I was shocked at how my sick animal was treated by the once caring establishment that I had always trusted, recommended and loved. Curly had come down with a second case of pancreatitis, the first one being last August.
Most of us consider pets family. I certainly do! My sick and suffering animal was left to lay on the cold, hard floor. He was muzzled(which is totally understandable. I would never want a provider injured when assessing/treating my dog). The problem is, the muzzle used was intended for something like a chihuahua snout, not a 24 pound miniature poodle! He could barely breathe, after 3-4 minutes his nose was dripping water and it wasn’t until he fell from the exam table to the hard tile floor and I yelled out, that anything was done about it. The assistant acted as if she couldn’t care less that Curly was in distress and had fallen off the table. (It was their decision to remove his muzzle as he had been evaluated and we were waiting for the results of a blood test, which turned out to be an extensive wait) At that point, we had been there for over an hour and a half and we asked for a cup of water. They denied that and told me if I wanted water for our dog or ourselves, to go down a few doors to a Dunkin Donuts. I was excessively gouged financially for a treatment that Dr. Bonnie had done for him a year prior. Double, in fact.
I believe in speaking for those that don’t have a voice. Human, or animals who can’t tell their story. So, I have shared my story with countless relatives and friends who I have referred to this practice. Shame on you! Shame on you for caring only about the payments at the front desk more Than what goes on with sick animals in your exam rooms. Shame on the office manager who never bothered to call me regarding our troublesome experience or who didn’t return my call after I called her a few days later. I’m so sorry to my dog for putting his care into your hands again, I’m embarrassed for referring you to my loved ones and friends, and I’m ashamed that the love and true caring and love that Dr. Bonnie gave every animal who was brought to her (and Dr. Harrison) the practice when she left this world so suddenly and too soon. You have completely dishonored her love of animals and the fur kids she served.
Emma was the only employee who seemed to want to be there and who was sympathetic and who cared about Curly and us. Thank you Emma for cleaning Curly up when he soiled on himself. And thank you for your kindness you gave all of us.
This occurred on a Saturday morning. I was appreciative I was given an appointment for 10:30 on short notice. We arrived with Curly at 10:25, was called for weigh in and evaluation within 15 minutes, which was reasonable. The office was not busy (3 other pets came in for treatment and one dog came in for boarding in the 2 1/2 hours we were there) No emergencies came in. The office was staffed as it always had been during previous visits.
We finally paid our bill and left at 12:47
I truly hope the practice gets itself in order and puts their patients and their patients caretakers first. Curly was treated by the once caring establishment that I had always trusted, recommended and loved.
