girl's case, expressed that she could operate, but reassured me that she thought I was making the right decision. The vet, nurses and staff were kind and gentle and let me spend as much time with my girl as I needed. God forbid I have to go through this again, I know exactly where I'll go. Highly recommended. My cat Mr Boots was gravely ill when I took him to Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital on New Years Day 2013. I can't say enough good things about the staff. As soon as I arrived, Cindy at the front desk immediately took him to the back to been seen by Dr. Wolff - no questions asked, no paperwork to complete first. They got him started on IV fluids right away due to his extreme dehydration.
Dr. Wolff is very knowledgable and very caring, she kept me up to date on what she was doing to diagnose the problem. Once the blood work and X-rays were complete she went over everything with me and was very up-front about what she suspected the problem was and what I could expect the cost to be for care and surgery.
Dr. Wolff operated on Mr Boots once his condition stabilized and her diagnosis was exactly correct. The cat had eaten an 18 inch piece of holiday ribbon and it was lodged in his stomach. Dr. Wolff called me once the surgery was over to let me know how it went and what she found. I have no doubt that Dr. Wolff and the staff saved my cats life.
I called every 3 hours until late in the evening to check on the cat's condition and was always greeted with a friendly voice and given an update. We will be forever grateful to Frederick Emergency Hospital, Dr. Wolff and all the staff for all they did. Mr. Boots is home now and recovering very well.
**Note** I had taken my cat to his regular the day before the visit to Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital. Despite telling the vet on duty several times that there was something wrong with the cat and I suspected he may have eaten something he shouldn't have I was brushed off and told the cat probably had a stomach bug because she didn't detect anything during a quick physical exam. I was sent home with cat Pepcid and told to "watch" him. Needless to say that particular vet will never touch another one of my pets. My point is if you as a pet owner know there is something wrong with your pet - trust yourself and push for action - I wish I would have - it almost cost my pet his life........ Read Less

I would never take another animal to this hospital. I rushed my dog to the hospital in the middle of the night, because I was afraid he was bloating. The vet took him back to examine him and returned saying he was not bloating. She told me he was in pain from a previous back surgery and assured me he would feel better after the pain meds kicked in. When I got him home, he was worse, so I called the vet and said I really think he's bloating. Again, she said I was wrong. Fifteen minutes later, he collapsed. I ran to my neighbor's house and asked her to help me get him into the car. He screamed for about 20 minutes on the way back to the hospital and he died minutes before I got there. He was so bloated, and distorted, it was devastating. My poor dog deserved a gentle passing, and thanks to a misdiagnosis, he died a dreadful death. I can't tell you how horrific that night was. I called the office the next day, and there was no apology, nothing except them saying I couldn't prove he was bloating when I first went to the hospital that night. Read Less
