I've been meaning to write this review for months now- I brought my dog Dunkin to Old Derby for about 2 years and recently had to switch veterinarians because I moved :( If I did not move Dunkin would still be going here! Staff is all very friendly and personable and took a genuine interest in the well-being of my dog. Whenever he got sick or had a health issue they properly evaluated his condition and did not try to run every expensive test in the book which is what my past veterinarian used to do. They use their knowledge to treat your pet in the best way possible and they have even talked me through caring for my dog on the phone when he was sick (after eating something he wasn't supposed to). Really trustworthy people here, if Dunkin develops a serious health issue in the future (hopefully not) I wouldn't hesitate to drive the distance back here to have him receive the best care! Cheers! I absolutely appreciate all of the staff and veterinarians at Old Derby Animal Hospital. I would-and do-recommend them on a regular basis! I cannot say enough good things about them. I have lived in 6 different states over the past 10 years and this is, by far, the very best veterinarian group I have been to. They give my dogs personalized attention and make sure they are having the care tailored to what they need. My mini dachshund was having bad back pain and difficulty walking/standing up. The vet put him on medication slowly to make sure he was able to get the right dose of medication without causing liver problems. Eventually when my dog passed, the clinic reached out to me with a note on how much they enjoyed taking care of Gossamer and I still go to the clinic for my other dog Sadie. My husband and I could be happier and really to do appreciate all of the staff at Old Derby Animal Hospital. We drive all the way from Kingston, MA to continue to see them. Read Less

Very caring staff and vets. Just recently, I had to make the decision to put my little 16-year old dog down. The vet spent about 30 minutes walking me through to the right decision. Then she left me alone with him for about 1/2 hour for us to say goodbye. Love Dr. Gorski. A week later, I had to rush my other little dog in because he couldn't breath. Dr Kimball was on duty and rushed him right in to get him calmed down, stabilized, and on oxygen. He then called the nearest hospital to have them ready. He even had me go out and get my car cooled down, helped me get him in my car, and put an ice pack to cool him down. Read Less

Old Derby Animal Hospital has been our vet for 15+ years. Myself and my family have always felt our pets get the best care possible. Every vet gives honest answers and strives to do whatever is best for the animal. I don't trust many people with my dogs and cat, but I truly believe every person there genuinely cares. The doctors and nurses take as much time as necessary to answer all my questions (and I know some of them are a little crazy) and call me back in a timely manor. I recommend the practice to anyone I know looking for a great vet. We will be patients there as long as we have pets. Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Old Derby for 9 years. The facility is modern, immaculate, welcoming. The staff are always friendly & loving with my dogs and cat. The veterinarians are professional, knowledgeable & caring. Always taking the time to discuss concerns and give options for care. We love Dr Gorsky and see her primarily but have had great experiences with all of the doctors over the years. The staff is always courteous though I do get the feeling that, if it were not for the money, some of the vets wouldn't give the care that they do. The kennel is downright awesome, with caring staff who understand your pal and will treat him/her with care and dignity. I wish they had more of a leaning to at least some effort at free or reduced cost care for those who are senior, disabled and/or low income. We discovered Old Derby through our neighbors who has a pet. We were so GLAD we asked them. We absolutely love the people at Old Derby. They are very accommodating, friendly, and personable. We have been taking our beloved Springer spaniels since January 2015. Our primary vet is Dr. Gorski. She is definitely an animal lover. We appreciate her genuine quality of service. She is extremely awesome to our boy Cooper. She couldn't be any better.There have been a few visits where we were helped by Dr. Kimball. He is just as awesome. And Dr. Butler can't be missed either. Seriously, this place incredible. Other workers that need mentioning are Casey (an assistant) for the Drs. and Cody (another assistant) for the boarding.There are others that I can't recall currently but the whole staff amazing.On the boarding issue; they offer a variety of services to fit your needs. Also, grooming is provided as well. And they reasonably priced for what they offer. I love the people at Old Derby Animal Hospital. My Vet, Dr. Kimball, is extremely kind and caring to my two babies Elliott & Emma. I came to ODAH a little over a year ago. They truly care about your pets and aren't about making $. My last few Vets didn't care as much about my dogs as they did trying to puff up the bills ridiculously. The Vet techs and staff here are very friendly. The place is always clean. I feel my dogs who are my babies and everything to me are safe in their care. My dog Emma just had surgery and Dr. Kimball called me before and after her surgery. I really appreciate the doctor taking his time to personally call me and let me know how my Emma's surgery went. They never overcharge or try to make you do procedures just to make more money and I respect and trust them because of that. It makes a huge difference as pet care is very costly.Read Less

As a brand new puppy owner I turned to Yelp to help me find a reputable vet in the area. I set up a new patient wellness exam as well as an in depth consultation because I purchased my new dog from Craigslist and I wanted to go over his prior vaccinations as well as figure out the microchip to ensure he wasn't stolen. The practice was clean and professional. Dr.Butler and his assistant spent a great deal of time with us. I was expecting a $2-300 bill when I left after the exam and vaccines however the exam was free and the bill came to $88. It turned out that he had a microchip which wasn't registered to any company or person. The Dr. Called two of the past vets my dog had been to in CT to find out some more history. Since the chip was inserted in Europe I had to call a number of supporting companies from a list the vet gave me. 2 companies were willing to take on the chip registration for around $20. I thought I'd try google I found a company that would host it for FREE! "Found animals registry" was the name of the company.  I'm a health care professional myself and I felt his exam was comprehensive and thorough. I'll definitely be returning to this office. Started going here a few months ago after going to a handful of vets for my Yorkie. I loved the way that the vets here seem to care and not be too pushy. Just honest about want needs to be done.I would recommend this visit vet to anyone in the area. Pure and simple an amazing facility with the nicest people, they are kind, compassionate, helpful and truly caring. My best friend loves going to ODAH, he is 13 years old and has been seeing Dr. Nicholas Warendorf all of his life...I don't know who will be sadder when my dog passes, Dr. Nick or me. I just recently had my two Boston Terriers stay at the Inn at Old Derby for one week. I was allowed to bring all of their stuff, (bed, toys etc.) They were very well taken care of, one had to have meds while I was gone and his wound was all healed when I returned. Although I had an issue with Old Derby a week ago, regarding their fees that I was not aware of, it has all been straightened out and they were very generous in giving me credit for my issues. I put my lovely dog into boarding for 2 weeks, he went in happy, clean and healthy and when I collected him 2 weeks later he was filthy, stunk of urine, had green crustation and gunk ouzing out of his eyes and was totally lame in his right hind leg and lost 2llbs. After and x-ray it seems he has snapped a ligament whilst in their care. I have him at home with me now and have transferred to a different vet, he is going to have to have surgery, he is so depressed, cowers when we got to stroke him, and has now started eating his feet and messing in his bed (he has never done anything like this previously)? I am so devastated at what has happened to my lovely dog, its heartbreaking to see him now, I will NEVER put him into this boarding facility again. I have no idea what happened to him whilst in their care, but I have previously boarded my dog and he has never displayed any of these signs.Read Less

Excellent facilities and they take excellent care of my dog B.G. (Baby Girl). She is always so nerveous when we go to the vet but they take the time to greet her and give her all kinds of attention. The docter is patient and actually sits on the floor with her and makes her comfortable before he gets started. I absolutely love Old Derby Animal Hospital. Everyone from the front desk, to technicians, to doctors themselves are overly helpful, genuinely interested in the well being in your animal, and you leave feeling very good about the service you receive. Both my husband and I grew up with pets, but 4 years ago we bought our very first puppy together! We researched vet's in the area, and although this one was the closest, Old Derby Animal Hospital had the best reviews. Although I love it there, I can almost always get a same day appointment if something happens, the only CON is that they are QUITE pricey! Some of their fees make me question them sometimes. I hardly get out of there even for a checkup without spending at least $300! Coming from a small town in upstate New York, where pets are seldom brought to the vet, this was a difficult transition! However, since it is our first, we want the best! I don't know if we will bring our furbabies there after we have more, but who knows! I still recommend it highly! Second tip- although we were hesitant bringing our pup to training classes as we both grew up with dogs, we decided to do it anyways as we felt we both could learn a few things. BOY am I glad we did. Our dog, is a lab, and we get told all the time how well behaved and trained he is. I owe a lot of that to Old derby! I wish I could remember the name of the person who did the classes, but if you ask the hospital, I think its the ONLY one they recommend! Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Warendorf for longer than I can remember. He was the vet for my first cat, she lived to be 17 and he was there for her in the older years, which is when I needed a great vet the most. When I had to put her down due to Cancer, he was very sympathetic, as well as his staff. It was such a tough time but for a staff to make you feel that comfortable, that is a blessing. I currently take my two 3 year old cats to him and still have nothing but great things to say about him and his staff. They are always on time with appts and if not, they apologize and really do care if they make you wait. The prices are way more resonable than most vets, trust me, I have checked a lot of others with the 17 year old cat I had. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Warendorf and a lot of the other vets there as well that I have seen over the years. Their staff is top notch, very polite and helpful. I currently get one of my cats a prescription diet and when I call to re-order they are quick to refill and are good about letting me know what their hours are that day so I can make it there before they close. Take it from me, a huge animal lover and someone that has a tight budget, this place is the vet for you :) Read Less
