I do not recommend Danvers Animal Hospital and will be finding another vet for Aria's suture removal. I spent 795 dollars to get Aria spayed, her back dewclaws removed and get her microchipped. When I picked Aria up from the procedure she did not have a cone on and the receptionist held the cone in her hand. She said that Aria really needed the cone on because she was trying to go after her incisions and I asked if she could put it on for me because I didn't know how to do it well. She then proceeded to put the cone on, and told me this cone is way too big for her but they ran out of her size. Aria kicked the cone off immediately and the receptionist told me I should put it on when I get in the car. This is such bad practice. After paying nearly 800 dollars I would think I would get a cone that would fit my dog. I would have preferred to be notified ahead of time so I could go get a cone fitted at a pet store before the procedure. I then had to take Aria to petco after the procedure to try to get a cone that fit her. I called my vet tech friend who told me the practice should have cut the cone for me instead of giving me one that was way too large. I'm not sure why this was not offered to me. It is really important to me to keep Aria safe and keep her stitches clean, dry, and intact. The discharge teaching was absolutely despicable. The only instructions I got regarding her dewclaws was that bandages could come off tomorrow morning and that it was fine if they come off early. No instructions on how to care for her dewclaws when she is outside. Do I wrap them up so they don't get wet? What do I wrap them with? Can I leave the bandage on longer than a day? I had to find this information out for myself. I am a Registered Nurse currently in a masters program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. I know how to care for a wound and prevent infection, but the discharge teaching and instructions were completely inadequate. "Dr. T" called me today to talk about my thoughts and experience which I felt was done and over with and did not want to rehash it. He was completely arrogant and condescending on the phone and was replying with remarks "well you don't want to let her play in the mud." Obviously. It is a shame because I absolutely love Dr Anderson. She is a sweet person who genuinely cares about animals, but I travel over 30 minutes to go to this animal hospital and am not pleased at all with the customer service and communication. Read Less

Most recently we took in our cat that had 2 prior bowel impactions. We were not that hopeful of what they could do or how much it might cost. We waited about an hour, but we had only called ahead that morning, so practically walk-ins. They did have our cat's prior history there, so we had that going for us.We were brought into an exam room and after checking our cat's weight, they were with us in 20 min. We were greeted warmly by Dr. Blakely. She took time to take a quick history, give our cat some TLC, do a physical exam, and then she laid out our options. We asked about cost and she promptly returned with a clearly detailed list of procedures and costs for each option. We decided on a cost option that was affordable for us, and when our cat had to stay with them for the day she kept us informed of his progress. We picked him up at the end of the day with a plan that if he did not improve we would return for additional procedures. He has recovered, I think after the great care provided, and he's now a healthier and happier kitty. The staff were equally kind and also efficient with their services. Definitely will keep coming back here. Read Less

For almost 17 years, Dr.'s  Pelletier, Teague and Myers have taken care of my cat.  He was the most beloved individual of my life.  In all that time, he received nothing less than exceptional, quality care.  They were always attentive to his needs and he was treated with great consideration and respect.  When the time came, they managed his passing with extraordinary concern, empathy and gentle kindness.  I can not write enough positive adjectives to describe the Doctors and staff of this outstanding medical facility. Most don't realize the tremendous stress that people who work in veterinary medicine are under.  They care for both pets and people and deal with a rollercoaster of human emotions.  No establishment handles these challenges better than the D.A.H. Lastly, and I mean this with all sincerity.  If I were dying, I'd wish to go to the D.A.H.  I know without question, that in my final conscious moments and as I took my last breaths, I'd be treated with compassion, sincere caring and kindness.  I would be surrounded with love and friendship.  Qualities often lacking in human medicine that are offered in abundance at Danvers Animal Hospital.  I can offer no greater compliment. They truly ensure you pets care is their priority. When my cat went was in for surgery they noticed in the recovery room he was stressed being in a cage. They put him in his pet carrier, which is quite large and had his blanket and his stuffed animal. When I had an emergency at night,a veterinarian called me back quickly and explained my options. I was nervous about the surgery, and they took the time to discuss things with me. It is definitely worth the longer ride for me. Read Less

We've been taking our 2 year old Shih Tzu here for his entire life. I will say they've never been the friendliest bunch, but always helped take care of him and give us the information we needed. However, we took our dog in this past weekend on an emergency basis due to vomiting. The dog doesn't love the vet. He can become very skiddish and aggressive. They know this, it's been in his record since day 1. We see a Dr. at this visit who we haven't met before. He seems nice enough. Wants to examine the dog, but knows he needs to get muzzle on him due to his behavior. We try but the dog isn't having it. Essentially, the Dr tells me he can't examine the dog and here's some Pepcid, call if nothing changes. Mind you we get charged 70 bucks for no exam and Pepcid. The next day Caesar is still vomiting, I call back and inform the dr and he tells me that he wants to see him tomorrow at 845. I explain that it isn't possible due to my work schedule. He very rudely and passive aggressively tells me "well then how can I help you". To which I told him he apparently couldn't and hung up. Only for him to call me and my husband back 5 times leaving voicemails trying to be polite. If you aren't interested in helping animals or treating them or their owners with respect, you picked the wrong job. I will say we thankfully took Caesar to Bulger Animal Hospital in North Andover, and met a vet who not only took Caesar on a stroll around the hospital to help him relax, but also successfully examined him and prescribed medication for an infection and his stomach issue. They also prescribed us a lite sedative to help him at future vet visits. Very long story short - take your pet to a place interested in their well being. Read Less

Good morning! She promptly returned my emergency call and advised me how to induce vomiting (successfully) and keep a check on his heartbeat. I am more than happy to report he is doing just fine this morning. I also feel this is a good time to thank everyone at DAH, including Dr. Balint who is my go-to vet extraordinaire, and all of the staff for the many, many years you have kept my dogs and cats healthy. You always are a wealth of knowledge and treat us with respect and compassion. And your emergency services line is invaluable. I first called in to Bansfield where I actually have pet insurance to see if the could help my baby kitten who was 10 minutes old. My baby kitten was born with its intestants hanging out of his belly. With first no luck with Bansfield the very people I pay to help my kittens denied me help because they were to busy they said and all doctors were tied up I reached out to these people. On the phone a girl Sarah told me to hold on after I explained my story. When she came back to the phone all she had to say was bring all the kittens in with no advice at all while I was on the way to do with my baby kitten. Once I arrived the dr MaryEllen Starble had to help me acknowledge the fact that first I had to pay her $65 for the conversation. I was in aww. I asked politely to please just save my kitten and put her stomach back inside her and we would talk money after seeing time was in fact an issue. She took my kitten and came back out within one whole minuet. She proceeded again to talk money. She said YUP, KOTTEN HAS A BOO BOO! HER BELLYS STICKING OUT. I said no Shi/ that's what I'm here for so put it back in before she dies on me please. She said well unfortunately I can not just put it back in. I sai why? She stated, because that cost money, and a lot. I was so amazed that there were a baby kitten dying on her operating table and she refused to help it until paid in full. I stated I have no money at the moment please bill me. She said sorry will have to put it to sleep, orrrrrr you can try filling out this care credit for vets. Of course I was desperate and I tried with no success. After myself followed my fiancé with the same results. DENIED! Mind you this took about 40 minutes to do for filling out credit apps on an automated touchstone phone is time consuming. So my kitten is in pain and dying. Finally after falling on my face, broken hearted and out of options I put my tough guy I don't need anyone ego aside and begged my mom to help me please. She did with no thought for I'm her baby and sent me the money via credit card transfer. It was not until I had fully paid where she allegedly worked on saving a life. BUT NOTE, before the whole procedure took place she was telling me there were absolute no chance of survival and kill it. But once the money came she said we might just have a chance. Ten minutes later she comes in to myself and my fiancé all smiles and said, cogradulations she pulled threw. I took my kitten kissed her face and cried just a bit. But as I'm kissing her face I couldn't tell if my tears made her cold or if it had been to late and the doctor just cut her pushed her stomach in and handed me back my dead baby kitten. So I asked, why is my kitten not breathing. She said oh she's just sleepy. I said but you didn't give her anastasia so how is that possible. Also how could you operate on a kitten that's wide awake without it in excruciating pain. The doctor stated because she was to little and she was fine to live a long healthy life. Against my own judgement and out of desperation for my kittens survival I fooled myself into leaving the hospital and taking baby home. I was gonna name her miracle, and for obvious reason. Well as soon as I got home I opened up my cat carrier with all my kittens and mama cat inside to find miracle dead and cold stiff. I called the doctor back and told her my kitten was not breathing and she replied well you tried. But since you love her so much bring her by and I'll cremate her for you. I thought it threw actually until I realized she had this planned the whole time. She let my kitten sit so long over money that it was already dead before I paid her. She just cut her open dead pushed her stomach in and glued it back together. Knowing I'd call her and she could upswell me the cremation for $280 give or take. Hence the reason Anastasia was never used. There were no need for it considering my baby was already dead. I am not done here this is only the beginning. I'm calling the governor if I have to and these people will, answer to what they have done. These people are cowards! Read Less

I do not live in the area, but I do watch the Great Danes at the Service Dog Project on Explore cam, Recently one of the puppy danes managed to swallowed a toy rope. Owner Carlene tried unsuccessfully to make the pup vomit to no avail. She called Dr. George and explained the situation he told her to come over right away. Mind you, this is probably almost closing time on a saturday. Thank goodness Dr George was able to induce vomiting without having to do surgery...what a relief. He has helped out Carlene many times when something comes up without hesitation. If I lived in the area, Dr George would be my vet.

Read Less

Over the past 11 years, it has helped me avoid an expensive, unnecessary trip to an ER, but also saved my dog's life by recommending that's exactly where I should go. Thank you again for your wonderful services and such friendly and patient staff! Enjoy a happy Fourth of July! Best, Christine Warwick:)Read Less

We really appreciate Danvers Animal Hospital and the entire DAH staff.  Calling or using the website to make appointments is always easy, and they've always been accommodating to us when making those short notice appts.  All the doctors we've ever seen have been very caring, though we do love to see Dr. Maggie best, and they do a great job explaining prognoses, costs, and options.  We highly recommend DAH as a great animal hospital to bring your 4-legged family members. My family has been brining our pets to Danvers Animal Hospital as far back as to when Dr. Rivers owned the practice. We stayed on when George came on board and have always received loving, companionate and top notch care for our family pets. We have now transitioned over to Dr Teague with George's reduced hours. Now needless to say this was very difficult after working with George for over 20 years, but I have to say he passed muster so to speak. Dr. Teague is very thorough and is good with our Murphy. He is honest about what is going on and listens to understand out point of view of things. We are very happy with the care we continue to receive at DAH. i have gone to DAH forever and will never change. They are the best around.. Story quick, ... My 6 month old Golden mix was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on his upper palat in his mouth. George operated once and the dog lived to be over 13 years old. Two other vets wanted to put him to sleep. BooBoo was Danvers Animal Hospitals youngest cancer patient. I once brought the same dog in for surgery and got a call from the operating room. George told me the dog did'nt need surgery and was running around the operating room. Very honest as well! Read Less

Nothing but kindness and understanding, something you most want in a vet. someone there when you need him. THANK YOU DR GEORGE FOR ALL YOU DO !!!! Read Less
