We've been using this clinic for more than 15 years - since they were at their old Gaithersburg Square location and can't say enough good things about it. I've never written a review of a vet clinic before, but given what happened  during my last visit, and the posting they had of how proud they were of their Yelp rating, I felt the need to. Let me start by stating that my cat's regular vet was Dr. Smith. If my review was of the front desk staff, most of the techs and Dr. Smith, this would be a 5 star rating. But on my last visit, and one previously, I had the misfortune of seeing Dr. Hileman. Her bedside manner was appalling, The wait time to deal with her, abysmal. When I'm on time for my appointment, I shouldn't have to wait over 30 minutes to see the vet, and it happened more than once. After being there for 2 hours and still not having my questions answered, I made the best decision for myself and my cat and left and went to the ER, which was good because Dr. Hileman missed the fact that my cat had fluid around his lungs! We have been bringing our pets to Dr. Hileman for 30 years and are so grateful for her knowledge and dedication to giving the best care possible. She has saved us a great deal of money due to her expertise. Nowadays the younger Vets are not as diversely trained and often need to refer you to an expensive specialist. My diva dog, Peekaboo was due for her annual check up and shots. I needed to find a new vet because we left our previous vet over 2,000 miles away in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bogarté.  Then click on About, and then, Details About Me.  In brief, I am using Dragon Naturally Speaking to type this review.  I am retired from the CIA's Clandestine Service.  My coverman, the man who cared for me during my working years, and his wife have temporarily been taking care of their daughter's Chartreux cat.  He is quite a guy, speaks five languages.  We get along very well talking about various topics including politics.  Anyway, he began coughing poor boy, and my coverman and his wife had to take him to the vet.   After doing his due diligence here on Yelp, he read the reviews about this clinic, that is Dr. Hileman and her staff.  He was impressed to they took my friend Katush there.Katush said he was treated very well.  Everyone, doc, and staff liked him.  He found Dr. Hileman very personable, with a caring bedside manner.  Both she and her staff were very professional, helpful and made sure my coverman and his wife were also comfortable.X-rays and blood work were obtained.  Turns out my little friend had pneumonia.  He is taking antibiotics and seems to be doing well.  As everyone knows vet bills can be expensive.  You don't know what it has cost the Agency to care for me all these years.  The clinic fees are appropriate.  Katush was not guaged, that is overcharged for extra tests.  In tact, only on x-ray view was taken.So, in summary, I would highly recommend you bring your pet here. Me and my family, along with our cats and dogs, have been patients of Gaithersburg Veterinary Clinic for years, before they even moved to firstfield. I have never once doubted our decision since then. I have always felt comfortable with my animals being under their care, the staff is super friendly and they always remember our pets. Dr Bonnie Hileman is tremendously helpful and I trust her completely, its very clear that all the staff hold an abundance of love towards animals and it's quite palpable. Dr. Hileman took care of our family dog for 17 years before she passed away last week. Even though I don't live in the area anymore, I was touched by clinic's kindness to our family at the loss of our beloved pet. One of my mom's regrets when telling me that our Macy was gone was that she didn't have a chance make a paw print as a keepsake. A week later my parents received a sympathy card in the mail from the whole clinic and inked paw prints that must have been done after she was gone. I moved here one year ago with an 18 month  lab/collie mix. The anxiety with finding a vet can be a tiring process. Luckily, we found this clinic and never looked back. The staff treats our dog like a prince and does not cut any corners. Highly recommended! Read Less

Wonderful experience! Warm, friendly staff...my dog and I felt right at home! Dr. Hileman was caring and honest. I loved her knowledgeable, yet conservative approach in treating my older dog. I love this clinic and the staff and especially Dr. H. I have used several different Vets before going here, none gave the care or concern I found with this clinic. My dog has been going since he was a new puppy (he is 6 now) and he does not fear going in and seeing everyone and getting his check up.  I think that says a lot about the attitude of the staff as I have had to literally drag my other dogs into previous clinics as the seemed to know it was all shots and pain. I moved from Gaithersburg to about 10 miles west of Harper's Ferry, WV, more than 10 years ago but I still make the 2 hour round trip to drive take my cats to G'burg Vet Clinic.  I don't think I'll ever find a vet anywhere that I trust as much as I trust Dr. Heilman and the care is outstanding - caring and thorough. I LOVE this clinic! I used my seven year old car a clinic in DC (I now live in DC), and hated the way they treated him. Diego gets so much warmth and love when he comes here. I'll gladly make the drive from DC, although I don't think Diego appreciates it too much. They really do care for your pet, and that makes all the difference for me. Read Less

We decided to try Gaithersburg Vet Clinic with our new dog. Previously we had gone to another clinic in Rockville but found it pricey and we felt unnecessary procedures were often recommended. So far we really like GVC and find the staff super friendly. They even invited me to bring my dog by a few days before our appointment so that he could get used to the Clinic and the staff. He is a shelter dog so this helped out a lot. I felt they took plenty of time during our appointment and were very thorough. Looking forward to years of care from GVC! Read Less

The Vet was not very personable and was not very good at informing me as to what specifically was wrong with my cat. The Technician was very short with us and did not seem to care for my cat very much. The entire time he has me questions his back was turned to me and his head in the computer.I did not feel very welcomed at all- I have had much better experiences at other vet practices. Read Less
