Make sure you check their policy concerning emergency. They longer accept sick animals except on their appointment terms, so my severely ill dog could get in in 2 wks. I know they use to be great but they sold out to a conglomerate "Southern Vet Partners." They are no longer owned by a vet nor do vets work there. They come and work on a circuit. I've done this before and it means nothing but insufficient care and price gouging. Read Less

My dog has been having severe dermatitis for the last 5 months.  I have been taking my dog to Main Street at least twice a month. Initially, I was told that my dog had fleas in December although the doctor never touched my dog.  She looked from a far. Sorry, I don't know names but the shorter doctor was definitely hands off.. literally.   (Petsmart told me fleas are all gone by this time of the year) I later had to go back again because my dog was itching uncontrollably, this time licking her armpits raw.  The shorter doctor (of the two) told me that there may be flea eggs in her skin, but never examined her.. again she looked from afar.  After a huge bill and a whole lot of medicine that did not work, I bought her back and was told by the taller doctor that it could be a food allergy. She did examine my dog thoroughly, at least she touched her.  My dog had been given Cesar wet food as a treat and apparently did not agree with her. At this visit, my dogs ear had started to bother her as well but she said there was no sign of ear infection and was given an injection and medicated shampoo that seem to work. The ear just never got well, it became scabby and she was losing her hair. I took her back and they just looked in her ear and said no ear infection.   I was given a lot of medication again that did not work. My neighbor suggested I take my dog to Dr. Lucas at TLC. Once at TLC, Dr. Lucas immediately took a scraping of her ear and looked at it under the microscope. He also used a ear stethoscope (I may be using the wrong word for this but you get the gist)  He says he thought he seen an egg mite.  He treated her with anti-fungal medication,  antibiotic, and itching meds. The point I am trying to make is that it took 4 or 5 ( I stopped counting) visits to Main street to do what Another doctor did in 1.  They aren't as expensive but after going over and over again for no concrete evidence of an issue, this adds up. I gave 2 stars because they did help at some point but they never got down to the real problem but they kept taking my money!  They kept misdiagnosing and never tried to get down to a real solution! Miracle workers, really.  And lovely and kind and welcoming staff.  Dr. Alpert saved our pug when another (fancy & expensive DC vet) told us this week to consider putting him down.  She stabilized him and treated him with caution and wisdom, clearly based in experience and good judgment.  She even recommended various foods to help his condition.  We will be back, even if it's a bit of a drive!  We are grateful for the care and clear discharge instructions and the more than reasonable costs.  So grateful. This was the worst experience ever!  My daughter called for emergency appointment. We get there with a sick dog that is hacking, throwing up and spells of shakes and they had us waiting an hour and a half!  Another customer who was obviously gaging her wait time from our since she walked in directly behind me asked is this crazy or what and how is it we see people come in, get seen and LEAVE all while we are still waiting?  The front desk person overheard convo and called her to the desk and says 'you will be next'... THANK GOD for considerate people. The lady immediately responded asking how can she be next when I was ahead of her!  To top all this off 'Christina' who I take was office manager comes out by request of front desk girl, asks the problem. The lady explained what we witnessed and our wait time and I explained my visit was an emergency... Christina responded in a nasty tone 'we are busy, we have a dog back there dying at least your dog is not dying!'.  I simply responded how do you know? That does not address the fact we've been patiently waiting almost 2 hours and the only I KNOW is your unorganized and rude!  NEVER AGAIN. Left, went to another emergency vet, in/out with meds in less than an hour without the rude Christina.  Hello... customer service and plain manners could go a long way! Read Less

Dr. Molesworth is the only veterinarian we take our animals to. We've been going for 16 years. We've never waited longer than 15 minutes, the staff has been polite and efficient. Because so many people, including many breeders in the area, go to his practice, the office gets very busy. But I have never experienced anything but civility and professionalism from the staff. They have never failed to get us a same day appointment if I have expressed serious concern for my pet's health. Really, he is the best vet--great diagnostician, truly knows his medicine. Dr. Moleworth practices real veterinary medicine---he is not in the field for any other reason. Read Less

I took my dog Ranger to Main Street for the first time. My grandmother has taken her dogs there over the years for spays, ear cropping etc. I was very nervous at first since my dog weighs 3lbs and he had Cryptorchidism (when one or both testicles haven't descended into the scrotum) Dr.Hahn was very helpful with telling me his options which were for his best interest. She explained to me about getting a sonogram done to locate the testicles and his options for having his baby teeth removed as well. They made a small incision in his abdomen and were successfully able to retrieve both testicles and removing his retained baby teeth. She explained over the phone how he was doing after surgery and that everything went great. I am so pleased with my experience and would definitely be back. Wouldn't trust anyone else with a small/ teacup dog. Read Less

The only vet I can recommend is Dr Molesworth. He is amazing! However, the other vets in the practice that I have seen are incompetent. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes to an hour from your appointment time to be seen. This is regardless of if they are busy or there are only 2 other animals in the waiting room and regardless of the vet being seen. The practice needs a strong office manager to turn it around. There is no excuse for the rude behavior by the receptionists and the general laziness in making sure the customer is taken care of. If someone calls in a day in advance for a medication pickup, they shouldn't have to wait over an hour just to pick a prescription. I've worked for a vet practice previously so I understand it can be busy and sometimes hectic. The rude behavior exhibited by some of the staff needs to change and shouldn't be tolerated by ownership/management. Dr Molesworth provides excellent care and he will never try to sell the client on a procedure or medication. He truly wants what is best for the animal. Prices are very reasonable. Read Less

I took my cat to Main Street and they totally misdiagnosed a wound on her side. I was told that she was probably bitten or injured herself. Both ideas were unlikely for an indoor cat that was not destructive towards herself. After several rounds of lancing the wound and surgery, I finally learned the truth. My cat had a Mast Cell Tumor (cancer). If I had known that earlier, they presumably could have done surgery to ensure good margins and given her more time. They totally botched the diagnosis and I would never take any of my animals there again. Read Less

Owner beware, this place does not care about animals. They let animals suffer and provide inadequate care. The doctors do not seem to know what they are doing and do not do the right tests to understand what is wrong with an animal.  Our animal was dying and we were not told. They let it suffer. Our animal was down to nothing and not eating. He ended up dying. The staff is also very unhappy and do not like animals. I do not know why they work at a vet. office. They are moody and practically bark at you. They also refuse to help you when you came in for something you were told to get. They can't seem to handle animals that are in pain. They blame the animal. They embarass the owner in front of other customers by saying it very loud. Most vets. understand that an animal in pain can be grouchy and unhappy and treat the animal with care no matter their condition. They are very rough with animals to the point that they anger them when they do a simple procedure. Animals that are gentle and kind come back angry after getting a small procedure. Read Less

The staff at main Street animal hosptial are very friendly and they saw my cat as a new patient on the same say due to an emergency with my cat (which I was very grateful for). They took me back right away. The environment is clean too. The paintings on the walls are cute and we felt very comfortable there. Dr. Wright is professional and always called me back the same day every time I left her a message. She answered all my questions and concerns. They took good care of my cat. The staff was amazing with him! So loving and kind. They really are animal lovers. I visited him every day he was there and he seemed happy and content. My only concern: Dr. Wright recommended a procedure that involves castrating my cat because he had developed stones in his bladder. I opted NOT to castrate him and asked her to flush out his bladder instead. We also put him on a special diet (they sell the special food to help breakdown the stones). I have read many posts about people castrating their male cats due to stones in the bladder and as a result, constant infections, severe pain and some eventually die due to this INHUMANE procedure. My cat has been urinating just fine (it's been 1.5 months since they flushed his bladder) and the special food is working just fine. He is a happy camper again and we keep him on this strict diet (not giving him other food, only this food they sold me). We paid $850 including the food we bought and he stayed there overnight for 4 nights. Two x-rays were done, bladder flushed twice and this price includes all the meds he had to take during his hospital stay and meds for 10 days after he was already home. But, he is happy and healthy and that's what counts! Finally, I do recommend this vet hospital but I do NOT recommend that surgery! Ask them to flush the bladder first and try the special diet first before this castration surgery. Try the diet for at least a few months. Ultimately, we pray for our cat daily for God to protect bless his food to his body and breakdown those stones. Read Less

DON'T BRING YOUR PET HERE!!!This Veterinarian hospital use to be one of the very best in Baltimore County.  I have been bringing my dog here from the time she was born.  My dog use to have a consistent doctor, but not now.  Every time I bring my dog there she sees a different doctor.  Some of the younger veterinarians have no clue whatsoever.  The last time I bought my dog in she had to be hospitalized.  My dog stayed in the hospital for three days and when they released her to me she looked as if she was about to die.  I bought my baby home and nursed her back to health myself.  I was stuck with a $500.00 doctor bill and they didn't help my baby at all.  The wait time just to pickup a prescription is ridiculous.  The staff at the front desk are rude and spend more time out on smoke breaks then assisting their customers.   It's simple, if you don't like your job...quit!!!  I hate this place and I hope they get shut down.  Again, DON'T bring your fur-babies here you will be disappointed.  Dr. Molesworth you sir are allowing these incompetent young veterinarians to bring your practice down. I am very surprised by the negative reviews I see here. A few weeks ago, I was dogsitting for my parents' dogs. One of them is a puppy and one is 11 and recently had surgery (also at Main Street). Unfortunately, the puppy got a little too rough and was too hard on the older dog. I noticed he was limping a bit and decided to give him a pain killer left over from surgery and see how he was doing the next day. However, in the middle of the night I woke up to him panting. When I tried to pick him up, he cried, and he barked to jump off the bed (instead of getting down himself as usual). So, unfortunately (I'm not proud), I panicked. I drove him to Main Street Veterinary Hospital on Sunday morning, no appointment, in my pajamas, crying (because he was crying), and also...seven months pregnant (that wasn't helping with the crying/hormones) part. I feel bad that the office staff had to deal with me but they were so sweet. It took me three tries to spell my last name through the crying so that they could understand it. We were seen by Dr. Molesworth right away. This man is truly one with your dog. He inspected my sweet pup and calmed me down, did xrays, and got us medicine immediately. All three of our dogs (and many dogs and cats of our past) have seen Dr. Molesworth and Dr. Han and we've always had great experiences. I am very grateful for how the dog and I were both treated during that emergency visit, despite the fact that I was hysterical. Read Less

My biggest regret forever will be I did not ask Dr Molesworth to look at my dog if only for a minute. I recently switched to Main Street Veterinary Hospital after going to a different vet for over 15 years. I was very happy with the way all of the staff interacted with me and my two elderly cats (they are both 15). The wait for my first appointment was a little long, but the appointment was at the end of the day, and I don't mind waiting for excellent service. Dr. Tammy Han saw my first cat (who is hyperthyroid), and was very patient and understanding about our concerns about him. She was soothing to him, talking to him as she examined him and trying to keep him calm. She then asked if we wanted to do blood work (our former vet almost demanded it), and let me stay in the room with my cat as she and tech drew his blood. The tech was also very soothing as they drew blood. To top this off, the appointment (with the blood work and some medication for my cat) was very affordable. Encouraged by this experience, I brought my second cat for an appointment the following week. This cat hasn't been to the vet in probably 9 years (she never had any issues, where my other cat has had many over the years). This appointment was in the middle of the day, and there was next to no wait time. We saw Dr Dechpiaruk. She also listened to my concerns (I didn't have many). Dr. Dechpiaruk gave my cat a clean bill of health and then suggested two services that my cat may need, but it was my choice. She gave us price estimates for the services (a dental cleaning and an immunization). I never felt pressured in any way. This appointment was also very affordable. I am very satisfied with my experiences at Main Street Vet, and highly recommend them to any one looking for a caring and affordable option for pet care. Read Less

Read Less

Dr Ed Molesworth is the reason to go to Mainstreet Hospital and only he receives the five star Expertise award. Molesworth is academically brilliant and gifted as no other veterinarian around. His bedside manners could improved, but really, who cares, he makes our pets well. I have traveled to him since 1995. My standard poodle, Chanel, had been at PET ER Towson twice since Sunday follow an accident while playing. This was the first day MS was opened. My biggest regret forever will be I did not ask Dr Molesworth to look at my dog if only for a minute. But Dr Anna assured me after seeing Chanel's wound "I have seen much worst, its really not that bad" Chanel stood panting, leaning against the wall. After checking her vitals she asked if I'd be more comfortable if Chanel stayed there overnight under their watch. Great! Imagine what it felt like when I received a phone call at 7:30 saying "sorry to wake you, I have bad news; Chanel died at 1 am this morning". HeartbrokenJan L Read Less

Dr Molesworth saved my English Bull Terriers life. Valentino had eaten a cat toy, little mouse and had to have emergency surgery. The surgery was performed at another Vet Clinic. Valentino"s condition after surgery was deteriorating. They had overlooked a very serious abdominal infection. I took Valentinio to Dr Molesworth to be re-assessed. The infection was so bad at this point my dog would not have made it through the night. Dr Molesworth kept him 10 days fighting the infection. Main Street Vet has been wonderful. The previous place we went to used to gauge ulme each time I went, and on my final visit had the audacity to hand me a $2,000 bill as I were saying goodbye to my beloved dog. I asked around and Main Street came highly recommend. The first time I went my dog's ear had swollen up. They had to do a procedure to drain it and he had to stay the night. The got right on the floor with my dog, which was wonderful, and the bill was so low I thought they made a mistake. I've been going back ever since. They've NEVER run my bill up with unnecessary testing, they've anyways been so compassionate to my babies, and I can't see ever going somewhere else. Read Less

Read Less
