My partner and I took our dog, Connor, here on recommendation from a friend. We had previously been going to Cambridge Veterinary Care, but when he tested positive for heart worm (we had just rescued him a few weeks prior), the vet there told me that not only did they not have the necessary medication for him, but that he probably wasn't going to even be able to get it. He took more than a full week to even get back to me with a treatment plan.
Our experience at VCA Brookline has been completely different. They're friendlier, more flexible, better prepared, more knowledgable, and show more concern for their patients. Dr. Groper confirmed the heart worm diagnosis prescribed a month of Doxycycline to kill a bacteria that strengthens the worms and sterilize them, which we went home with. He said they had Immiticide in stock, and even if they didn't, he'd order some and it would be in by the time Connor's next appointment was due in a month.
Preventing heart worm is easy, but treating it is hard. Dr. Groper and VCA made this a smooth process and as painless as possible. He personally followed up with me after working hours, and several times called me in the evenings from his cell to make sure Connor was handling the treatment well. I recommend this pet hospital to absolutely anyone and will continue to take my animals to them as long as I can. Read Less
