This is an excellent Veterinary clinic, I wouldn't simply go by one person's poor review.  They are not an Emergency Vet.  If you want to establish a relationship and routine care for your pet, I would highly recommend this one.  My mom's dog had leukemia and the staff here were instrumental in ensuring he had an effective treatment plan that helped with quality of life, until the disease reached a tipping point.  They were supportive and as the disease progressed, we were able to get him in on short notice for evaluations and adjustments to his treatment.  People should realize that smaller Vet clinics cannot always accommodate instant needs as they have long standing clients and animals with various needs to manage.   If you don't have a regular Vet, it may take a week or two to get scheduled in!  It's like walking into a groomer's shop and expecting to get your dog groomed right away, it's just not possible. I took my dog there with lumps on his neck. My baby was diagnosed with leukemia the doctor and staff stood by my side to make sure my dog was taken care of they even squeezed me in when I had concerns and wanted him to be seen but unfortunately several weeks later he had to be put down. The Doctor and staff were so nice and supportive from the beginning to the end. They made the experience less painful. They were compassionate and caring. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone who really feel their pet is a true family member. Read Less

The staff are amazing and work with you to make sure your pet gets the best care possible. The office is in a beautiful Victorian which removes that clinical feel that our pets are often afraid of. The doctor and assistants are very knowledgeable and clearly explain every step during the visit, keeping you involved in your pets' health care and well-being. I called to have two cats put down and was treated as if I were murdering the animals. It's a hard decision to come to and it should have been easier. One of the cats died a few hours after talking to these people. The second one died two days later. I was upset and anxious and met red tape like I never expected. I have a third old cat who has gone to the vet in South Hadley now. They treated me much better and even waved their office visit. Read Less

I took my dog to The Animal Sanctuary yesterday on the recommendation from a friend who thinks the world of Dr. Perdrizet. My dog has a tumor in his mouth and I wanted a second opinion about what kind of surgery he needs. I called on Monday and spoke to a very nice woman at the front desk who patiently listened to me explain my situation and then made me an appointment for Wednesday. When I arrived at the clinic my dog, who is a little shy, remained calm and even seemed a little curious to check out the place. This is because the environment is calm and peaceful and the staff is very kind and reassuring. They allowed my dog to roam around the examination room and offered him homemade dog cookies. The clinic itself is amazing! It is in a beautiful converted mansion and really something to see. Dr. Perdrizet was great with my dog and very clear and straightforward in his diagnosis. He was patient and empathetic and laid out all the options and what they mean, as well as how much each would cost. They took some blood and the lab results should be back within 24 to 48 hours, which in my experience is very fast. The prices are incredibly reasonable and, as I said, everything is laid out beforehand so there are no surprises when the bill comes. My dog is in for a difficult road ahead and I am relieved to have found a vet that I feel confident in to give my dog the best care and help me make the right decisions every step of the way.Read Less

I have used Dr. Perdrizet for several years now because I wanted to get away from the VSA animal centers. I have found Dr. Perdrizet's knowledge to be so valuable that I will never go to another vet. I love how he thinks outside the box and doesn't resort to medicine as a first approach and he makes sure you are comfortable with his decisions. He is also trained in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Another nice alternative to pumping drugs into your dogs. I truly believe he saved my dogs life from a very rare condition that only someone very specially trained would have caught. This gave my dog another two years! I will say they are very expensive. I thought I was going to save money by switching to a smaller type of veterinarian as their overhead should be lower; but that is just not the case. It's almost too expensive for me but in the end, you get what you pay for and my animals deserve the best care possible and I feel I get that at Sanctuary Animal Clinic. I am giving them a five star because of the care I receive, which for me, outweighs the cost. Read Less

Terrible. My puppy was having a seizure so I called this office as she had an appointment the following week to become a new patient. Rather than being given any help I was lectured by the woman that answered because I had (inadvertently) called the emergency line and seizures are apparently not what they consider emergent. I was never given an option to make an appointment and was instead told they "can't help" and that I should call someone else. Read Less

Dr. Perdrizet and the staff at Sanctuary Animal Clinic are exceptional people and pet health workers. The atmosphere of the "office," being in an old house, is so comfortable and welcoming; our dog was very relaxed there. The Dr. offers additional care in alternative fields, such as acupuncture and herbal medicines. He understands the importance of good food and balancing energies. I only wish I found the Sanctuary sooner! Additionally, I came from another animal hospital where they didn't seem to understand the situation we were in with our 13 year old sweet dog, and they wanted to keep running test upon test for illnesses that just weren't showing any symptoms. The advice we received from the Sanctuary was vastly more in line with our healing philosophies. Please consider having your pets visit Dr. Perdrizet and the Sanctuary.
