The the current staff who answer the phone have not been considerate nor accommodating. This is disconcerting, especially since we have been using the vet for 20 years. They refuse to approve to approve prescription cat food, but NEVER contacted me about it. Now, I must wait a week to see the vet in order get approval for food that will prevent my cat from having a medical complication. Apparently the health of my pet is not a priority if I must wait a week to even see the vet to ensure my animal gets the medicine it needs.

Poor customer service experience. I took my cat in to get neutered, dropped him off at 8AM and did not receive any phone updates. Called a few times to ask for updates but was told they’re busy with operations today so it is taking longer. Already we don’t have a proper time frame and it seems like first come first serve instead of a set appointment. A little impersonal when your dear pet is getting altering surgery. In fact, our cat wasn’t even going to be seen until February but a couple weeks ago they called and asked us if we’d like to schedule it earlier instead, for today, January 27th. So did they intentionally overbook appointments or what to be so busy? Okay, but then by 2PM, 7 hours later, I try calling, and their phone at this point won’t even ring, so I have to show up myself. It isn’t until we arrive and finally get through the phone line and complain, that we finally get to pick him up. Why were we not told sooner, why was there not alternative ways at communication, and did he even get litter or water or was he stuck inside his carrier this entire time?! Once confronting the front staff, the veterinarian comes out with a front staff worker and instead of being apologetic we are hit with excuses and defensive manner, like “oh we had 8 surgeries today.” Not a single apology despite upset customers, my partner and I. Why is that my problem as a customer when you’re the one who makes the schedule? If I’m paying hundreds of dollars for your service, as this is our regular vet, I expect an apology and better communication when we trust this establishment enough to leave our animal here. You have lost us as customers and I’m afraid of how my cat was treated. We didn’t get any reassurance that he was able to walk around or use the bathroom. Nope, just “we had 8 surgeries today.” Wish we would have received a proper time frame, but no nothing. There was 0 communication and 0 reassurance that my cat did not suffer for 7 hours for a surgery that shouldn’t have taken that long. We will not be back. Thank you

We had to find a new vet, our "old" vet was charging a fortune for basic shots and care. I discovered there were a lot of vets in and around the Parkville area. I was told to try Carney and boy was I glad I did. The staff and Doctor's are top notch. The care taken with my dog was wonderful. The first time was just for shots and an exam both were reasonably priced. The wait time was very short but the front desk staff talked to us until we were taken in. I was surprised to receive a note from them thanking me for trusting them with our little guy. The second time was just shortly after we had the shots done, and my boy was quite sick; not due to the shots at all. He had lost several ounces and for a small dog that is a problem. There was concern over the dropped weight was noted upon the weigh-in before the exam. Again the care was wonderful, the staff and vet were very quick to determine what action needed to be taken to get him back to his usual healthy self. I was again impressed that I got a call the next day asking how doggo was doing. And then another card was received but this time it was not to me but to my guy with a wish for him to feel better soon . Seriously who sends a get well card to a dog? Carney AH does that's who. You will not be disappointed or feel like you are overpaying for the care that is quite outstanding. We will be Carney AH fans for life!

Nice local veterinary clinic, able to take care of various kinds of animals. The vets and techs are always sympathetic, professional and caring and have always taken great care of our two dogs. The clinic is easy to find, right next to the on ramp from Harford Road to the Beltway. Parking can be crowded and difficult to come by in the lot itself, but on street parking works fine.

Oh my . I can't say enough good things about this place ! I left crying!!!! ( with joy) they have so much knowledge and are extremely helpful! I took in a stray cat over the winter because it was in the teens during the day and my husband let the cat in until we found its owner . After two weeks of searching for the owner we decided to keep her. She's happy and healthy we call her Sugar because she's so sweet. I have the staff at Carney animal hospital to thank for all their help. They even gave us a carrier for her because we didn't have one. I would highly recommend them for their combined knowledge of animals. Thank you all so much! God Bless you all! You are heaven sent!

Carney animal hospital has a wonderful staff and is so kind to and respectful of their patients, both human and animal! They will also let you know if you don't need something, where as most vets push for you to get every little thing because it makes them more money. Carney isn't like that at all, they look out for their customer! They have helped me out on many occasions, I just wish they took the care credit card!

I absolutely LOVE Carney Animal Hospital! I've been taking all my animals there since 1987. Dr. Ed & Dr. Andrew are amazing doctors, and wonderful people! They've helped me more times than I can count with my pets, and all the rescues I've fostered, and cared for, and always work with me on costs where the rescue work is concerned. I don't know what I'd do without them. The staff is super friendly and awesome with the animals! They're very accommodating when it comes to making appointments too! I can't say enough great things about them! They genuinely care about your pets and treat them and you like family. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for excellent, top-rate veterinary care without the fancy, high dollar costs!

This used to be a great place, but no more. While the doctors are wonderful, the front staff is not. They are rude. I brought my cat in and the total bill was over $250. I told them to take money out of my account on Thursday, when I get paid. I just got a call from them today and they said it was declined. I didn't understand because they was money. The office manager was really rude and asked me what I was going to do about it. I said I'd call the bank. She said if I didn't call back in 10 minutes she'd run it again. I said she could run it 100 times but it won't matter and I needed to call the bank. I don't know where they got this lady, but it must have been from a collection agency because they violated the FTC act. As it turned out, they ran the credit incorrectly, but the OM didn't want to hear about that. Stay away.

They really CARE about my pet and my pocketbook.I have searched for years for a vet that isn't part of a corporate chain or more concerned about being famous than helping my pets.Carney Animal Hospital is a multi-generational business as Dad and Son are still running the place, seeing each patient, and creating the family atmosphere that exists here. The walls are covered with appreciative photos from clients going back decades.If you're concerned about the high cost of vet services, they have specials days for vaccines, and don't charge an office visit if vaccines are administered. That's unheard of!I've found that most vets' primary concern is covering their asses. I've taken my dog to Falls Road Animal Hospital for a minor concern. They had to run blood tests, they had to take urine and fecal, they charge for a specimen collection fee AND the disposal fee. I've left the "famous vet" with my jaw hanging open and a $600 bill!At Carney, they make decisions based on the dogs health and well-being, not their sales goals for the month.I drive 25 miles to go to Carney Animal Hospital and it's more than worth it. I'd walk there if I had to, just to avoid the corporate culture of most Baltimore Vets that overcharge for unnecessary tests.

We found Carney Animal Hospital when we were in a frantic stage of trying to find anyone who could figure out what was wrong with our wonderful cat, Figgy, back in 2004. After trying many different vets, we chose Carney as it was close by and could fit us in that day for an emergency visit. We found the vet to be caring and wonderful and they called the next day to find out how Figgy was doing. While we ended up losing Figgy the next day, we are thankful that we found Carney Animal Hospital. We have been going there now for the past seven years. We love the smallness of the practice so we always get the same vet (Dr. Andrew - who is just wonderful). We sometimes have issues with the front desk staff, but we deal with it because the vet care is so great. We get all of our questions answered and are never judged based on what we do or do not do for our pets. If you're looking for a better vet, a different vet, or a new vet, I urge you to give them a try. Having a vet that you trust, that treats your pets with care, and that will treat you with respect is so important.

My Chihuahua is 15 years old and he has cared for her health problems and nursed her through much illness with love and tenderness as though she is his own. The whole Staff is kind and caring as well. In my wildest dreams I can't imagine Carney Animal Hospital turning away a pet and family as mentioned by one review, but, if it happened, there had to be a very good reason.

We've been going to Carney for over 20 years and have had nothing but great service. We received a letter from Ed yesterday stating that they no longer wish to see us as clients for no obvious reasons. After 20 years of good relations as responsible paying clients we weren't even given the courtesy of being told personally by him or any explanations. One of our dogs has a special medical condition that we have worked extensively with Dr. Andrew over the past 6 years to treat and control and now we have to find another vet and start all over again? Ed may be the above reviewers "saint" but he's definitely not our pets patron saint. Good luck if you go there and my advice to you is have a backup vet, you may be needing them!!!!!

Dr. Ed Jendrick is a saint by our standards. On many occassions he has taken care of our dogs (Rosie, Munchkin and Gracie) and cats( Cissy and Cierra). He is now looking after my daughters dog (Hailey). He is such a compassionate man, kind and considerate and has your loved ones (pets) and your interest at heart. He has saved our Rosie more than once from beening put down. Our Rosie has disk problems being part dachshund and terrier. She was very ill and we were going to cancel our vacation but Dr. Ed said to leave her with him and he would look after her. We did go and called him everyday to see how she was. We came home after four days and Rosie was like her old self. We cannot say enough wonderful things about him or his staff. If you consider your pets as family as we do I urge you don't hesitate, take them to see Dr. Ed you will never take them any where else. HE IS THE MAN!

My 4 month old kitten broke his leg. It was actually a pretty bad break. The doctor basically said that he would need surgery and we were looking at about $3000 up front from a specialist. We were going through a little bit of a financial struggle and had no idea how we were going to pay for it. Our only other option was to get him put down. Dr. Jendrek said that he would keep him and put a cast on his leg until he was healed. I knew that we didn't have the money for it so I initially said no. Dr. Jendrek worked out a great deal with us and helped us tremendously. He is such a kindhearted doctor. The staff there are unbelievable! They are extremely nice and take the time to listen. They also knew how hard of a time we were having and took up a fund and put money towards the payment on the account. I could never thank them enough for all that they do. If you want to go for the best than choose Carney Animal Hospital!

Poor customer service experience. I took my cat in to get neutered, dropped him off at 8AM and did not receive any phone updates. Called a few times to ask for updates but was told they’re busy with operations today so it is taking longer. Already we don’t have a proper time frame and it seems like first come first serve instead of a set appointment. A little impersonal when your dear pet is getting altering surgery. In fact, our cat wasn’t even going to be seen until February but a couple weeks ago they called and asked us if we’d like to schedule it earlier instead, for today, January 27th. So did they intentionally overbook appointments or what to be so busy? Okay, but then by 2PM, 7 hours later, I try calling, and their phone at this point won’t even ring, so I have to show up myself. It isn’t until we arrive and finally get through the phone line and complain, that we finally get to pick him up. Why were we not told sooner, why was there not alternative ways at communication, and did he even get litter or water or was he stuck inside his carrier this entire time?! Once confronting the front staff, the veterinarian comes out with a front staff worker and instead of being apologetic we are hit with excuses and defensive manner, like “oh we had 8 surgeries today.” Not a single apology despite upset customers, my partner and I. Why is that my problem as a customer when you’re the one who makes the schedule? If I’m paying hundreds of dollars for your service, as this is our regular vet, I expect an apology and better communication when we trust this establishment enough to leave our animal here. You have lost us as customers and I’m afraid of how my cat was treated. We didn’t get any reassurance that he was able to walk around or use the bathroom. Nope, just “we had 8 surgeries today.” Wish we would have received a proper time frame, but no nothing. There was 0 communication and 0 reassurance that my cat did not suffer for 7 hours for a surgery that shouldn’t have taken that long. We will not be back. Thank you

We had to find a new vet, our "old" vet was charging a fortune for basic shots and care. I discovered there were a lot of vets in and around the Parkville area. I was told to try Carney and boy was I glad I did. The staff and Doctor's are top notch. The care taken with my dog was wonderful. The first time was just for shots and an exam both were reasonably priced. The wait time was very short but the front desk staff talked to us until we were taken in. I was surprised to receive a note from them thanking me for trusting them with our little guy. The second time was just shortly after we had the shots done, and my boy was quite sick; not due to the shots at all. He had lost several ounces and for a small dog that is a problem. There was concern over the dropped weight was noted upon the weigh-in before the exam. Again the care was wonderful, the staff and vet were very quick to determine what action needed to be taken to get him back to his usual healthy self. I was again impressed that I got a call the next day asking how doggo was doing. And then another card was received but this time it was not to me but to my guy with a wish for him to feel better soon . Seriously who sends a get well card to a dog? Carney AH does that's who. You will not be disappointed or feel like you are overpaying for the care that is quite outstanding. We will be Carney AH fans for life!

Nice local veterinary clinic, able to take care of various kinds of animals. The vets and techs are always sympathetic, professional and caring and have always taken great care of our two dogs. The clinic is easy to find, right next to the on ramp from Harford Road to the Beltway. Parking can be crowded and difficult to come by in the lot itself, but on street parking works fine.

Oh my . I can't say enough good things about this place ! I left crying!!!! ( with joy) they have so much knowledge and are extremely helpful! I took in a stray cat over the winter because it was in the teens during the day and my husband let the cat in until we found its owner . After two weeks of searching for the owner we decided to keep her. She's happy and healthy we call her Sugar because she's so sweet. I have the staff at Carney animal hospital to thank for all their help. They even gave us a carrier for her because we didn't have one. I would highly recommend them for their combined knowledge of animals. Thank you all so much! God Bless you all! You are heaven sent!

Carney animal hospital has a wonderful staff and is so kind to and respectful of their patients, both human and animal! They will also let you know if you don't need something, where as most vets push for you to get every little thing because it makes them more money. Carney isn't like that at all, they look out for their customer! They have helped me out on many occasions, I just wish they took the care credit card!

They've helped me more times than I can count with my pets, and all the rescues I've fostered, and cared for, and always work with me on costs where the rescue work is concerned. I don't know what I'd do without them. The staff is super friendly and awesome with the animals! They're very accommodating when it comes to making appointments too! I can't say enough great things about them! They genuinely care about your pets and treat them and you like family. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for excellent, top-rate veterinary care without the fancy, high dollar costs!

This used to be a great place, but no more. While the doctors are wonderful, the front staff is not. They are rude. I brought my cat in and the total bill was over $250. I told them to take money out of my account on Thursday, when I get paid. I just got a call from them today and they said it was declined. I didn't understand because they was money. The office manager was really rude and asked me what I was going to do about it. I said I'd call the bank. She said if I didn't call back in 10 minutes she'd run it again. I said she could run it 100 times but it won't matter and I needed to call the bank. I don't know where they got this lady, but it must have been from a collection agency because they violated the FTC act. As it turned out, they ran the credit incorrectly, but the OM didn't want to hear about that. Stay away.

They really CARE about my pet and my pocketbook.I have searched for years for a vet that isn't part of a corporate chain or more concerned about being famous than helping my pets.Carney Animal Hospital is a multi-generational business as Dad and Son are still running the place, seeing each patient, and creating the family atmosphere that exists here. The walls are covered with appreciative photos from clients going back decades.If you're concerned about the high cost of vet services, they have specials days for vaccines, and don't charge an office visit if vaccines are administered. That's unheard of!I've found that most vets' primary concern is covering their asses. I've taken my dog to Falls Road Animal Hospital for a minor concern. They had to run blood tests, they had to take urine and fecal, they charge for a specimen collection fee AND the disposal fee. I've left the "famous vet" with my jaw hanging open and a $600 bill!At Carney, they make decisions based on the dogs health and well-being, not their sales goals for the month.I drive 25 miles to go to Carney Animal Hospital and it's more than worth it. I'd walk there if I had to, just to avoid the corporate culture of most Baltimore Vets that overcharge for unnecessary tests.

We found Carney Animal Hospital when we were in a frantic stage of trying to find anyone who could figure out what was wrong with our wonderful cat, Figgy, back in 2004. After trying many different vets, we chose Carney as it was close by and could fit us in that day for an emergency visit. We found the vet to be caring and wonderful and they called the next day to find out how Figgy was doing. While we ended up losing Figgy the next day, we are thankful that we found Carney Animal Hospital. We have been going there now for the past seven years. We love the smallness of the practice so we always get the same vet (Dr. Andrew - who is just wonderful). We sometimes have issues with the front desk staff, but we deal with it because the vet care is so great. We get all of our questions answered and are never judged based on what we do or do not do for our pets. If you're looking for a better vet, a different vet, or a new vet, I urge you to give them a try. Having a vet that you trust, that treats your pets with care, and that will treat you with respect is so important.

You can't find a better Vet. than Dr. Ed and his Son, Dr. Andrew, too. My family and I have been going to Dr. Ed for years. He is THE BEST. My Chihuahua is 15 years old and he has cared for her health problems and nursed her through much illness with love and tenderness as though she is his own. The whole Staff is kind and caring as well. In my wildest dreams I can't imagine Carney Animal Hospital turning away a pet and family as mentioned by one review, but, if it happened, there had to be a very good reason.

We've been going to Carney for over 20 years and have had nothing but great service. We received a letter from Ed yesterday stating that they no longer wish to see us as clients for no obvious reasons. After 20 years of good relations as responsible paying clients we weren't even given the courtesy of being told personally by him or any explanations. One of our dogs has a special medical condition that we have worked extensively with Dr. Andrew over the past 6 years to treat and control and now we have to find another vet and start all over again? Ed may be the above reviewers "saint" but he's definitely not our pets patron saint. Good luck if you go there and my advice to you is have a backup vet, you may be needing them!!!!!

Dr. Ed Jendrick is a saint by our standards. On many occassions he has taken care of our dogs (Rosie, Munchkin and Gracie) and cats( Cissy and Cierra). He is now looking after my daughters dog (Hailey). He is such a compassionate man, kind and considerate and has your loved ones (pets) and your interest at heart. He has saved our Rosie more than once from beening put down. Our Rosie has disk problems being part dachshund and terrier. She was very ill and we were going to cancel our vacation but Dr. Ed said to leave her with him and he would look after her. We did go and called him everyday to see how she was. We came home after four days and Rosie was like her old self. We cannot say enough wonderful things about him or his staff. If you consider your pets as family as we do I urge you don't hesitate, take them to see Dr. Ed you will never take them any where else. HE IS THE MAN!

My 4 month old kitten broke his leg. It was actually a pretty bad break. The doctor basically said that he would need surgery and we were looking at about $3000 up front from a specialist. We were going through a little bit of a financial struggle and had no idea how we were going to pay for it. Our only other option was to get him put down. Dr. Jendrek said that he would keep him and put a cast on his leg until he was healed. I knew that we didn't have the money for it so I initially said no. Dr. Jendrek worked out a great deal with us and helped us tremendously. He is such a kindhearted doctor. The staff there are unbelievable! They are extremely nice and take the time to listen. They also knew how hard of a time we were having and took up a fund and put money towards the payment on the account. I could never thank them enough for all that they do. If you want to go for the best than choose Carney Animal Hospital!
