Very friendly people who seem to know what they're doing! Dr. Rosseel is no avian specialist, but he knows a fair amount about birds and I've found him to handle mine well and communicate well with me. In general I don't really have any complaints, other than that I seem to always need to rush in on Thursdays when they aren't open! Read Less

I brought my Meyer's parrot to Dr. Rosseel after finding him listed online in a database of avian veterinarians. I was so incredibly impressed with the doctor and his team of techs. They were friendly, knowledgeable, handled my bird with expert care, and took the time to answer all my questions. Additionally, their prices for exams and diagnostic tests reasonably priced. Amherst vet clinic is everything you want in a good vet and more! They really care for your pets here, and never do anything to jack up the visit price with useless procedures. Everyone is super nice, from the vet to assistants to the women running the front desks. The place is super tiny and "new englandy" which adds to the overall charm. Price wise it's on pair with all the other vets in the area. This vet is great with puppies! Read Less

My fiance and I moved to the Amherst area in August 2015 and a few days later, adopted our sweet kitty, Hannibelle. We chose Amherst Veterinary Clinic at first because we had a voucher from Dakin for a rabies shot that was valid here, and this location is less than 5 minutes from our apartment. We have continued to make AVC our clinic of choice due to the wonderful, caring and ever helpful staff. Hannibelle is medically cleared until next September, when her next round of boosters are due, but we take her here every other month to get her nails trimmed. The price is right, it takes only a few minutes and honestly, I would pay double to get her nails trimmed, as that's not a job I'd like to take on myself! I'd recommend Amherst Veterinary Clinic to anyone, and we will certainly continue to take Hannibelle here. Read Less

I take my parrots and rabbits here for exams. I find the staff to be very kind and thorough, and the atmosphere is casual, quiet, and not hospital-like. There is not a huge waiting room because they don't overbook, so it's great if you don't want to cross paths with any other pets that might be frightening for your animals. Dr.R is direct and honest with you about his professional opinion but is understanding if you have to make another choice. I also like that he does not try to get you to order tons of tests every year for your healthy animal; he will tell you the ones he thinks are the most valuable for preventative care and which he thinks are a waste of your money.Read Less

Best vet clinic I've been to. An unfortunate thing about many vet clinics is you have the feeling they go into it for the money rather than love of animals, but this is not the case here. The staff are extremely caring and love all types of animals. I got great care for my rat and guinea pig here, and they are very compassionate and you can tell love animals just as much as the owners, and are willing to go the extra mile to care for animals - including small animals. The five star ratings are well earned. Great place to go with gentle, caring staff at every level that are great with animals AND people.A lot of the other reviews mention dogs and cats, but I want to emphasize this is the best vet I have ever seen for small animals. If you have a more "exotic" pet like a rat, they treat them with the same love and care as they would with any other animal, and the vet is incredibly knowledgeable. Read Less

The very best! Dr Rouseel started by taking care of my parakeet in about 1996, and when I got my dog in 2003 he was already the vet for the breeder so I continued with him. To date I am totally happy. My dog is now ten and acts like a puppy still. Nice staff, very helpful and caring people. You could not make a better choice. Read Less

A few of my reviews are, honestly, jokes.  The ones that are should be noted for being so - anyway, this one absolutely is not.  My cat is a stray that I adopted and love very very much.  This place has always had great care, and reasonable rates, and the people there seem to genuinely care about the animals.I highly recommend it. Great vet and staff. We moved here four years ago and I just picked them out of the yellow pages. They were terrific with my geriatric dog until the end and now they are my new (rescue) dog's best pals. Knowledgable, friendly, responsive and their prices are very reasonable. Excellent vet. My black labrador retriever  has been cared for by Dr.Rouseel and his staff for her entire 8+ year life.  The breeder she came from also used Dr. Rouseel, so he has been seeing her since before I even got her.  They are always available, knowledgeable, kind, caring, and attentive. "Searching for a great vet in the Pioneer Valley"Take 3...Okay some people may  be a little over protective about their kids.... I might be guilty of similar behavior with my animals.  We moved to the area last year and I've been on the hunt for a good vet for my cat and dog ever since.  We've now tried and canned two other vets in the area.  One because they seemed clueless and the other because their prices were competitive with SF Bay spas.  So at long last, I decided to try Amherst Veterinary Clinic despite the fact that NO ONE on yelp has commented on AVC or Dr. Rosseel.From my first call, I was sold.  Dawn, who answered the phone, was super nice and able to fit me in (thank you!).  My dog has Cushing's Disease so I was interested in a vet that not only knew about the condition but had experience treating it.  I found Dr. Rosseel to be very familiar with the condition and how to treat it.  His staff were fantastic and very gentle with my old girl.  The cost of my first visit didn't break the bank and was about $200 cheaper than my last visit at another vet.  Additionally, they had great follow-up communication with me regarding test results and next steps.  If you are looking for a knowledgeable, kind, reasonably priced vet in the area, I'd highly recommend AVC. After going there for a couple of years, I have mixed feelings about this clinic. The woman at the front desk is very kind and generally accomodating, and the nurses are pleasant and reasonable. But the Dr. I found to be a little less thorough and/or communicative then I would have liked. Overall, I think it is a fine place to get your pet taken care of, though not for the nervous pet parent! Read Less
