When I moved out of the city, I was hesitant to change vets from my original one in Brookline, as they were wonderful and any new vet would have big shoes to fill! I was immediately impressed with Acorn and how they handled my dog - he can be tough at times, and they didn't bat an eye! I unfortunately lost him a few weeks ago to cancer - but leading up to that, Acorn was so incredibly helpful and thorough in their testing of him to figure out what was going on. Dr. Brault contacted me whenever he had updates (even on nights/weekends), knowing that any pet owner would want to know results ASAP. He gave me great referrals once the cancer was diagnosed, and followed up regarding his care even when we were no longer being treated primarily at Acorn due to the severity of the illness. The owner operated on my cat unnecessarily and removed two of my cats teeth without my permission. I verified this with 3 other vets in Massachusetts. I filed a complaint with the licensing board and now the Governors office is looking into how the complaint was mishandled. The owner instructs all the Vets working there to add on unnecessary tests to jack up the bill. It is too bad, because the Vets working there are good people. He endangered my cats life by performing surgery that was not needed. That kind of behavior is against the code of ethics he signed when he got his license. Do not take your pet here! Went in today for the 3rd 'repair' surgery because they didn't get it right the first OR second time. Was totally heartbroken going in this morning and was very unconfident in today's procedure but was reassured that everything would be ok. An hour later received a call that my poor dog who was completely fine at home had cardiac arrest on the table and was unable to resuscitate him.  Due to the stress of having to go under and be suffering from pain after surgery for 3 times, this time finally did him in. While I understand there is such thing as unforeseen complications, this surgery should of been done correctly from the start and if they felt they couldn't handle it I should have been made well aware. Since moving to Franklin in 2001 we brought our wonderful pound "puppy" rescue 2-4 yr old Terrier/Corgie mix Maggie to Acorn Animal Hospital.   We have nothing but the most positive things to say about every aspect of Acorn and their staff!  After confirming their Veterinary quality was of high quality (we heard it was and we agree) we really valued their caring and always friendly Vets, Vet techs and office staff. They were always flexible to her/our needs.  As Maggie aged and developed more serious senior health problems, the Acorn team was caring, really listened well, made suggestions, and we think they contributed to extend Maggie's quality of life to well over 17-18 years!  After the unfortunate decline when we thought it might be time, we asked and they kindly suggested a Euthanasia at home service More time passed, but as Maggie actually loved going to Acorn so much and loved everyone there, it just seemed natural to have those services performed there.  They helped us confirm her health issues towards the end, managing her meds, and especially when we thought it was the "right time" for that very difficult decision.  Again they made it easier and they were all wonderful.  We could not recommend Acorn any more highly!  When we welcome another pet into our family (and we will), you can bet we'll be calling Acorn again for their help!  Thank you!Services used there (over the last 16 years):Wellness care, immunization, behavioral and internal medicine, nutrition, radiology, dental care, grooming, boarding, and Euthanasia.  Don't forget caring and compassion! Patient: Newfoundland (Large Breed)The staff at Acorn are incredible!  They will treat your pet like it is their own.  Unfortunately for us we have had multiple emergency visits, whether it be for a cherry eye or needing emergent stitches for a bad leg wound.  Their staff has always been there to help us in a pinch and make things better.  We have now had 3 major surgeries at their facility with anesthesia and the Surgeons always make sure to call after surgery and let you know how everything went.  I appreciate their thorough explanations regarding what is going on and giving us treatment options. They also call a few days post op to check in on their furry patients. We have seen most of the doctors there and I have good things to say about each and every one of them.  A few doctors that have gone above and beyond for us have be Dr. Weitzman and Dr. Violin.  Dr. Brault had great "bedside manner", was wonderful with Yogi, and explained everything in detail. Our family highly recommends this hospital for emergent care, diagnostic testing/imaging, scheduled surgeries and day to day care.   We recommend Acorn to all of our friends and family and they have all been more than pleased with the services they receive. I had been a client with many pets of Acorn Animal Hospital since its' opening in Franklin.  When I recently moved and was no longer able to transport my pet to Acorn their staff treated me very poorly.  When trying to retrieve records and passing on a food script for my cat to another facility in the new town I moved to  the staff was not accommodating and did not want to help me make the transition.  As a result I was unable to obtain the perscription food that my cat needed not to vomit due to her GI problem.  They did not care about the consequences of my cats suffering at all!!            While a client at Acorn I had received good care from some of the vets and poor care from one in particular who was always rude and uncaring towards myself and my pet.  I tried to overlook this and I would always try to schedule an appointment on a day when this particular vet was not present but that was not always possible.  On a whole with this last experience and the fact that I have been a good client and have spent thousands of dollars there ove the years with my many animals I have to  say I left very dissappointed and realize that if Acorn is not making money and you are not longer a client they have little use for you. The veterinary care is great but the grooming has drastically declined. We've been bringing our long haired cat to them for a summer cut for a few years, but this year was alarming. The cut was poorly done, choppy clipper marks everywhere and his tail was completely shaved. It made me worry about how he was handled during grooming. He is a 13 year old cat and we've never been told he is difficult to groom, so very confused/worried why this year it looks like he was very poorly handled during his cut. Read Less

They are great! I had a few emergencies when I called at 8am they got me an appointment immediately. Vet and assistants are so nice and compassionate, they take the time to examine everything and are so great with explaining everything and anything you may not understand. I  bring my 3 cats to this vets. The stuff is very friendly and caring. I had some problems with them handling my cats, i wish they are more involved in  holding an animal in place while in the exam room, my cat scratched me while I was trying to hold him in place. I think it should be a job of a veterinary assistant other than a pet owner. The prices are a bit too high in my opinion, but pets don't come cheap if we love them. Overall I always have a good experience and results after the visits. Would recommend this place. Read Less

I brought my new puppy Macie to Acorn and they took such great care of her! They answered all of our (millions) of questions with great patience and care. The facility is clean and the waiting room was large. They also sell quite a bit of food and almost anything you could need in a pinch for your puppy (or kitty). Macie loved the Vet and vet techs, and to this day, she still enjoys going to the vet, thanks to kindness they showed at Acorn. Five stars for Acorn and their wonderful staff!!! Read Less

I have a dog and a cat. We have been going to this practice for past 3 years. Without warning they doubled the price of the medication my dog needs to take on a daily basis. I have called around pharmacies for prices only to find out I could get this medication for the fraction of the price I have been paying. Very sad to be taken advantage of after being loyal patients for years. Shop around if you have chronic illness to be treated; expenses add up quickly and I deeply regret putting my trust into this practice. Read Less

Everyone who works here really cares for your pet as if they are your own. Unfortunately i had a 5 year old golden who passed away from complication of lyme disease. He has liver and kidney failure. Not that loosing your best friend is ever easy but they really were beyond nice and caring throughout the whole experience.  One of the women up front took jake's paw print and made a little cement  imprint and sent it to me a few weeks after. These are really great people who are there to do their best from giving shots (which believe me Jake never liked) or making them as comfortable as possible. Great staff. Read Less

Very good vets here. Dr. Illingworth is great. She is very good with my dogs. She spends extra talking with you to get to know your animals better. The place is very clean!! The receptionist are nice and helpful, its great that they don't try to rush you along. I've been other places where they just take your money and kick you out, it;s not like that here. Just went for the first time here. My dwarf hamster is sick and I hadn't even made an appointment and I got in within 10 minutes (but it would recommend making an appointment, especially with a pet that isn't a cat or dog, or at least call ahead). They did much more than I expected and the doctor was very kind and even cut some prices on the medicine since it was such a small dose. I will be going back here if I ever need to again. Read Less

I have a VERY anxious large dog. The entire staff at Acorn is so patient with him! They let him sniff every instrument before they examine him. When I am worried they take the time to talk through all of my questions. Appointments are always on time, it's very clean, and vets are so knowlegeable! Their costs are fair and they truly care about my pet. I moved far away but still travel to them because I simply cannot find another vet that measures up. We have used Acorn for over 20 years now. We had older pets that had to be euthanized and they were very helpful, offering me choices and handling things when I couldn't bear to. My 5 year old dog loves to go there. He is so anxious he pulls me in!! They are so qualified, he never even makes a sound for shots!! I had to get an emergency appointment for a family member's cat that he was no longer able to care for. I called at closing time on a friday afternoon and got an appointment for the first thing saturday morning. I feel bad for the person that feels they are only after people's money. That is terrible, and to be fair to Acorn, nothing could be further from the truth. They are so caring and understanding and I have never found a place I am as comfortable with. Even when i moved away I still drive further than i need to passing many vets along the way, to bring our animals to Acorn. There all about is the money not the pets... kinda sad :( Example: They will wait for your dog to get Lime disease before telling you there's a vaccine then offer the vaccine but also now you need antibiotics, lab tests, urine tests every 6 six months. Plus your dog now has Lime disease for the rest of his/her life. Also they will offer to fill your scripts there. Don't do it take the scripts to a pharmacy you will save about half the cost.
