I have been taking my cats to Deer Run for years, since the office was where CVS is now. The vets are knowledgable and professional. They always have time to answer questions and explain how to care for the pet's problem. The staff is professional and polite as well. If you use this vet I would strongly recommend asking for dr Palmer if you have a sick pet.   He was able to provide a far more confident diagnosis than the other veterinarian and better advice as well.  He appears to have more knowledge based on my experience there. Read Less

Absolutely the best!! The employees at the desk are very nice, friendly, caring, and helpful. (Even when they are being yelled at). They really treat the animals like they were their own. Dr. Palmer and Dr. Alfano; along with their Vet Techs; are also very nice, friendly, caring, and helpful. They also treat the animals like they were their own. Dr. Palmer is my regular Vet, but every once in awhile I see Dr. Alfano; when Dr. Palmer isn't available. Everyone there are professionals. I do suggest to let people know, before they bring their animals in for surgery, if they need blood work to see if they can handle the anesthesia. It's not cheap to do that test. Some people don't have the money, so if u let them know their animal needs the test; they can have the test done first and then, if they can handle the anesthesia, have the surgery done. My grandsons adopted 2 rescue cats from People for Cats. These cats have history with Deer Run so I re-registered them there. The person doing the intake was pleasant and polite, answering all my questions. One month later one of the cats developed a little rash on his belly which he made worse by constantly licking at it. I made an appointment and brought the cat in. Everyone was really nice, especially to my 6 year old grandson who was very concerned about his new pet. The doctor gave us medicine and was very clear as to how to apply it and get the cat to eat the powder in his wet food. He also had some good strategies for helping us get the cats to lose so weight...they were a little hefty when we adopted them. Read Less

Deer Run is my local go to vet. I find the desk staff and, vet techs to be polite, appropriate and kind.  The facility is always clean, it's accessible and, easy to access. I'll share that of the vets on staff, I do have a few whom I prefer to interact with.  If you happen to get he right vets, the experience will be second to none. I recently changed vets to Deer Run Veterinary Services. My cat hd to be seen right awayand Deer Run saw him that day even though he was not even one of their patient's yet. I was extremely happy with the staff's professionalism, caring, and dedication. Because the doctor listened to all of the symptoms that I had noticed over the last couple of days, he was able to exactly diagnose my cat's problem. Went in for emergency services on my cat. The treatment was wonderful. But! They made arrangements for payment with me that weren't kept. I really appreciate all of the staff at Deer Run. My dog is very nervous around people, she is also afraid of things that move and anything that looks like it might be dangerous (ie: bags of food on the floor, coats on chairs, etc.). I'm so thankful the staff keep track of this type of information when it pertains to making vet visits less scary. My dog doesn't mind being up on the exam table, but she is terrified of the table when it moves. The staff are very patient while I get Lola into a sitting position and then lift her onto the table. They have also asked me to stand in certain places so Lola can see me while they examine her. This has made our visits so much better! Read Less

I took my puppy to Deer Run on a semi-emergency basis for sudden unexplained lameness. Dr. Couture and the tech (whose name I don't remember) were both excellent. Dr. Couture explained everything she was doing in detail, answered all my questions, and was thorough and gentle with my pup. I can highly recommend Deer Run, though my current experience is limited to Dr. Couture. I was visiting Cape Cod and my doxie became ill with a stomach virus.  Going to a new vet is not easy especially when your dog is sick, but Dr. Palmer put us at ease.  He is very knowledgeable and knew what to test for and what medicines would do the trick.  She was fine the next day and we were able to have a great vacation.  Note: I see the unhappy yelpers only complained about $$.  I found their prices extremely affordable. Once again Dr. Alphano has come to my rescue! My dog Chubby ate 210 chews of grass b green and at 4:15 on a Fri I called and asked to be seen, I was told to bring them in( I have 2 dogs, at the time not sure who did it... Although we had our suspicion ) they were great as usual gave the dogs great care. When it was time to go home Dr .Alfano gave me a number to call if I needed .... This place deserves 0 stars and should be shut down! I asked for no vaccines with adjuvants in them and the technician didn't know what those were. They thought my car was under quarantine, she wasn't. I requested blood work during last visit and found out that the Dr didn't do it not because it wasn't needed but because he didn't want to pay the lab fee.  The receptionist is ignorant and extremely uneducated. She also charged a different amount to my card than asked, and when I asked her why she did that she replied "I figured id do a different amount". I also had to show her how to use the machine. The receptionist also told a client she didn't need an exam for a rabies vaccine which is illegal. Dr had no idea how old, what medications or why my cat was there for the visit. I was charged double for food. When I called to speak to manager, I ended up speaking to the owner who was actually the Dr for the visit. He didn't see anything wrong with declining blood work due to not wanting to pay a small lab fee,  said I couldn't expect him to put himself on the line for the lab bill.  I will never go there and really hope they shut down. Who knows how many sick animals are out there because of a lab fee! Read Less

Terrible terrible experience with this vet.  I took my cat to Deer Run Vet so Dr Albano could neuter him.  I walked out with a much larger bill than quoted due to need for "flea medicine" (never saw one flea on that cat nor on any of my other animals) and vaccines that an exclusively indoor cat does NOT need.  Two weeks later, I brought the cat back to this vet due to a lump on his back leg where he was given a rabies vaccine.  Dr Albano told me that the cat may have a particularly lethal cancer related to the rabies vaccine.  When I asked why an indoor cat had been given the vaccine, he said that it was state law and "in case a rabid bat comes into your attic and bites your cat".  He took a needle and tried to get fluid out so he could look at any cells under the microscope.  He said he would call the next day with the results.  The vet then gave me antibiotic drops while telling me that the antibiotics were "not likely to help".  I was charged over 100.00 dollars for the exam, the "cytology" and the unnecessary antibiotics.  In addition, Dr Albano told me to bring the cat in 4 days later for an extensive surgery that would cost $400-500 to remove the lump from his thigh.  I was never called back regarding the "cytology".  I decided to get a second opinion on the lump because even I could tell that the lump was just under the skin and not attached to any muscle below it.  In the meantime, the lump resolved on its own without medication or surgery.  So....RUN FROM DEER RUN if you want to avoid unnecessary vaccines, needless prescriptions for antibiotics, avoidable significant surgeries (seriously a 500.00 surgery for a lump just under the skin??!!) and outrageous prices.  I feel strongly that my cat would have been much better treated in a different vets hands. All around great employees, a very nice, inviting waiting room. Everyone is friendly, and Dr. Palmer is exceptional in his field. We had blood work done on Reiley, our 8yr old Black Lab who has had back leg issues. The results came back promptly and with positive feedback. The dog is fine if you wee wondering. Read Less
