Re: Response from Kingston Animal Hospital, yes it has been many years since my visit, I felt it was relevant to post my review because I had been hearing many similar stories lately from friends & others regarding your facility and particularly Dr. Davis. I would never want any animal or it's owner to go thru what you put us thru. I am so lucky I found an outstanding vet that my dog has been seeing for many years, he is a happy & healthy 16.y.o. I am sure if you did have your "notes" it would not detail the horrible behavior of the Dr. or your sub-par/neglectful treatment of my dog. I am a much more savvy dog owner now and know what makes a good vet. I never miss the opportunity to tell people of my horrible experience at Kingston Animal Hospital. . I had a terrible experience at Kingston Animal Hospital, particularly with Dr. Davis. I had recently adopted a dog that unbeknownst to me had Heartworm. I was scared, uniformed of the disease and looking for help. Dr Davis was so rude, curt and unhelpful, she did not explain HW to me, only recommended treatment, when I asked for further info she handed me a pamphlet on HW meds and walked off. The rescue I adopted my dog from told me to not have him treated, but to continue him on HW meds and let the worms die off naturally , they told me my dog had a huge risk of dying from treatment. I was terrified and confused. I looked to Dr. Davis for help(I learned, on my own, through lots of research that the rescue's advice was not the best course of action, but was very common in the South where my dog was from,). When I brought up the rescue's advice to Dr. Davis, she said, NO LIE..."that is what poor people from the south do, if you are unable to handle the financial commitment of having a dog you should not have one" , I remember her judgemental comments clear as day. In hindsight, and after learning lots more @HW, and finding a wonderful vet, my dog was far too underweight and unhealthy to go thru treatment when he did, it was risky at best. His current vet was astounded that KAH treated him when he was 25 pounds underweight,. He had mild HW , a good vet would have recommended delaying treatment until he had put on more weight, and improved his overall health and immune system, but Dr. Davis is not a good vet.. I was looking for professional advice and treatment for my dog, I had no issues spending money. I got my dog treated there because I was not sure what else to do. When I picked up my dog after treatment, he was covered in his own urine, had urine burns on his inner thighs which indicated he had sat in his own urine for an extended period of time. The blanket I left with him was also soaked in urine and they handed him and the blanket to me with a straight face and no explanation. I was an emotional wreck at the time and just wanted to get him home, I said nothing. I just remember thinking my poor dog was kept in a cage, not let out to pee, forced to pee on himself, the staff said nothing about it. They had the gall and did make sure to let me know that his nails were too long and that they had to cut them, they said in a very condescending manner as if I was a neglectful owner, they then gave me a lecture on the importance of keeping his nails trimmed. Are you kidding me???I had adopted my dog a week earlier, he had HW, had been horribly abused, was severely underweight, pardon me for not focusing on his nails. I was very upset and left, I never received a follow up call any type of written after care instructions. I was told verbally to keep his activity restricted, keep him crated for 8 weeks. The only thing I got in writing was the bill. My current ALWWAYS takes the time to speak with me re: aftercare, and follows up with calls after treatments, for things as small as a paw cut. KAH'S decision to treat my dog despite his physical state and their failure to provide proper aftercare instructions was grossly negligent and could have been fatal. Dr. Davis's egregious unprofessionalism and horrible attitude were just icing on a crappy cake. This was my first dog first experience with a vet, so I had no measure of comparison. I have since found a wonderful vet. Read Less
