Seven Locks Animal Hospital in Potomac, MD is a full service companion animal hospital. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in preventive care for young, healthy pets, early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages, and routine medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.
We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat your pet as we would our own. Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire health care team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner.
Seven Locks Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, and a closely supervised hospitalization area.
At Seven Locks Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.

Dr. Popa is brilliant, helpful, super kind, joyful, honest and straightforward. Under his care, some of our dogs lived beyond life expectancy for their breeds, and others lived to life expectancy. Our current dogs are thriving under his guidance and state of the art treatments. Top notch surgeon with excellent judgement. Couldn't be more pleased. He goes the extra mile always. The staff is phenomenal as well.

Dr Popa is very good. He managed to respect my Breeders wishes of only one vaccine per week and give my little puppy excellent care. He really loves the dogs and mine just took to him very well. I trust him and I am glad I found Seven Locks Animal Hospital. I have had 4 German Shepherds and a few Aussies. He also understands MDR1 and will even test for you. None of my other Vets understood how I cannot use Ivermectin in Heart worm medication. Dr Popa knew right away. So I highly recommend him. He is experienced and knowledgeable without the arrogance. Gives you free samples as well.

We have a 16 month pit bull mix who started to have frequent urinary incontinence. She was insured at Banfield so we ended up going there twice and felt like she was getting diagnosed with things that were probably not correct - ended up wasting money on some medications and generally felt like the vets were just putting it off and deferring it until we went back to our home Banfield in Cleveland in 4 weeks. We had a referral to Dr. Popa and when she had an episode of tremors, decided to go to him. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly, efficient, and were able to get our medical records from out other vet within an hour. They scheduled us in last minute and did let us know they weren't sure if it was better to have her go to the ED or come to the clinic. They discussed it w Dr. Popa and he said to bring her in. Even out dog liked the front staff and usually she is semi concerned in the vets office but here she was wagging her tail and trying to see what work they were doing.It's still too soon to know if his workup is truly correct, but he is thoughtful, thorough, and honest about what he thinks is going on. He took 45 minutes discussing things with us and going over how labs are drawn, her abnormal lab results, and what his workup and differential was. He seemed to truly care and was very patient as I made repeated calls to my husband to discuss some decisions we had to make. I really appreciate his time and consideration and efforts to not drain out our bank accounts, especially because we are not regular customers and were just in town for a few months and at wits end with other vets we'd seen in the area.

Wish we went to Dr. Popa since our dog was a puppy! We only switched over to Seven Locks when he was about 7-8 years old and I've never imagined such amazing care. Dr. Popa is very honest and conservative. It's so sweet to see genuine love and care for animals in the facility -- all the techs are so loving to my dog and it's so heart-warming to watch. He tries to save you money and choose the best option for you dog. You are never pressured to do anything. It's never crowded and you will only run into another pet on your way in or out, as expected for back-to-back appointments. It's very calm and patients don't overlap. I absolutely love Dr. Popa and his team and I wouldn't ever go to another vet.

After 15 years with the same vet clinic, I became increasingly dissatisfied regarding medical treatment and increasingly pushy sales tactics. I switched to Dr.Popa 2 years ago because his practice is close to home. I have been nothing but extremely satisfied with the medical care and treatment for all three pets. I wish I would have switched sooner. Dr.Popa is an excellent diagnostician and really cares for his patients, office staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend him.

Dr Popa has taken care of our two cats for over two years, including dental surgeries. I like the direct contact with the veterinarian. At other places we tried before there seemed to be layers of waiting rooms, nurses, and office staff that appeared ridiculous and expensive, and took away from the contact with the actual veterinarian. My experience so far has been extremely good in terms of interaction with the vet, so I feel I can recommend him.

The best vet I have ever gone to period. Dr. Popa is incredibly polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about your pets like they are his own family. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and the staff is cordial and polite. They will fit appointments in on your time and go the extra mile to make sure your pets are taken care of. Their prices are very affordable and Dr. Popa will explain every charge. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Dr. Popa is the best! He takes the time to talk to you and explain anything you have a question about. I take my dog there and so do my sister and mother for their dogs. The staff is wonderful and very competent. We have been going to Seven Locks Animal Hospital for years since when Dr. Clement was the vet. He was also a wonderful vet. It's so nice know to have a trusted and caring vet so close by. I highly recommend Seven Locks Animal Hospital even if you have to drive a little bit out of the way to get there. They absolutely love animals and it shows from the moment you walk in. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would!

Don't let the homey atmosphere of this clinic fool you. Seven Locks Animal Hospital has very sophisticated equipment, and the knowledge to go with it. I always wonder whether I should go with an old vet (or dentist, for that matter), who has a lot of experience, or a young one, with the latest training. Dr. Popa is a good combination of both. He's been a vet for a long time. He has the common sense and good instincts that come with experience. But he also has recent training in a bunch of specialties. If you're pet has something serious, he'll tell you what he thinks it is but then will refer you to a specialist for confirmation. I went to two specialists he recommended. He conferred with them after my appointments so we were all on the same page. They spoke highly of Dr. Popa, so I chose to have him do the surgery. It was a lot cheaper, but mostly I wanted the continuity.
My last two vets recommended treatments and supplements that I suspected were unwarranted. Never got that from Dr. Popa. His prices seem quite reasonable, too. More importantly, I trust him.

Dr. Popa provided extremely helpful tips that have actually worked to calm my dog and make him more comfortable. Dr. Popa takes the time during the appointments to allow the dog to get comfortable, and to really get to know us both. I appreciate that we've never been rushed through an appointment. The staff is friendly and helpful. A great experience.

Dr. Popa is now the vet there. He takes care of my (now) 3 cats and more importantly my mother's seeing eye dog. He and staff are WONDERFUL. They are reliable, available, sweet, genuine and caring. They have access to the latest and greatest foods and items being marketed to animals but are not trying to sell you things, they just try to help. Dr. Popa has now saved the life of my mom's guide dog when she got into a pill bottle and my cat when she had a terrible infection and almost died a couple of years ago. He and the staff are welcoming and incredibly genuine. I couldn't ask for anything more!

Solo dog ownership happened rather unexpectedly and left me at a total loss for how to properly handle my dog's health. I brought him in to SLAH worried about my dog, who had started limping, and generally overwhelmed. However, Dr. Popa was supportive and kind throughout the process of identifying what my dog's issue was and walking me through the basics of pet ownership. It has now been almost a year since the first visit- dog is just fine and this owner is way less stressed knowing that we both have a solid support system at SLAH when things come up. Thank you SLAH and Dr. Popa for making an otherwise overwhelming task seem more manageable and doing it with smiles on your faces!

I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Popa and his team. His excellent care, attention to detail, and genuine love for his work and for animals is obvious in everything that he and his team do. They have taken excellent care of our cat and our new rescue dog and we're so grateful for their hard work and generosity. I'll be recommending them to all our friends with pets. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and the staff is cordial and polite. They will fit appointments in on your time and go the extra mile to make sure your pets are taken care of. Their prices are very affordable and Dr. Popa will explain every charge. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Dr. Popa is the best! He takes the time to talk to you and explain anything you have a question about. I take my dog there and so do my sister and mother for their dogs. The staff is wonderful and very competent. We have been going to Seven Locks Animal Hospital for years since when Dr. Clement was the vet. He was also a wonderful vet. It's so nice know to have a trusted and caring vet so close by. I highly recommend Seven Locks Animal Hospital even if you have to drive a little bit out of the way to get there. They absolutely love animals and it shows from the moment you walk in. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would!

Don't let the homey atmosphere of this clinic fool you. Seven Locks Animal Hospital has very sophisticated equipment, and the knowledge to go with it. I always wonder whether I should go with an old vet (or dentist, for that matter), who has a lot of experience, or a young one, with the latest training. Dr. Popa is a good combination of both. He's been a vet for a long time. He has the common sense and good instincts that come with experience. But he also has recent training in a bunch of specialties. If you're pet has something serious, he'll tell you what he thinks it is but then will refer you to a specialist for confirmation. I went to two specialists he recommended. He conferred with them after my appointments so we were all on the same page. They spoke highly of Dr. Popa, so I chose to have him do the surgery. It was a lot cheaper, but mostly I wanted the continuity.
My last two vets recommended treatments and supplements that I suspected were unwarranted. Never got that from Dr. Popa. His prices seem quite reasonable, too. More importantly, I trust him.

Dr. Popa is great. I am a first time dog owner, and adopted a skittish rescue dog 6 months ago. Dr. Popa provided extremely helpful tips that have actually worked to calm my dog and make him more comfortable. Dr. Popa takes the time during the appointments to allow the dog to get comfortable, and to really get to know us both. I appreciate that we've never been rushed through an appointment. The staff is friendly and helpful. A great experience.

Dr. Popa is now the vet there. He takes care of my (now) 3 cats and more importantly my mother's seeing eye dog. He and staff are WONDERFUL. They are reliable, available, sweet, genuine and caring. They have access to the latest and greatest foods and items being marketed to animals but are not trying to sell you things, they just try to help. Dr. Popa has now saved the life of my mom's guide dog when she got into a pill bottle and my cat when she had a terrible infection and almost died a couple of years ago. He and the staff are welcoming and incredibly genuine. I couldn't ask for anything more!

Solo dog ownership happened rather unexpectedly and left me at a total loss for how to properly handle my dog's health. I brought him in to SLAH worried about my dog, who had started limping, and generally overwhelmed. However, Dr. Popa was supportive and kind throughout the process of identifying what my dog's issue was and walking me through the basics of pet ownership. It has now been almost a year since the first visit- dog is just fine and this owner is way less stressed knowing that we both have a solid support system at SLAH when things come up. Thank you SLAH and Dr. Popa for making an otherwise overwhelming task seem more manageable and doing it with smiles on your faces!

I've been taking my two dogs to Seven Locks Animal Hospital for the past 3 years. Dr. Popa is an outstanding veterinarian. The quality of medical care for my dogs is always great, and he takes time to explain procedures, recommendations, risks, etc. and answer questions. His staff is equally helpful.
