I can't say enough about Dr. Hiltner, Dr.Wilson and all the Old Farm Veterinary Staff members!! I have been going to Old Farm since moving home from CA 9 years ago. The care and compassion that is given each time I have gone is above and beyond. After losing both my Pit babies within a 9 month period the condolences sent my way will be forever remembered. This is a great Veterinary hospital! After moving here from NY we were looking for a new vet and couldn't be more pleased with the service and staff here. My dog got sick the day before we were flying out of town, they got him in for an exam, treated him and boarded him for my trip, all at last minute notice. They were wonderful to us! Will not be taking my pets anywhere else now! Read Less

They were able to get me in quickly for my appointment with my cat! It would be nice if they had a billing option, or started accepting postdated checks. I had a situation where I got an estimate of 50-80 dollars a week before, then had a $120 invoice when I went for a followup visit 7 days later. I just wasnt prepared for that (I could have made the appointment a little bit later in the week, to line up with my pay cycle) The good news is, my cat is feeling way better, just came with a moderate price tag. I had high hopes for this place after reading reviews but will never return.  They care more about money than about the pets or the clients.  I came with my two dogs for treatment and they did not give my dogs a requested vaccine.  I didn't realize it until I was home but figured it would be fine since I had to return in two weeks for a follow up vaccines.  When I returned they charged me $35 per dog as a follow up treatment to just get a second dose of a vaccine plus the cost of the vaccine.  When I mentioned they forgot the other vaccine the last visit they didn't care and just said we can give it to the dogs now and come back again in 2 weeks.  So now I have to return again and pay another $70.  They again didn't care and just were happy to take my money. I have found over the many years of using Old Farm Veterinary Hospital that the staff and doctors are some of the most caring people. They have always shown me caring and sympathy for my pets and kept me informed as to what was wrong, what was needed and what to expect. I have only respect for this group and recommend then highly. We decided to stick with this veterinarian since my dog Gunner's previous owners had all of his records here.  I am happy to say I have been very pleased with the service we have received on every visit.  The office is kept squeaky clean with plenty of space and multiple appointment rooms.  They provide treats to keep your pup busy while you are checking out at the front desk.  Both of the doctors here are very responsive and informative.  I feel very comfortable asking them all of my questions.  What I really like is that I can drop my pup off before work and they will check him out if it is an emergency.  I will always get a phone call updating me on their findings, and will pick him up with his necessary meds after work.  The stay during the day is free of charge!  They also allow you to set up appointments online, and will send you reminder emails when you have any booster shots or other treatments due for your pet.  I love the convenience of this service.  Overall this veterinarian has provided me and my pup excellent service and we will continue to come back! The veterinarians at the office are really nice and always helpful as well as the staff. Unfortunately I feel like the cost of vaccinations is really high. In my case two dogs was almost $700 for vaccinations and heartworm meds for 6 months. I don't know if that's normal or if they gave me more shots than my dogs needed. Either way, I may be looking for a new vet just because I can't spend more on my dogs health than my own.Read Less

We love Old Farm Veterinary Hospital and let me tell you why: 1) The entire office smells, looks and is very clean. 2) The office staff is friendly, knowledgeable and loving to all pets. 3) The doctors are all knowledgeable, caring, friendly and love their job of taking care of pets. Dr. Wilson did surgery on our puppy and did an excellent job. Kudos to Dr. Wilson! 4) Their office is conveniently located with six day a week office hours. There is also plenty of parking and never a long wait on the inside. 5) They do boarding for their customers and take excellent care of all their "patrons." 6) We do suggest the Nationwide all inclusive (sick and well care) pet insurance. Old Farm Vet. has brochures on their counter. 7) This facility is always doing something in the Frederick community to help animals. Tough review to write, but these people are wonderful. They were recommended to me when I called the Frederick Humane Society looking for a good, local vet who would perform euthanasia. My husband and I moved here recently from Chicago so the recommendation was welcome.Yesterday evening, my husband and I brought our oldest cat in to see Dr. Hiltner. She had been rapidly declining for a few weeks and the symptoms were at the point where we had made the extremely difficult call to have her euthanized. For the duration of the visit, we were treated with nothing but kindness and respect. The receptionist immediately placed us in a private room and allowed us to take Clarice out of the carrier and spend some time with her before Dr. Hiltner injected the anesthetic. The vet tech was also very kind and respectful, she even handed us a box of tissues before leaving us in the room for a few minutes of alone time with our poor old lady. We were given the option of running diagnostics and bloodwork, but the staff respected our decision to continue with the euthanasia and didn't insist on an examination.  When it was time for Clarice's final moments, Dr. Hiltner treated her so kindly and I know that she left this world without pain. He was very gentle with her and he made sure she had an appropriate dose of painkillers beforehand so that she wouldn't feel a thing. My husband and I were immensely grateful to Dr. Hiltner and his wonderful, caring staff for making an already-difficult process as easy as it could have been. I also really want to thank the receptionist for being so kind. She came into the examination room to take payment from us, ensuring that we could leave immediately afterwards without having to stay in the lobby. This was a really nice touch, and the whole process at Old Farm Vet was streamlined and efficient without making us feel rushed or hurried. We plan on adopting a new kitten in a few months, and Old Farm Vet will be our first choice for vet care. I couldn't recommend them more highly. This was a macabre review to write, but finding a vet who handles end-of-life care with sensitivity was a godsend and we are so grateful. Read Less

Great service! Everyone was very amicable and answered all our questions! They have great pricing too. I took my cat to be checked for tapeworms and I ended up having to get several things done during this visit. I surely believed the whole visit would cost me about $200 but then when I checked out it was no where close to that and they even give a Active Duty Military Discount (10%)! Read Less

Everyone takes great care of my furbaby, Hawk. While the doctor is examining him, they always have a vet tech to assist as well as comfort my dog. They are very compassionate and caring. When my dog has been in for prior sicknesses, they always make courtesy calls a day or two later to check in on him and make sure he is progressing. We have lived in 3 states with our furbaby and this is by far the best of the 3 vets. Thank you to all the great employees here. Read Less

The doctors and staff at Old Farm Vet are awesome! They've taken great care of my 13 1/2 year old dog, Blue, since he was 1 year old; and he's still doing great! They treat us like family and truly do care about their 4-legged patients. Both Dr. Wilson and Dr. Hiltner are very knowledgeable and provide the best care. They are very compassionate and only want what is best for Blue and I. Old Farm Vet is basically my one-stop-shop - I get the best care for my dog, they have a great boarding facility and a groomer on staff. And their prices are reasonable. I've been taking both my cats to Old Farm for at least six years and have always been treated well. I recently went through a very difficult situation with one of my cats and the doctors and staff at Old Farm were very kind every step of the way. Our dog has a serious anxiety issue when it comes to vets and groomers. She may or may not have been banned from at least 1 area PetSmart due to her behavior. But the staff at this vet office has been so patient and caring every time they have treated Peanut, either for annual vaccines or for nail-trimming. Sure, they have to bribe her with a couple-hundred dog treats, but it's a small price to pay for the peace of mind. We absolutely love the staff here and would never consider another vet. Read Less

We have used Old Farm since they opened. Over the years they have treated two diabetic cats, one healthy cat and three greyhounds. All have received excellent care. The doctors always listen and the staff is friendly and so kind. I recently used their day boarding and it was terrific. Read Less

The staff is always so friendly and professional. I started out taking one of my cats (a kitten) here and then I transferred the care of my eldest cat, 9 yrs old, from Germantown, MD to here. What did you do to my cat's back claw on her left foot. I drop her off to board and give a nail trim. I asked if that back nail which was black have any issues. I was told no. The cat is in excruciating pain every time I go near that area to look. I don't even see that there is a nail still there. Who cuts back claws more than a tiny bit when you clearly see the veins are near the ends. If I have to bring her to her vet and pay, I am sending you the bill. I was ambushed with a new kitten from a feral litter and noticed he had congestion and liquid eye discharge.  The Humane Society was kind enough to financially help with my first vet visit and Old Farm was recommended and close to home.  I was pleasantly surprised at the attentiveness and thoroughness of the staff and Dr. at Old Farm.  Although my new kitten doesn't suffer a medical visit with any kind of dignity, Old Farm was able to complete his exam with minimal pain to both patient and owner.  Thanks so much. The team at Old Farm are great to work with! They are thorough in their examinations and answer all our questions, as we are first time dog owners! They also produce a newsletter with a customized cover (front and back), that lets us know when our dog's next health appt is, has "A message from us" letter, that includes our dog's name, and a Pet Profile that gives us tips based on our breed of dog. We knew that we needed a new veterinarian, but had not looked into it when illness struck. In my rush to research local vets, I had read very positive reviews about Old Farm and Dr. Wilson. From scheduling our big boy Max for a visit to meeting Dr. Wilson and the staff at Old Farm, I felt welcome and important-although Max may have felt a bit different. (He is doing wonderfully, now!) As things tend to happen in our home, our oldest kitty, MK, was not feeling well by the end of the same week. When she hadn't bounced back to her old self by Sunday, I was very worried. I called on Monday and was able to get her in that same day. Once again, the doctor and staff could not have been nicer. MK did not even crab too much about her visit-turns out, it wasn't anything as horrific as I had playing in my mind. From both visits, I had the overall feeling that this was one heck of a competent team, which I had not always felt at other vet hospitals. Dr. Wilson explained what was going on in each instance with great clarity. I never felt confused or out of the loop on what was happening during our appointments. The office is clean and comfortable. It's also quiet-then again, they didn't have our two dogs boarding there! Which brings me to the niceties of the practice. They offer grooming and boarding, too. Oh. OH! They also have to office cats that patrol the back and the receptionist area which just made my day a little brighter! Read Less

Staff is friendly and efficient. Never a long wait in the waiting room, which is important to me since my pets get scared of strange animals. They always do a follow up call after a sick visit which is nice. The exam rooms are clean. It is a lot more quiet than my previous vets office. At my prev vet it was always very loud with nonstop barking and other commotion going on. Old Farm seems to be a nice laid back atmosphere for sick fur babies! Read Less
