I'm confused at all these good reviews. I brought my four month old puppy to Dr. Silver for his next set of shots and a puppy check up. I brought with me three sheets from the previous vet that were pretty specific on what was done and what was needed. He had to have a staff member review. Which by the way she couldn't even understand. I'm not sure how hard it was considering how it was typed out, next set of shots due...Shots given and on which dates. After a very quick check up the doctor asked me if I had any questions or issues that I wanted to talk with him about. I brought up that my puppy had been doing a lot of barking early in the morning after we've gone out and he's had a good walk. He suggested I either spank him or smack him on he butt with a rolled up newspaper. Wow!! My only hope as he doesn't have any children. He then proceeded to give him a handful of different types of jerky as a treat. So much that my puppy only ate a little and left the rest behind. Needless to say a few hours after he left my puppy was sick with diarrhea for the next 12 hours. When I called to see if it had to do with the one vaccination he was given they said now probably due to the jerky. The whole experience was horrible and I would highly recommend trying to anyone but this place.

I recently adopted Robin, a senior dog who has quickly become "my baby." Dr. Silver and his team have been fantastic in taking care of her. Chloe is very friendly, and has remembered my dog (and me) since our first visit. Kevin gives lots of extra love and words of encouragement to Robin and is wonderful at keeping her calm. And of course, Dr. Silver is knowledgeable, thorough, and to the point. He very kindly listens to my concerns and ramblings, and offers solid advice. He has helped Robin through many tummy issues, without pressuring me to do any additional/unnecessary steps or procedures. In addition, Robin required an emergency appointment and they were AMAZING in accommodating us last minute. I was very worried about her so they watched her overnight. They made sure she was well taken care of, and Amy even texted me letting me know Robin was doing well because she saw how concerned I was. Prices are reasonable, and the care is top notch. Robin and I highly recommend Dr. Silver and his team.

This morning my daughter took her one year old Persian cat for a grooming appointment and her rabies booster.My daughter received a call from the receptionist stating that the Doctor had found something wrong with Bella and she needed to be there within 15 minutes.You can imagine the stress and fear she felt racing to the office.Upon arriving she was told Bella needs a $600 nasal surgery because she "struggled for every breath and was extremely uncomfortable "Because Bella has been behaving fine and breathing normally she paid the bill and left seeking a second opinion.A second vet examined Bella and found her to be in perfect heath with normal breathing.So Bella is healthy, avoided an expensive and dangerous surgery. I have been on hold waiting to speak to someone regarding this for 53 minutes as of this writing.My advice to all is to stay far away from Chevy Chase Veterinary Clinic.

DO NOT bring your bird here! I called ahead to make sure the vet could clip bird wings and I was assured he could. My 6th month old hand fed cockatiel was handled very roughly and the vet did a horrible job. My poor bird was screaming and bleeding all over the place which should not happen with a routine wing clipping. The vet carelessly hit a blood feather and had to pull it out in order to stop the bleeding. Furthermore, when I was visibly upset, the vet was very rude and stated that he did exactly what he said he was going to do and walked out of the room and did not return. He left my bird's feathers and blood on the floor for me to look at and continue to be upset by. The receptionist came to clean it up and then saw us out. We did not receive an apology or a follow up call to make sure my poor bird was okay. I do not feel this vet should be able to clip bird wings in the future. My bird looks like he was mauled by an animal and he has not made a sound since we left. I am deeply upset and wouldn't wish this on anyone or their pet!

The team at this office is really caring and provides excellent care which is driven by the best interests of the pet but with consideration of the feelings and concerns of the pet parents. We have had dogs in their care and preventive care is thorough and intervention care when a condition is determined is also driven by giving clear information about the options available and possible side effects. The practise is also very good about providing realistic estimates of the costs of care, such as surgery which can be done at the clinic. When one of our pets needed an MRI, we were given a referral to an excellent advanced care provider in the area by Dr. Silver at the Chevy Chase Veterinary Clinic. He and his team are very dedicated to their clients and patients. I highly recommend them.

If my first visit is any indication, they deliver exceptionally capable and compassionate care in a calming environment (especially for my skittish cat). I brought my 13-year-old cat here after losing faith in the treatment approach my other vet was taking. I'm so glad I did. They fit her in on an urgent basis (as a new patient), and Dr. Silver thoughtfully reviewed her medical history, examined her and walked me through his treatment recommendations, explaining everything along the way. After flagging for days, she began improving within a few hours of our visit. I'm so grateful to have found this practice.

I have been taking my pets to Dr Silver now for 22 years. He has always been fair and honest and treats my dogs Pasha who lived 17 years, and Mookie Who is now 12 years old. He cares for the animals as if they were his, and his wife Amy and the rest of the staff are always so helpful and attentive. I have already recommended him and the staff to friends and they have been so very satisfied. He will never push any unnecessary treatments on your pets and is always looking for their well-being.

Originally came to Dr Silver's practice because there is a groomer onsite, and a 7yo coonhound with a past of abuse neglect can be difficult to handle without a sedative. He leaves the groomer in full show diva mode -- "Look how handsome I am!" -- every time. Vet care is no different, all of the staff helps Chuck feel safe during visits; and we've had no reservations about Dr Silver's treatment.

I travel from New Mexico, where I moved 2 years ago from Maryland, with our beagle who is 13 and has been taken care of by Dr Silver for over 10 years. I have received nothing but quality and responsive care from DrSilver and his staff. His wife Amy, has always made herself available to answer any follow up questions. Dr.Silver is straightforward and no nonsense.

This is a great veterinary office. The atmosphere of the office is very cozy, which makes sense because it is part of a large house. The people who answer the phones are super helpful and reliable. Kevin provided a detailed quote over the phone and gave me all information pertaining to my cat's visit before I booked an appointment (so that I could price compare). My cat, Kiwi, got her rabies and distemper vaccines and I got a health certificate for her to travel. It was about an average of $100 cheaper for the same services compared to several other practices in the area, and the people on the phone were friendlier, which was nice. I feel weird listing how much I paid for the services, especially when these things change with inflation etc, so I will leave that off... but feel free to call around for your own quotes and you'll probably see what I mean.Dr. Silver cares about the animals physical health and their behavior (mental health), which is rare. He provided several tips for how my cat could be put at ease while traveling, as well as some additional ways to keep her entertained in the house. These were great out-of-the-box ideas for her. She is a pretty needy kitty, so I appreciate all of the help that he gave me! The appointment got started a little late... about 20 minutes late, but it was shorter than I expected it to be. A full checkup, chat about her behavioral quirks and two vaccines was completed in under 30 minutes, so the full appointment was under an hour, when I was expecting it to be an hour total. He knows his stuff and it is run as a family practice so the different people provide complementary care, which they seem to leverage well. They all have an obvious love for animals in common and they have two big dogs of their own! And lots of fish tanks throughout the office :)

My two cats have been patients of Dr. Silver for almost a year now. Doctor and Staff really love the animals, and Dr. Silver is a a no BS provider. If your animal does not require a particular treatment, Dr. Silver will tell you so. Animals are loved and well treated. I have two cats and one of them is asthmatic, and we are working a solution for Rudy's food allergies. Why not five stars? I have had to work out some solutions myself, but Dr. Silver certainly points one in the right direction. Just ask many questions and educate yourself. Dr. Silver is experienced and he will not mince his words.

A wonderful vet practice: Dr. Silver is a great vet and can take care of all pets, the dog, the cat, and the exotics too (we have a macaw and a cockatiel). The coral reef fish in the waiting room and the macaw in the clinic keep my daughter interested and we have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. Lots of extra care, phone calls with lab results, all in all a wonderful practice.

I was looking up the telephone number for my vet since I was already online and was absolutely stunned by the reveiws left for him.My animal companion has been in the care of Dr.Silver for 7 years now.He and his staff have been nothing short of professional and educational. After reading two of the reveiws (same date) it seems to me that someone's feelings were hurt,I read several inconsistencies in their feedback which leads me to believe a malicous attempt to dis- credit Dr.Silver is ongoing.Opinions are subjective. Reviews are out of character for this Vet.The medical profession can be a thankless job at times.As long as my animal companion is happy and well groomed I'm happy.Animals have the advantage of wiggling their tails and not their tongues.A lesson for us all!!

We have been going to Dr. Silver for several years now and think he and his staff are wonderful. We had been to a few different vets with our dog who was having chronic skin problems and test after test (which were probably unnecessary) solved nothing. We were referred to Dr. Silver by another happy client and after his first treatment our dog responded. He is very thorough without running up large bills and gives the owner options for treatment, rather than dictating them. His staff is very pleasant and competent and his receptionist even recognizes my voice when I call! It is a very personal practice and you don't feel lost in the shuffle like many big practices. We wouldn't take our dog anywhere else!

I'm confused at all these good reviews. I brought my four month old puppy to Dr. Silver for his next set of shots and a puppy check up. I brought with me three sheets from the previous vet that were pretty specific on what was done and what was needed. He had to have a staff member review. Which by the way she couldn't even understand. I'm not sure how hard it was considering how it was typed out, next set of shots due...Shots given and on which dates. After a very quick check up the doctor asked me if I had any questions or issues that I wanted to talk with him about. I brought up that my puppy had been doing a lot of barking early in the morning after we've gone out and he's had a good walk. He suggested I either spank him or smack him on he butt with a rolled up newspaper. Wow!! My only hope as he doesn't have any children. He then proceeded to give him a handful of different types of jerky as a treat. So much that my puppy only ate a little and left the rest behind. Needless to say a few hours after he left my puppy was sick with diarrhea for the next 12 hours. When I called to see if it had to do with the one vaccination he was given they said now probably due to the jerky. The whole experience was horrible and I would highly recommend trying to anyone but this place.

I recently adopted Robin, a senior dog who has quickly become "my baby." Dr. Silver and his team have been fantastic in taking care of her. Chloe is very friendly, and has remembered my dog (and me) since our first visit. Kevin gives lots of extra love and words of encouragement to Robin and is wonderful at keeping her calm. And of course, Dr. Silver is knowledgeable, thorough, and to the point. He very kindly listens to my concerns and ramblings, and offers solid advice. He has helped Robin through many tummy issues, without pressuring me to do any additional/unnecessary steps or procedures. In addition, Robin required an emergency appointment and they were AMAZING in accommodating us last minute. I was very worried about her so they watched her overnight. They made sure she was well taken care of, and Amy even texted me letting me know Robin was doing well because she saw how concerned I was. Prices are reasonable, and the care is top notch. Robin and I highly recommend Dr. Silver and his team.

This morning my daughter took her one year old Persian cat for a grooming appointment and her rabies booster.My daughter received a call from the receptionist stating that the Doctor had found something wrong with Bella and she needed to be there within 15 minutes.You can imagine the stress and fear she felt racing to the office.Upon arriving she was told Bella needs a $600 nasal surgery because she "struggled for every breath and was extremely uncomfortable "Because Bella has been behaving fine and breathing normally she paid the bill and left seeking a second opinion.A second vet examined Bella and found her to be in perfect heath with normal breathing.So Bella is healthy, avoided an expensive and dangerous surgery. I have been on hold waiting to speak to someone regarding this for 53 minutes as of this writing.My advice to all is to stay far away from Chevy Chase Veterinary Clinic.

DO NOT bring your bird here! I called ahead to make sure the vet could clip bird wings and I was assured he could. My 6th month old hand fed cockatiel was handled very roughly and the vet did a horrible job. My poor bird was screaming and bleeding all over the place which should not happen with a routine wing clipping. The vet carelessly hit a blood feather and had to pull it out in order to stop the bleeding. Furthermore, when I was visibly upset, the vet was very rude and stated that he did exactly what he said he was going to do and walked out of the room and did not return. He left my bird's feathers and blood on the floor for me to look at and continue to be upset by. The receptionist came to clean it up and then saw us out. We did not receive an apology or a follow up call to make sure my poor bird was okay. I do not feel this vet should be able to clip bird wings in the future. My bird looks like he was mauled by an animal and he has not made a sound since we left. I am deeply upset and wouldn't wish this on anyone or their pet!

The team at this office is really caring and provides excellent care which is driven by the best interests of the pet but with consideration of the feelings and concerns of the pet parents. We have had dogs in their care and preventive care is thorough and intervention care when a condition is determined is also driven by giving clear information about the options available and possible side effects. The practise is also very good about providing realistic estimates of the costs of care, such as surgery which can be done at the clinic. When one of our pets needed an MRI, we were given a referral to an excellent advanced care provider in the area by Dr. Silver at the Chevy Chase Veterinary Clinic. He and his team are very dedicated to their clients and patients. I highly recommend them.

I brought my 13-year-old cat here after losing faith in the treatment approach my other vet was taking. I'm so glad I did. They fit her in on an urgent basis (as a new patient), and Dr. Silver thoughtfully reviewed her medical history, examined her and walked me through his treatment recommendations, explaining everything along the way. After flagging for days, she began improving within a few hours of our visit. I'm so grateful to have found this practice.

He cares for the animals as if they were his, and his wife Amy and the rest of the staff are always so helpful and attentive. I have already recommended him and the staff to friends and they have been so very satisfied. He will never push any unnecessary treatments on your pets and is always looking for their well-being.

Originally came to Dr Silver's practice because there is a groomer onsite, and a 7yo coonhound with a past of abuse neglect can be difficult to handle without a sedative. He leaves the groomer in full show diva mode -- "Look how handsome I am!" -- every time. Vet care is no different, all of the staff helps Chuck feel safe during visits; and we've had no reservations about Dr Silver's treatment.

I travel from New Mexico, where I moved 2 years ago from Maryland, with our beagle who is 13 and has been taken care of by Dr Silver for over 10 years. I have received nothing but quality and responsive care from DrSilver and his staff. His wife Amy, has always made herself available to answer any follow up questions. Dr.Silver is straightforward and no nonsense.

This is a great veterinary office. The atmosphere of the office is very cozy, which makes sense because it is part of a large house. The people who answer the phones are super helpful and reliable. Kevin provided a detailed quote over the phone and gave me all information pertaining to my cat's visit before I booked an appointment (so that I could price compare). My cat, Kiwi, got her rabies and distemper vaccines and I got a health certificate for her to travel. It was about an average of $100 cheaper for the same services compared to several other practices in the area, and the people on the phone were friendlier, which was nice. I feel weird listing how much I paid for the services, especially when these things change with inflation etc, so I will leave that off... but feel free to call around for your own quotes and you'll probably see what I mean.Dr. Silver cares about the animals physical health and their behavior (mental health), which is rare. He provided several tips for how my cat could be put at ease while traveling, as well as some additional ways to keep her entertained in the house. These were great out-of-the-box ideas for her. She is a pretty needy kitty, so I appreciate all of the help that he gave me! The appointment got started a little late... about 20 minutes late, but it was shorter than I expected it to be. A full checkup, chat about her behavioral quirks and two vaccines was completed in under 30 minutes, so the full appointment was under an hour, when I was expecting it to be an hour total. He knows his stuff and it is run as a family practice so the different people provide complementary care, which they seem to leverage well. They all have an obvious love for animals in common and they have two big dogs of their own! And lots of fish tanks throughout the office :)

If your animal does not require a particular treatment, Dr. Silver will tell you so. Animals are loved and well treated. I have two cats and one of them is asthmatic, and we are working a solution for Rudy's food allergies. Why not five stars? I have had to work out some solutions myself, but Dr. Silver certainly points one in the right direction. Just ask many questions and educate yourself. Dr. Silver is experienced and he will not mince his words.

A wonderful vet practice: Dr. Silver is a great vet and can take care of all pets, the dog, the cat, and the exotics too (we have a macaw and a cockatiel). The coral reef fish in the waiting room and the macaw in the clinic keep my daughter interested and we have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. Lots of extra care, phone calls with lab results, all in all a wonderful practice.

After reading two of the reveiws (same date) it seems to me that someone's feelings were hurt,I read several inconsistencies in their feedback which leads me to believe a malicous attempt to dis- credit Dr.Silver is ongoing.Opinions are subjective. Reviews are out of character for this Vet.The medical profession can be a thankless job at times.As long as my animal companion is happy and well groomed I'm happy.Animals have the advantage of wiggling their tails and not their tongues.A lesson for us all!!

We have been going to Dr. Silver for several years now and think he and his staff are wonderful. We had been to a few different vets with our dog who was having chronic skin problems and test after test (which were probably unnecessary) solved nothing. We were referred to Dr. Silver by another happy client and after his first treatment our dog responded. He is very thorough without running up large bills and gives the owner options for treatment, rather than dictating them. His staff is very pleasant and competent and his receptionist even recognizes my voice when I call! It is a very personal practice and you don't feel lost in the shuffle like many big practices. We wouldn't take our dog anywhere else!
