First time visiting this clinic. I was looking for a closer veterinary and came here with some skepticism. I usually go to Amherst. I do not regret it one bit. In fact, my dog even became a bit aggressive and had to be muzzled (1st time ever muzzled) for a paw examination and I was mortified. However, after all was said and done he was fine and actually behave better after the visit. The doctor was great, exam, prescription and nail trimming and suggested a follow up in a week, just in case. Total cost $128.00 Not bad for a 1st time visit. Once at home he even let me touch the paw that no one was allowed to touch. Obviously, I am one of those overprotective human mom. Oh yea! Dr. Peck is great. We have been taking our pets to her clinic since we moved to Hampden in 2014. She is very warm, caring and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff is great as well. We have two cats and a dog that she cares for. Read Less

My chihuahua Bruno was attacked by a pitbull and severely injured his leg. We brought him to my vets hospital in West Hartford CT. They told us the leg could be saved and would cost us an arm and a leg. We couldn't afford it at all. So we brought him home. My boyfriend and I had called over 20 different places to try and get help for my little one and no one wanted to help or could help. After almost giving up hope we called Hampden hoping they could do something even though it's over an hour drive for us. There were no promises made but we took the risk and drove up there. The moment we first walked in with Bruno we received nothing but kindness and everyone was very helpful. They never gave up on him. They told us there actually was no saving his leg at all. Which I was very scared about. I didn't know how I was going to adapt. Well they answered all questions and concerns and didn't leave out anything they thought was important. They called me when he was going in and coming out of surgery and hands down just the best place I've brought my baby to. So glad they didn't turn us away and leave us in the dirt. I started seeing Dr. Penny Peck at her practice on Allen Street in 2003. Her staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I take all my furbabies to her and Dr. Laura Cyran at the new location on Somers Road and know that they will get the best care around. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dr. Peck and the entire staff are caring, compassionate and understanding. Our beloved black lab, Thornton became very ill after a dog bite at day care, they were there for us every step of the way. He was brought in as an emergency and was seen right away. Sadly he succumbed to the injury.. Saying goodbye was so difficult but having Amy & Angela there to support us was so comforting, they truly care about not only our pets but the families as well.Read Less

The owner is a really nice woman, and most of her staff is great but if you get stuck dealing with the dark haired woman at the desk , run. If you were having a great day she will find a way to ruin it. Very rude, unable to smile, I mean she is physically not capable of smiling. Have had a couple of good experiences here, two with puppies, one with and adult Mastiff. Very nice staff and they listened without judgment, next comes barn cats. I am a informed owner and ask questions, all were answered. After losing my vet I had been with forever I was worried about finding a new one. So far so good Read Less

This used to be the best vet office in the local area, Dr Penny Peck has always been/will always be the most caring and personal vet I have ever met! But with the new location has come many new problems in my opinion, I went for my 10:15 AM appt this morning and was immediately checked in just to be left in an exam room for over a half an hour... Well by the time Dr Cyran got to us my cat was no longer in an agreeable mood. I asked her why the wait and she said "Oh today has just been a busy day.", as she proceeds to barely examine my cat from underneath the blanket they wrapped her up in. Well the front desk told me as I was leaving "Oh no your appointment wasn't until 11AM!". No it was not, whomever I spoke with the day before on the phone confirmed with me a 10:15AM appt time. Even if that were the case, why was nothing about the time said to me as I checked in at 10:15 AM on the dot? Please get you act together, because I am not impressed whatsoever with this expansion! This is possibly the worst vet on the planet!  They over charge by a mile,  provide horrible service,  have extremely rude staff,  and a total lack of competence.  I'm not sure how dr. Peck even got a license.  She does have a license doesn't she? Read Less

I moved to Western Mass several years ago and had a heck of a time finding a competent vet. My doc in Florida was so awesome and never overcharged or did unnecessary procedures. I knew it would be virtually impossible to replace him. I have come very close with Dr. Peck.After several bad experiences with other vets in the area, I ended up at Hampden Vet Clinic at the recommendation of a groomer who has many clients who swear by Dr. Peck. My two little dogs (both under five pounds) were a few year old by this time. My small Shih Tzu had purple stuff coming out of his eyes that smelled pretty bad. Several vets had seen him with this condition and said nothing. The minute Dr. Peck walked in the room she said, "that's a tear duct infection. I can smell it." She treated him for it, and although it took a couple of course of antibiotics, it cleared up and never came back.She also tested his eyes and found he doesn't make tears so needs medication. I always thought he just liked to rub his face on everything. He actually was really uncomfortable. He now uses daily eye medicine and is doing so much better. I have only taken my dogs to her ever since. My oldest dog is suffering from congestive heart failure and she has kept him alive for over two years with medication without gouging me. These guys only care about one thing...  Money.  I have had a sick cat since November 2014 when we started noticing weight loss.  Brought him to this clinic where many tests were done.  He was dewormed and also treated for a UTI with fluids and 3 weeks of antibiotics.  At this time he was put on a special diet omitting his favorite indulgence...  Seafood.  A few weeks after his first round of antibiotic treatment his weight loss was apparent once again.  We immediately took him back where once again he was dewormed, put through the  gamut of tests and treated for the same ailment with yet another round of antibiotics.         After getting off the antibiotics again, he immediately got worse and has now passed unexpectedly before we could get him to a more competent Vet.  They NEVER ONCE WARNED US OF THIS FATAL DISEASE.  FIP.   It wasn't until after the fact that Dr. Lisa had the nerve to say that's what she thought it was.  Because I have never heard of it or been prepared for this possible outcome.  Keep in mind he is only 2 1/2 years old.  And his brother is lost without him.  Surely we would have given him the most spoiled last weeks of his life if we had only known that this was even a remote possibility.  In my opinion this clinic is a rip off.  All they did was take my money  and give me false expectation.   Dr. Lisa never once spoke to us about this.  I feel as though this whole situation was handled poorly and if this was a person they would be sued for malpractice.         Customer beware! They report to the city of Wilbraham information about you (your address) and your dog (vaccination record). Perhaps that is why they services are more expensive comparing to other veterinary clinics (e.g. test for lyme disease cost $75 vs. elsewhere $50). They shoudl care more about pets well being instead of snithing on their clients. Read Less
