EDIT: The staff just called to apologize and hopefully the scheduling situation is solved so I've changed my rating. I do really like my vet and am hopeful this is resolved permanently so I can keep going here. I used to love this office but there's now only 1 vet reliably there that I trust my animals to and 3 times in the past 3 months the office staff have rescheduled my appointments but when I arrive I'm told my appointment was actually at a totally different time, either I've missed it or it's hours in the future. My family has been bringing cats here even before I was born, and I continue to use their services now that I have my own cats. There have been very few instances where I was left frustrated and unhappy. All of the vets here are great. Previously I saw Dr. Brendan Miller, who I absolutely loved, however he suddenly left the practice and it is unclear if he left willingly on his own or was let go.  Dr. Miller, who I now primarily see, can be viewed as rough when handling a cat, but it's clear that she knows what she's doing and is manipulating the animal in a professional and harmless manner. This was my first time at Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital. They took me back before my appointment time. I have been to vets in the past that would take you back 30-45 minutes after your appointment time. I also like the fact that the doctor wanted to try probiotics and antibiotics before doing other tests on my sick dog. I have been to vets before that would have pressured me to do other tests. My wife was surprised when I came home without a $200.00+ bill like many times in the past! Also the staff are very nice and the hospital is clean. Jacksonville Vet is a wonderful place to bring your furry friends! My husband and I adopted a cat about a year ago, and we were recommended to this place.  I have had varying experiences with veterinarians, but Dr. Thai just takes the cake! Not only is she knowledgeable and thorough in her evaluations, she is friendly and realistic about our pet. She looks at our kitty as one of her own and provides practical tips to keep her healthy that are easy for us to implement and always affordable.  Dr. Miller is also wonderful, and she took care of us when our cat required some diagnostic testing.Overall, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the staff clearly love animals, and the prices are reasonable.  I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a new place to bring your pet. The kennel staff are absolutely wonderful and when board our pug Pebbles, we don't have to worry about her, they are so caring and spoil her like we do! Awesome place, I have been going here for 27 years, my dogs have always receive loving care from the staff. They are very nervous and the staff always gets on the floor to make them feel more comfortable. The staff takes their time so as not to make their anxiety worse. I appreciate the personal touches of acknowledging the passing of a pet to calling after a visit to check on whichever pet had a visit the day before. Great place!! Read Less

I've been coming here since my first pet, so a little over 10 years. My animals and I have always been treated with the upmost respect and have ONLY gotten the BEST and most professional veterinary care. I don't care how far away you live from Jacksonville. If you aren't already going here, switch vets. You will not be let down. The clinic itself is very well maintained, clean, safe and presentable. The doctors, techs, and reception staff are absolutely wonderful and accommodating to you and your pet's needs. I highly recommend Dr. Brendan Moulder. He's a younger vet who was once a tech at Jacksonville, but he is exceptional. I love his honesty and his dedication to all of his clients. I had a terrible experience with Jacksonville Vet Hospital. Took my tiny Maltese, to see why she had lost so much weight. Dr Miller decided my dog needed her teeth cleaned and some teeth extracted. Picked her up after and they had pulled 11 teeth. My dog never recovered and ended up having seizures. We took her to PetER where she stayed for 4 days. She never recovered and died during the nite. Very sad, she wouldn't have died if Jacksonville hadn't been negligent by putting her under anesthesia and doing major surgery on a dog that was obviously too sick to make it thru surgery. It was too much stress and her tiny body just shut down. Don't trust them to care for your pets. Read Less

My family and I have been going here for over 35 years, Love all the Vets there. They are so compassionate. The gals at the front desk are awesome. Dr. Molder, Dr. Thai, Dr. Lynch. all of them are so kind. They sent me a lovely card as well when my sweet Crickett passed. I am in Pennsylvania and I drive 45 min to see them here. I would strongly not recommend this veterinary practice. I was prescribed Rimadyl for my 12 year old shepherd. I was never recommended to have a blood screen conducted and no drug precautions were explained to me prior to administering this drug to my dog. She died three weeks later and until then was in excellent health, as noted by their vet.The worst aspect is that I have repeatedly asked for an explanation as to why I was never warned and the practice has ignored my frequent requests. Please note, that I spent more than 500 dollars a month at this practice for my animals for the past 18 months so this lack of respect and unprofessional behavior is dismal. Read Less

Jacksonville Vets is the best, I can't recommend them enough.  They have been our vet for years and years and the service and compassion is always exemplary.  Recently we rescued a very "difficult" dog, who managed to escape and was found with a major scratch across is eyeball.  It was very serious and required many appointments and medications, and they were always so gentle and kind and concerned (and handled him like a pro, because he was NOT easy!).  Wonderful, loving place to take your pets. I have been bringing my cats to Dr. Lynch at Jacksonville for 12-15 years.  I'm not sure how long.  I have had only good experiences with them.  Dr. Lynch has always been thorough and very kind. The facility is very clean and has a cheerful look.  The staff has always been pleasant and efficient.Some years ago I rushed to them with a dog that had been badly injured.  They took him and ran to the back with him and managed to save his life.  They are good people. I also like the fact that they don't try to do unnecessary procedures and tests. After 3 pets and 8 years of being patients with Jacksonville Vet, I can give 4.5 stars. It's nice knowing the person on the other end of the line when I call. The vet techs are all pleasant and happy. Dr. Thai is a favorite!During my time with them caring for our pets, there was only one incident when I called and spoke with a new person. This person was not the friendliest nor accommodating in our emergency need with one of our dogs. They were closing soon and could not accept any more patients. I was directed to an emergency center.I can understand to a certain degree, but when we pay top shelf for service, as a loyal and long-term client, I expect a tad bit of extra service that perhaps isn't extended for someone who doesn't spend money. One incident in 8 years isn't a huge deal, but it was recent and unfortunately, it has stuck with me.Nonetheless, they are within 10 minutes of our house, the hours are convenient and they have been able to handle our needs. 20 years ago we took our family Labrador retriever to Dr. Lynch who was a godsend.  He was the best vet anyone could ask for.  When he retired the new vets the practice brought on were so insensitive and horrible to our pet Sammy who also was a Labrador. Dr. Burke was the Vet we were referred to specifically.  Sammy was at the end of life and suffering from congestive heart failure.  Our only wish for our family member, Sammy, was to be comfortable and not in pain.  Dr. Burke treated Sammy at 16 years old like it was a weight concern when her swelling and edema was directly the result of congestive heart failure.  As a cardiac nurse and my husband, a cardiologist we took a stethoscope to her heart, checked her vitals and had to diagnose her ourselves.  Because we are not veterinarians, we got a second opinion at Falls Road Animal Hospital, after Dr. Burke was so cruel and inhumane to our pet Sammy.  They confirmed her condition and finally Sammy received the care and comfort she needed until her condition progressed to the point that medicine could no longer treat her and we had to put her down humanely so that she didn't have to suffer anymore.  In the process of dealing with a sick loved one especially a pet so dear to your heart, Dr. Burke should not be in veterinary medicine.  She has absolutely no compassion or regard for animals.  We were so angry and distraught when Sammy began exhibiting such symptoms and had to fight for any care from Dr. Burke.  Dr. Karbonik was the only reason we took our pets back to Jacksonville and she just left recently to start her own practice.  She had such compassion and was so thorough with our pets.  Falls Road Animal Hospital is the only place you should take your pet if you have a pet emergency.  Maybe Jacksonville will take on more compassionate vets in the future, but as long as Dr. Burke is there, I would not recommend taking a loved one here. I would NEVER recommend this vet EVER. I have been a client of theirs for close to 10 years now. I have been shoveling money for them to run tests on my animals to always have no answers in return. Yesterday my cat who is older finally reached the end and they wouldn't even allow me to bring him in to be put down. I can't believe a company whose primary purpose is to care for animals wouldn't even give me 10 minutes of their time to put my cat at ease. They told me to make an appointment for the next day!!! It was at that point I was left to searching the internet for other vets in the area who could help me put my cat out of misery. This veterinary practice was recommended to me before I even moved to Baltimore.  From where I live, the ride to Jacksonville is lovely.  The care that my dogs have received here has been nothing but the best.  The doctors don't rush through your visit, and really take the time to explain what they're checking and why.  When my first dog passed away last year, the staff showed tremendous compassion and helped me get through a very difficult time. She is always so calm here vs our old vet in NY. We recently boarded her there while we were away and had her groomed too! She looked so cute/ clean when we picked her up tail wagging!
