Despite with mostly negative reviews on this location I would say mine was not even close how others badly had experienced. I wanted to say Thank You to Dr. Braxton and the staff (Kari) for their excellent service they have provided. My wife and I brought our dog as walk-in talked to the front desk staff and explained to them our dog might have serious health problem. They let us know beforehand that they can't guarantee if the Dr. will have time for our dog due to their booked schedule for the day. They have 8 dogs needed operations but Dr. Braxton examined our regardless her busy schedule to save our dog. Read Less

I have 2 dogs that I pay for service for. I am unhappy about the way they handle their non policy get out the way aggressive dog coming through. The manager was dismissive, condescending, rude, sarcastic, and yes Lyndsey is her name. My dog had an reaction to a shot they gave him benedryl and gave him the same shot again and his reaction was even more severe than the first time. My dog had a rash they took samples and said we will call you with the results and I had to call to get the results.Corporate office is useless and doesn't care .No resolutions or attempt to rectify complaints. The one star they did get was for Bobby who calls my dogs by name is friendly .Lets me know if there is a delay and understands what good customer service and quality service is. Understands that our dogs are our babies.I am cancelling my service and taking my money and my babies elsewhere. I would like to add for the manager who just sent me a message to contact Customer advocate. I have made 3 statements of concern to this so called advocate line.3 times one to state there was no follow up. I also left a message with my number for the District manager( which would have been the 4th time that I tried to get answers from this hospital.) who was visiting when I called to cancel my service. NO REPLY The only response I received was from my first request about your policy in which as I said the manager was rude and dismissive of my concerns! Read Less

The staff gave the wrong medicine to the wrong animal that could’ve killed a puppy. The room where she got worked on smelled funny and then the syringe container to safely house sharps was so full they were sticking out overflowing onto the counter. And then after she got the shots they forgot if they threw the needle away or not. Makes sense with what I’ve heard about animals dying there. Stay away!! Read Less

I wanted to like this hospital but I experienced nothing but problems. First, there was much confusion about my appointment. One receptionist told me I had to clear a "collection" with their Pet Plan that was canceled 7 years ago for a different pet but scheduled the appointment provided I pay for the visit in cash. Then another receptionist checked with the manager, who said I could not be seen until the collection was resolved. I called the main office to clear the collection and they told me that the MANAGER was incorrect and cleared up the situation and confirmed my appt. Second, the visit was over $500 for what I needed that's a lot of money. Five days later my pet still ill with diarrhea. I called for medical advice and was on hold for 30 minutes as the receptionist sought guidance from the doctor! I hung up and called back three times and no answer. This place is literally the freaking worst!!! I took my dog dexter in to be seen because his eye swelled shut. The dr wanted to put some kind of dye in his eye that cost 60 something dollars and I was like no I’m not letting you put dye in my dogs eye what else can we do?! She prescribed an antibiotic and a steroid. I was told to put a cone on him to keep him from scratching so I did. I was also told someone would call and follow up and no one did. 10 days later(which is now) my dogs eye is still irritated so I call back. They tell me since I’m not on “the care plan” I’d have to pay the visit fee. I’m like what “care plan”? No one talked to me about that, then she says well you didn’t come back for the follow up? I said no there was no follow up scheduled because the dr was supposed to call and check up on him and she never did. So the lady tells me well she called and your mailbox was full! Ummm what?! No one called! Mind you she asked my phone number 3 times at the beginning of the phone call. Then turns around and tells me she’s going to have the shift lead call me back and is this number a good number for you? She tells me the number and I’m so frustrated at this point that I’m like are you serious I’ve told u my number 4 times on this phone call and you didn’t put two and two together that no one updated my info when I was there the last time and they asked for my

So y’all don’t update my info when I give it to you, you don’t tell me about your care plan, you also wouldn’t give my dog his rabies shot without his past paper work and now I have to pay another 100$ for him to be seen for something he was just seen for aka a follow up?! My new Banfield office
I am new to the area, I noticed that my dog was having an issue with diarrhea. So I Google searching to see if there was something that I could do for her. There was a product that I could buy. So i went into PetSmart to find it. I went to the Banfield to see if they could assist in what i was looking for. I was advise that the medication was prescription only. That lady was a little rude to her co-worker, but ok it was late in the day. This young Lady came from the back and offered me solution that might help, very pleasant young lady thank you too. I went home and tried the chicken and rice. But the next morning it was worst there was infection in her bum. I then called Banfield to see if there was any way she can come in I was advised that they were book and double booked. Then the young lady (Ayonna) said hold on a min she came back and said that the Dr. said it is important for her to be seen now then later, bring her in. I was there in 30 min I am sure. They put us in a room alone b/c my dog is a little skittish around other dogs. Then we were put into an examining room. Ayonna came in asked a few questions and got the ball rolling to help my dog. Dr. Washington came in and did what she needed to do examine and explained in depth what needed to be done and for me to stop doing
(l LOVE MY DOG) I am so grateful to them for helping my dog. She is still not 100% yet, but you can tell she feels better then yesterday.

I love Banfield! My dog has been going there for the past 9 years. I love Dr. Edwards, she is super! I took by bichon there today following an awful visit to the waldorf emergency vet who tried to charge me $500 to cut down my dog's dew claw where he snagged it on the carpet and caused bleeding. I dropped off my dog at Banfield & they called me within the hour letting me know that there was no injury, but his nails were just too long. They trimmed all of his nails which only cost me $12. I paid $100 just to walk in that stupid emergency vet. I like Banfield as I have pet insurance for my dog through them. It is costly taking care of pets and I have saved thousands with my dog having his own insurance. They always take great care of him and always connect with me via a reminder card or phone call for when my dog is due for exams, dental cleanings and vaccines. They are all very nice and I just love Corey (spelling?), she has been there a long time. Dr. Edwards is very thorough and knows her stuff. Usually, I only want my dog to see her...but she wasn't available to see my dog today...he was seen by another doc who's name I can't recall, but I am so thankful to that doc for taking care of my "snooka" (nickname)! Thank you guys for all the love and care you have given my dog Beau throughout the years! You are so very awesome! I'm torn about this place. I really like a couple of the docs (Dr. Edwards and Dr.....I'm blanking on it but she's an older caucasian lady who is amazing....Remington I think), and the staff is personable enough but a lot of them a not good at multitasking between pets and people and phone calls. The biggest gripe I have with them right now is that our previous banfield in Springfield diagnosed our oldest dog with Cushing's disease without doing a lot of expensive testing, and Dr. Edwards confirmed that when we brought him to this banfield a year later with severe urinary issues and also mobility issues. She said it was fine for him to have his teeth cleaned under anesthesia after we finished his antibiotics (which was a game changer for him, TBH) so I made sure I scheduled it six weeks later with Dr. Edwards on a day that she was doing surgeries/dentals. We take him in (which is hard to do with a 119 pound paperweight basically) and my husband is told that the Dr. who is doing his surgery is not confident in doing the dental under anesthesia because of his age and because there was no labwork confirming his cushing's which meant they had to treat him a little differently with meds. She then said that she wanted to run labwork on him to the tune of $400 to confirm it. We were adamant that it not be done because he fits the profile 100% and besides, Dr. Edwards was supposed to be doing the procedure but wasn't and we weren't financially prepared to shell out that much money on a dog that has maybe 1-2 years left in him. We met her in the middle with a panel of testing that was supposed to be about $200. It turns out the testing that he got was some sort of genetic testing that also confirmed his breed? What?! Not what we asked for or were paying for. Then, when I went to take my dog in two weeks later, I told them that we still hadn't gotten the results because they haven't returned our phone calls at the times when we were available and that I wanted a copy of the results that day....I was denied them, saying that the vet had to speak to me first. This was our sixth attempt to extract the information. She promised the vet would call that evening after 5 PM. The vet did not. It took another week and a half for the vet to return the call and she confirmed that he had Cushing's. Great. We and two other vets knew that without the labwork and were treating him for it. We asked her what knowing the answer meant for what we were already doing for him and she said she would research how we needed to medicate him for procedures and get back to us. It's now been six weeks since the inital test and we are no further along than we were previously, and we are now $250 poorer. They are very much about pushing extra tests and stuff outside of the plan we pay $150/mo for three dogs for. We try to get them to write scripts as much as possible for them to be filled at Costco where it's 1/6th of the price Banfield wants for his pain meds, his thyroid meds, and his joint meds. So, buyer beware and only get the essentials you need. Many of the pet meds are sold at Costco and you don't have to be a Costco member to use the pharmacy and get the low rates.I may end up transferring his care to the Banfield by my office because of the new pickups/dropoff times. Either way, my review remains the same over the eight years or so we've bounced around this location. Read Less

Waldorf Banfield gets an F as far as I am concerned. I recently took my 5 year old Affenpinscher in because he was limping on one leg. As has been mentioned previously, the front office is a total zoo not vet's office. All dogs and owners crowded into a small "waiting" area. Two people at the desk about 4 people in various stages of checking out. I purchased the Insurance plan so that I would be better to financially handle any issues with my dog's leg. The Dr. came in after a lengthy time in the exam room and flexes his legs. She's say he has a luxating patellar and prescribes an anti-inflammatory med and a supplement for all of his joints. I got home with the dog and the meds and found 4 pieces of a pill...(1 pill cut into 4 pieces) for inflammation. The instructions printed on the pill bottle says " Give 0.25 chewable tablets every 12 hours for 8 days. Give for 24 to 48 hours then give as needed for pain." Clear??? right? Anyhow after taking the 4 pieces of pill my dog is still intermittently hoping on his leg. I called Dr. Edwards to see how we should proceed. She returned my call the next day and says if it still hurts he should see a surgeon. I am going to make an appointment with a different Doctor for a second opinion. I don't know what will happen from here but I am not impressed to this point. Read Less

Worst vet. Thought the puppy plan would be a nice way to save money while getting the doggos shots and what not as a puppy, which it was. BUT once my dog got sick and needed anything cost efficiency went out the window!!! $151.15 for three fucking medicines??? And when I looked up the medicine later it can be ordered online for less than $30. On top of that their customer service is shit. They have one competent receptionist, everyone else knows nothing. I called to make an appointment and they didn't have anything available for 2 and a half weeks and told me to take her to another vet instead.. I pay to bring my dog there. They also have a drop off option, leave your dog at 7:30am and pick her up between 4pm-6pm... I asked so she just waits in a cage all day until a doctor can find time to look at her? That makes no sense. Everything about this vet is flawed! One of the vets seemed as if she was afraid of my dog and had her assistant do all of the touching. Read Less

I've been taking my dogs to this location since 2013. At first it was great I took them a couple times a year, it was affordable, and the staff was really nice and understanding
NOW HOWEVER, fast forward two years later and appointments are disappearing off books, records of purchasing medications are disappearing from their systems it's just not the experience it used to be.
I work hard for my money, so when I come in on Saturday and you refuse to give me a medication my dog needs but tell me it's fine because they have a comprehensive on Wednesday (which I could have sworn was a dental and it happened to be so) and I have to take a day off, then you tell me no it was suppose to be a dental and the second appointment I had scheduled for a week from that disappeared, it's really kind of ridiculous. I'm tired of paying 80+ dollars a month for unacceptable customer service and a doctor that comes in the room for 2 seconds and NEVER completes a FULL physical exam. At the end of the day it's not as "affordable" as they say it is.
Plus, they roll out the dead animals RIGHT through the lobby in a trash can. They should really find a better system, because that is unsettling. Read Less

To be fair I will give this place a 2 star review. I had a pet emergency where my dog was having a seizure but once we got to the Dr's office it had stopped. The Dr tried to convince me to have some test but the cost would have been several hundred dollars. I opted not too but the Dr's tried to make me feel guilty as to say what if the seizure happens again. I held firm as said no I will watch and wait. I was given a referral to a 24 hour vet clinic just in case. my dog hasn't has a seizure since. Another issue I had was I brought my dog in because he was scooting and needed his anal glands expressed. I was told he had an infection and was given some expensive antibiotics on two occasions. I asked the Dr. to show me how to express my dogs anal glands to avoid having to keep bringing him in and she tried to dissuade me from wanting to know. I got tired of seeing my dog scoot I went on youtube and learned from a video and I have been doing it myself ever since. I have been with Banfield Pet Hospital, Waldorf MD for 8-years. It started with good service but every year with new staff members, it has decreased in quality. Some of the staff members lack professionalism. Often, their attitudes comes across as if they are doing me a favor by being there, not that I am paying for a service that keeps them employed. In addition, employees disrespect and embarrass each other, as evident by condescendingly correcting one another in-front of customers. It is uncomfortable to me as a customer to see and hear that unprofessional behavior and it forewarns me that the individual behaving in that manner will likely produce disrespect to me as a customer, SHE DID! Unacceptable! In conclusion, though I did not mention that I have experienced the 2.5-3 hours appointment times, nor did I mention the poor dangerous handling of my Yorkie, the problems are still present. I would change locations but due to my personal situation it is not feasible for me to make changes. AVOID...AVOID...like you can get RIPPED OFF!!!!!!I have had Banfield for many years. At one point, I had two dogs under their plan. When one of my pets passed away is when I found out that I still owed them a balance to pay out my contract. Fast forward. For the past three months or so, I have been taking my soon to be 15 yrs old Chow Chow to a Neurologist for nerve issues. There is no reason for Banfield to see her ever again. The Neurologist said it is not necessary for her to receive vaccinations at this point since she had received them over the years. On the day that she was last seen at Banfield, a blood test was run. However one of the critical markers of the test showed no result and as a result had to be run again for the Neurologist. My dog was on the $39.++ plan when I made the appointment and was on this plan when she was examined. I had been paying the $39 plus for at least two years. However, she had never used the dental so I informed the Vet that I wanted to cancel and go to the $29 plan. However. since I changed Plans while at Banfield, I am told that I owe almost $300 because she was seen under the new plan and that service received was greater than what I had paid. I had a good laugh and said "s**t", you know that isn't true. This is their arbitrary decision. How they can tell, since there is no time stamp, is beyond me. I asked about "goodwill" for being a long time customer. None is/was available. So, they informed me that they would sue and/or notify credit bureaus. And as I have been telling them for months, go ahead, I am not paying. They will never see another dog with my last name Read Less

Also use natural remedies like: putting Apple cider vinigar in your dogs water to stop ticks and fleas. Also for antibiotics use oregano oil. All natural and your not getting scammed from a vet. They treated my dog badly there. They kept him all day no food or water or bathroom break. Also I never got talked to from the vet after my nutering on my puppy. They sent an assistant who didn't even know what to say or to do. Read Less

I have been on Banifeld program since my dog was a pup and he's 15 still going strong. I have read some of the past Yelp Banfield reviews and I can relate to the $500.00 ultra sound. I paid the exact same cost last year because the Doc wasn't sure about a dark spot (cancer maybe) that showed-up on my dog's X-Ray. It was a costly adventure but I paid it. To some extent, I can understand the Doc's referral for a $500.00 ultra sound. I thought of it this way to ease my pain, it's not uncommon for humans to get costly referrals from their primary doctor. But I believe if my dog had a choice he probably would have said "WTH, I'll just suck it up" . However, since I had his back we got the ultrasound. The Doc who performed and read the ultrasound ruled out anything life threatening and thought he might be food and a hung fart. Regardless, it was not cancer and nothing to worry about. Guess if I had chance to redo the situation, I would have passed and did a follow-up because he also had liver issues. The one thing I can't get my brain to digest is the cost of Banfield prescriptions. Ironically, that's an elevated cost for dogs and humans. I easily found the medication the was prescribed for my dog online for $25.00 instead $60.00. That's a significant difference and Petmeds offered the prescription $38.24. I could have waited a few days paid $3-5 shipping and still saved a few bucks that my dog could have used to buy party bones. I believe Banfield could do better on the prescription costs because there is still a mark-up even after the regular fee shown on the invoice. I'm just thinking the same prescription is sold for $35.00 less, that's a significant disparity. I'm sure there is some scientific business reason why this is so. Nevertheless, I still believe Banfield could do better in that area. Beyond that I have not experienced any poor service, unprofessional acts, or ridiculous wait times. The staff knows my dog and he knows them. The Banfield staff have cared for my dog most of his life and for that I appreciate all that they do. Read Less

I came yesterday for the first time and my experience was awful. I had an appointment and I wasn't even brought back until about 30 minutes after my time. I only came to get my dog some vaccines and to put him on the wellness plan. He had some redness on his belly that I hadn't seen beforehand. Because of his skin irritation the doctor decided that she wouldn't give him the vaccines. She also prescribed three medications (antibiotics, etc) for the skin irritation that may not have been bacterial. I told her it was likely the flea drops I'd applied a day or two before. His skin is back to normal now less than 24 hours later, so i would have wasted almost $200 on the medicine she prescribed. She also rejected him for being on the wellness plan because of it. So I spent an hour here, paid $50 for my visit, and wasted gas for literally nothing. I could've just set my money on fire and got the same results. Read Less

Do not take your animals here! We are new to the area and thought the monthly plans would save us some money. We were so wrong. I am still dealing with a terrible experience we had with my 12 year old, 3 lb chihuahua. I brought her in for a UTI, after doing the urinalysis the vet tells me she thinks Lola may have tumors in her bladder and we really should do X-rays. I agree to them, she takes me back to go over them and she can't tell if there's tumors or not since her bladder was empty. She has a UTI and they did a urinalysis, obviously her bladder was empty. So she now wants to do an ultrasound, I say no the vet looks at me and says "well I can't tell if she has cancer but I'm pretty sure she does." Is this woman even a vet? I ended up spending $500 for nothing. We get home I give her the antibiotic, later that night she has a reaction. It was very scary especially since she is such a tiny dog. I call first thing in the morning I can't get through for an hour. I end up going in, they were very busy and I was told the vet would call me and let me know what i should do. Hours go by, nothing. I call again and am told she will call me when she goes to lunch. Hours go by. I call corporate in tears, they call and were told she was finishing up and would call in 5 minutes. Hours go by. I call again the girl up front was going to try and get answers and call me back. Another hour goes by. I call the client advocate line tell them everything and am told someone would be calling me to follow up with everything. The lady also said she would try to get in touch with the vet. Finally after 5 pm after 8 hours of trying to get a simple question answered I speak to the vet. So today, almost a month later I still haven't heard from the client advocate people. I call them today and was told a representative from this office would call me by the end of the day. Surprise surprise no one calls.Worst customer service, worst experience ever. Read Less

STAY AWAY. I've been taking my dog to the Banfield in Waldorf, MD for the last 2 years. I used to take my dog to the Banfield in Plymouth Meeting, PA for 3 years and the service there was wonderful. The service at Waldorf is HORRIBLE. I can not say enough bad things about this location. Unfortunately, a few bad apples have turned me completely against this place. There is one receptionist, one technician and one doctor that are absolutely terrible. They are rude, impatient, and have given me conflicting information regarding dispensing medication and care of my sick dog. I have worked with some of the other receptionists, technicians and doctors who are only average to say the best. The only exception here is Dr. Rosero. He is a very smart man and takes his time to explain things very thoroughly. However, it's just not enough to keep me coming back. The wait times are horrendous. Plan on spending at least 3 hours here. An hour wait just to get into a room is NORMAL. Another hour wait to see the doctor is NORMAL. An hour to get checked out NORMAL. They will try to sell you every drug under the sun. Then they will give you incorrect instructions on the frequency and dosage of the drugs. Then when your pet gets ill from said drug, and you decide to stop giving the drug, they will criticize you and belittle you for doing so. When you've had a dog for 16 years, you know when something is wrong. Don't ever let a vet or a technician make you feel bad because you used your best judgement. These are all things you can expect from Banfield Waldorf. Read Less

Also, I was told to buy my dog prescription dog food its expensive and just another way to separate you from your money. Read Less

It's a shame there is no way to rate zero stars. This specific Banfield is horrid. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They prescribed medication with a strength that's not even offered for this medicine. It has taken all day to correct the situation along with me calling the pharmacy to get the direct number because Tisha couldn't be bothered to call the main number and press 1. Therefore, I will tolerate the poor customer service while being proactive to the treatment and medical plan for my beloved Yorkie. Read Less

Read Less

This place is nice and clean but be cautious for all their hidden fees etc. my dog is on their "puppy plan" and got his shot, the doctor accidentally overdosed him and he reacted to it, I took him back and in order to SAVE HIS LIFE!!! they want to charge us while he is on the plan? wtf? We asked why are we paying for the doctors mistake when they admitted to making a mistake and they said, "because you want him to live dont you?". I am making a formal complaint and intend this to help people watch out for being conned right before their own eyes.
By the way, we called Banfields hotline and explained to them the situation and they stated that my family is right and that they will resolve this situation. Their hotline is very friendly and helpful and actually speak English which is very helpful.
***Update*** The Banfield hotline routed this up to the President of their Company and she personally called us and told us that we would not be charged and that she was deeply sorry, that was very nice, she also gave us her direct number to give her a call if the staff at give us a problem when we go pick up our dog.
No Stars for the staff at the Banfield in Waldorf MD
5 Stars for the customer service hotline for routing this up quickly and effectively, GOOD JOB guys!!! Read Less
