My rescue pup was with Wignall for a long time. My last visit there. They not only injured him (visual limp after his visit & I heard him yelp), then they charged me for the pain medication!  The least they could have done in the situation was admit what they did and cover the pain medication. I was so disappointed with them not telling me the truth (even when asked) I decided that was my last appointment. Honesty goes a long way with me and accidents happen.  But the last thing I want to deal with is an unprofessional veterinary hospital. Read Less

Held off for about 10 days before writing this. I stopped going to Wignall a while back because they were rude and hurt my pup, but about 10 days ago, I had no choice but to bring her in as she was struggling. She was 15 years old and my only regret was that her final breaths were taken at this place. Not the worst part of all this is that before she was put to sleep, they came into the room with a card to sell me on my options for after she passes (this was my first time going through this, so I get that this is probably customary). What happened next made the experience excruciating. After we held our dog through her final breaths and cried on the floor, my wife got up and went out to pay at the counter. They told her to not worry about it and that they will bill us at our home address. We left.Five days later, we get the call that her remains were ready to be picked up. My wife makes me stay in the car (because I was a mess) and she went in to get her. They informed her that she needed pay them on the spot before they handed over our pup's remains. She reminded them that THEY SAID that they would mail us the bill and that she didn't have the right card with her at the time. They refused to give us our pup's remains and even took my wife into a separate room where they implied "if you can't afford this, there are other options." Eventually, after a ton of rudeness and disregarding of our grief and their own employee (who was standing there silently the whole time) who originally said that we could pay at home, they let my wife bring my pup out to me. She was in tears and told me that she needed to go back in and pay now. This was the worst experience I could have imagined after having to deal with the grief of putting my pup down.To pour salt in the wound...9 days after we put her down at Wignall, I get a postcard in the mail from them with my dog's name on it in big letters saying that it's time for us to schedule our next visit. UGH. Read Less

I don't typically use Wignall's as my vetenarian, but due to a sudden downturn in my cat's health, we mad a decision to eliminate his suffering. Wignall's had an appointment for us same day, which was great!.  They were also considerate and told me I could pay later because we were so upset - really nice.  However, when I called them to make arrangements to pay, pick-up my cat's body and paw prints they insisted on knowing what time I would be there so they'd have everything ready for me.  Upon my arrival, they did not have everything ready as promised and I was told to wait while they got my cat's body.  As I waited, the same woman asked "why was I waiting?"  Then she brought out the body, we went to our car with it and she came running out after us.  She gave us the wrong body!  At least she caught it!!  Seems that this is a huge miscommunication and this was a very unpleasant experience. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because they are open on the weekends. They are way over priced and will push tests and other things on you and guilt you if you say no..making you feel like a horrible person. They will also tell you your dog looks perfect and give them a perfect body score and in the same sentence tell you to give them a different food. If my dog looks perfect why change her food? I have since gone somewhere else and I love them. They give me a warm feeling that they actually care for my pets.. unlike the feeling I got from wignall. Read Less

My dog was a patient at Wignall since he was a puppy. Never really needed any serious care until he developed a limp in his right side hind leg. My wife bought him in for an exam and they scheduled an x-ray. After paying for an x-ray with anesthesia he was diagnosed with left side hip dysplasia. I was confused because he was limping on his right leg. After a while the limp got worse so I bought him back complaining about his right leg and the doctor said "Yes, I can see the muscle degradation". After another exam I he was prescribed over $500 in pain and hip medications. The pain continued to get worse to the point where he could not even use the leg. I decided to bring him to another vet and just by walking him down the hall they said they didn't think it was his hip at all but his knee. An x-ray confirmed he had two torn ligaments in his right knee. I feel I, and even worse my dog was mistreated by Wignall. I was left feeling all they care about is money. I have not and will never return there again. I urge you not to go there if you care about your pet. Read Less

I brought my dog into wignall in 2014 because he was having eye problems. Over the course of two years I brought my dog in multiple times and the vets prescribed my dog antibiotics and other types of medicines without doing any kind of exams whatsoever. Finally after 2 years of bringing my dog to wignall same exact eye problem over and over again I notice that he had somewhat of a film over his eye and that his eye looked enlarged. brought him back into wignall. The vet finally decides after over two years of seeing him that she's going to perform an eye pressure test. my dog has now been diagnosed with glaucoma. I believe that the glaucoma could have been caught sooner if the vet would have performed some kind of testing on my dog rather than just looking at him and misdiagnosing him. In total I've been bringing my dog to wingall for four and a half years and i feel like all i have to show for it is thousands of dollars spent and a dog that has been suffering needlessly for too long.Read Less

First off, I want to say I take my pets to Belvidere Veterinary. I have done so for about 20 years. To say I miss Dr Williams is an understatement. He was the consummate Vet. Not only did he take care of our pets, but the whole family.  I have spoken to other pet owners and we all agree, we miss him terribly and it is not the same. With that out of the way,  I want to give a big shout out to the boarding staff at Wignall.  We have always had a dog sitter and last week we boarded our dogs for the first time. To say I was a nervous nelly would be an understatement. I felt it didn't take the staff long for the staff to get a handle on how to care for my dogs. After a day or two,  I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation.  I will bring my dogs back at another time. One thing I do wish is that they had a doggy cam. I would love to have logged on to actually see for myself how they were doing.  The staff was very good about my frequent phone calls and encouraged me to call as many times as I wanted. About 18 months ago I rescued a wild kitty. She was about 1 pound, had upper respiratory disease (conjunctivitis caused her eye to be swollen shut) infested with fleas, warms, clearly starving, and just extremely sick. She was abandoned outdoors with about 15 other felines and no one would commit to taking care of them. (This was in the middleboro area). I had been visiting a friend, and in the back woods area is where she found these cats- but her family couldn't take care of these cats, so they worked with in-town rescue and tried getting people to foster and take these kitties in. I ended up taking one, and named her Jojo. I nursed her back to health. A few months later, I find out that the same mother kitty had another litter, and the neighbors were doing what they could to get hold of this cat, to get her spayed and put a stop to these poor kitties just multiplying! I ended up going back to Middleboro(I live in the chelmsford area) and rescuing Jojo's sister, and named her Lilly. I brought her home. When I brought the two of them in for a checkup, and explained my story, the vet assistant proceeded to tell me how I endangered my first kitty and that I was irresponsible and selfishly one-tracked and tried explaining how I should consider the needs and care of these poor felines. I yelled at her to get out of the room and get someone else to take care of me and my pets. Mind you, my kitten (Lilly) was being examined in a room, AWAY from me, and screaming like I have never heard a cat scream. I paid what was due, complained to the front desk about the atrocity of that women embarrassingly accusing me of endangering a cat (or two) and that it was extremely unprofessional. I ended up leaving that vet and have not returned. If I had to guess what I remembered her name to be, it was either Christina or Courtney- or something along those lines.I transferred my pet documents to another vetinary clinic and never went back to Wignalls. I got no apology, no explanation, and that woman never approached me . 18 months later, my cats are as healthy and as happy can be. I understand the risk of being exposed to feline blood diseases and what not- but I did my best given the situation and was somewhat familiar with the risks. The moment I was able to I brought Lilly in and asked for guidance. I did consider the needs and care of the felines, and those felines have become the biggest and best part of my life. I just wanted to give an update. Read Less

I moved to Dracut a few months ago and needed to take my newly-adopted lab mix to the vet for his post-adoption exam. I decided to give Wignall a shot, despite the Yelp reviews, and overall I'm glad I did. I called and got an appointment for the same day, which was a nice surprise.I was very happy with the medical staff, especially Dr. Thomas. She examined my dog, answered all our questions (we had a list :), and gave us lots of advice about caring for him. She even printed up some reference material for us. The assistants were really nice too, no complaints there. As for the cost, I didn't think it was too outrageous, especially after reading some of the other reviews here. The prices seemed on par with my previous vet in Andover. It was $63 for the examination, $41 for the fecal test, $30 each for 2 vaccines, $39 for some ear infection medicine, and $30 for some lab work related to the ear infection. So the total was $233. That seems reasonable for the services performed, but your expectations may vary.I also picked up a year's worth of flea, tick, and heart worm prevention products while I was there. They do not work with 1-800-PET-MEDS at all by the way, but they do price match, including coupon codes. I printed the cart from 1-800-PET-MEDS, brought it to Wignall, and they price matched it. Slightly frustrating when you get a call saying they don't work with 1-800-PET-MEDS, but overall it was more convenient because I didn't have to wait for the products to ship.Update 4/26/2015: Now that I've been bringing my dog to Wignall for more than a year, I'm upgrading this rating from 4 to 5 stars. My dog has been to Wignall for routine exams, flea and tick prevention products, parasite diagnosis and removal, patching up an injured paw, and minor oral surgery. I've been consistently impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness of Wignall's staff. Read Less

This is just for the overnight boarding:I left my princess here over the weekend for her first time away from me.  I was very nervious about leaving her anywhere and made this trip last minute.  The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions.  I even called on Sunday to check up on her.  My only question is why she seemed to have had a bath when I picked her up?  If she had been rained on or had sat in her food, you'd think they would tell me?  It just made me worry because I had seen the review from Audry P about her dog coming home with urine stained paws.  Did they let my princess get covered in urine and just clean her at the last minute?  Because I can't say for sure, and probably will never know, I still give them 4 stars.  But its something to consider and be watchful for. I just happened to stumble upon this place when looking to get a rabies vaccine for my dog. My reception was extremely friendly. . .that's important. When I met Dr. Thomas, she was totally professional and highly educated in this field. Se never does anything he believes the animal doesn't need. . .it's not about the money. . .it's about giving to the community and helping those who are sincere in caring for their animals. ALL the techs and assistants are extremely friendly. They are my family. . .anytime I have a problem w/ my animals, I have no problem as a walk in. As for the money, I will walk out w/o an estimate because I know they won't overcharge for unnecessary procedures. I'm always amazed at how inexpensive the stay of my animal is. After adopting my 3 Siamese cats I went in search for a Veterinarian Clinic that was affordable and where the Staff were experienced and caring. I tried a couple of Vets that I was not too pleased with. I was beginning to think there wasn't any decent Vets around so looked outside of my city and came across this hospital in Dracut...and what a find. Not only are they affordable, but the Staff are very friendly and caring to the needs of my pets. The doc answered all my questions and concerns and I didn't feel rushed to leave quickly for their next patient as I had with the other clinics I tried. Coming from shelters my cats were ill, and after correctly being diagnosed, and given the correct medications they were over their illness's in no time. The ladies who work at the desk are also very friendly. I would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone. I only have great things to say about them, and gladly I'm no longer searching for anymore Vet. Clinics, my cats will be coming back here if and when they need treatment. Read Less

Incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. They have made quick and accurate diagnoses with some tough illnesses for our dogs. When our golden retriever was dying of osteo-sarcoma the doctor was there for us every step of the way. She even came in on her day off to talk us through euthanizing our dog. The waiting area is clean and spacious, making it easy to keep poorly-socialized pets (like our other dog) away from model citizens. Techs and vets are all courteous and prompt in their service. My rescue pup was with Wignall for a long time. My last visit there. They not only injured him (visual limp after his visit & I heard him yelp), then they charged me for the pain medication!  The least they could have done in the situation was admit what they did and cover the pain medication.

Read Less

I'd say the reviews are accurate.. The doctors are awesome especially Dr. DeMarco and the vet tech staff is mostly awesome, front desk staff can be awesome or short depending on the day. And yes they are full service and charge full prices and do things by the book so to speak, so they will offer you the best care but you are on the hook to pay for it. Some vets will say oh you don't really need X but this is not one of those types of places. Expect textbook care at usual vet costs and staff to be amazing or so so depending on the day and who you get =) but if you can afford it your pet WILL get five star care.
