We love Pet Dominion for our precious pup!!Our dog hadn't ever been boarded overnight or been to any kind of training school/doggy daycare, so we were nervous this summer when we had travel plans to send her somewhere new and strange for two whole weeks.The staff was so kind, welcoming and supportive and made our pup feel right at home. They invited us for a free day of daycare before our trip to get her acclimated and sent her home with a "1st day" picture and the cutest little report card. Ridiculous...I know, but it makes you feel good that they took the time to do consider her and recognize our nervousness as loving, doggy parents!The real test was our pup's two-week stay, which went very, very well. We got email updates with pictures of our pup exploring the yards, making loads of doggy friends and snuggling up with staff members!This is exactly what we wanted for her while we were away and will definitely be sending her back! I have two dogs and two cats. All animals use their vet, my dogs have utilized boarding several times, and I attempted to utilize cat boarding, but was denied due to their unwillingness  to confirm vet records with the local humane society. Pros and reason for the two stars they are getting: Convenient one-stop shop and your pets will be safe here. Cons: Beware the nickle and diming!! There are hidden charges on many of their services, particularly as it relates to boarding. They do not clearly display the costs of their sometimes mandatory, sometimes not, add-on packages. They act annoyed when you ask to see a breakdown. They frequently do not give you all the information you need to know. ie. Boarding is an extra $30+ per night per dog on holidays because you are required to add-on their gold package. They don't tell you that up front. The practice is deceptive. This place also does not keep good records, you often have to tell them the same information everytime you go. I have an adopted cat that they swear needs a booster, but they refuse to call the humane society to confirm that the cat is in fact up to date on ALL vaccinations. They have copies of the records! Is it laziness or an attempt to collection more money? They have no problem giving my dogs vaccines, but somehow I need to pay for a heartworm test AND an exam for them to "refill" my dogs heartworm and flea meds.... Which they are currently up to date on. It boggles my mind. Overall the customer service is severely lacking, even though they have MANY front desk staff. If you are in a pinch, and are willing to cross any hurdles, financial and otherwise, they put in front of you, your dogs will be safe and happy. But based on my 6-8 experiences, I cannot recommend Pet Dominion due to poor record keeping, hidden fees, and the ridiculous per night cost of boarding. Read Less

Both my dog and my cat are client/patients. I am relieved at the compassionate and professional response from vets, to techs, to caregivers, to admin staff. its really an outstanding experience. I have a 2 year old mixed breed rescue dog that I need to board for a few days.  I was very concerned that my dog would think she was being abandoned again when I left her.   After researching options and visiting several facilities,  I decided that Pet Dominion was my best choice.  Last week I left her for daycare one day and she seemed to do well. Today I took her back as a test and she acted happy to be there and willing to stay.   I will do one more day of daycare later this week and then I think she will be comfortable spending a few nights there. I am very disappointed with them. They abandoned their 15.5 years old client, my dog Efe, on his last day. Efe needed blood work to refill his meds and I took him to Pet Dominion this past Friday. I mentioned he had a bad weekend the previous week, but he improved a little bit since, but still not eating as much as he used to. They did the blood work and told me there was a problem in his kidneys and he had arthritis pain which we knew before. The new vet ( it was our first time with him) prescribed pain meds and asked me to call next day to let them know how Efe is doing. He also warned me that given my dog's age and condition probably we will be saying our goodbyes soon. It is all fine until here,right? Then the next day I noticed my dog's health declined. I called Pet Dominion at 2pm to talk with the vet but I was told he was seeing another patient and would call me after he is done with the patient. Between 2-4 pm I called 3 times to get a chance to talk to the doctor. Finally at 4 pm I was told that he left for the day but they contacted another doctor and he would call us. I did not believe in them anymore and took my dog to an 24/7 open vet hospital and my dog passed away that Saturday. All I needed from Pet Dominion was a phone call back to give me an advice during that though time.  They could have just call and say take him to an emergency hospital or bring him here. They were so irresponsible, disappointed me greatly, and abandoned one of their longest patient when we needed them the most. As of today, they did not even bother to call and ask what happened. We have been going to Pet Dominion since my dog Efe was 2 months old. Over the years we ended up seeing different vets there since some of them left the place. I should have change them after Dr. Z left the place because it was never the same after her. And yes they do try to sell you products. Read Less

Pet Dominion is the "Best of the Best" in regards to pet rehabilitation, animal care, lodging and veterinarian services! We have been taking our dog here for years and he is always thoroughly excited to go to daycare to see his friends. They also have pet-themed activities during the holidays (ie getting your dog's picture taken with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny). Also, Dr Basset is very professional and affable during our dog's check-ups; along with Justin & Aiden taking great care of our dog in their rehabilitation clinic with IR laser treatments and water treadmill rehab. Dr David is amazing!! We have been taking my 12 YO Bulldog to Pet dominion since we got him. This last visit was our first time seeing Dr David. He is very Knowledgeable, loving and caring. When a dr gets on the floor with your pet (instead of just a quick examine on the table) you can just tell he loves what he does and cares. I Received a follow up the very next day from the Dr David. Excellent Vets but admin service needs to improved. I always take my two cats over there and the vets are always loving, efficient and concerned. I had to take my cat Rufus on an emergency and the vet called twice to see how he was doing. When I tried to return the call, I was put on hold, the lady on the phone had no idea what I was talking about etc. Very frustrating. Also on the emergency visit my son was taking the cat by himself and I called in advance so the office could have the credit card number ready. Whoever answered and took the credit card data did not report it to anybody so when my son finished it became a big issue since he had no means of payment with him and he felt harassed as he was treated in a very though way. They called later an apologized but I just have felt very frustrated about the admin staff on this visit. Read Less

Our rescue cat was having a vast variety of medical issues. The staff addressed these issues and introduced us to cat acupuncture. We were amazed by the progress we saw immediately. As many other reviewers have already stated, this place is all about money. This is not my first experience with a veterinarian's office and I feel that I don't have too high of expectations. I want a vet who shows a genuine interest in my dogs, remembers us, and doesn't require a vet visit for every little thing. I have two dogs, a 6-year old and a 2-year old, and when we moved to the area we did our research and chose Pet Dominion. Every visit, we get pushed off to another veterinarian who doesn't know anything about our animal's history which was a turn off. Second, in order to get prescriptions and special dog food refilled (which they have both been on since they were puppies), we have to bring them in for a visit...which has never been the case with our old vet. We were encouraged to get our pup surgery and were told that she would be fine going under (even after being told otherwise by three other veterinarians) for a $500 procedure, and then after pressing further found out her chances of coming out of anesthesia were very low. Money is the motive here. Not compassion and interest in the well-being of the animal. We take our trip back to NJ every time our dogs need a vet visit now. Read Less

We went to Pet Dominion for therapy after our dog's torn ACL and meniscus surgery. She was checked by one of the vets beforehand, and I was impressed with how caring, concerned and thorough he was, taking as much time as we needed to answer questions. Then we started therapy. They have been very attentive, altering the treatments to the needs of our nervous dog. We started with a thermal image so we could see what we were working on. We've noticed a big improvement in our dog since therapy started, and she now is putting much more weight on the injured leg. The therapy is similar to what we went through after our shoulder and knee operations. So glad our vet recommended Pet Dominion for therapy!! Read Less

When we lost our dog Boozer, Pet Dominion not only was kind and sent us a card with a paw print and his hair, they also let me know how he was until the very end. Very hard to say good by and they where very compassionate about it. Now we have Bentley and they are taking the same great care of him. They are a little far from us, but worth the extra drive. When my husband and I got our Greyhound we had no idea where to take him because the breed has its own set of health concerns and should be treated by vets who know the breed. An acquaintance mentioned Pet Dominion over Banfield so we tried it out. I will say that they handle our boy great but the price is why I gave 3 stars. Our first visit was not even three days after we adopted our boy because he was having very loose stools and not drinking or eating well. They ran many tests to reveal he had hookworms which would last about a year. Every couple months we would see a different vet at Pet Dominion (which we didn't much care for) and get a new expensive bill for tests and medications. The seem to have a frequent turn around of vets here other than Dr Bassett.After months we really did consider changing to a vet that might know better but we stayed because of the convenience and familiarity for our boy. I will add that we felt they pushed for the additional tests, vaccines, and medications most of the time (some of which we declined). The charge one starting fee for you to see a vet and have your pet examined and no fee if you only need to see a technician (stool samples, vaccines, etc.). The say that pet insurance is accepted but we couldn't get it because our dog was technically sick or not in perfect health when we brought him in. I don't think we ever spent less than $70 for our visits so proceed with caution if you don't want to spend a ton. We also took advantage of the overnight lodging for a couple days. They let you tour the facility before booking, if you request. Our greyhound is used to being crated and sleeps most of the day so staying in a kennel environment did not deter me right away. I'm not sure for how many minutes/hours but they claim to take the dogs out for outdoor play time. I know another reviewer mentioned hidden fees, I think we were desperate at the time so we didn't pay too much attention to the price. I'd recommend to anyone looking for convenience but just be mindful of additional costs and ask questions about pricing before deciding to have exams, tests, or day-care/lodging. Read Less

I used Pet Dominion when experimenting on daycares for my German Shepherd. Overall, I would say it is a great experience, so do not let my 3 star review defer you. I would say for many dogs, this dog does the trick. They have an amazing staff, and if your dog is not spayed/neutered, they organize the playtimes to avoid any issues perfectly. Overall, I am impressed by the organization and professionalism of this business. The one thing that really got to me is that my dog spends a large part of their day in a kennel, with only a few play times. As a German Shepherd owner, I know my dog needs a full day to come home tired and happy. Mine was obviously very happy to meet new friends and have some fun, but I cannot say she was tired after spending a large part of her day in a kennel. German Shepherds need much more (as I walk her 3-5 miles a day).Overall, great place, and I may consider them as a vet in the future, or possibly even for boarding. :) Read Less

We have been using Pet Dominion services for over 5 years and overall impression is pretty good. The place is not impeccable but clean enough to feel comfortable when we bring our Yorkie for her checkup or immunizations. The staff is helpful, friendly and accommodating. The only thing is that it seems like every time we visit, there is a new vet and a new assistant and that is a bit disconcerting; if it is a good place to work it is a good place for our pets. We didn't use boarding, so I can't comment on that. Yorkies have genetic GI and dental health issues, so we had a few dental cleanings and tooth extractions done. Everything went well and was always taken care of nicely and professionally.   When our pup was just 1 year old, she had some serious digestive problems. Sometimes she refused to eat, sometimes she was vomiting in the morning. We couldn't figure out what's wrong; all test results were negative. During one visit, we were talking to a veterinarian assistant and she suggested to try feeding her smaller portions more frequently and to give her a little snack before bed. The idea was that she might be getting hungry in the morning and her stomach acids made her nauseated. That was so extremely helpful! Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the person to thank her publicly. Since that time the problem was solved and she never got sick in the morning. We do make homemade stew for our dog and that's all she eats, but that's another story and would be a review for a grocery store where we buy all the ingredients. Pet Dominion is a good place and I'd recommend it to others. Price wise they are probably all the same. I wish it would be more affordable, but let's be realistic: clean, professional, good reputation AND affordable? If someone knows that place, please let me know. Read Less

Everyone there from the veterinarians to the staff truly care for your dog as they would their own. They treat us like family. Dr. Bassett is so kind and caring. He saved my dog Lucky's life a few years ago and went out of his way to take care of us. When the time eventually came for Lucky to say good bye they were so caring and were as sad as I was. I called right they closed today, hoping to get a last minute appointment to have my dogs nails clipped before the holiday. I spoke with Lydia at the front desk who not only called me back immediately after we got disconnected, but squeezed me in right away! When I got there, a very nice young man (didn't get his name) was extremely gracious about my last minute request and handled it quickly. I can't say enough about how wonderful Pet Dominion is. Our dog is a member of our family and they treat her as though she is also a member of theirs. The Vets and their staff are professional, pleasant, and caring. The lodging and daycare staff are amazing. My dog loves going to doggy daycare! First, when we picked up our dog after 1 night of boarding. She was to have a bath the day before; yet when I waited 10 min to get her (no one else there at the time), I asked them to call for her again. They were drying her from her bath!!! The front desk went to check and came out saying she had gotten dirty playing with the other dogs so they cleaned her paws and face. They have turf outside so I doubted that. Then she came out and her entire body was wet. How completely unprofessional to lie to me. Also, they charge for playtime and interaction with other dogs. Really?!?! And a gourmet treat?! And extra bathroom times??? Wow oh wow. Take your animals to Sandy Spring Olney vet and boarding. They love and play with your pets because they care; not to get into your wallet. We recently moved to this area and started to use Pet Dominion about 1 year ago. Day care was great, then we decided to use Over night boarding which also was great, but the best experiences are when we have to visit with the Vets. They are so caring and take extra time with our two dogs. One day I made an appointment for both or our English Bulldogs (but by accident called our old Vet for the appt.) when I showed up at Pet Dominion only to find out about my mistake, they asked if I could wait 10 minutes and the Vet would see both dogs!! Dr. Bassett is wonderful. My 9-year-old lab/hound mix has a big problem with anxiety. When we moved up here about two years ago from Florida, her storm anxiety became separation anxiety. Every time I left home I was worried I would come back to my apartment in disarray if she had one of her fits while I was gone. When I came home to her chewing tv cables I knew I had to do something. After trying another vet who offered no solution and spending about $800 on vet bills and unsuccessful treatment options, I found Pet Dominion. I am so glad I did! Dr. Bassett was knowledgeable on anxiety issues and helped develop a treatment plan involving some natural/behavioral remedies and two prescriptions. I have since weened her off her daily prescription and only have to give her the other during stressful events, like storms. He is very gentle with the animals and you can tell he loves what he does. I have since referred many friends and even though I now live 30+ minutes away, I still make the drive to see Dr. Bassett. Wonderful and professional staff. They have my highest recommendation! Pet Dominion is by far the best veterinary practice in Rockville! We have always been impressed by the doctors and the level of care and compassion they offer. Aside from routine care, our dog has also had two surgeries there. Both procedures went extremely well and our dog recovered fairly quickly. I have a shepherd mix who never really liked dog parks. She was good with other dogs, but she didn't seem to have fun. I was nervous when I put her in daycare for the first time. She had a blast!
