I'm new to Boston Animal Hospital, coming here after finally leaving my previous vet of 10 years which, sadly, went way downhill recently. My sister suggested that I check this place out after she had a good experience bringing a neighbor's dog in for an emergency visit over the summer, so I brought my two dogs in for their first visit yesterday and so far, awesome! First of all, I walked in and it actually smelled good! Even with all of the animals coming and going (and inevitably peeing, I'm sure), they care enough to have their reception area tidy and clean, and one of those cozy fall candles burning on the reception desk. The staff were all super friendly to me and my dogs, and you can just tell that they love animals. The vet, Dr. Gordon, sat right down on the floor with my dog and let him get in her lap! Everyone there clearly has a lot of experience, and Dr. Gordon immediately suggested treatment for one of my dogs' chronic ear infections (at the last vet, they were just charging me $40 to run a test, then another $50 for the same ineffective medication, over and over, with no real solution). Finally, one of my dogs is pretty old (a 14 year old Beagle) and has tons of old-dog problems. For the last few years he's had a persistent daily cough, which I asked our last vet about and they said was probably normal and they couldn't really do anything for it. I didn't even mention it to Dr. Gordon at first because, to be honest, I've just gotten used to it and he still runs around/doesn't appear to be in pain, but she noticed it right away and showed probably 100 times more concern than any other vet has for him. She asked questions, listened to the cough/breathing with the stethoscope, and even gave me a quote for X-rays. Of course, he's an old guy so she may not be able to cure him, but I was happy to see that she at least wanted to figure out the cause of his cough so we can try and make him a bit more comfortable. The last vet couldn't be bothered.I'm so happy I've switched to BAH!(And, for those that care, the last vet was Banfield - stay away!) Read Less
